Amazing flavor in both bahn mi and (surprisingly) egg rolls, apparently made by grandma. Friendly, great service. Simple spot, not much seating. Get in before this joint is overrun by hipsters!
Didn't have any expectations. Ordered a vegetable with chicken version of cashew for lunch. Thanks for the guidance Miriam. Delicious! Terrific staff and service. Fast, friendly, fabulous. I will be back.
We just had dinner here because my in laws recommended it. My husband and I got an appetizer and an entre and we're able to split it. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. They made sure we had everything we needed and were in and out quickly. Definitely already looking forward to going back.
I truly love this little restaurant. The pineapple fried rice is wonderful and the yellow curry is so delicious. But, what I really appreciate is that the taste of the dishes is consistent each and every time. Plus, the waitstaff is very friendly, they serve large portions, and the cost is very affordable.
Super yummy, solid place! We ordered the potato wonton, see yew, & the pineapple rice! Since we got the family plates, it was more than enough for my party of two (we even had leftovers). I reccomend the wonton! It pairs well with the sweet and sour sauce-- def my fav. They did not dissapoint with the thai tea either. We ate in, but throughout our entire meal they had a steady flow of to go orders so that's an option too. As for the service, there were three main waiters, but they also handled all the to go orders and more responsibilities. This made it so that the service was a bit "aloof," but we also have to be understanding. We still go our food on time (wasn't cold and stuff) and we could always catch a waiter if we needed anything else.
Great food, great service. Highly recommend!
Great food and service, and the prices are fair as well! Plus, they make it as hot as I like it. Flavors and portions are amazing.
Food was great and they must have seen us coming because our meal was on our table in under five minutes!
Great neighborhood thai place, convenient and delicious!
Really good food. Super fresh and delicious! Had a couple different items on the menu and everything has been great. Pad Thai is always good (level 4 spicy). This last time I had the Yum salad with shrimp and It was a great choice for something lighter. The curry is always a good choice too.
The place is so well decorated that you couldn't help by looking at each piece that they put up on the walls and ceiling. From the bathroom look out to the front desk it looks like you are walking amongst trees. It was so pretty. The food is fabulous. It had the best taste of Thai Food that I have eaten. The spiciness was done perfectly to my taste and the food was so flavorful this is my go to place now.
Always get spicy noodles I do a 9 or 10 for spice level and it does not disappoint. I either get it with chicken or shrimp both are delicious. If I go there early I do the lunch special cause you can't beat the price with all the extras. Also a must is a glass of there sweet delicious plum wine, and singha beer.
Lunch was incredible. I had the yellow curry. It was heaven.
I’m so sad we have to move so soon after finding our favorite Thai restaurant. I love things really spicy but my partner likes things mild. Everything was incredibly flavorful even at a level 3. They were also accommodating for the graduation party we held for my nephew’s girlfriend. Sure there was an 8 year age difference in their relationship, but the food was so good no one brought it up.
I love this place. I regularly order carry out and dine-in at least once a week. Consistently great food, very friendly and efficient service, and very clean kitchen. My favorites are the fresh spring rolls with tofu, pad thai, and the spicy beef salad. The portions are big and the prices are very reasonable. They offer lunch specials too. I highly recommend.
I’ll be honest. Wants too stoked to eat here, but I was wrong. The drunken noodles were absolutely amazing. I’ll definitely be ordering that again soon. The Pad Thai with chicken was also really good. I recommend those but with a spicy level 8 if you like nothing too spicy but a nice little kick .
All time local favorite! The only thing is that tables with half booth (against wall) are a little too close to each other so I didn’t feel comfortable sitting so close to people from next table. Other than that, food is great and employees are courteous👍🏻🙂
I love the restaurant, the location right off the 15 fwy, the food is delicious!!! I ordered the yellow curry chicken mild spice level 3 out of 10. The portions are big too! I rate my plate 10 out of 10!!! It had the perfect smooth delicious flavor or coconut and curry. The food is cooked right by you, so it's all fresh and right out of the wok ! I'm definitely making thisy go to Thai restaurant in North county.
Great experience. I forgot my credit card and the personnel kept it secured until I could retrieve it. They asked for my identification which is the correct thing to do. Thank you guys. I strongly recommend this restaurant. Great food!
Easy parking and excellent service! The Thai tea was spot on perfectly done. We had pad Thai and Penang curry plus tom kha soup. All were good. The soup was broken due to being slightly overheated, but the attentive service more than made up for it. Great and convenient location, we will be back.
