We are local to the area and have been looking for a nicer, upscale place for date night that didn’t require driving to Greensboro or Durham. If I’m going to spend the money to dine out these days, I want it to be worth it. We’d seen little bits of the Mark online but didn’t know much about it. We were blown away—the quiet calm atmosphere, the food, the drinks, and the service were absolutely amazing. Our server was so attentive, made us laugh, and made great suggestions for us as first time visitors. We could’ve stayed and eaten and drank all night! We will definitely be back!
🥞🍳 Family favorite through and through—The Mark at Elon never disappoints. This has become our go-to spot for breakfast—and often lunch too—anytime we’re in town. We’ve been here countless times, and what keeps us coming back is the unbeatable combo of great food and even better hospitality. The staff is incredibly friendly and genuinely accommodating. They always go out of their way to adjust the TVs so our girls can watch Bluey during breakfast—which, as any parent knows, is a game-changer. It’s those little touches that make the experience not just enjoyable but memorable. The food? Always fresh, always delicious. My personal favorites are the chicken and waffles or their burger. Quinn is all about the pancakes, and Zuri loves their classic eggs breakfast. Every meal is consistently on point. If you’re looking for a warm, welcoming spot that treats you like family and serves up high-quality comfort food—The Mark at Elon is it.
Party of 11 and everyone enjoyed their meal at brunch in a private room for a 60th birthday. Everyone working here was very nice and accommodating for our large group. They asked if we would like them to cut and plate our birthday cake we brought and we happily accepted the offer. Meals for brunch were around $14-20 with options for carnivores, omnivores and herbivores.
Went for dinner last evening and we were absolutely delighted! The calamari was phenomenal and the bread was over flowing! Our drinks were brought promptly and Jada our waitress was awesome! My husband and I both had specials, he had prime rib and I had lobster…..yummy! Presentation was exceptional and the flavors were perfect. We enjoyed the cheesecake for dessert. The entire experience was top notch! Highly recommend and we will be returning💕😊
The hotel is beautiful. They could increase the frequency of housekeeping to the rooms. I stayed 3 days and they didn't change the towels.
The service was excellent and the food was excellent I have no complaints about the dinner we were served this is a place to celebrate special occasions
Great birthday weekend getaway. Healthy breakfast and the continental were great. We will return. Hopefully room service returns soon.
Ambience, class, customer service, and not to mention overall quality of food , I give all five stars! This place really understands the meaning of “attention to details”. We loved everything about our overall stay. It’s a hidden Gem that I believe won’t stay hidden for too long. ; )
Best waffle I have had in long time. Morgan the waitress was very attentive and on top of her tables.
The Mark never disappoints. Great food impeccable service and a lovely atmosphere. Beautiful place for a little getaway right here in Elon. They even have patio seating for a pretty day.
A great dinner experience! Thank you.
Popular spot for breakfast. We enjoyed it every morning. I can recommend the American breakfast (they call it something else), and my daughter enjoyed the pancakes.
Great food, excellent service. Nice ambiance.
Amazing service and a classy place highly recommend crab cakes fantastic really nice choices of wine can't wait to go back
Very nice place! Was thankful we didn't have to be overnight guests to make use of the restaurant facilities. Enjoyed lunch there with grandson who's attending Elon.
The lunch was wonderful and the staff treated us with respect. A must see!
Beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. Great food and friendly staff. Celebrated a wonderful birthday here🙂
We had no less that 8 people every meal all weekend and they handled us and the wedding party just fine. The hotel is beautiful, rooms are appointed with thought and the staff was great.
A wonderful dining experience not to be missed.
What a nice dinner place we had! Absolutely delicious food and a most attentive staff. Oh, almost forgot, we also had an incredible breakfast. Make a night and morning of it as we did
Today we enjoyed Mother's Day Brunch at The Mark at Elon. What a pleasurable experience! The hostess was welcoming and our server was attentive without being smothering. Our food was delicious, especially the mini sweet rolls which just melted in our mouths! Our experience was amazing and we look forward to returning! Kudos to all!
