As someone who loves sushi but also doesn't love paying my left arm for the experience, this place scratched my itch. The food was extremely good. The veggie gyozas were great for my vegetarian girlfriend. All the dishes came out extremely quickly. The service was fast and they had a nice selection of alcoholic beverages.
I love sushi! I love good sushi even more! Sushi Teri has great food. The menu is about 2/3 sushi with the remaining 1/3rd comprised of Asian fair hailing from different parts of the continent . Most of the food, however is a rendition of Japanese cuisine. I was impressed at how quickly our food arrived (party of 5 no less) without any sacrifice of quality. Another perk... it's affordable. Good sushi and cheap sushi are different things. While I wouldn't call this cheap, I will say that it's not prohibitively expensive for most folks. Maybe not every night but even as a penny pincher I definitely wouldn't panic at the thought of shelling out for the bill here on date night. My recommendation: The sashimi dinner is a great meal for those who want to go light on the carbs. My favorite, however is the sushi combo. It comes with 2/3rds the sashimi as the sashimi dinner but has an assortment of sushi instead. I like it because I get the best of both worlds for an almost identical pricetag. Each comes with soup, salad and rice. Drinking alcohol at restaurants can be pricey but if you want to loosen up while you sushi up they have you covered. 10 bucks gets you a massive 36 ounce mug of Sapporo beer. Even as a person who doesn't like the taste of alcohol I still enjoy a giant crispy Asian brew with my sushi. So there you have it. Worth a go if you are in the neighborhood. I try and eat there every time I'm in town. I used to eat at Somethings Fishy in downtown Santa Barbara but switched because I liked Teri better. I don't know if He is still there but the last few times I went there was this old guy working the sushi bar who knew EXACTLY what he was doing. I think he may have been the owner. Anyway I thought it was fun to watch him work his sushi making skills so if you go by yourself or with a date (it would make for some great first date conversation during an awkward silence) I recommend sitting at the bar.
Amazing food. Amazing service. Our waitress, Violet, was excellent. Very kind and helpful and made sure everything we had at our table was great. Thank you again. Definitely coming back to this place.
My go-to sushi place when I'm in the area. Always good consistent quality services pretty good atmosphere is pretty good prices are pretty good. It's popular so it does get busy.
So much food!!! The Teri chicken is my favorite here. I love the cabbage salad with dressing, which they serve separately so you can choose.
Very good selection of rolls, salads, combination plates, and appetizers. Very busy on weekend nights, but worth waiting for! Excellent service, very pleasant and efficient servers. Good place for kids, with a kid's menu. The beef and chicken teriyaki are delicious! Sit at the bar, some seating outside (with heaters on cool evenings), inside tables and booths. Try their green tea, and red bean ice-creams; really good! Of course, Sapporo beer, house wines, and selection of hot or cold sakes.
Sushi Teri is always great. Don't like that different locations have different menus but that's my only complaint. They will make anything vegetarian or vegan for you. Great spot.
COOPER, the new server yall have is a saving grace. I changed my previous review from 2 stars to this because of him. He is a driven server who cares about his customer. He deserves a raise, if not, a cut of the tips.
Everyone at my workplaces counts as a regular at Sushi Teri. The waitstaff is very friendly, the food is always good (especially the hibachi chicken and steak...), and who doesn't like a big bowl of salted edamame? I'm not much of a sushi guy, but my coworkers tell me it's very good and fresh for the price. We're not talking Arigato level, here, but it's something to write home about. I've never been disappointed by Sushi Teri. Give it a try.
Very professional & relaxed enjoying our meal. Definitely going again soon Thank you Sushi Teri
I’m not sure how anyone could say this place doesn’t serve a lot of fish with their sushi… both times I’ve been here have been wonderful and serve more fish than I’ve gotten at any other sushi restaurant, with less hassle! staff is super sweet and very attentive and I’m very impressed and thankful. Shout out to the sushi chefs who’s faces I don’t get to interact with firsthand, thank you so much
Great spot. Sushi, beer and great company...is there anything better? PS...the noodle soups are the bomb.
Sushi Teri has been a mixed bag of tricks their whole life. The food is great, comforting and delish. The service is mid, but what the hell. They can NEVER get the sushi bar food and kitchen food synchronized. Sometimes hot food first, then sushi then appetizers. No shits given, what comes out, comes out. When with a gathering of people it is a disaster of some eating, some waiting, some wondering if their order was even received. Again...WHEN it arrives it is great.
Always love Sushi Teri when in town. We usually go to the Santa Barbara location. This was a pleasant surprise! We had a large family group ordering 1 offs left and right. They kept up with in stride. Thank you for a great family experience!
Violet was the best waiter! California Roll Spider Roll always the best sushi! Miso soup Rice and cabbage salad!
Bustling local family-owned restaurant serving up fresh sushi and a variety of Japanese food dishes in a large tastefully decorated space. We love the spicy edamame and miso soup as starters, followed by the "Linden", "Red Dragon" and "Monkey" sushi rolls. The sushi is always fresh, delicately delicious and layered with flavor. This is our favorite Japanese restaurant in all of Santa Barbara County.
Among the best food experiences I've had in the US. Nice environment and fantastic food for a reasonable price. I'm actually thinking I should probably reevaluate the other restaurants that got 5 stars from me, as this one sets a new benchmark. Thumbs up!
I eat at this restaurant monthly and have done so for many years and this is my first review. Cecilia was cheerful, prompt, engaging and delivered this delicious food which is my favorite combination. On the way out I got to chat with Luis, the manager and he was very interested to know if I needed anything else and how I was doing. Bravo to ALL at Sushi Teri!
This has been a local favorite for more years than I can count. The food is consistent & delicious. Dining options are available either inside, outside or to go. Easy parking and we always enjoy going there.
My husband and I ate here for lunch during a weekday. It is our first time for dine in. We have ordered takeout several times before. The service was fast and the rolls were fresh tasting.
Loved the dish I ordered, which was the Tonkotsu Ramen, also had some pork gyozas, and a California roll. Service was great. Did take a little time from getting our waters to actually taking our order. Nice atmosphere and music. Didn't feel rushed. Went on a Monday at about 8:30pm

