Great service and great food servings so large I couldn't finish. They only take cash so come prepared but well worth the money in service, hospitality, and food.

Love the tacos and the service here. Very friendly people. Authentic Mexican food. I recommend the rice and bean plate with your choice of tacos. My favorite meats there are: brisket, chicharrón, tripa, and puerco en salsa verde.

Great little secret spot for awesome Mexican homecooking. you've got to try their big 'ol burritos stuffed with authentic mexican fare for under $5. I also recomend the nachos, get em piled high with carne asada for about $6.

The burritos are good sized and simple, they dont add rice, lettuce, tomato or all that other mess. Meat, beans, cilantro, onion, cheese. Their tacos are VERY filled and decent sized, served on yellow corn tortilla and they add cilantro onions and the salsa for you, which is not very hot but they always give a chile toreado to go with it for that extra kick you might be looking for. They also have guisado plates that ive never tried because their tacos are so good but half the people i see go there get that and not tacos. So thats a good sign. Plenty of seating but limited parking. 4 tacos and an agua de melon is about $10 and you'll be pretty filled. Definitely recommend it. One of my top 817 choices.

I love Ernesto Taqueria. If you consume pork they have carnitas. They also have another Port called Verde spicy delicious. Cash only no credit cards. Please or you'll have to go to the ATM machine

The chicharon tacos are my favorite; not too fatty and not too much like beef jerky. I also like their chorizo, because it has a nice flavor, but isn't too overwhelming. I get the chorizo as a burrito with potatoes and beans. The plain quesadilla is also pretty good. I'm not a kid anymore, but a plain quesadilla dipped in their green sauce is quite an experience. The workers their are very polite and hardworking. There's always Mexican music in playing through the PA; this, along with the food, makes me feel like I really am in Mexico--minus all the extortion, corruption and random kidnappings.

I’m not even gonna lie. I was craving a lengua burrito today. And I couldn’t think of any other place. I was like Ernesto’s has a good rep. And I know their lengua has to be good. Sure enough I ordered lengua Burriro and a couple tacos. I got home and started eating. All I have to say is that. This is the best lengua burrito I have ever tasted. The people there through the window were so nice to me. I appreciate it. The burritos are of good portion and will Fill you up. Food is super delicious. If you treat them with manners and respect they will return the favor trust me.

Good food! Well cooked, flavors are a little muddled, but meat is incredibly well cooked. Carnitas were immaculate, but the barbacoa I'm not a huge fan of. Not super clean inside, but food is definitely worth the visit.

I used to go to benitos in diamond hill but sadly it burnt down. I was absolutely devistated. I thought i would never get their food ever again as they havent reopened. Until i found out there was another benitos off magnolia. I called them and asked some questions. They told me they also had a store called ernestos off hemphill. I live close to there so i hurried over there. I saw the menu was very similar. They had what i always get which is the puerco verde buritto and the puerco rojo burritos. I orderd it and it instantly took me back to when i was a kid eating benitos. Me and my family have been eating at benitos all my life and im 27 years old. With every bite i take from ernestos green pork burritos, i cant help but think about how amazing the flavor and the texture is. The salsa it comes with is spicy but not over powering. Its just the perfect amount of spice. It comes with beans, cheese, cilantro, and onion. They give you grilled onions and extra salsa on the side and i put them both on. I go there twice a week and omg just thinking about them right now is making my mouth water lol. Thank you guys for always coming through with the best burritos in town. God bless you guys and i hope you will be able to rebuild benitos in diamond hill again. You guys will always get my business. Yall hold a special place in my heart. THANKS AGAIN💙🫡

Came back today and I want to give it another star. Great place all around, still love it! One of the best Mexican restaurants around, hands down. I've been coming to this location occasionally for at least 10 years and it never disappoints. My mom, myself, and my son came in today around 2pm. There was no wait and we got greeted immediately. We ordered 2 plate burritos of green chile pork, 2 barbacoa tacos, 2 large aguas frescas & one small for my son. Total was about $42 before tip. The food was amazing! 🤤 10/10 recommend, if you're in the area, make sure to stop by! It is cash only so make sure to come prepared .

The food is fire here. They have good service too. It takes a minute but it's good.

*Cash Only* Do not come here with your credit card only or you will be forced to go back to an ATM or your preferred bank, which they're not very close by. Other than that, this is one of the best taquerias I've been to, flavor wise. The Tacos are big, full of meat, the aguas frescas are good, they have a lot of meats to choose from. There is some things I don't like. For example there are not salsas for the costumer to use while eating. You have to ask for it in the front. They DONT take card. And the place is kind of old, it needs to be remodeled.

