Hello again! First time eating from this establishment. Ordered take-out for lunch. Got the food quickly and fresh. I suggest the tamales🫔. They were great! Also got a small order of guacamole. Wasn't sure about nacho chips. Didnt see them anywhere on the menu. Not sure if I just missed it, or what, but I did have some round tortilla chip things I just broke apart. Also, what's up with the radishes? Not sure i have ever seen that in guacamole or on any mexican food.... threw me off just a bit. Food was good! Reminded me of an authentic roadside tamale.
Absolutely love the veggie tacos and veggie burrito. Chips and guac are really good too, comes with a little bit of radish which is surprisingly delicious.
True Mexican food. The Elotes are excellent. The tortas and sopas can't be beat. And to top it off, they have a salsa bar that gives you great choices. The salsa is spicy and full of flavor, a combination that is often hard to find. No fountain drinks, but why would you when they have cold bottles of Mexican Coke.
Best Mexican food, ever. The only place we ever want to go! I always get the ensalada with birria! So, so good!
I grew up in Southern California and know real Mexican food. This place is the real deal! The food is very authentic and not "dumbed down" to appease the Midwestern palate that is often spice averse. The Thres Leches cake was delicious and the Jamaica was refreshing! I will definitely be back!
At first we almost walked out because we are used to sitting down, being served chips and salsa and looking over a menu. This is a walk up and order place but sooo000oo good!!! Very authentic and delicious!!! We still had chips and salsa and they even had a salsa bar to try different salsa. We will definitely be back 🙏
This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the greater Evansville area. Growing up in Texas and having been to Mexico several times I feel like my standards are a little higher on Mexican restaurants. The food has never disappointed here. The atmosphere is just right, no loud music so you can have a great meal and actually enjoy the company you're sitting with. I recommend this place to anyone I know in the area that asks about going out for Mexican food.
I have to say, this is probably the best and most authentic Mexican restaurant I have had in the Midwest. Born, raised, lifelong Los Angeles resident. When I travel outside of Southern California it is difficult to find authentic Mexican food… ESPECIALLY in the Midwest & east coast. La Campirana is on point.
This is our go-to for the best, authentic Mexican food in the Tri-State area. We've tried many others, but this isn't "Midwest Mexican" - it is so good! You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Their salsa bar and juices are oh so delectable. We keep coming back because it's worth the 40 minute drive!
La Campirana is an unassuming Mexican food haven. Their authentic, street food-inspired dishes are bursting with flavor. Try their birria, alambres, and a jarritos for a true taste of Mexico. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service make it a must-visit spot for Mexican food enthusiasts in Evansville.
I can’t say enough how much I love this place. Best tacos in town! I finally tried their shrimp taco and it blew me away. Best shrimp taco in town for sure. Everything was delicious as always. So much flavor. Even the tortillas are perfectly grilled, warm, soft and crispy. It’s always like being back home in LA when I’m here tasting their food. Also, I want to note that this place is always so clean and the staff always super friendly and helpful! Shrimp, Carnitas, Asada, Al Pastor! All soooo yummy!
Man ooo man! What's not to love about La Campirana? A place where we bring our family and meet our friends. The food is always excellent NEVER a disappointment from tacos to Bistec they bring the authentic taste I know we all look for here in the Evansville area. The friendly service from walking through the door, placing your order, suggestions, and even bringing your food to you while you relax and sit and catch up on the day is TOP-NOTCH! If you get a chance stop by grab a horchata or a smoothie a couple tacos and make some new friends.. You won't be disappointed it will be your go to for Mexican!
I stopped by for the first time today after hearing reviews and experiences from others. I was happy with my experience. I judge a Mexican restaurant by their tamales, and this one passed muster. The birria and the chilaquiles were tasty. Bean and rice were properly made. The salsa bar was a nice touch, they know how to bring the heat. I tried the mangonada smoothie and that exceeded expectations. You can get meals here under 10 bucks. The facility was clean and the staff was great. I'll be back.