We had an excellent meal of sushi here at Sushi Teri. I was very impressed with the speed of the service. We had a reservation for 6:30 and we were basically done eating by 7:30. Everything was really delicious. Our server was friendly and very helpful at accommodating my son's food preferences. My favorite sushi roll was the Girl's Night Out.
Appetizer and entree came so fast we were shocked. Sushi was super good, staff was nice and we had multiple people check on us throughout our meal.

Went here for Valentine's dinner. Super busy, as expected! We got sat quickly and it was great. Food is amazing as always! But I recommend coming on a slow day. Took awhile for refills on drinks and they didn't add more ice to our drinks. Great restaurant, just don't come on busy night, service won't be as good. Get the fried ice cream! Best in town!
Very good sushi and lots of other traditional Japanese dishes. Tons of variety and fun rolls like the crunchy roll and pizza roll. Service was slow though, so that why 4 stars instead of five.
The food was grate. Service was a bit off that day. When we where sited there was no napkins or chop sticks. When we did get our food we didn't get still any napkins so we got the ones next to us. The waiters and waitresses were really polite but we could see that there where busy. Over all grate restaurants just need to work on customer service.
Very good food but the service was somewhat disorganized. We had six people at the table and ordered several appetizers to share. There were no plates on the table so we requested some. The waitress brought three small plates. We asked for water and they brought one glass. Some separate orders were combined on one plate. Fortunately, the food was excellent which brought the overall score up.
The fish is good quality - prices are very reasonable - service is good. Get there when they first open. Their 'take-out' business combined with 'eat-in' makes it a busy & popular place. B+
Clean and friendly! Huge menu of Asian entrees and sushi dishes to choose from. All of their dishes have one thing in common which is all include a HUGE quantity of food. Most dishes are large enough to be split!
Back to Sushi Teri over the Memorial Day weekend, 5/2025. Definitely one of my favorite go to restaurants when visiting Santa Barbara. Review from years before below! My sis and I visited 40 mins before close. We enjoyed the service, the food and drinks, and are planning our next visit. Can't wait to return🍣🍚!
When you enter Sushi Teri you are greeted by a friendly staff and a clean yet generic decor. I ordered a tempura and teriyaki chicken combo with a California roll. It came with a huge cabbage salad (which consists of cabbage and thousand island dressing). The California roll was perfectly done, with a hint of sesame in the rice to eliminate any potential blandness. The teriyaki chicken was well made. Lightly sauced, not smothered. There was a variety of fresh tempura vegetables and giant ball of rice. LOTs of food. Their wasabi is fairly tame, but I'm not really complaining. Overall, a nice place at a good price.
Very good sushi and a comfortable atmosphere. The only negative about this restaurant is every time we go, we feel rushed. Can't explore all the options without someone coming straight up to your table and asking for your order. Rushed service , rushed food, rushed payment. Downtown location is much more casual. It has gotten a lot more comfortable and open with inside and outside seating.
Nice local, kid-friendly sushi spot/Japanese restaurant. Portions are huge, even for appetizers and kids meals, and service is consistently prompt and friendly!

