I’ve tried almost every sushi place in the triangle area. We drive 35 mins to get takeout dinner here at least once a month. Great sushi roll choices and a great price with the multiple rolls deal. This place is fantastic and couldn’t recommend it more. If you’re a sushi fan and have not been here, definitely check it out. The ichiban roll and in-and-out roll are my favorites.
My kids love this place. It is very good Sushi at least in our humble opinion. We go at least once a month there and enjoy the good food. It's a quite place but we like it.
Such an unassuming place with delicious sushi. I got a sushi combo (Harbor Combo) and it was some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. Simple and perfect.
I’ve been here several times now, each time the sushi was even better than the last. Wide range of sushi rolls to choose from as well as some unique and tasty appetizers. Sushi Nikko is a, if not THE, hidden gem of Carrboro. We will be regulars.
I've never been disappointed in the sushi rolls or sashimi here - excellent. Highly recommend as an escape from the usual Carrboro fare or just to get sushi because let's face it - it's one of the best meals on the planet.
Sushi is some of the best I've had, anywhere... and I've had sushi in Tokyo and lived in California for nearly 20 years. The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired... good decorations but too dark and old. GO FOR THE SUSHI... its great! They were also very nice.
The rolls at sushi Nikko while being a touch too sweet are delicious. I’ve been here enough times to have tried the majority of the 50+ rolls and have never been disappointed. The staff is kind and respectful though a slight language barrier that does not come up often. The atmosphere is quiet and tranquil. This is always be one of my favorite spots in Carrboro, and in contention for the best sushi in ChapelBorro.
The sushi is good but I wanted to try something else and regret that decision. Last night I got chicken yaki soba, it tasted like something was scorched and they just took food off the top and served it. The time before that I ordered chicken teriyaki and that was bad as well. If you do order here, please just order sushi. I wasted my money on an entrée that went to the dumpster.
I'm giving 3 stars because the sushi is good but the service is not. The lady that works there is rude and lacks customer service skills. Bad service will cause me not to return.
Overall, I cannot complain about the meal. It was satisfying. I started off with some gyoza which was decent. I then enjoyed some different types of sushi (California roll, tuna, and crunchy roll). All were decent and what I would respect to find in the area. In all, I would consider a future visit.
We ordered miso soup ($6), a salad ($10), 3 rolls Aloha, Crunch Dragon, paradise, ($35), and sake ($27). The tuna was chop meat style (like cat food consistency)- yuck. The crab was shredded too vs a pice/stick. She did give a free serving of green tea ice cream. We were the only ones in here for dinner. Lots of take out orders. Not impressed, was recommended by Foodie Group we belong to. Toilet had dirty ring. Mens room equally nasty. Not our best sushi dining experience for $91.
We visited this evening around 8:00 PM and were the only customers. While the restaurant was clean with pleasant background music, the overall experience was poor, especially given the prices. The Food We ordered the Shrimp Katsu ($16) with rice and the Beef Teriyaki ($18), since they were out of the Salmon Teriyaki. A major red flag was hearing a series of loud microwave beeps immediately after placing our order. The food came out after 10-15 minutes. The Positive: Both of our meals came with excellent rice that was fluffy and fragrant, and a small side salad with a standard ginger dressing. The Disappointment: My Shrimp Katsu was highly disappointing. It tasted nothing like shrimp and resembled processed meat, similar to imitation crab, but shaped like mozzarella sticks drizzled with sweet mayo. The texture and flavor were clearly not fresh shrimp. My wife’s Beef Teriyaki was also underwhelming. The beef was chewy and served over soggy lettuce, with a very basic, overly sweet teriyaki glaze. The Service The lone waitress was polite but demonstrated poor customer service skills. The most jarring part of the meal was when she began to hover near our table while we were eating, making us feel rushed. At 8:20 PM, she told us they were closing at 8:30 PM, pressuring us to finish quickly. Their Google listing clearly states a 9:00 PM closing time. As someone who tries to support local Asian cuisine, I was genuinely disappointed by both the low quality of the food and the pushy, rushed service. We will not be returning. Too expensive for low quality food.
Am I hallucinating? The reviews telling you this place is good are lying. The sushi rice is bland and warm and the fish tastes like pureed nothing. I had the worst spicy tuna roll of my life here, and I'm saying that as someone who ate sushi in a small town in the Deep South. The food is super pricey for the portion size, too.
Used to be one of my favorite sushi places. Now feels like an Atlanta night club, with bad sushi. The service was beyond awful. The fish was brown. The bathrooms dirty. Took over 40 minutes to get our beer from initial order. Not busy for a reason. So incredibly disappointing for what used to be one of Charlotte’s best.