Great tasting food and service! I love the fresh Thai chili peppers.
Ghai Kua is my absolute favorite dish here. Can't go wrong with it! Protein of choice is chicken...always lol. Definitely recommend getting something from the appetizer section. Really clean restaurant. A bit tight in space but over all the smell ans flavors that fill up the room build up an appetite. Staff are all really kind and friendly and my compliments to the chefs because I have not had a bad dish served to me to this day any time I go and dine in. Really is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in San Diego. I highly recommend anyone to come try and check them out. You won't be disappointed.
Panya has become our go to places, when we travel from Los Angeles to the Harra's Casino and resort. The food is delicious. You get big shareable Portions. The Orange Chicken, beef broccoli, Pad Thai, Spring rolls and Steamed rice were Amazing. The Restaurant has indoor/outdoor sitting, men and women's restrooms, hand sanitizer available in various areas. Very clean and friendly staff. If you don't finish your food, you can take it to go. I took my left overs to Los Angeles and when reheated, still amazing. Thank you very much to the friendly staff. We are a groups of 6 and payed $69.
The food was amazing with great host and staff.. its our go to whenever we are visiting SD or surrounding areas
The Pad Thai is out of this world. I will go out of my way to eat at Panya Thai every chance I get. It does not disappoint and is consistent in its quality. Go for it!
I’ve been eating for years now. I’ve been to many different Thai restaurants in north county and downtown and this place still tastes the best.
We love this place! For both dine in and take out, but honestly with a brand new baby it’s been mostly takeout lately 😅 they are always fast, the order is accurate, and portions are generous! Their staff is always very kind. I’m pretty sure my husband would eat here every day if he could.
I came alone and they still treated me so well! I was hungry but boy was I surprised - they give you such good amounts! Salad was plentiful - price was more than fair - such beautiful display.. the thick country noodles along with the savory horseradish dressing was so good. fresh plump tomatoes n cucumbers. They have a nice wine selection so that was a bonus. no wifi though - that would be a great business lunch spot with wifi. It was phenomenal - Service is great, food quality is great! I will be back!
Everything was good and fast cooking no need to wait. I like it and will come back again.
Simply outstanding! Authentic Thai. Pad se ewe was outstanding and the service was top notch. Drunken noodle at 5/10 spicy was hot—but good!
Fantastic food. Very spicy, recommend spice level 3.
I went in there early afternoon and had the lunch special. It was delicious, and I found the price more reasonable than most sit down and order restaurants. First came a great soup, and as I was finishing that, here came the main dish. Service was spot on, and it has a decent view out the window to Escondido. I'm surprised this place isn't busier, and I'm coming back soon
Consistent and amazing vegan options. All restaurant prices have gone off the charts in the last few years but I still feel like I get value for money here. Spice levels run high but that's how I like it. I love cashew tofu and their tofu satay skewers...can't go wrong when you're in town
This place is one of the best Thai restaurants I’ve been to in San Diego county. I’ve been here twice in the last few months and it was amazing both times! We had their Thai iced tea, pad Thai and spring rolls. They also serve some of the best mango sticky rice seasonally, which is a must for dessert!
My first time visiting this restaurant and let me tell you that the food was AMAZING! Well seasoned and flavorful. Our waiter Tien was the best! Very attentive and going out of his way to make our visit memorable and comfortable by providing extra fans along with the AC to our comfort level. Also with Max and Randall assisting to make sure all went well. Super happy and impressed with the service and quality of food, that I’ll definitely be returning. I highly recommend this place!
We had a delicious lunch here. 80s music in the background. You can look into the kitchen. Food and drinks were served swiftly. Friendly staff, plenty of chicken in our dishes. We needed to go bags because our portions were too large ☺️ More to enjoy later! We had pandang curry with chicken (in a bowl) and pad Thai with chicken
I come here for lunch about once a week and this place is always on point. I usually order the pad thai lunch special amd it is delicious! I usually dont really care for the Pad Thai dish but this place seriously makes it soo good! Their curries are also good, highly recommend the yellow curry. My wife ordered the tum tuk soup and it was delicious!
Food is great, staff is friendly, price is reasonable. Ordered spicy noodle. Got a good portion. The only complaint, which isn't really a complaint but more of an observation, their spicy level is spicier than other places.
