This is by far the best place for Indian food I’ve had in a while! I tried both the chicken and egg curry, and what really stood out was how flavorful they were, with two completely different curries. The chicken chilli though—easily my favorite! They also have the best of both puranpoli and surmai, which was such a treat. The ambience is lovely too, making it a perfect spot for a great meal. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a truly delicious and satisfying Indian meal, you’ve got to check this place out!
We came here last night after the movie and it was packed. But a waiter at the door welcomed us graciously, escorted us to a small waiting area, and got us menus. The prices are higher than the other casual Indian places in the mall, but the warm welcome and decor, plus the crowds and kitchen aromas, convinced us to stay. Good decision! Within 10 minutes we were seated, the waiter happily explaining some of the dishes we didn't know. The food came quickly and was delicious and plentiful (my husband and I shared a thali with an order of golden fluffy garlic Naan, and took food home). The special thali was a great choice with a variety of dishes like a rich, tender mutton curry, crunchy prawns, and spicy chicken soup. I would have loved to try some chutnies but didn't want to pay extra. It's a bit of a hybrid setup - the decor looks like finer dining, but they put a stand with a number on your table like fast casual. Friendly waiters take your order, deliver takeaway boxes, and cash you out tableside, which makes for fast, efficient service, though we never felt rushed. The owner-manager checked on us a couple times and told us about their other restaurants in the Bay Area; clearly, he knows what he's doing!
The thali's are really good, we tried the chicken thali and the bakri and the chicken curry were just amazing. The quantity of curry is good and it comes with rice as well but the bakri was so good that I skipped the rice and ordered more bakri. Special thali has prawns and chicken and mutton curries, which my friend ordered and enjoyed thoroughly.
If you're looking for authentic Maharashtrian cuisine, this is the place to go! Highly recommended. The service was excellent, the ambiance was inviting, and the food was top-notch. The Kolambi Fry was absolutely delicious, with a perfectly prepared coating. The curry portion sizes were generous, and it comes with rice. However, the bhakri was so good that I ended up skipping the rice and ordered more of it instead! The special thali, which includes prawns, chicken, and mutton curries, was a hit with everyone. And the Aamras? Simply delicious. This spot is a must-visit for anyone craving great Maharashtrian food in the South Bay. We’ll definitely be coming back for more!
I'm with the Rudranaad Dhol-Tasha group, and we've been invited to perform at Solkadhi for their restaurant opening during the Dasara celebration. Solkadhi in Fremont is a total game-changer! While their Indo-Chinese dishes are an absolute banger, the real star is their authentic Maharashtrian food! Sabudana vada, samosa, fried rice, chowmein, and manchurian—every dish was on point. The team behind the popular Puranpoli and Surmai spots in the South Bay has brought their incredible flavors and welcoming vibe to Fremont, and they’ve definitely lived up to all the hype. So glad they’ve expanded here!
Visited this new restaurant in Fremont for Sunday lunch, which is owned by the same owner as Surmai and Puranpoli. We ordered 2 special thali, chicken thali, triple schezwan fried rice and chicken manchurian. The food was delicious, well cooked and perfect balance of spices, everything that resembles Konkan or Maharashtrian cuisine. The ambience and welcoming nature of the staff makes the dining experience even more special and worthwhile. Posting a picture of the chicken thali!
The ambience is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a meal. The food was both tasty and delicious, with a wide variety of options to choose from. The location is also very convenient, adding to the overall appeal. I can't wait to return and explore more items on the menu!
Suggested by a family member and oh boy, it was an avalanche of great taste. I can go even as far to say that it was the best non-veg Thali that I have ever had. Mutton and Kolombi (Prawn) were the highlights. Rice bhakri, I wish they served 2 with the plate instead of one, but that's just my craving talking. You won't regret it at all.
This is a nice restaurant right by the movie theater. The food was really fresh, bursting with flavors and good amount of spice. We ordered the special thali with mutton masala, chicken(Konkani masala) and our absolute favorite the prawn(Kolambi rava fry). Solkadhi, the drink was super refreshing on a hot Sunday afternoon. The raita tasted just like back home in India. The roti was a twist(rice flour bhakri), the portion sizes were great. The chicken thali was good too. Vada pav was amazing, with the classic garlic chutney. Service was pretty decent, with ample seating room.
