Really really good food. I highly recommend their chicken flautas and their homemade strawberry lemonade. I’m from Houston, but was sent to this area to work and I struggled to find good Mexican places in the area. I am glad I found this place with authentic Mexican food in Jersey City.
Great local place--the family that runs it could not be nicer. Very generous portions and good quality for the price--great value.
I've been eating here for years... The BEST mole enchiladas and breakfast burrito in the area. I've done lots of tests and keep coming back here. Their mole is made in house by an auntie (part of the family). It has incredible flavor - I get the cheese enchilada (it's Mexican so grilled not gooey). Their rice and beans are super flavorful. I honestly rate Mexican places based on how good their rice and beans are (like if you can't do the basics, then ...). And then their breakfast burritos. Perfect blend of egg, potato, cheese, onion/peppers, and spices. It's a reasonable size so you can enjoy it without being in a food coma. I love the family atmosphere here - truly a mom and pop. Only recently have I started dining in - and wow, the food is even better! This place has amazing food. Skip the burritos and go for the mole enchiladas. With the exception of their breakfast burritos - don't forget to try those too (offered all day). I always forget to take photos....
We got delivery and it was delicious! Try the tamales!! I’m something of a salsa verde connoisseur and theirs was great, even had a little spice! Mmm Tamarind water!!! Perfect, not too sweet. Gracias! Can’t wait to try more things!
Best burrito in town!!! It does depend on the days, I wish they would do actual totopos instead of nacho chips, but the rest of the food is so good that the nachos aint that bad... yes they close randomly, but just call ahead
THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD in the city. If you’re thinking about ordering here, DO IT! The food is very delicious. The service here is also amazing. The staff in the cashier are always kind and friendly especially the young lady that is in the afternoon. Definitely will come back to this restaurant.
Just stumbled upon this place and gobbled up the grilled Tilapia fish taco. As good as a fish taco can get, loved it! So delicious and fresh. Daniel is awesome and I highly recommend stopping by for authentic Mexican food !
Food was banging. People here really friendly. Not too busy here. Will def come back again and try all the tacos and burritos. Not as fancy as other places in the area but def better food. Coming here for Mexican when I’m in the area. Not going anywhere else for Mexican in the area to be honest lol
I ordered this for one of my clients because the price seemed reasonable. I was going to pick up the food and didn't see the venue at first. I finally found it and walked into a dimly lit place that was a bar and grill. I was greeted when I walked in and I proceeded to tell the server behind the bar I was there for a pick up. He knew what I ordered and put everything together for me. The server was very nice. I took the food to my client and took my share home. Everything looked and smelled great. The food was pretty good. I order grilled vegetables with rice and it was a good amount of food and everything was reasonably priced.
The place has a family vibe. Another addition to South American cuisine in the neighborhood. I stoped by for brunch. The place is clean and have a scent of fresh paint at the time. The food looked good but lacked flavor (IMHO). Service was good. The place is wheelchair accessible, and can easily accommodate multiple groups of 6 at a time.
We used to order food here, the food has been really hit or miss lately. But couple days ago, we ordered something for to go but the girl at the cashier was so rude. If you don’t want to deal with customers then don’t work at food industry.
The tortilla chips were brittle, guacamole was stale, rice and beans was not fresh, overall the food was a disappointment . The service and ambience was fine though
I ordered here for the first time recently. Usually I don’t give bad reviews right from the first bad experience because anyone can be having an off day or whatever. So I was willing to let the fact that the food was over 40 minutes late, go. I was willing to look past the meat in the burrito I ordered tasting old and gross. But then, I got sick. Stomach cramps, the runs, “the whole enchilada”, if you will. I strongly recommend not ordering from here. I won’t be, ever again.
Sol Azteca used to be an "ok" option for fairly priced Mexican Food delivery in Jersey City. The food was not cheap, but it was reasonable for downtown Jersey City. And let's face it, their are many of other solid options for Mexican Food in Jersey City. Recently I ordered from Sol Azteca and was very disappointed to see how much they raised their prices. They literally took a Blue Pen to the menu and just crossed off the prices of everything. Very professional job. See the attached pictures. It was also not as if they raised the prices 50 cents on each item. But even cheap items went up multiple dollars. Chips and Guac went from $5 to $7 (40% increase). Small side of Guac (big enough for just one person) went from $3 to $4 (33.3% increase). And everything else literally went up about 20% on the menu. For what it is worth, I do not think I will be frequenting here anymore. They can prob still sell food on seemless or grubhub at these prices but as a local I will take my business to other Mexican places in town now that Sol Azteca is one of the most expensive options here.
The menu sounded great, which is why it ordered but unfortunately, it fell short. We ordered via DoorDash on a Wednesday evening. We ordered a few tacos (I had lengua, which was pretty flavorless), an al pastor burrito, and a chorizo quesadilla. The al pastor meat was acceptable, but there was barely any al pastor in it. The burrito was mostly rice, which is one of my pet peeves. The chorizo quesadilla was probably the best part of the meal, even though it was pretty oily. But hey, it is chorizo after all so what can you expect? Another highlight was the red hot sauce. I'm not sure if it's homemade or not but it was excellent - tangy with the right amount of spice. We also ordered a Mexican Coke, which was missing and all they said was that they did put it in the order and that we would need to sort it out with Door Dash. After the meal, we found ourselves chugging water since everything made us so thirsty. Overall, it was average Mexican food, so probably won't be ordering from here again.
Awful service. They didn’t include the tacos I ordered and paid for so I called up and they said they would send them right over. They didn’t show up and then when I called them 30 minutes later they were closed…. Avoid this place at all costs or you might be left hungry and foodless….