Menudo is flavorful and always hot! Today it was waaaay spicey- couldn't eat it. But that has only happened once. Barbacoa tacos are really good. Lots of tables so there's always room for you too. If you only speak English- no fear- they can help you too! Prices: cheaper than any other eat-in Taqueria right now.

I love coming here! I been here several times, i typically get the carnitas and they are amazing. I switched it up to barbacoa today. I wasn't impressed but their lingua is really good too. In Sunday May 22, 2022 I tried Ernesto's for the first time and I loved it, I was going to give it a 5-Star Review and I noticed they only take cash not card well I understand since it's a family-owned business although they are keeping up the great work.

Been coming since 8th ave. & I agree they seem not to care anymore & are blunt but not rude . Lately the corn tortillas seen hard almost still raw & my lengua meat & carnitas wasn't as good as it used to be but the barbaco was good . I've gotta try the brisket tacos & yes the burritos are the bomb for the $$$$$$....

I love this place I know that every time I come here I will be leaving happy and full. The carnitas are awesome, we'll most of there food is great. The only thing I don't like is that they only take cash.

Good authentic Mexican food. Not your tex-mex type of restaurant. If you want real Mexican food, this is the place. They also have a drive-in window. I really like their Menudo. It is spicy. The only reason I am giving it four stars; limited seating.

My go to are the Puerco en Verde burrito and the brisket burrito. Some of the best, puerco en verde you'll can get. With the burritos, they always give me a little side of grilled onions. They would get five stars if they brought back the jalapenos toriados back. They used to make them and provide them with your meal but they no longer do the jalapenos.

Went there 2/12/23 Tacos were very good. Beans had gone bad, had a weird flavor. Rice was good.

First time there, got 3 taco, tortillas where old. Carnitas was chewy with no favor. If I didn't get the chill and onions it would have been tasteless.

Been coming here for years, but the last couple experiences haven't been the best. With being out of work I still believe I am helping out small businesses by coming in and purchasing food. After paying for my food the owner asked me for a tip on both occasions. I believe that is unprofessional to ask for tips. Tips are not a requirement. I felt pressured to tip the first time but I made him aware that I was not working at the time and he laughed and brushed it off. I was not amused by it.

Last week I went to Ernesto Taqueria for lunch. When I paid for my food. As I was given my change the employee put the tip jar in my face. Almost demanding that I gave a tip. I didn't think about it. I tipped then moved on. Later in the week I ate at Ernesto Taqueria. I was given my change and AGAIN the jar was shoved in my face. This behavior is unacceptable. In these times as much as I do not mind leaving a tip, I do not appreciate almost being bullied to do so.

They don't accept credit card. For the last ten years. The tortas aren't the same and the food isn't the same as when they first opened. They don't care any more. Sad I used to love this place.

They only make spicy menudo 😩 they would have more customers if they made non spicy menudo as well most of the workers don't speak English being in the food and beverage industry you should be able to speak both languages👎

When I went one of the employee was cleaning the tables then with the same towel cleaned the bottom trash can and then went to handle the food without washing her hands. Then went back cleaning table wasn't sure if with the same towel. PLEASE TRAIN EMPLOYEES TO ALWAYS WASH HANDS WHEN HANDLING FOOD. Tacos were alright, asada was too hard and tripas didn't have flavor. They should put salsa on the side, like other places. Some of us don't like it too hot. Customer service sucks not friendly.

The owners are a little stingy when you ask for an extra tortilla they wanted to charge me a dollar. Also if you ask for extra onions and cilantro they wanted to charge me for it where most restaurants gi ve it to you. Also no credit cards accepted here....

I was not impressed with the food at all. Actually, I hadn't been there in years, I prefer Juanitos, but they were closed. I ordered a burrito with lengua. It had so much fat on it I was scooping out the meat. Finally got tired of that so just threw it away, literally after like maybe 5 bites. I also ordered a taco of carnitas. They weren't horrible, a little dried up and harder than I like. I will not be returning there again.

I'm not a food health inspector by any means but I could not stop counting how many times I questioned their food safety practices. Cooks used the same knife to cut different kinds of meet raw and cooked. Food was flavorless and did not look appetizing. Maybe I'll come back a when they sort some of these things out. Looks like a really promising food joint. Hope to come back and have a better experience.

went to this place 5/18/19 and it was really Really busy that was a good sign the foods would be Tasty and Good,well for one reason no one speak any english except one waitress so ordering was a task period anyway we order 2 dish one was MENUDO which when cook right it has a lot of flavor spicy but not HOT where it was in the soup but not cook into the meat it was too spicy to eat/the burrito was full of bones with very little meat inside which was not what he order it was chicken meat instead of Pork! we put both of these meal in the trash my husband was white and my daughter was mixed this is what they got for being in this business,they did not want to served them period!