If you want to taste authentic Maharashtrian food and with the exact taste as back home, this is the place to go. The Thali is the best I have had ever here in USA, the taste immediately transported me back home. The service also went above and beyond, we ordered Special thali, but after sometime the server mentioned mutton will tske time to cook so offered us a replacement but we decided to go with Chicken thali. But when they got the thali they added mutton for free since it was ready, I didn’t expect them to do that. Also our kids tried hakka noodles, but didn’t want to eat noodles after ordering so we just ordered butter paav for them to eat. The server decided to not charge us for that, this rarely happens nowadays .
We ordered catering from Solkadhi, and it exceeded expectations! The dishes were full of authentic Marathi taste, and our guests couldn’t stop complimenting the food. They were also kind enough to include a few items from their other restaurant, Pural Poli, which added a wonderful touch to the spread. If you’re looking for authentic Marathi catering with amazing flavors, this is the perfect choice!
Solkadhi and Surmai are love! I was craving for a particular taste that reminds me of home and was just in heaven having the food served in both the restaurants. I ordered rawa bangda fry, chicken thali, special thali and kokum for the final touch. Everything was so delicious.Trelly and all the staff were really professional and kind. Definitely coming back again.
I just tried Solkadhi in Fremont, and it's seriously amazing! Their Hakka noodles were the best I've had in a while, and the Kolambi Fry was so crispy and flavorful. The Chicken Chilli/manchurian had the perfect kick, and the Sabudana Vada was super crispy and soft inside. But the Vada Pav--you HAVE to try it! If you're in the area, this place is a must.
A must try for authentic Maharastrian food. Everything was super flavorful and fresh. The Sabudana vadas were super crispy, we loved the pav bhaji and also tried their special chicken lollipop. The chicken thali came with so many items to try. They even have indo Chinese options!
Solkadhi is exceptional. I've tried a large part of their menu and just about all of it is worth a visit. Top recommendations here are the special Thali - It comes with rava fried prawns, chicken and mutton curries (both exceptional and available as entrees), a dal and rice which reminded me of a home cooked meal, aamras and rice bhakri. This is more than enough for one person and could very well be shared. The vada misal came with a well spiced misal - not too hot and definitely not bland and a vada that will take you straight back to Mumbai. The info chinese food is pretty good too - great chicken lollipop and a fantastic schezwan chutney made my day. Definitely try the Prawn Kebab - Absolutely a hidden gem on the menu. The only weak link was the triple schezwan rice - it was great isn't quite what I miss from back home. It isn't for me, but maybe it'll be right for someone. Service here is efficient and friendly. Our server Pramod was a delight.
A Delightful Experience of Authentic Maharashtrian Cuisine Our recent visit to this restaurant was a culinary journey through the flavors of the Kokan region. We opted for the special Thali, which truly showcased the richness of this coastal cuisine. Both the chicken and mutton curries were outstanding, with the meat being tender and cooked to perfection. In addition to the traditional Maharashtrian dishes, we also had the opportunity to try some Indo-Chinese options, which were equally tasty and enjoyable. The blend of spices and the presentation of these dishes added to our overall dining experience. If you're looking to explore the authentic flavors of Maharashtrian coastal food, we highly recommend this restaurant. The quality of the dishes, combined with the warm hospitality, makes it a must-visit destination.
Perfect place to have authentic Indian food, we went to a movie and after that we had an amazing dinner at Solkadhi. Must recommend, try their special thali, Vada Pav , Misal Pav. The taste was so delicious, it was my first time trying Vada Pav and Misal Pav in the United States. Highly recommend it if you're looking for a perfect Indian food. Quick service and good ambiance with friendly and helpful staff. #letsconnect #letsguide #indianfoodusa #vadapav #maharahstiranfood.
Alright then, third restaurant from the Surmayi17 brand, and boy if it isn’t the best one yet ? I ordered chicken thali and special thali and we had an absolute blast, the food felt very homely and yet the flavors were so complex and portion was wholesome . We were not left with severe heart burns and yet the food was spicy and absolute pleasure. Meat was well cooked, prawns were crispy and rice “bhakhari” was soft and hot, sol kadhi (namesake and drink) was to die for ! I did raise concern with some of the mutton pieces being a little hard and dry and they generously got me a replacement . After the dinner had a great conversation with the owner Roshan and he was an absolute delight - wishing him great luck ! Keep up the good work, will definitely visit again .