I had the sweet and sour shrimp lunch special. The sauce was really good, the shrimp was tail on, which made it messy to eat. The spring rolls and won tons were truly heaven sent. The soup that was served was interesting, but nothing I would order again. I was told by my niece that was having lunch with me that the food was good but not great, and I trust her knowledge of Thai food. She said she would go back, and I was only impressed with the egg rolls and won tons and might have to go get some of those to go. Give it a try if you like Thai food. Apparently, I don't like Thai food.
Pretty good lunch special that comes with a soup, salad, spring rolls and wantons. Things can be a little inconsistent (like cold soup or cold wantons), but you do get a very fulfilling meal for a nice price. The flavor profile is pretty good.
My boyfriend and I love to come to Panya Thai! The people are always so friendly and welcoming and we’ve become such regulars that they know the items we typically order!
We always order out because we have small children. Service is always wonderful when we come in to pick up/order. Food is DELICIOUS and portions are generous. Only reason I am giving 4 stars is because it got REALLY expensive. Last time we ordered only 3 entries and paid $60. I was blown away! Our order wasn't anything special either: chicken fried rice, Panang curry with chicken, and beef Pad See Ew. Unfortunately, we won't be ordering again for a while due to the high cost.
Great place to go for Thai food. The staff is great and very friendly. Food is authentic and very tasty. Not to be missed
The standard for me for Thai food quality is Pad thai and eggplant with basil. Compared to other thai restaurants, the food is very good. Wonderfully delicious for me, however the service was terrible for a locally owned business. We saw our waitress twice, once to take our order which was disappointing. We looked over a neighborhooding to see lobster dish that looked awesome but when we asked for it, our waitress told us it was a special non menu item and didn't offer it to us...pissed off way to get started. We NEVER had our waters refilled. Our bill for two items was nearly $50...overall not a fan when food is good and service is terrible.
Wife and I have dinner here. Customer service is great, small restaurant bit the place is very clean and neat. Parking is plenty. We ordered the Thai papaya salad level 5 spicy, Spicy Thai noodles level 4, Tom Tum shrimp soup, and Spicy Duck stir fried with veggies. All are tasty, yummy and very good except for the Spicy Duck. I forgot to take all the picture until midway of our meal (We destroyed the soup and papaya salad already) LOL. We completed our dinner with Sticky rice and Mangoes. Will come back here again for sure.
First time visiting Panya Thai Kitchen. Overall a nice experience. Clean restaurant and bathrooms which is always a plus. Friendly and attentive staff which is always important. Food though was just okay for us. Started with the Tom Kha which is coconut milk soup with mushrooms and herbs. That was pretty good. For our main meals we got the chicken Pad Thai and Pineapple fried rice. The pad Thai is made with thin rice noodles with tamarind juice, egg, bean sprouts, green onions, and peanuts. It was good but maybe next was served to me very soupy like. Like there was broth on the bottom of my plate. I've eaten a lot of pad Thai before and this was pretty wet compared to other places. The pineapple fried rice was good. Good size portion! We got ours with beef and chicken. For dessert we got the mango sticky rice. Also good but the rice also was kinda soupy vs sticky. They were packed tonight so I'd definitely want to try them again when they're not as busy. Oh also this is one of those places that doesn't have fountain sodas. It's the $2 for a can type thing just FYI. A little pet peeve of mine. Overall everything was good. Just like other places a bit better
Seasonings and presentation were good, but out of three different dishes the sweetness level was too high and even in the spicy food the sugar took over. I won't return unless I can ask for 3/4 less sugar in my meals. Service was friendly. You'll love it if you are a super sweet tooth!
My husband had the spicy noodle and it was fantastic! I ordered the green chilly with chicken and it was disappointing. There was no taste. I have had green curry here before and pad Thai and both have been awesome. This was the first time that I did not like my food. I love their lunch specials with the soup, salad and the sides. Very filling and satisfying. Wish I had ordered the green curry today 😟
This Thai place has food with so much flavor and the lunch menu has great options for a good price. The service was great. Sadly, when I asked for a little more rice he gave me a scoop and charged $4 for rice. So while the service was great, it also wasn't. Your best bet is pet the order to go and still sit in the great atmosphere.
Thr price of 2 pad thai reached about 60 bucks.... decent food, but not worth that price by anymeans. The lunch special here and the portions aren't bad however.