We visited in the summer. Breakfast and dinner were both wonderful. The staff and service were excellent. My favorite item from the seasonal menu was the pimento cheese grits. The signature cocktails were delicious. I would recommend it to locals, or visiting families.
What an excellent evening and meal with friends. The food choices were all executed with perfection. My steak couldn't have been better. The service was spot on, Jessica was great. Everyone said their entrees were excellent. Beverages selection was good. My creme brulee was really good but cold. Don't overlook the chocolate cake, wow! We went before and it was good but this time I'd say great!
Our great waiter actually made the grits in the excellent shrimp & grits! A fine wine list, attentive service, and a luxe hotel. Good Caesar salads, terrific she-crab soup (best my wife ever had), at our table. A very pleasant experience.
We went for Brunch and the food and service were great. Our waitress was Katie and she was very good!!
We enjoyed a fantastic lunch here with my son on a Saturday afternoon. The presentation of the food as well as the favor was delicious. We all had something different from the menu and all of three of us were thrilled. The service was wonderful too. Laura of Raleigh
Food was great! A wonderful environment and the service was amazing!
The breakfast is ok, nothing spectacular. It's nice inside. The waitstaff was nice.
Had both room service and lunch while staying at the Inn at Elon. Good food- had the arugula salad and club sandwich during lunch, both of which I’d recommend. Service just a little slow, but not unexpected during a very quiet part of the summer.
It was a good spot for brunch/lunch. They were decidedly understaffed as is the case with many places right now (but not necessarily their fault). The food was fine but I don't know if I would travel to campus specifically for it. But if you're nearby and need a place to eat then it'll do the trick. I had a frittata and others in our family had omelette and waffles. Everything was good and cooked well but nothing spectacular
I ordered the tiger shrimp cocktail. The shrimp was so overly cooked it tasted like clay, and the cocktail sauce was way too sweet. Do not order this appetizer.
The food is not bad, but I will not return, nor will I recommend this place to anyone else. My wife and I went for lunch today. After we arrived, we waited at the reception station for at least five minutes even though a couple of members of the wait or busing staff noticed we were there. Once we were seated, the waitress was fairly prompt, but did not seem to know too much about the menu. I was disappointed in the menu selection for lunch and the prices seemed high. I ordered a glass of pinot noir and, on the pour, the wine was clearly brown, indicating oxidation. It tasted like it had been left in an open bottle way too long. As I mentioned, the food was good, though slow and expensive. We left with a $70 tab, which I think is quite overpriced for the area, the service, and the wine.
We did the valentines day special and although there was nothing particularly wrong with the food, I felt compelled to leave a review. The food was good, but not '$65 per person good'. The only reason I left a review is because the waitress didn't know anything about any of the menu items. I asked for recommendations and she had none. I asked about a particular side item that was included with my filet, and she had no clue what it was. Maybe she was new, but she needs to be familiarized with the menu to help customers, especially when the bill was over $160. For a valentine's special, you'd expect some special touches like flowers and romantic music to create an atmosphere, but the music wasn't even turned on until halfway through dinner. It seems like atmosphere and decor is an afterthought. This is a very expensive place to eat, and you need to put in extra effort to make it worthwhile.
Very pricey$ Pretty well prepared and presentation is fine. There never seems to be much going on. We are quite bored with the same kind of short menu for lunch and not much for low carb dieting. The menu needs to change. You know, variety...perhaps with the seasons? Fried chicken and grits and buns and fries as well as I broke down and ordered a burger cooked med. It showed up med well Friendly staff and service is okay
It's pretty hard to recommend the mark for the price. We spend 120 dollars which is a lot for what we got. If it was half that, I could understand.
