I would've had a better experience if our server/waitress spoke louder and attended our table better. I didn't catch her name because she spoke in low volume in an HIGH volume atmosphere. We were a table of 8 and she stated that she can only bring 1 plate at a time. A server from another section intervened and stated that due to our large group that she should double order our requests. I asked for ice for my water and I finally got my ice like 15 minutes later. I did notice that she had time to joke around with her fellow coworkers. Maybe she should have invested that festive energy into our service. After like 40 minutes of a 2hr seating limit of our dining experience, the food started to finally flow. BIG KUDOS to the server guy that intervened!!! He added that next time to sit at his section as he noticed our disappointment. We spent a great amount of $$$ for good food and poor service.

Gen BBQ is a great place for a big appetite. Our family is not eat a lot but with all-you-can-eat, there are various foods that can order. We upgraded to Premium and Premium Marbling Center Cut Marinated Short RIB and Premium Cajun Shrimp were so so delicious. Unfortunately, Beef Tongue was sold out. The server recommend us order Premium RIB-EYE Steak but since we are not a big appetite, we did not order it even it looked tasty. Good foods and good atmosphere, but the most impressive thing was our server named "Joshua" who were so quick move and take orders in all tables. Even Gen was so crowded in the Sunday's evening, Joshua was incredible service to all of his tables without waiting. I will be definitely go there soon.

Super fun dinner with friends! I read some of the negative reviews prior to coming and I didn't experience any of the problems listed. They were super busy, and we did have to wait, but that is completely normal. Our waiter was very attentive and, for the most part, brought the food we ordered. There were a couple of times we had to remind him of some missing items, but we were constantly busy cooking and eating. We were never waiting around. They warn you 15 min prior to your end time, which is nice. We all loved it and would definitely come back and recommend.

Stopping by the Costco next door first is a must - you can buy $100 worth of Gen BBQ gift cards for $80. Sometimes they’re on sale for $70 even! We came for Friday night dinner, all you can eat for $31 per person. From adding ourselves to the waitlist to being seated, it took around an hour. The beef bulgogi and Gen Signature Yangyum Galbi (the short ribs) were the yummiest. Appetizers are hit and miss. If you come at a popular time, don’t expect super attentive service. If you want water refilled or the grill changed, you’ll have to flag someone down yourself. Our server had amazing timing though, always showing up to take our order for the next round as we were finishing up the current. It seems that having a good experience is highly dependent on getting lucky with a good server. Overall, we left full and content. With how expensive restaurants are now, we felt paying $31 each for all-you-can-eat meat was good value, especially with the extra savings from Costco.

Had a bad experience here on 10/30/25. First time here. Food server was rude all night! Food server left gas on without lighting the grill, the gas stayed on so long even the next table noticed the smell. Had to wait 42min to get water, finally went to the bar to ask for it . Got the water 10min later. You could really tell the food server was either having a bad day or really hates his job. The other staff were really cool though. Just the food server ruined the whole experience. Most likely will not return to this gen kbbq and would only recommend it if they would talk and guide their food servers better. I only was able to get 3 rounds of food in 2 hours. The portions are really small in comparison to other kbbq spots. Also the food server said we can only order 1 order of meat per person each round. Really disappointed we were really hungry after a day of fishing. Hope this helps out. Definitely ask for another food server if you get that rude one, if you happen to go here.

Food is ok. Servers are working hard. But the management is so bad. They are always short staff. You have to wait for everything. We went to this place for a weekday lunch. After 45 mins, finally the waiter came to take care us. We’d been told today is Chinese new year, we charge for dinner price whole day. I’d like to ask the manager, if you know it’s a holiday and charge for holiday, why you don’t put enough workers to treat customers as a holiday?

Came here for lunch on 1/16/2026 with my wife and had one of the worst service experiences. The host at the entrance was on the phone and completely ignored us even though there was no line. We had to walk in and find someone ourselves. A server seated us in a terrible corner table near the entrance. When I politely asked to switch tables, he refused and said it was “not his section.” Then the entrance staff rushed over, aggressively told us to go back to the front, and claimed a “group party” was waiting. That was simply not true, there was literally no one waiting. He spoke to us in a rude, disrespectful tone and even claimed he was the manager. We felt unwelcome and left immediately. Unprofessional, disorganized, and disrespectful service. Not surprised this place has so many one-star reviews. We will not be coming back.

This place used to be good. Now they have no service/staff and expect you to wait 30mins -1.5 hrs. for a table and tip their staff. Also...they burned my friend on his arm changing out grills and the waiter didn't even apologize. They have too many customers and not enough staff. They need more staff and they need to train their staff on customer service. Very sad because this place could be really good under the right management.

The worst KBBQ, the quality of their services and food have gone deep-deep-deeply downhill. The last visit is a total waste of time and money. Services and Food both worth 0 stars. Unreasonable long waiting time and terrible services. Its weekday afternoon, and there were hardly other customers like 95% of the tables are empty, yet they sat our group of 9 people to 1 booth. They claim that they have a group party coming and can't offer us an extra booth, which that "mystic group" never shown up. The waiter was rude, never checked on us, and act super un-patient whenever we try to speak to him. They make us wait half hour for the first round of food, with appetizers that are barely warm, some of the dishes that we ordered never came, and quality of the meat are so-so. Waiting for the 2nd round is even longer, when we inform the server that we have waited for almost 40 minutes without food he said the kitchen is busy and told us to be patient... All of us are still hungry when the waiter told us the 2 hours ordering time is over, and he finally being attended cause he is wanted the check and tips.