They trick you on the price the food looks good then they trick you on a rice bowl that cost way over the amount
The "How are we doing?" Text this number on the receipt does not work so here we are with a 2 star review unfortunately. I have been coming here on and off over the last 10 years. I've had a lot of time to observe things and also it's impossible not to notice the recent price increase. I don't go here super often so it's easy to notice that each visit gets worse. Just a few years ago the lunch special used to be $25 for 2 people, sometimes even including a tip in that total! Now fast forward to this week where I spent $34 on a lunch special (dinner price would be $45!). It is simply no longer a good deal. Is the food still good? I would say it remains the best Thai food in Escondido but it now comes at a high price. Additionally their add-on ingredients are overpriced at $2 per ingredient. They are missing from Uber Eats. My drink was messed up on my last order and they dramatically decreased the size of the drink cups while raising the prices. I get it, inflation but this place seems to be way higher of an increase than other places so I can't blame that entirely. The food on my last visit was not as good as I remembered and the drunken noodles seemed like they gave me the leftovers at the bottom of the pan or something, instead of wide noodles it was little bits and pieces and it was also very greasy. Overall this is no longer a go-to Thai food place for me like it was for so many years and I will consider driving slightly out of my way for better options in the future.
Went here for the first time and was not impressed. I live with a Thai family and have cooked my own curry before. They didn’t put enough of the actual curry paste in and did not let the vegetables simmer in it long enough. Even the chicken tasted under cooked. It was basically barely cooked raw veggies in a lightly seasoned coconut milk soup. I hope that this was just a bad night? I saw several people return there plates in the 30 minutes we were there.
I ordered lunch special #17 eggplant with calamari. The sauce was missing something. It tasted like soy sauce with chili paste. The soup was good. The salad could have been good, but all the dressing was sitting at the bottom of the small bowl and couldn't be mixed in. My friend ordered #1 with calamari, medium spice and she couldn't eat much because it was too spicy. The menu is very basic Thai. Maybe they have house specials that are better? All in all, not impressive.
This review is based on the second visit to the restaurant. Although the food itself was good, the service was horrible. We arrived at 2:50pm, before the lunch special ended. I went to wash my hands while we waited for the server, and when I came back I asked if I could still order from the lunch menu. The girl server said she had already asked my husband and he had said he didn't want a lunch special. I explained to her that I went to wash my hands, there was still 5 minutes left, and he didn't speak for me. She said sorry but I already asked him. At this point I wanted to walk out, but we were already there and the last time we had been there the food was really good. She never returned to take our order, instead she sent the busser to take our order. After we got our food no one checked on us to see if we needed anything else. We had to get the bussers attention to get us our sides of rice, limes, and more water. He brought a carafe of water, but didn't bring back a glass. The service was just a disaster.
I ordered take out and asked for RED curry and pad thai the pad thai is great but the RED curry is yellow and I'm pretty sure it's actually Tom kha soup not even a curry it's whatever but I just wanted curry I couldn't tell at first in the bag just disappointed Edit the server confirmed it was supposed to be red curry
First of all, this was my first time here, what I wanted was pad Thai noodles but they had the wrong label on their online menu, the picture with the pad Thai noodles were labeled spicy noodles. So that's what I ordered. So instead of getting paid Thai noodles they gave me something else , I went back and told them to fix their menu. The young Asian girl ignored me and then proceeded to tell me that, it was my fault. I showed her a picture of the menu and she still wouldn't budge. Correction I went back to speak with the manager but only a third of my order was replaced. The only reason why I posted a review was because when I went to get a refund for the second time the asian lady was complaining behind the counter, saying that it wasn't their fault, her idiotic logic, our menu in here is correct. This lunatic, all I wanted was for them to correct their error on their online menu. She had no reason to be complaining because I had already convinced the manager to give me a refund. All she should of done was kept her mouth shut, she was trying to convince the manager to not give it to me.
We had Padzui and yellow curry. The chicken was tough and stale. The green vegetable tasted like moth balls. The carrots and potatoes tasted bad too. The price was $48, and we threw it all away. Went to another restaurant.
We visit this Panya Thai Kitchen at least once a week. Overall, the bad service of the girls that work there is why they receive one star from us. All of the girls are terrible at their job. They do not care to provide good service. No one gives you water even after you ask for it. They take the order and bring the food and then they disappear. All of them take their lunch break at the same time. If you call them during their lunch break, they are chewing food while they come to your table. It looks like no one is supervising them so they are doing whatever they like. One time we ordered two non-meat dish and as we were eating, we found meat in our dish. The server was very casual about it and did not bother to apologize or make up for it. We noticed that every customer has to ask for everything - call their attention take the order, extra napkins, water, condiments, forks, and check. Not once anyone comes to the table to see if anyone wanted anything. In one instance, one of the customers had to go to the girls where they were eating their lunch and ask them for water and the check. The poor guy was sweating due to spicy food. While the service is horrible, the food is very good. We recommend take out so you can avoid all those girls with bad attitude and bad service. It looks like the owners do not care.
