Great atmosphere, wonderful staff, exceptional service. Fresh pasta and seafood was just what the doctor ordered. Martini was perfect, Chianti was old world and fabulous, carrot cake was heavenly! Can't wait to go back!

Delicious and authentic Italian food. Everything was amazing from the fettuccine alfredo, minestrone soup, salad, down to the bread. Intentional and tastefully done. Friendly service!

Went to Donny G’s for a great family meal, from the appetizers to desserts everything was excellent. Donny, the owner, was super friendly, welcoming, and overall was a really nice experience.

You will not find friendlier service, better Italian food or more accommodating ownership. I will certainly return!

Just had our daughter's baptism lunch here. The food is outstanding, and the service was even better! Every single guest raved about this place and vowed to come back for dinner. George did so well with our party, we are so very pleased and can't wait to go back.

Delicious. Highly recommend the baked artichokes and four corner pasta. The linguine and clams were also wonderful. Delicious wine and excellent service.

Donny G’s is the best. The calamari is so good as is the Greek salad and just about everything they serve. We recently had a party in their side room and the food was absolutely delicious and the service top notch. They took such care and careful attention to our celiac gluten allergies to make sure those guests had properly prepared safe and delicious food. Between the always friendly attentive service and the amazing food, this is most definitely the best restaurant in this area of Chicago.

Great authentic Italian cuisine. The soup pasta fragility was some of the best I have had in awhile. Service was excellent.

One of the best Italian restaurants left in the city of Chicago! Doesn't matter what you order on the Menu, it's all amazing! The lamb chops are a personal favorite! Weekend live music is also something to enjoy with dinner too.

Stumbled across Donny G's while we waited for traffic to die down. Its absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere is fun and welcoming. The food is top notch and so tasty! Service excellent and the team is so engaging! We are going back again next week! Top choice!

I showed up with my date relatively late, hoping the kitchen wasn’t closed and luckily I was attended to quickly and was able to get served some fine Italian cuisine. Many thanks to Mario and the rest of the staff for making it a very pleasant first-time experience. I will be stopping by again soon.

I have passed this place a thousand times and decided to take a chance. Great decision. The food was delicious the atmosphere was fun but our waitress Dora was so sweet. She gave great recommendations and was so nice. Definitely going back. Oh and they have a great DJ that jams out.

Came here for Sweetest Day and from the moment we walked in they showed so much hospitality. I order the Chicken Parmigiano one of my favorite Italian dishes and was better than expected it had so much flavor and my Girlfriend got the Lamb Chop it was Very juicy. The drinks were good as well. Definitely will be coming back!!!

We've had Donny G's a few times delivered. Absolutely delicious every time. This current time I did a pickup I Was greeted with a very kind come sit at the bar food will be out shortly. The young lady made me an amazing cafe correcto ! I can't express enough the kindness and the quality service I received. We will be back soon to dine in !!

My wife and I had our anniversary dinner at Donny G’s and it was fantastic! The food was superb and the service was second to none. The live music takes you back to the days of fine dining in a great atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

All of the food was very delicious. The cheesecake was my favorite. By far, the tastiest cheesecake I have ever had. The service was great, and so was the atmosphere. We all loved the music.

I passed by this place while going home and was hungry and trying to let traffic pass and let me tell you! It was such a great experience. I ordered the shrimp de Jonghe and the soup was fabulous. I was so glad I stopped, I will definitely be back. MaryEllen was such a joy. She was kind, patient, and made me feel genuinely cared for. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she kept everything running smoothly. Thank you for making my night special!

This place is a must, went there on Valentines Day and the whole experience was awesome. They were really busy but the vibe and the wait staff and owners were awesome. We will definitely go back. The food and drinks were also fantastic. Even the valet guy was funny. Loved it here you get like family

This place was so cool. Food was absolutely phenomenal. We had family style after a funeral and everything was great. Bartenders and wait staff were incredible. Try the cappuccino martini. Valet parking helps a lot and the attendant was very nice cuz.

Absolutely delicious top notch food!!! Just had my first experience with delivery from Donny G's! The food was amazing. I got Veal Parmigiana, my all time favorite Italian food. It was superb. I will be ordering again soon and often. The pasta fagioli soup was amazing as well.

Very good food and the friendliest staff! My friends and I stumbled upon this place because it was near our airbnb. this restaurant did not disappoint. the staff was extremely friendly and surprised us with a free appetizer and desserts! all items were very tasty! the giant homemade rigatoni was incredible and I highly recommend it. I wish I lived in Chicago so I could eat here weekly!

We had a rehearsal dinner at Donny G's last week and everything was wonderful! The food was delicious and plentiful. Our server, Lola, was attentive and friendly and handled our large party efficiently. They even have free valet. I highly recommend this place.

First time visiting Donny G’s. Walking into this restaurant reminded me of an old school Italian joint. Great vibe and people watching. The bartenders served up healthy pours…cosmos and dirty martini’s. Dishes are authentic Italian, with heavy cheese and sauce. There is live entertainment and dancing. The manager George was fabulous. Waitstaff are friendly. Donny G’s is on North Avenue with a lot of traffic, so opt for valet. It’s free so be sure to give the valet guys a generous tip.

Italian with a Sopranos vibe. Food portions were good and generous. Wine list had a few decent Italian varieties, but I was hoping for more. Their meatballs are delicious...refined and huge! Cannoli was not filled completely, which is always disappointing.

