My wife and I were in town this past week for a conference and ate here on a Saturday for lunch. First time visiting this restaurant, but came to try it based on the reviews and looking for something different. The menu was definitely different, but in a good way with plenty of choices, and what we tried was all really good. Hit the spot on a cool, wet day as rain swept through the area. An overall very good first time visit!
We dined in and ate a Rueben with a black and white cookie, then left with a jar of pickles and a cheesecake. Simply delicious. Thanks Jeff! We will be back.
Love this place! My husband and I come in about once a week, because it's that good! The matzo ball soup is fantastic, as well as the corned beef and pastrami. Highly recommend for a NYC style deli experience!
I just picked up takeout, and the sandwiches were great, as usual. We had a CNN and a pastrami and Swiss. I want to give a special shoutout about the service today. I am currently having to get around with a wheelchair so, when I got there, I called and asked if they could bring the order to my car. This may not sound like a big deal but, trust me, with some restaurants it takes an Act of Congress. The young gentleman who answered the phone pleasantly told me that "of course" he could bring me my order which he immediately did. I wish all businesses would respond to small requests with such positivity. I now love this place even more!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Deli News – Frisco, TX Had a delicious pastrami melt that hit all the right notes — tender, flavorful, and perfectly toasted. The split pea soup was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had — rich, hearty, and full of flavor. You really can’t go wrong with this spot for lunch. As someone from New York City, this place brings me straight back down memory lane — authentic deli taste, generous portions, and that classic NYC vibe. Definitely a go-to spot when you’re craving real deli comfort food in Texas!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you’re a New Yorker living in Dallas or just someone who appreciates a real, quality sandwich — Deli News on Preston Road is a must-visit. It’s one of those rare spots that truly captures the essence of a classic New York deli. I ordered the Reuben with fries, and it was absolutely fantastic — perfectly stacked, juicy, and flavorful with that authentic NY-style bite. It instantly took me back home. My wife had the BLT, and she loved it too — simple, fresh, and made just right. Everything from the portions to the flavor feels authentic, and you can tell they take pride in what they serve. The atmosphere has that casual deli charm that makes you want to stay a little longer just to enjoy it all. We’ll definitely be back to explore the rest of the menu — there’s a lot more I want to try! If you’re craving New York–style sandwiches in Dallas, this is the place.
I lived close by when this place first opened up and I was able to swing through today to get a couple sandwiches to go and I end up meeting Jeff, turned out to be one of the owners. He went absolutely went above and beyond just asking for a sandwich and he was like man you able to eat it quick or you gonna eat it later? I said later, well we’ll just deconstructed for you. Above and beyond and the food is outstanding. The sandwich was outstanding thank you and I’ll be a customer for life.
I Love this restaurant! They give you good size portions with a great cost. The owner is Awesome and cares about his customers! They have a variety of food items. I tried the steak and cheese and it was delicious, so glad I did not let the bad review about it discouraged me from trying. Everything i has tasted has Never disappointed. The funny thing is everyone seem so stuff after getting their food and have to go home with to go boxes. A restaurant that is still in the business and making sure you enjoy good eating!
Deli News Frisco is a great restaurant! I had the NY pastrami, on rye with mustard, it was fantastic and the potato salad too! There were other great choices but I love pastrami and this pastrami tasted so good! My wife had the roast beef with russian dressing on rye. The staff were very friendly and the place was extremely clean. We made the trip from our home in Sanger and it was well worth the drive! We will be back soon!
A true deli place. Our lunch was wonderful! I ordered the open face turkey sandwich with gravy and cranberry. Every bite was filled with flavor. The plates were generously served. Unfortunately, there was no room for dessert even though the were calling my name. It's a must return type of restaurant.
I’ve always loved Deli News in Frisco, Texas, for its authentic New York deli vibes, and my recent lunch there didn’t disappoint—even with my current no-sugar, no-grain diet. Normally, I’d go straight for their Reuben, which is fantastic, but it’s off-limits for me now with the bread and Russian dressing. Instead, I asked for a Reuben-inspired substitute: deli mustard instead of the dressing, no bread, and all the classic fixings. I paired it with a side of steamed vegetables to keep it compliant with my diet. The result? A delicious, satisfying lunch that hit all the right spots! The corned beef was tender and flavorful, the mustard added a perfect tangy kick, and the steamed veggies were fresh and well-prepared. They even threw in a pickle, which was a delightful bonus. The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating, making the whole experience even better. If you’re craving authentic NY deli grub—whether you’re sticking to a specific diet or not—Deli News is absolutely the place to go. Highly recommend!