I spent $77 on 3 dishes for a takeout order. I told them to make one dish spicy zero. Double confirmed. They made it spicy 10. We realized this when I got home. I called and they said “bring the dish back, we will remake it.” No other solution was offered. They said it was “policy” to remake it. No effort to make the situation right or better. Drive all the way back here, we will not comp the meal or give any add ons to make the situation right.
My wife and I have gotten takeout from here about 15 times. First of all, good food. If I was just giving a review for the food quality I would give 4. But there are some other issues with this place. About 1/2 of the time our order is not made correctly. Sometimes it's just that they give us white rice instead of the brown we asked for. Sometimes it's more of a big deal. Like they get the spice level wrong. Or they add an ingredient that we specifically ask for them to leave out. My wife has allergies so when this happens we have to return the food. If I'm lucky I notice the problem in the parking lot but sometimes I have to drive all the way back to get the problem fixed. I hate wasting that food that they messed up and I hate wasting my 45 minutes and the gas to drive back. Last night I was irritated with a completely messed up order and asked to speak to a manager and they wouldn't let me! First they told me that they weren't available. Then they told me they aren't there, then they told me that they don't have a manager at all. They were annoyed that I was asking. I don't know how they run their place. If you do get take-out food from here and you want to get exactly what you order I suggest checking your food before you leave the restaurant. They told me once when there was a problem with my order, after I placed it online, that it's better to call. But they have messed up my order plenty of times with phone-in orders too.
Unfortunately I have to re-reviewed this Restaurant, we love Thai food but last night my wife and I went there for dinner, everything was going well until I found a piece of clear plastic in my dish about half an each big but very sharp, I brought it to our servers attention he took it back to the kitchen and that was that, few minutes later I found another piece of the same plastic then I stopped eating at that time before something happened. The reason I brought it up to them was not to get a free meal but for them to check the whole batch of soup before someone really shock with it. They end up talking off my bill but the disappointment was that neither the Manager nor the Chef came out or even sent a massage that they will look into it. As much as we love Thai food I don't think we are going back. I'm sorry good food but I can't risk it.
They say they don’t close till 9:00 pm I called around 8:40 pm and they said their kitchen is cleaned whack service overall and just close at 8 if yall don’t serve till your closing time saying your open till 9 pm is false advertisement
i ordered online for pick up, When I showed up for pick up at the time specified they were closed. No way to contact them, the message machine was full. Essentially stole 85 dollars not to mention the inconvenience, they took the money for the order no way get a return and there was no notice on their website for orders of closure. I can’t give a low enough star.
Terrible customer service. I ordered online at 7:30. They messaged me like 15 minutes later telling me they were out of the orange chicken I ordered. I asked if we could sub for something different and they told me the kitchen was already closed. Their advertised hours say they close at 9pm. They said yes, but the kitchen closes at 8. How are you gonna close an hour before the restaurant closes. And with unfulfilled orders.
I have been coming here bringing family and friends since 2018, yet today was the last time I will ever eat here. I come for the duck dishes but the last 3 or 4 times the amount and quality of duck were very ooor. I mentioned this nicely each time and asked for attention to this before ordering today. The pi’s show what I got. Te, it’s mostly faux duck which is chicken made to appear like duck. Lost all respect for this establishment. Don’t waste your money.
after spending $210 hours on an order for pickup we get it home and there is hair in all the food. Absolutely disgusting! They kept me on hold and refused to refund the food
Server ( little Asian guy ) served my friend her fried rice to plate right on her hands . The food way way too salty I tried and returned a dish because the stake was dried and chewy and they would not accommodate us , understood but a manager could have came to talk to us and apologized, instead they made us feel as we were in the wrong . Worse service I’ve had in the last decade . I don’t know how they can call that beef .
These noodles have so much oil it shines. You know it's cheap noodles and made when the cook is done In 7 min making the food. I dinned in during lunch and saw it. They only have Asians working in the front but the people in the kitchen are not. If u dine indoors you get a salad. The small salad is good.
