My boyfriend and I came here for a date night and arrived for their happy hour before going to dinner. The happy hour prices were amazing with many $5 plates and drinks. The waiter was extremely friendly and quick to bring us food and drinks even though it was very busy. The calamari, meatballs, and clams were delicious. Dinner was wonderful, my boyfriend got the strip steak and I got lamb loin, both cooked perfectly. The waitress was again so friendly and pleasant to talk with. She checked on us multiple times and made sure our meat was cooked as we wanted. I highly recommend this restaurant for a date night or even friends going to dinner.
Consistently, the food is quality and service amazing. The pre fixe brunch menu is a fantastic value. You get a cocktail, yogurt parfait, bread, entree, dessert and coffee or tea for $20. I had the prosciutto benedict most recently and was thoroughly impressed.
Great food! I thoroughly enjoyed everything from the focaccia bread to the local peach cobbler desert. Would definitely go again.
My husband and I have been coming here since one of our first dates, 15 years ago! Their food and service have always been outstanding!
Nice atmosphere. Food is excellent. Can't go wrong at any location in the Max restaurant group!
Always great food and good service. Have been going there 20 years and still love it.
The service was impeccable, professional, and personable. The selection on the menu combined with the specials make the epicurean selection top shelf. The olives appiteasers were a nice selection, the bread was so fresh, and the Caesar salad was lovely with a light dressing that was quite tasty. Add the fresh pepper and the fresh grated cheese and wow! The pasta was done just right, the sauce was so flavorful, it was heavenly. Nice size portion, just enough! The tiramisu dessert was massive -be sure to share it lest you will eat it all yourself!
Go bye at least once a month with my wife and sit in the bar area. Highly recommended making it for happy hour and trying the dry rubbed wings and meatball, you won't need a meal after that. Thursday is extra special with its half price bottle of wine special. Go early because it gets crowded.
We went to brunch this morning. Our experience was great especially due to your exceptional staff. Kim our server was very professional and helpful. We always feel very welcome whenever we come to Mac Amore.
Our meal was beyond amazing and our service the same. We we're celebrating a retirement for my sister and it could not have been a more fitting way for a retired person to start their life. Surrounded by her beautiful children, wonderful husband, fantastic food and service to match, we ate for hours! The calamari was crunchy and tastie, the pork fell right off the bone, the Toscano salad can NEVER be removed from the menu please and our drinks had the fabulous giant square ice cubes....finished off with the hazelnut baci dessert. Congrats to all!
Truly excellent food. I have never been to Italy so I cannot speak to the authenticity, but it was delicious which is all that matters. My girlfriend had a house sauvignon blanc the gnocchi with pesto and sausage and I had a sangiovese with the pappardelle, pancetta, shaved brussels, and shrimp in saffron lemon butter. Easily one of the best meals I have ever had.
We experienced the kindest staff and management I have ever seen at a restaurant. They made everyone feel welcome, and when there were issues on our end they made it seem like it wasn't a problem at all. Amazing place. Run very well.
You MUST get the Toscana salad, it's amazing. Everything else is great as well, but that salad ... a salad has never excited me before. Every time I visit this area, I stop here for dinner.
Max Amore is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Glastonbury to bring my real estate clients. Whether a new family is moving to town or I have a relocation client, I find that Max is pleasing to all. Great wine list, appetizers for sharing and fantastic menu with daily specials keeps me coming back.
I love the Bombolatti alla Modo Max. Everything is excellent from the menu to the wine selection. The wait staff is extremely attentive (as with all of the Max Restaurant Group) and very helpful to even the most novice restauranteur. A great place for a family dinner or a date night.
The happy hour food is amazing! Our waitress/bartender Shelby was so fun and really nice. This is a great place to unwind and have a fun time!
I enjoyed the three cheese ravioli. Max has set the standard of comparison when it comes to this dish! With it, I drank the Harpoon 100 Barrel Series #38 Docesna (Czech Hop Harvest Ale).
Great food, everything we ate was really good. Excellent server Stefan. Nice atmosphere, everyone is polite and friendly.
One my favorites in the area. Consistent food and service, always attentive and friendly. Great bar and wine selection and the chacuterie plate is off the hook. Do opt for the peppers and cheese on the side.
You can't find better quality food, drink and ambiance at a cheaper price for happy hour menu. Best happy hour around. Great service!
Usually come here for lunch with coworkers. The food is always fantastic and fresh. Bartenders are very knowledge and can whip up some tasty adult beverages.