My friend and I checked in on the Yelp waitlist at Gen Korean BBQ House around 6:30 PM on New Year's Eve and weren't seated until 8:00 PM. We were seated near the front door, where it was very cold with people constantly coming in and out. I asked if we could move to a different table. Our waiter said he would need to get a manager and that it could mean waiting longer -- even though there were open tables right next to us. This was my friend's first time trying Korean BBQ, and he has multiple food restrictions (gluten, wheat, dairy/butter, nuts, and fish). The allergy menu wasn't available online. Once seated, my friend was given the allergy menu, but it was still unclear what he could and couldn't safely eat, and our waiter wasn't helpful in explaining it. From past visits, Gen usually brings standard banchan -- kimchi, cucumbers/pickles, potato salad, sauces, and salts -- automatically. We received none of these, and it was never explained that we needed to ask. You're only allowed to order four meats at a time, which already slows things down. After reviewing the allergy menu, I realized that two of the meats I ordered weren't safe for my friend. I asked if those could simply be canceled and replaced, but I was told they would still be sent to our table and that we would have to send them back to the kitchen, which made no sense. Because of this confusion and delay, only one round of meat ever arrived. The only meats we received were beef brisket and beef ribs, and the portions were very small. No additional meats came out, and since our waiter rarely checked on us, we weren't able to reorder or ask what was happening. In the end, we each only ate one small portion of meat with rice. My friend barely ate anything -- just rice and meat -- and avoided the salad because it wasn't clear what dressing was used. We left still hungry. I remained respectful the entire time, but the service felt disorganized and inattentive. Our waiter spent time talking with another table instead of checking on us. When it was time to pay, the bill came combined, and our waiter was nowhere to be found. I went to the host stand and was told to pay at the bar. When we went to the bar, we were then told we would need to go back to our table to pay. I explained that we didn't have time, and only then were we helped and allowed to pay separately. Despite all of this, we still paid $34.00 each. I understand holidays are busy, but for that price, the service, communication, and amount of food were unacceptable. Given the lack of food and service, we did not feel comfortable tipping. I wouldn't return or recommend this location, especially for anyone with food restrictions or limited time.

Very disappointing New Year’s dining experience. I brought my family here to celebrate the New Year, expecting a pleasant and enjoyable meal, but it turned out to be extremely frustrating. First, the food was very disappointing. Almost every dish tasted the same — overly sweet with no variety or distinct flavors. There was no difference between the meats, and it quickly became unpleasant to eat. Second, the food service was extremely slow. Our grill was often left burning with no meat to cook, and we spent a lot of time waiting between rounds. We were constantly waiting for food and never felt full. Third, the service was unacceptable. We ordered steak and waited over 30 minutes, but it never arrived. Instead, a server came over and told us that we had been there for 2.5 hours and needed to leave. This was shocking — our food had not even been served yet, and we were being asked to leave. When we asked about the steak, the server then said it was out of stock, but no one informed us of this at any point. When questioned further, the server said he didn’t know and claimed he was “just staff.” How is it possible that a staff member doesn’t know what items are available, and no one communicates this to the customer? Overall, the experience felt disorganized, disrespectful, and poorly managed, especially on a day meant for family celebration. We will not be returning and do not recommend this place.

This level of delay shows a clear lack of organization and respect for customers’ time. Korean BBQ Fremont seriously needs to address its service standards. Let me tell you something about this garbage establishment. This placed used to be the spot to come and dine in. You would wait like 20 minutes to be seated and with great service. Idk what happened since 2021 but it has gone down hill BAD! We were on the waitlist and were next in line for 40 min. The host seated two other groups before us. How ridiculous is that? The host then said after we confronted him about the wait, that he has no control over how the system works. Which makes no sense because he told me that we were next in line. Not coming back to this place. There are lots of Korean bbq places to go try and spend money at. Don’t waste your time at this place.

I have never had a good experience at any of the Gen restaurants, and this place is no exception. But this one was the WORST. My party walked in and we were excited at first that they’d take a big party on a Saturday night. We ordered drinks at the bar while waiting for our tables, giving them good business to start. However after we were seated it was chaos. The servers were not organized when taking everyone’s orders. We realized many of the orders were wrong - they kept bringing us karage chicken even though we were certain we did not order it 5 times (no one in the group even remembered ordering it once). They would deliver meat to the wrong groups. They were not helpful when one of the burners didn’t work, we had to ask three different waiters to address the issue and finally one of the servers set up the burner next to us. And to top it off at the very end they charged us a food waste fee for 7 plates at $5 each, which included the mystery orders of karage chicken. When we asked to speak to the manager about it they didn’t even try to listen to us, they insisted it was their policy regardless that they brought extra karage chicken to us by accident. Paying $45/person for below average KBBQ and terrible service (0 respect to the customer) is definitely something I recommend to nobody.