One of my co-workers recommended I try this and man, this is the best recommendation anyone has given my family. I married a gorgeous Jewish woman from NYC. My father-in-law happened to be in town this weekend from the big apple for Rosh Hashannah, so no better time to try it out while having biased reviewers with me. For our party of 3 adults and 2 kids we ordered a smorgasbord. I had the CNN which had turkey, corned beef, and pastrami and I added mustard and can’t with a side of tasty tasty french fries. This sandwich is so huge I had to take half of it to-go. My oldest kid had matzo ball soup with noodles which she finally forcefully ate. Ordered a side of tuna salad and some challah bread and cream cheese for the baby, and he went to town! Happy baby makes for happy parents. My wife and and father-in-law split Deborah’s Nova Lox and had no complaints there and said it was real good. He also had a full bowl of the hodgepodge soup. He ended up taking the last half of it to-go. For dessert, I had the amazingly perfect red velvet cream cookie. Best cookie I’ve had in a long time! Please send me the recipe. My wife and father-in-law had raspberry & chocolate regulach. They both said they were great. All in all, this was a great experience. FIL said this meal made his trip to Texas worth it and that it felt like home. Everyone, minus the 3.5 year-old, had great reviews on their meals. I will be coming in here-and-there for cookies and then whenever the wife tells me.
Great tasting sandwiches and pastry - Authentic NY style, very generous portions for our meal. We went before the lunch rush and that worked out well for us. Although they were busy thru lunch. The line of patrons waiting was serviced fairly quick. Their staff provided amazing service and meal recommendations. The establishment clean and organized. We will definitely return on our next visit to Frisco. I have personally revived hundreds of restaurants globally and this is one of the very best globally!! Don't miss out on enjoying Deli News Frisco!!
This place needs 10 Stars! Best Pastrami and Reuben sandwich we have ever had. My wife and I each got our own sandwich and cut it in half so we could try both. This was the most tender, moist, flavorful beef we have ever had! Each sandwich has 1/2 pound of piled on meat with the most amazing rye bread and sauerkraut! I talked with the owner, Jeff, he said the meat, bread and cheese are flown in from NY on the regular. Reminds me of the photos I see from Katz's Deli in NYC. We also decided to try the cheesecake, 100x better than Cheesecake Factory and tried the chocolate streusel..they were rich and creamy loaded with flavor. All homemade too at the restaurant. We also bought homemade Challah bread that the owner said he uses for French toast for breakfast at the restaurant. I would say this is our new favorite Deli spot in North Texas! You MUST stop on by now that they also have dinner hours if you can't make it for lunch or breakfast. Owner, Jeff, and his employees are very friendly and gave us history on where they sourced their food, background is the restaurant etc. Say Hi to Jeff and let them know "Derrick sent you!"
What a delightful sandwich shop. It's large and accommodating for any size group. The staff was also very friendly. The deserts, though pricey, were very good, and they were portioned well. I will definitely return to try more menu items. You can also take portions of egg salad, chicken salad, and tuna salad to go.
First timer. Its deli restaurant. You place your order. It has a variety of prices and offers different options of foods like sandwiches, salads and breakfast options.
It’s been a few years since I’ve eaten here. A few years ago they had a wait staff. Not a fan of the new way of ordering at the counter and getting our own drinks and silverware. Of course they still ask for the 20% tip. Food took awhile to come to the table but was prepared well. Corned beef hash was delicious. Coffee was really good. All in all food was good but not a fan of the atmosphere.
Disappointing and expensive. Went there at noon for lunch. Ordered the corned beef Reuben and matzoh ball soup. The soup was lukewarm, with just 2 balls of matzoh dough and a couple of slices of carrots. So chicken broth and two dough balls for $9. The Reuben ($19) had generous amount of corned beef, but not much flavor. The side of coleslaw was tasteless. Like eating styrofoam. The best part of the meal was the cream soda. Won’t be going back.
This is my second trip to a Deli News, first one to Frisco. They should really take out any references to New York. This place is nowhere near what a real New York deli is. I’ve never had pastrami so dry. What is the point of having pastrami sandwich made from brisket, that is dry and bland? You order and they bring your food to you without any utensils except for a soup spoon. Roast beef as well dry and bland. Bread was dry. Super disappointed that it is impossible to find an authentic pastrami sandwich in the Dallas Fort Worth area. I give up. I will say Cindy’s Deli is not too bad, but still no Carnegie, Katz, Stage or even Chompies in Phoenix, Arizona.
$45 for absolute garbage. Two eggs that somehow tasted like they were watered down, sausage patties that screamed cheap frozen off-brand, and hashbrowns so bland it felt intentional. Not a single bite had flavor. This place is insanely overpriced for food that’s worse than fast food. A McDonald’s breakfast would’ve been cheaper, hotter, and actually edible. I wouldn’t even give this food to my dog. Honestly, it makes complete sense why the place was basically empty when we came in. Save your money and your appetite, this was a total ripoff.
I lived in New Rochelle, New York for 3+ years. I would frequent the corner stores and the 24 hour shops. This sandwich is not remotely close to the worst deli in N.Y. As you can tell by the photo, I am better off grabbing a loaf of bread and making my own sandwich at home. $15.99 for a tuna melt sandwich that is barely bigger than my palm is the BIGGEST. RIPOFF. EVER. No deli in N.Y. would serve a sandwich that small for that price, and anyone who knows anything about northeast prices knows that is a problem. Do not waste your time.