Edit: Max, the owner, reached out to me and we had a lovely conversation and he was willing to hear praise as well as criticism. This is very professional of him and is very rare these days to see a personal concern for reviews. I'm changing my review from 3 to 5 stars and will edit it when I visit the restaurant again. And no, I did not receive any coupon or free dinner or anything of the sort. Since it's somewhat of a larger restaurant than others, I was able to come in before my scheduled reservation and was given a table. The service was good but the fries starter had little to no unique taste to be it's own item on the menu. The main pasta dish which we ordered had semi good portions for two in one dish. The main problem was there wasn't a lot of taste and the chicken was raw. People typically spend over an hour here because the food takes quite a while to get to you. The ambiance was good but I'm not happy with what I paid for food wise.
I've been there on several occasions for lunch as well as dinner and the service is always the same....fantastic! My last visit was with a rather large party for a birthday dinner, which included young children, and the staff was super friendly, patient and very accommodating. I ordered the mushroom risotto and as always they did not disappoint. Many of the patrons were first timers and all were very pleased with their meals, beverages, desserts & the service as a whole. A special thank you to our server Jessica for making our mom's, grandma's and great grandma's 78th birthday a success.
Olives and bread to start were good. Service was mostly good. I got the rigatoni bolognese which was very good. They put ricotta cheese and pesto in it why I really liked. Good wine list and plenty of other food options. Really liked the atmosphere. To finish I got the cherry sundae which was spectacular! Definitely recommend trying this place.
One of our favorites with consistent service and quality of food. You know you're going to get a great meal at Max Amore every time. We had a last minute dinner with friends and enjoyed a great night of conversation and food. Calamari appetizer was excellent. All of our meals were as well. If you've never been to Max Amore before you will want to go back several times and try everything on the menu!
It was overall a great experience. I sat at the bar and had the lunch penne vodka. It was a great sauce that was creamy and still Hot when it came out. The service was great and did not have to wait more than 7-10 min for my food. Overall great experience.
Words fail to describe how great our experience was. If you're looking for a place to really enjoy your dinner this is the place. Mark Conley, the owner is very attentive to all his guests. Made a birthday celebration feel like we were the only ones in the restaurant. Outstanding!!!!!
Good Menu and Great Service. The wood grilled flat iron steak was not quite what I expected in taste and texture from a Max. The medium steak was cooked perfectly. The Brussels sprouts were very good and the Gorgonzola butter was a great topper. The two end sections were a bit dry and tough. The center portion was much better. The excellent Cesar salad was very crispy and the dressing was high quality. The house bread and EVOO was very good but I wished it was served warm. The ambiance is classic Max's high end flair. The bar server was very good.
Was a little disappointed as the eggs Benedict was served with raw bacon and the mimosa was a little weak in taste. With the extra time it took to get our food, I hoped it would have been better. Otherwise, the service was stellar.
Did not care for my pizza personally, but the other dishes were fantastic and the happy hour specials were worth it. The bar wasn't too pa ked since it's tucked away so a great place for a calm quick drink.
The food was excellent and the service was good. Tables are smallish, but that is how you fit more people inside. I look forward to them reopening at another location.
Great atmosphere, and the food is delicious. The prices are moderate and not too bad. You can't go wrong with any of the Max Restaurants
Very good Italian food, very friendly and attentive staff. They accommodated our last minute addition of more people without hesitation or any issues. Seating was comfortable. I had the NY Strip steak - juicy and very tasty. My wife had the seafood diavolo and loved it. Being Mother's Day it was crowded and a little noisy but all in all very enjoyable.
Very few complaints about this Max restaurant, the first thing that comes to mind is it is sometimes a little dark to read the menu but using the flashlight on my cell phone takes care of that. The food has been excellent, last visit I had the 30 layer lasagna, that's a lot of layers, it was delicious. Service was excellent, we were rarely looking for the server, nice balance because nobody wants the opposite a server who is checking too frequently. I look forward to my next visit. Oh, new (well, new for me) reservation system with open table was very easy to use. We canceled our original reservation for Max Fish next door and shifted to Amore the night before with no problems.
Good food, clean place but be watch for knives flying from table onto your legs! Specially if you bought your trouser recently. No sign of Gulies!
Had an ok experience. My wife and I both ordered pasta dishes (and hers was the "most popular"). Both of our dishes were somewhat dry-not what we expected. Not a bad meal, but not what we expect from the Max brand.
We were in town for a convention. Food, wine and service were very good. Disappointed when we received the bill and the 20% calculated tip at the bottom was actually 30%. Left a really bad taste in our mouth. Not sure if this was an accident or done on purpose? We were going to go to Max Fish tomorrow night but will find a different place to go.