Great Maharashtrian food ! I liked the fact they have a good amount of vegetarian options. Bharli Vangi (eggplant curry)was very tasty and sol kadhi was great too ! My friends and family also mentioned the mutton curry was spicy but very tasty ! We are coming back for some amazing Maharashtrian food
We ordered triple schezwan fried rice for takeout. The taste reminded us of Mumbai. The spiciness of the rice and noodles was balanced by the Manchurian gravy. The quantity was sufficient for two people. However, the ratio of noodles to rice was quite low. It would be better if they added more noodles. We will definitely be returning to try more dishes.
Setting the context, i am a hard core Indo Chinese fan. Have been searching for the best hakka noodle and chilly chicken in the bay. Found it. Great combination of spices. Not too much oil. Noodles just amazing. Ambience is decent. Not upscale. Service was just ok. Did not serve water.
We have heard about this place from friend and wanted to try it for quite some time. We went there for dinner. It is located next the the Indian movie theater. When you get there the servers take you to your table, and you can order for a good selection of menu items. Pav bhaji was good (maybe the bhaji felt like had more butter for me, my partner loved it), Vada pav was good (vada was the best, pav felt was not fresh, it needed to be soft). Sabu Dana was a beast, should definitely be tried by everyone (my partner said so 😀). Noodles were noodles and they were made well. The ambience was good and utensils were very good. Would definitely recommend it for anyone who wants to try good Marathi food.
The food was great!! One of the best I’ve had in the bay area. The selection of menu is short but very good, very inclusive. Rahul was great. He asked us if we’re doing good every now and then.Gave us suggestions as well. It was fast too. Would definitely go back with my friends and family. I tried the chicken lollipop, vada pav, chai, chilli chicken, garlic and butter naan, mutton curry
This newly opened restaurant is a sister restaurant of Surmai and puranpoli17 and offers a variety of incredible Maharashtrian Food. Their Veg & Non Veg Thalis are really good with a variety of options. I tried the Prawns Kebab with Special Thali and loved it. Also recommend their Indo Chinese food options
This place is a real gem. I was here with my family. We were in a big group of 16 people. So got to try a lot of things. All the appetizers and main course were really great. They have nice options in both vegetarian and non vegetarian. The chicken tikka, prawns, sabudana vada, kadhai paneer and mutton curry are must try. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Ambience is nice and casual. I will definitely recommend this place.
New restaurant in town- the owner and rest of the staff are really nice to talk to, and everyone has done a terrific job with this place. It's located just behind the Cinélounge movie theater, so you can also plan to come here before or after you watch a sublime Indian movie. It was my first time trying Konkani food and it was an AWESOME experience. I ordered the mutton masala and its portion size was enough for 2 orders of butter naan which go really well together. The mutton masala was nicely flavorful with a good level of spice (enough to make me sweat from start to end) but I enjoyed every bite because it tasted so GREAT and the spice contributed to the flavor so well. I also had the kokum sarbat, which is a refreshing and strongly sweet Konkani summer drink which was good to sip on in between bites of hot masala. Atmosphere was great, make sure to admire the beautiful peacock artwork on the wall. Next time I will try dishes from the Chinese fusion part of the menu which were highly recommended. Can't wait to be back!

This is my third visit to Solkadhi and I was shocked and saddened to find the paper code/tag on a piece of bell pepper in the burnt garlic fried rice. I discovered it when we brought the left over rice back home. My daughter had it and I don't know if she ingested any more of it. We loved this restaurant for their food. But today was different. Had ordered the burnt garlic fried rice and chilli chicken. The chicken wasn't good - it was so stale, hard, chewy and stringy and I could find only a couple of good pieces in them. I will go back to them but will make sure I order only veg food. I hope the management takes measures to ensure the vegetable stickers are removed before using them for cooking. I know these mistakes happen and am sure they will take necessary steps to ensure this doesn't happen again. Wish them the best!
Authentic Maharashtrian cuisine taste. The thali was pricey for what it offered, fish was dry but overall good for one time visit.
Solkadhi in Fremont is hands down one of my favorite spots for authentic Maharashtrian food. The mutton masala with rice bhakri was perfectly spiced and incredibly satisfying. I also tried the special thali, and it was a great combo — everything was well-portioned and flavorful. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the overall vibe of the place is clean and casual. It’s a great spot whether you’re dining in or grabbing a quick takeout. Only minor downside is that the takeout experience can be a bit inconsistent, but nothing major. If you’re craving real Maharashtrian flavors in the Bay Area, Solkadhi is definitely worth checking out.
