Really good dinner. Everything tasted fresh and comforting without being heavy. The pasta was flavorful and satisfying, and the fish was cooked perfectly. On top of that, the atmosphere really made the night — warm, rustic, and full of character, with a lively buzz that made it feel welcoming and fun. Simple, well done, and a great place to enjoy a relaxed meal.
Do NOT believe the bad reviews, service was impeccable and food delicious! I had an amazing flat iron steak, perfectly cooked and so succulent. My girlfriend had the chicken salad, also a magnificient choice. Must do 👍
This Western style saloon has great atmosphere, pretty decor, great service (shoutout to bartender Josh who’s gonna make sure you have a great time), good selection of drinks and a decent menu. I recommend the Western burger, the pasta and the fried cheesecake. Great place for a stop on your travels or if you’re staying at the Ranch. P.S. outdoor seating area is charming as well.
How this place has a 3.7 rating as of writing this is a mystery to me. The food we were served was excellent, the service was good, and the venue was absolutely charming. I ordered buffalo wings, which were huge, salmon, onion rings, wine sauce pasta, salad. Everything was great.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Last Kind Words Saloon, and I can confidently say it was an experience worth sharing. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements the rustic charm of the restaurant. The decor is thoughtfully designed, creating a cozy environment that makes you feel right at home. The food was nothing short of fantastic. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor, showcasing a menu that clearly prioritizes quality ingredients and skilled preparation. The ribs were particularly memorable—tender, juicy, and expertly seasoned. The burgers also stood out, cooked to perfection and served with a variety of delicious toppings. It’s evident that the chefs take pride in their craft, and it truly shows in every bite. One thing to keep in mind is that this place tends to get busy, so I highly recommend booking a table in advance. Unfortunately, my companion and I didn’t make a reservation, which resulted in a wait of about 10-15 minutes for a table. While this wasn’t a huge inconvenience, it’s definitely something to consider if you want to avoid any delays. The staff at The Last Kind Words Saloon were incredibly nice and attentive throughout our visit. They made us feel welcome and were always ready to offer recommendations or answer any questions we had about the menu. Their friendly demeanor added to the overall positive vibe of the restaurant. If you're in the area, I cannot recommend The Last Kind Words Saloon enough. It’s a delightful spot that stands out among other dining options nearby. In fact, I would advise steering clear of the buffet restaurants in the vicinity; they simply don’t compare and can feel like a waste of money when you have such a gem as The Last Kind Words Saloon available. Overall, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking for great food in an enjoyable setting!
We had the American wagyu burger. It tasted great. Bit pricey though. Around $80 for a burger and 2 drinks. But it's in a National Park so that's to be expected.
Not sure how this place could be rated poorly. It’s a beautiful saloon with great atmosphere and we thought the food was very good. I had the pasta paparedella and my wife had a wedge salad. Both very flavorful and tasty. A must see location in our book. The only thing that would make this place better is some background music. There is no music here at all. Maybe some will like that.
This place is an Oasis in death valley !! After a long day of exploring nature's marvel at Death Valley National Park, we got to spend an evening at this Restaurant/Bar. I have to say, this place is one of a kind featuring a unique interiors. We thoroughly enjoyed our drinks and Appetizers while watching the Football Game. Super friendly staff and engages you in the conversation if you are at the Bar counter. Definitely a must visit place!!
Christopher was amazing! Super friendly, funny, and on top of everything. He made us feel so welcome and gave great recommendations. Ask for Christopher — he’ll make your night!
I really don’t understand the negative reviews. I’ve had dinner here last night and tonight. Both times the food was great and the service very friendly. Yes, it’s super expensive but it’s in the middle of nowhere so really should be expected. Servers Ron and Jose were attentive and friendly. Pasta (pictured) was garlicky and fresh. Steak was cooked to perfection and dynamite shrimp were better than expected. Two good meals!