I have to say the service was excellent. The virgin bloody Mary I got was absolutely fantastic and the grits and shrimp that my friend got she loved. However, I got eggs, Benedict and asparagus. The hollandaise sauce was really melted butter, salty very salty. The egg was a hard boiled egg. Both of them and the bacon was bacon and bacon, and it was very, very salty, not sugary as in candied bacon. The asparagus was salty, but I was hungry so I did eat the asparagus. I I was totally surprised. I know to make a good hollandaise sauce. Somebody needs to know what they’re doing, but this was a tragedy. For the atmosphere and the location, I would’ve expected much better
Service was great! Place was clean! Food.....not so good. The 2 stars is for the service. I wanted to love this place but the she crab soup was cold and needed salt. My second order needed salt 😔. Spent a hefty amount $$$ for unsalted tasteless food.
The shared plates were ok. We ordered the rosemary pasta but it tasted nothing like rosemary. The desserts were not good.
We stayed in the hotel that had the hotel in it and ordered room service from the restaurant. Literally the only reason I didn't give them one star was because I liked the sliders. Half the food was pretty much unedible. One of the appetizers was so burnt that it wasn't even edible, the salmon was so bland that I took two bites and put it down. I have not been this disappointed in a meal in a long time. $75 a piece and I felt like I've had better airport food.
I don't know if they were short staffed today, but it took me 45 minutes to get yogurt and granola. The servers were very nice but seemingly frustrated by the kitchen. Also, I'll be damned if their biscuits are house made. Their grits, however, were fantastic.
Horrible steak that was sent back twice and had to be taken off the bill. First one terrible and the second was rushed on high heat so outside burnt and inside raw. $50 and would have been better from Waffle House.
Unfortunately, I was not very impressed. The ambiance was beautiful and relaxing I will say. And the server was great also. But the food just wasn't up to the standards I expected. The soup was very bland. And not hot. The salad was lite on everything except the greens. Even the dressing. The empanadas were dry and had a greasy after taste. One little loaf of bread with loads of butter. My margarita was good. And also the calamari. I can't say I will give them another chance simply because there's nothing I can come back to knowing it will be good. Hopefully this will help the restaurant itself. Also this just may not be up to MY liking. Others may love it.
We stood waiting for some time to be greeted and sat while the hostess chatted with another employee. We asked to sit at an open table by the window, but we're told no because they were holding it for some regulars. Two other parties were served before us that came in well after. Once we had our food we never saw our server again until she brought the bill. We had no drinks while we ate. Food was okay though.
Went there for our girlfriends Christmas celebration. Be aware, they are Holiday neutral. That's what I was told by staff as to why no Christmas trees were in the place. Poinsettias, wreaths, red ribbons everywhere. If you're "Holiday" neutral, no decorations should have been displayed at all. On a positive note. The staff was great. Food delicious. Just know that everything listed on the menu is not always available. That has been the case everytime I've been there.
My wife and I had Thanksgiving dinner at the Mark and it was disappointing. Although we had been assured in advance that all items on the special menu would be available when we dined at 4pm, that proved not to be the case. Both the candied yams and the pecan pie had "run out" when we ordered. The turkey was also very disappointing. I asked for dark meat, which was unavailable. The slices of breast meat were apparently from commercial boneless breasts and tasted artificial. While the rest of the meal was satisfactory, overall it was not worth the price.
I really wanted this to go well and like it. Had family come into town and wanted to show them Elon again since my wife and I graduated from there. We got seated at 7:30 and left at 10pm without getting any food beyond 2 appetizers total and 1 drink each that took 1.5 hours to get to us. The waitress we had didn’t even come back to our table for the last 40 mins of our dinner. We had to find another person who told us that the food was coming out in 2 mins. We waited 15 mins more only to not get our food. Beyond that they messed up the 1 drink we ordered by bringing us the wrong drink and said they were out of 3 food options about 1.5 hours into us being there. It looks like any other regular hotel bar with some tables to eat at. Probably a one and done for this Alumni, we aren’t coming back again.