Our 2nd time here - absolutely delicious food! One of the best lasagna I've ever had. It was a Saturday night and they were having a private party in the other half of the restaurant so it was kind of crazy crowded but I'm thinking that was not the usual? I don't know but it was fine - we ate at the bar and the bartender Andy was wonderful. We will be back!

The food was really, really good served fresh and piping hot. The night we ate there was disco night with live music. I admit when we walked in as African Americans the limited diverse faces put us on alert. However, everyone was nice, professional and welcoming and soon we totally forgot that we were represented by few. I will definitely be returning and look forward to good food and music 😊. They also offer free valet parking and you need a reservation to eat there. Great place and atmosphere.

Ordered fettuccine Alfredo w/chicken…salad & bread comes on the side. Pasta was good. The salad was garden & the norm but the dressing did not have much flavor.

Attentive and friendly customer service. Appetizer was really good. My friends enjoyed their food however upon trying my Frutti Di Mare— the mussell, octopus, and scallop had an odd smell and taste unfortunately similarly to seafood that has gone spoiled

Not good. We were seated not in the main dining room. It was a Thursday, ordered bottle of wine thinking half price. We got the $230 bill for 4 people. Told 1/2 price wine only on house wine. Food was not good. Over priced. Will not go back.

My experience at your restaurant was that we were pushed to decide. We had reservations. We were pushed to the side my older companions. Or older woman in her 80s was forced to stand for at least a 1/2 an hour and then got the most terrible seats they could think of in the mostraffic part of the restaurant that's awful. I will never step foot in that restaurant ever again. George is the biggest jerk. I ever met in my life. He could have lived, set these older people down and he didn't. He's a jerk. I will never go there again. Their food was mediocre.

I made a reservation 2 weeks ahead, I even received a confirmation from the restaurant, when I arrived (on time) I was told to wait a few minutes as there were no tables, after waiting 1 hour and asking to speak to the manager multiple times, he finally came to talk to us after an hour and basically just said they overbooked. No apology, no accommodations...nothing. He was very rude and we'd never go back. You lost some good customers

Me and my wife along with two other couples went to Donny G's for Valentine's Day. We had reservations and were seated on time. We ordered 6 cocktails off the menu, they were brought to our table in 30 minutes. The cocktails were delicious, but 30 minutes is too long to wait! We ordered another round of the same cocktails midway through dinner and it took 30 minutes to get that round too! The food ordered took a long time to get to our table except for bread and water. The busman working our section was on top of his responsibilities! We ordered appetizers, Saganaki which was good, Grilled Calamari, but got fried calamari which was flavorless, 1 Dozen Baked Clams, they use littleneck clams so the clams are small, about 1-1/2 wide. The clams are all seasoned breadcrumbs I couldn't find any clam meat! The entrees we ordered, Frutti di Mare, with white sauce, the octopus was the best bite of the dish, but not much seafood sitting on lot of pasta. Not like any of the photos online! Sea bass from the evening specials menu was the best entree of the night. Chicken Parmigiana, frozen deep fried breaded chicken, the tomato sauce tasted raw, different taste from the sharpness of fresh tomatoes. Chicken Piccata, the Beurre Blanc (French?) sauce was broken and flavorless so the plate of food was a watery mess, with little pieces of chicken and almost unidentifiable floating vegetable pieces. My wife ordered the Mad Greek Salad, if I had ordered this salad I would have been MAD! When you think of a Greek salad you expect to get salad dressing with high quality olive oil, nope it's flavorless oil and lack of toppings! Take a pass unless you just want soggy lettuce, this salad is A Big Fat Greek Fuhgeddaboudit! Eggplant Parmigiana, heavily breaded deep fried from frozen medallions with a little tomato sauce spooned over the deep fried medallions some mozzarella put under the broiler to melt the cheese. See chicken parmigiana for tomato sauce comment. Banquet quality definitely not nonna's eggplant parm casserole! The couple at the table next to us said, oh well it's Valentine's Day, what can you expect?…nice having customers set the bar low for your establishment Donny G. I think you should have forecasted Donny G and ANTICIPATED! Donny G you should have had more staff available for this special dinning day. Our waitress didn't spend any time at our table. She was running back and forth, taking care of multiple sections! She'd pop by and asked if we were ready to order, if we said in a moment she'd run off and came back in 15 minutes, we only saw the special menu when I decided to pickup the last menu off of the table. Our waitress didn't explain or sell us on any specials? However, she did find time to tell us, It's always best to order dessert first, it tends to make everything that comes after dessert taste much better. I think she was trying to be cute, but it came off as a backhanded compliment directed at Donny G's? Seems like the restaurant needs better management, a head chef, with a kitchen brigade, because that kitchen was a hot mess. The bar was slow making drinks, especially making drinks from their own menu, they needed help too. The upside to our night was 1, We had a great time with friends! 2, Because we asked to speak with the manager, Donny G picked up our bar tab since we had issues waiting so long to get our drinks and food! 3. Despite all that didn’t go well, we tipped our waitstaff well, it was the right thing. Bottom line, if you do not like spending good money on mediocre service or food, then this review should seriously be considered!

Made reservations for 8:30, its 9:11 and still not seated. Customers are sitting after eating with takeout containers and their bill and no rush from service. Whats the point of a reservation if we stand around and wait for 40 or so minutes. Do not recommend.