La Campirana is a unique Mexican restaurant. You order at the counter, sit down and they bring your food out. They have a salsa bar but no chips like a standard Mexican restaurant. They might have chips that you can order, I don't know, but I have not seen any. Forget about the chips though... who needs them with food this freaking good!?! My wife and I are vegan and our kids eat whatever they want. I am impressed with the care La Campirana takes when preparing our food. Vegetables are not cooked along side of meat, the rice does not have chicken (or any other) stock/broth and they do not use lard in their beans. It is hard to find a Mexican restaurant that has "safe" rice/beans and take the care in preparing it without shared cooking surfaces or utensils. I know I am one of those annoying vegans but I really do appreciate it! I first visited La Campirana about 4 years ago. I got some vegetarian gorditas and all I remember was they were pretty spicy and really good. I had never had an authentic gordita before. I left a 5-star rating back then but there was no review with it here on Google. I decided I needed to write a review after eating there again this weekend. Our usual spots in Evansville were closed on Sunday when we were in town. We were kind of in a hurry and didn't want to do the full sit down meal but wanted something better than Moe's, Qdoba or Chipotle. Thankfully my wife remembered La Campirana! I ordered alambres (vegan style). It has onions, peppers and I added Mexican zucchini and potatoes. It also comes with rice and beans along with four (yes, 4) flour tortillas. You can opt for corn tortillas too but I prefer flour. My wife ordered sopes, also vegan style, and had grilled cactus with it. My youngest had a chicken burrito. We loved it! I had never had sopes before and I loved the corn bread base. It was quite different than what I would normally get at a Mexican restaurant. That was Sunday (2 days ago) we ate there. I had to run back down to Evansville this evening to pick something up. I brought my oldest son and got some driving practice in. We stopped by La Campirana for dinner before we left Evansville. I had alambres again but added the cactus this time. He had a carne something burrito. It was terrific again! The sautéed vegetables in the alambres are never too oily. It's not served so hot that you can barely eat or taste anything. The amount of food is perfectly sized for the four flour tortillas. It taste good and I don't feel terrible after eating it. I wish I didn't live almost 2 hours away! The staff up front working the counter and floor are all very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. I can't thank the kitchen staff enough for properly preparing vegan food. It's common for me to have meat accidently make it in my food at other restaurants. That is simply not the case here at all. Thank you La Campirana!
The best Mexican food in the Evansville area. Top quality, fresh ingredients. Do not miss out on this place, and get you a Mango Smoothie while you're there. This is a locally owned gem.

There was a sign on the wall saying this was the best Latin American food in Evansville..... if that's the case, I think Evansville is missing out on really great opportunities to have amazing Latin American food. It's not that it was awful by any means, but the food lacked flavor. I was visiting from out of town, and it's true there are MANY more south of the border style restaurants where I am from due to the incredibly huge hispanic/Latino population, so I may be a bit snobbish but I want to come across in a helpful way. The typical flavors of Mexican/Colombian/Venezuelan/Cuban cuisine which I am used to, were absolutely missing from the dishes I tasted at La Campirana. I had the flautas, my mother-in-law had a burrito, my wife had the soup, her aunt and cousin had quesadillas. I ate all of mine of course and tasted theirs, and unfortunately, it was all just bland. Thankfully there is a salsa bar, but none of the salsas were anything to write home about. The flautas could have been fried a little better, too. Maybe it was the kitchen crew that day, but an entire shift of people failing at their jobs is not likely--I'm thinking the problem here may very well be recipes. I dont prefer to simply tear down an establishment in these reviews, so I will end on 2 good notes, one being VERY GOOD. 1. I also got a side of refried beans. I love refried beans, and these were okay but the best part was the size, it was a rather large side dish. For me, that's a good thing. 2. The BEST part of the place was something I always pay special, close attention to, and that was its cleanliness and how the dining area smelled. The facility seems to have decent ventilation and was quite clean, kudos to those who keep it clean. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, but since I don't live in Evansville, that doesn't really matter. However, next time we're in town, if the mother-in-law suggests La Campirana, I will probably suggest we give a different hispanic/Latino restaurant a try.
We went here cause it has good rating on maps. Don't be fooled. We in northern indiana have been spoiled with the local Mexican restaurants and the flavors that come along with the authentic label. The burrito I got was mid at best. The first 1 I got wasn't made with the correct meat. I probably got the bottom of the barrel steak with the return on the chicken burrito they gave me. If your used to good quality authentic Mexican food and your from out of town I don't recommend this place. They were more than happy to chat it up and worry about the people they knew that were coming in for lunch and not so much the people eating in the dinning area.