Was nervous going to eat because of the negative reviews....some of them were really hilarious and I thought I have to step up my review game. But here's the deal...we had a really great attentive waiter Jose, we had prime rib, the filet, chili, and a kale salad. The 2 of us that had the filet were really happy. Cooked perfectly. Expensive if you're used to Sizzler but not any more than a Vegas Steak house. 2 had prime rib, 1 said excellent 1 wished he had ordered it a little more well done. They both ordered medium rare. 1 had kale salad, not baby kale, a little tough should have been massaged but the stuff with it was good, the chili was excellent and came with cheese onions and sour cream..added chips from our left over chips and salsa appetizer and was really good. So for our last night together before we all go our separate ways it was great!
Last Kind Words Saloon had some great live music last night! I was at the same place the night before and the person next to me ordered the burger and it looked amazing! I came back and ordered it and it was decicious as expected! Beers were a little pricey. Dessert was also excellent! I ordered the fried cheesecake
Really diverse menu for a steak house! We have some vegetarians, in our group, And the vegetarian chili was great! My burger was excellent! The best part about this place, is the atmosphere - Really makes you feel, like an old western saloon!! It helps to make a reservation!
I have nothing but Kind Words! Personable staff at the door as well as at the table. My Southwest salad with Salmon was thoroughly tasty, as was my flourless chocolate cake dessert. Oh, and that Revenant IPA got the party started. Fun decor, solid place. We’ll be back tomorrow night for the tacos.

Friendly staff served up a delicious Salmon dinner. My fish was perfectly cooked with fresh sautéed veggies. My husband enjoyed the pork ribs that were tender and perfectly spiced. A wonderful wrap up to a beautiful day in Death Valley.
This place has the BEST campfire fundido dip!!! Don’t miss out it was delicious. We only came and got chicken tacos and this cheese dip and the tacos were meh not great, but the cheese dip was superb. It was very busy but we didn’t have to wait for a table and we had great service!
Pretty diverse menu for being just one page long. Service was very friendly and the food was served quickly. Obviously incredibly expensive for what you get, but that is completely expected in the middle of Death Valley. Though quite expensive, the quality of the food is exceptional, and the atmosphere of the restaurant gives a historical western feel that fits right in with the surrounding area.
The food was OK. Unfortunately, they were out of many options, but we were in Death Valley, so it is completely normal not to expect an endless food menu. They do their best. The restaurant can be crowded, and it has limited capacity, so be sure to get there early. All respect to all employees that has to work at 110 and above during the summer.
We were pleasantly surprised with this saloon considering we were out in the middle of nowhere! Great option for being in property. The burger was good and the service was great.

I have reviewed dozens of restaurants in Las Vegas, Nevada in the past… I am a foodie, what can I say! As someone who has worked at several restaurants and food operations, I must say I was quite disappointed in the food at the “Last Kind Words Saloon” at the Ranch in Death Valley. I got the Pappardelle pasta priced at $26 dollars. The portions were fine, but the butter sauce that was supposed to come on the pasta had absolutely no flavor. To throw some greens on some pappardelle noodles, with some tomatoes, and some butter, that is doable for > 26 at home. Not impressed. Not impressed at all.
The food in general was fine, but I was at this restaurant two days in a row (and I ordered two different dishes), and on both occasions the food served was barely warm. Service and atmosphere in the venue were nice, but I was bit disappointed by food temperature. I ordered a burger, which was served with two additional side dishes. I chose baked potato and french fries. And again, the potato was served barely warm. The ribs were also fine but not hot enough for me.
Food is not cheap. A hamburger costs $23 for lunch. But for a tourist area, it’s not that bad. The portion is big though but I don’t like the hamburger since it mixes too many stuffs. Sweet potato fries are overcooked. Service is adequate.

If you were gonna go there, make sure you make a reservation. There’s not a lot of tables inside and Options are limited. There is the wild rose saloon, but the menu is so small and limited. We did not make a reservation as did many many people in front of us and behind us and had nowhere to eat other than if you wanted to eat the buffet. Which is $30 and did not look good at all. So the host recommended that we order takeout with the bartender. So the line grew for that service. The bartender was extremely nice efficient and actually our food came out rather quickly. We only had to wait like 10 minutes. We took it back to our room to eat. Not the best dining experience, but the food was pretty good for takeout. Bottom line make a reservation
Atmosphere not too bad, cool looking place. Service ok. Food mediocre at best, with not exceptions noted. Steak was dull and very overpriced, as were the sides. Certainly much better than the neighboring 1849 buffet restaurant but you should only go here if you lack alternatives.