Food was great, konkani style. We had a couple of thalis, prawns & Chicken; the quantity was very filling, tasty sides like Bhakhari and Dal rice, and Shrikhand as dessert which was really nice. And of course solkaadi was included in the thali. Do not expect great service though, we had to call the waiter for basic things like menus, cutlery etc. There was only 1 guy serving the whole floor, not sure if that was due to the long weekend, Labor Day or it's normal for this restaurant. Overall the food and chance to eat some authentic maharastrian food in a US restaurant made it a great memorable experience, despite the lack of good service. Would definitely visit again.
I have been here about 2 - 3 times. This is the sister restaurant of Surmai/Puran Poli. My go to choice here is the prawns thali and the prawns appetizer. It's a must have at this restaurant. The Thali is the right amount for a brunch or a heavy lunch. It includes an appetizer, a prawn curry, dal, rice, a vegetarian curry(of the day) and the quintessential - Rice Bhakri 🤌 I am so glad to get a chance to have food like home so far away from home.
As a Maharashtrian who loves seafood, I was excited to try Solkadhi Restaurant, and it did not disappoint! The prawns were perfectly fried with a crisp coating and great flavor. The solkadhi was refreshing and tasted just like home. The chicken dishes were good too, though the mutton was a bit on the chewier side. Overall, a decent experience and I would definitely visit again to satisfy my seafood cravings.
My first time experiencing this place and type of cuisine. The ambience is cozy and service is friendly, quick. We got Vada missal. Solkhadi drink and samosas. The Vada missal was interesting. The soupy gravy by itself was flavor bomb. Mixing the Vada with other crisps and onions elevated the flavor. The solkhadi was sour and refreshing. The samosas were buttery and crunchy. Overall a great experience.
First of all, 1.49 for extra Sabudana Wada Chutney? Kharach? Hehe, apart from that Kanjusi, we had a good dinner at Solkadhi. We had Vada Misal, Sabudana Wada and Hakka Noodles. I had tried Indo-chinese at their other restaurant so I knew they would make it good... And they didn't disappoint. Hakka Noodles definitely stole the show. Schezwan Chutney was good too. Vada Misal was flavourful and wasn't unnecessarily "too spicy" which made it more enjoyable. Make do with the little Farsan they give though otherwise the extra Farsan is $2.49 😄 Sabudana Wada was a little disappointing though. Maybe because of the shape or lack of extra chutney. We were here on Sunday evening and there was about a 5-10 minute wait. Service was fast enough though. However the table cleaning solution they use is too strong and I would recommend them to go for a better smelling/ more diluted version as it takes away from the experience.
This is the best Maharastrian food I have eaten outside India. Normally, most Indian food in the US is North/South Indian so it is good to have Maharastrian food for a change. The super thali comes with mutton, chicken, shrimp, and vegetarian sides. It was authentic and cooked to perfection. The restaurant was also clean and orderly. Thank you.
I had tried food at Surmai before so went in knowing what to expect(which is great food) and they didn’t disappoint!! Loved Vada pav and misal pav. Sabudana Vada and triple schezwan fried rice were good too.

5/4/25 Sunday. Ordered misal pav n pav bhaji taste good. 2/22/25 Saturday. Very good location. It was crowded. Come again n try their menu items.

This restaurant is located in the strip mall next to Raleys and the movie cinema. It was my first time here and I was pleasantly surprised how clean and well designed it was. We ordered the Solkadhi drink which is what the restaurant was named after. It was an interesting taste and probably hits home for many who are from Goa. The hakka noodles were the best we have tried in Fremont. The tiger prawns were really small: different from the usual large sized as they depicted in the photos and the portion was really small. They were delicious though. Other than that, the service was spectacular. I did feel that it was pricier than other places, but that's everywhere in Fremont now.
It might have been the timing, but it felt like they simply reheated the food before serving, as it arrived lukewarm. The vadapav was excellent and deserves 5 stars. The misal had a decent flavor, though it wasn’t served as hot as expected. The burnt garlic fried rice had too much carrot, which overpowered the flavors, and the Manchurian balls were slightly burnt, adding a bitter taste.
Misal pav (authentically oily) is really oily, and was a bit disappointing. Sabudana vada was good and a must try. Triple schezwan friend rice was good, it comes with cabbage manchurin in sauce, manchurian was too good. They can do better in terms of service. Food/menu is interesting, not expensive, and will come back to try more dishes. Curious about noodles samosa and burnt garlic fried rice. Enjoy 20% discount Monday thru Thursday when paid in cash.