We came here with a large group on a weekend for dinner. Overall the food was pretty good. I ate way too much bread at the beginning. I got the Bombolotti al Modo Max, which was good, but a bit small. The service was pretty good as well. My real issue with this place is the quality and quantity of food and service just don't line up with the price. It's priced like a higher-end Italian place, but I can find much nicer places in the area and they wouldn't break the bank as much. Good food, but I can't see myself returning.
It was a nice dinner but certainly nothing extraordinary. The food was good not great. The service was fair not good. It was a busy Friday night as expected, but as a customer I expected a moment to relax. Unfortunately, it was a very rushed I am not at all personal. Food came out quickly. There is nothing specific to complain about with the service but it certainly was not a special night. If you’re stopping by for a quick bite this would be perfect with excellent Quality food however, if you’re looking for a nice evening out after a hard week at work and a moment to relax you will be disappointed.
Food and bartender was great until shift. We watch the older bartender kick a guy out because the drinks that were made were wrong and the guy just asked what did he plan on doing. It took at least 20 minutes to get our check after that dilemma. Bartender should retire soon
Had a reservation Saturday night. We were not seated until 40 minutes after our reservation time. Service was slow, which probably led to our long wait for a table. Food was good as expected, albeit pricey.
Food tasted good. Over priced pasta. 3 people ordered two lasagnas and bowl of penne, roasted brussel sprouts, and two desserts $105
I have been here many times and had great experiences, but my most recent visit--the first in 2 years--was mediocre. Our mains and drinks were excellent as I remember, but they only offered one kind of table bread, and it was not warm. My Caesar salad had frozen pieces of lettuce. Service was slow. Disappointing. I hope next time is back to what I expect.
We had a lovely event thanks to our waiter who was very attentive and great customer service skills however, the food.... ehhhh so-so! For the price we paid I was not impressed! The bread basket in the beginning.... the bread was cold and burnt, our appetizer were the best part. The calamari is a must as well as the mussels, stay away from the tomato soup (literally marinara sauce warmed up), our entrees meh! My mom had the clam pasta and I had the special pasta which tasted like beef stew and both pasta were completely undercooked! The half chicken meal is delightful and very tasty! We didn’t stay for dessert since the food wasn’t up to par. I wouldn’t return unfortunately!
Went early for dinner around 4pm. There wasn't a lot of people here yet but service was so slow. The food was horrible unfortunately. I was very disappointed especially for how much it cost. The salad to start was old, the lettuce was soggy I couldnt eat it. The waitress didn't get the hint that our salads weren't too great by us hardly touching them, I'm not one to complain so I didn't say anything. Then the pasta I ordered with bolognese sauce had pesto with it. This was not what was on the menu. It tasted ok but I wanted a meat sauce. I am very disappointed in this location, it's nothing like the one in west Hartford. I have to say I will not return there. I enjoy eating out very much and expect delicious food in return
Very good food, upscale and well trained wait staff. My disappointment lies in the fact that when we went there, the restaurant was very empty and when we asked not be seated near the kitchen, which was noisy, we were seated right next to the restrooms, with the majority of the restaurant empty. I don't like giving them a poor rating, but I felt that we were treated exceptionally poorly when we asked for a quieter table. We could have had a lovely table with great cuisine and an enjoyable afternoon, instead of being given the absolutely worst table in a restaurant less then 25% full.
You need a new chef. I ordered make your own pasta. Recieved a container 1/2 full with hardly any pasta, 2 pieces of broccoli, and handful of tiny mushrooms drowning in oil , way too many hugely sliced red onions (ordered reg onions), way too many roasted tomatoes. Maybe 20 tomatoes in a tiny pasta dish. Tasteless and not worth the money. I cook better at home.
My steak was supposed to be medium well. I had to send it back 3 times and couldn't eat it. We didn't stay for dessert, they gave me tiramisu to go. It was soaked in liquor, it was soggy, it was just bad. It was my birthday dinner and it was awful. I will never go back or recommend to anyone.
Pasta was hard, steak over cooked, service sub par. My wife an I have been here many times , never had an experience as poor as this . We won’t be back .
12/31/17. Went there for New Years Eve, it was awful! Waited for 1 1/2 hours for our food to come and when it did, my steak was cold with no flavor. I would have complained but I was starving, so I just ate it. Also, my drink was made wrong. My brother in law got a pasta dish which came in a huge deep plate but you had to look down into it to see the small amount of food he was given. Come on, how cheap is pasta? They couldn't even fill up the bowl! Very disappointing. It was our first and last time at a max's restaurant. Just awful!