Made a reservation for 6 months ago for the evening before my son’s graduation. We were expecting to be seated in the restaurant with a full menu. To our surprise we were ushered into a ballroom that was lit up like a stadium and we’re seated at a massive table for ten and had to shout across the table at each other. It was a massive buffet, my kid noted it was the same food as the dining halls. Cold prime rib. Gooey yellow asparagus. The drinks were inconsistent and very late. The filthy dishes piled high up in front of us throughout the meal. And the salmon was labeled “Salomon” wow. This was not at all the meal we intended to treat our family (who traveled across the country) to. $55 per person was criminal for this awful bad-wedding like experience.
The food was okay/good. Our service was abysmal. Our waitress seemed to be hating life. She took our order and brought our food. That was it! We asked for our check and waited and waited. We finally had to ask for the manager to bring our check. I had ordered a mimosa. The champagne or prosecco was flat as water, so I was left with watery seeming orange juice. The decor reminded my daughter of a local nursing home dining room. Our table was uneven, and bumped up and down. The people next to us had phenomenal service. Their waitress was chatty, animated and visited their table often and they actually got refills on coffee and water. The dining room was not packed, so I don’t think our waitress was overwhelmed with tables. It was very disappointing. I wanted to like it, because it is on the campus of my Alma mater, but won’t be going back. The food/experience was not worth the cost. I will try at least their wine tasting event to see if any better before I completely write them off
Had reservations for Thanksgiving 2024. Arrived with plenty before reservation to wait behind a party of 3 that had called in earlier and was seated before us. We then had to wait to be seated per staff. Approximately 15 mins later, we were seated. It then took more than 15 more mins for someone to acknowledge us, receive menus and water. Another long wait, for wait staff to take our order, we were notified 2 of the listed side (mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes) were all gone and being substituted (mac & cheese and green beans). Our appetizers came out, 1 calamari and a salad - that was missing 3 of the missing listed components. Entrees came - prime rib was missing horseradish and was cold. The other was missing another side, due to being out of also. Spoke with manager and he stated it was a busy day. Odd, since reservations were "required". For desert, they were out of 3 of the listed, so we decided on bread pudding and souffle. Another long wait and waiter came out with 1 desert, bread pudding. Which was and end\corner cut and cold. The entire experience was terrible. Waiter Tom was great, it wasn't his fault management or lack thereof, doesn't know how to run a so called "up scale" restaurant.
We made a 4:15pm reservation back in December, looking forward to celebrating Valentine’s Day in what we hoped would be a beautiful setting in my hometown — a place I grew up in and care deeply about. I’ve owned my own business for over 35 years and rarely write reviews, so for me to take the time to do this should say something about how disappointing this experience was. When we arrived, we were seated in the bar area. That wasn’t a big deal to us — it was an early reservation and we don’t drink, but we were happy just to be there together. There were two couples seated before us and two after us. Every one of them was helped promptly. We were not. It took about 15 minutes just to receive water. Our waiter asked about drinks from the bar; we declined, though my wife did order a tea. We then ordered two appetizers, which took about 30 minutes to arrive. I even had to ask for menus so we could order our entrées — something I shouldn’t have had to do, especially since other tables were given menus immediately upon being seated. Then came the most frustrating part. We waited an hour and a half and still had no dinner. During that time, our waiter never checked back on us. Instead, he seated another couple at the same shared table and began serving them completely — while my wife and I sat there with menus but nothing else. No updates. No explanation. No acknowledgment. It was embarrassing and incredibly disappointing, especially on Valentine’s Day. As a longtime business owner, I understand that restaurants get busy and that mistakes happen. What matters is communication and basic attentiveness. Unfortunately, we received neither. This was supposed to be a special evening. Instead, it turned into one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had — particularly disheartening in my own hometown. I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously so no other couple has to experience the same treatment. – Mike
