Walked in to make a to go order, the people there were super nice, gave me a menu and I sat down to go over it. Made my order (3 enchiladas and a margarita to go). Food came super quick and included chips and salsa. I checked out, got back to the camp site and ate. Food was really good but the service was even better! I’ll def be back next time I’m in town.

I’m always a bit leery of family-owned restaurants in small towns: it’s usually hit-or-miss. Better than a Google Rating, I check to see how many cars are out front. We were in the mood for Mexican food as we were passing through Giddings and saw Los Patrones on the side of the highway with a healthy number of cars (not just pick-ups; pick-up drivers are generally less choosy about their dining fare, I’ve found, then car drivers). Before we even opened the front door, Edward “Lalo” was waiting for us, menus in hand. And as if he read our minds, passed some empty tables and sat us in a booth (we generally like booths, as we can sit beside each other). First up, a margarita on happy-hour ($2.50). And it wasn’t a small one, either. Served in a chilled mug. I felt they skimped a bit on the tequila, but the lime juice wasn’t as sugary sweet as most serve on happy-hour; the lime was perfect! Warm tortilla chips and salsa came almost immediately. I really like warmed tortilla chips. I order the beef tacos al carbon; Cyndi had a cheese enchilada with Charro beans and rice. The beans were very good, although a bit shy on the spices. The rice was not too dry, either. The beef in my tacos was tender and well cooked, although they didn’t taste as though they were cooked over wood (my favorite type). What was most impressive was how friendly everyone was. And just watching the staff from our booth, they moved with purpose and dedication — no one languished or acted as though they had somewhere better to be. Lalo practically skipped whenever he went somewhere! An old man at the front counter — the owner, I presume — made a purposeful “Thank you for coming.” While the fare is basic Tex-Mex and nothing extraordinary, the way they make you feel, the attentiveness, and the sheer joy of being important to them makes this a stop we’ll remember.

Really good food. Fast service, did not take long for my drink and my food to come out. The margarita was strong and good. The chips and salsa was really good. The place was clean and the restrooms was clean. Had a great atmosphere. The parking lot is big and has trailer parking in the back. I will most definitely be back. A must stop when traveling to and from Houston to Austin. Everything from the kids HUGE hamburger, fajitas, enchiladas, tacos down to the Queso is delicious. This was our first time stopping by and I can guarantee it will not be our last. Thanks for having us. Seriously do stop by next time your traveling through.

Was great that this place was within walking distance from the CEFCO travel centre where I have been stuck waiting for my next load. It was nice to be able to sit down for a hot meal instead of having to eat junk food in the truck again. I ordered the Fajitas Mexicana and loved the fact the added sliced and grilled jalapenos to the usual steak , peppers and onions. The portions were fantastic. Ate what I could and got the rest put into a Styrofoam container to go and got 2 more meals out of the leftovers. Was nice they brought out a red and a green sauce for the chips and nice large glass for the coke/ Pepsi. Service was good and food came out fast and hot and sizzling. It checked all the boxes. Would love to try this place again in the future.

Hubby and I stopped by for 2nd time. First time I almost fell due to the oily shine on floor. This time we gave it another chance. We were hungry. Got there and there was a male and female worker at door, I use a cane, neither one made an effort to open the door. Next customer had a gift bag in her hand and the same 2 employees raced each other to open door for her. I ordered caldo de pollo (chicken sou.) When it came the broth was so dark you couldn't see into the bowl. There were NO bones,NO potatoes, NO carrots, NO corn on the cob. Did have a gazillion mushrooms (NEVER HAD CALDO DE POLLO WITH MUSHROOMS AND I LIKE THEM!) I was hungry so I tried to eat it, but really, it was a bowl of vegetable stock and added shredded white meat. When I told the waiter, oh by the way, he NEVER came back to refill water or see if we were still alive. He told me that every thing in the soup was listed in the menu. It was NOT, I checked on the way out. So, if you want to waste 12.99 for a bowl of fake soup, be my guest. WE WILL NOT BE BACK.

So sad orders enchiladas and the first was almost frozen as you can see cheese did not melt. Called and they remade with yellow cheese still didn’t melt and taste like a bucket of salt was dumped in. Slightly worried they were angry about remaking so they purposely messed with it. Either way spent money on food I can’t eat. Worst enchiladas I’ve ever experienced. Staff seemed nice but I don’t think we will be ordering again. Don’t want to risk throwing more money away. They also jumped dump hot sauce, there isn’t a sauce or special enchilada sauce. Another big disappointment. I’ve never seen a Mexican restaurant do that.