Sushi place as you can imagine. They have a wide variety of sushi rolls. We ordered 4 rolls to share between 3 people. I liked the Philadelphia and some parts of the rainbow roll. The other two rolls were not so good (one with eel and spicy tuna). In general the rolls were tearing apart and ingredients didn't feel so fresh. They can also improve the food's presentation. The service was ok, things came out quickly and the prices are reasonable. But the sushi is not very memorable.
Just okay. Food was okay, service was okay and the atmosphere was okay. Everything was just okay. Pretty slow on getting our food but the nice server guy was very apologetic. I wasn't a fan of the rock fried calamari, it was weird. Top roll was good. My sister liked one of the dragon rolls. My brother-in-law got a HUGE portion of chicken katsu curry that he liked. Overall, it was decent, but I probably wouldn't come back.
Extensive menu with something for everyone. Primarily Japanese menu but a few Korean and other Asian dishes as well. The food was overall ok, nothing that stood out as exceptional (bland in fact for some of it) and some items are quite expensive. ☛Handroll special - large rolls, basic, comes with soup or salad. Opted for the salad (cabbage) is huge and quite simple but good. ☛Spanish mackerel nigiri on special, good but not worth the price. ☛Sweet shrimp, basic but decent. ☛Spicy veg roll (avoid, disappointed). ☛Sea Urchin, fresh but expensive. ☛Beer, served cold in a frosty mugs (how it should be).

We ordered the tuna roll. The tuna was mushy, and it tasted old. It was not fresh. The Szechuan chicken on a Bed of cabbage with some sauce on it. Was horrible. I Had a small bowl of rice, and even the rice was not good definitely gone downhill this restaurant we will not return poor quality food
The sushi was really mediocre. It was more like fast food sushi and for the price, it wasn’t worth it. We had the pizza roll, the spider roll, and a California deluxe roll. The server just casually handed over the food and mumbled the order. I had to ask what each roll was bc I never been there before. The rolls fell apart when trying to eat them. I was really disappointed. I’ll stick with Kyoto in SB. The price is very similar and the quality is way better in my opinion.
Got shrimp sashimi, it tasted really off, let the server know and asked if it was fresh, server asked the back, came back and said it might taste weird because the shrimp is raw. Duh. Anyways other than that fiasco the salmon sashimi was not bad! Very thin pieces though, not worth the price. I probably would not return.
Was so excited to try this place since they get great reviews, but I was disappointed honestly, for the same price you can get way better sushi, there was roll that was to big, the tuna I got was too thick for my liking and I woke up the next day sick to my stomach. Worth a try but not worth the experience unfortunately

Good place if you like rice with different sauces because that's about all you get when you order sushi. Even the imitation crab was barely there. I don't think I've had any worse. I paid over $40 for 2 rolls of rice and a hand roll of rice and mayo. Spend your money elsewhere.
Every.single.time. I come here I get AWFUL service, the sushi is mediocre at best. The staff is terrible, multiple waiters trying to take our orders multiple times. Forgot a dish for my friend. Spilled water all over a girl we were with, and didnt bring moso or edamame before the meal was served. Never coming back, you shouldn't either until they crack down on their garbage service.
Would love to write a review of their food but since they closed early I don't have the chance. It's extremely frustrating when you plan to eat at a place specifically because they are open later than other restaurants nearby and they refuse to seat you thirty minutes before their scheduled closing time. Disappointing. Just say that you close at 9:30 if that's what you consistently do on a Saturday night.
Disgusting. The servers were excellent as was the staff. My friend and i went to the location and the manager admitted their food was frozen food. I found out because i ate my food and it was freezer burned. I was also served unfresh fish. I honestly did not feel safe swallowing the food so spit it out. Be careful. The manager did not charge us for the meal. We left dissapointed. It is the first time i have ever had a situation like this happen.
My 11 year old daughter is infatuated with sushi and she started 6th grade today so I thought what a treat . So the two of us and a few close friends made the trip out to Sushi Teri in Goleta . We should have known this was going to be a bad experience from the beginning . After being seated it was a longer than usual wait for even water. After waiting a additional 5-10 min are server arrived and took both drink and food order for the table. Drinks arrived followed by the appetizers , 15-20 min later the food arrived well some of it . We waited around and watched other tables eat and leave mind you they'd been seated 20 min after are table. No server in sight only a busboy who was trying his best to help . Usual you a check in how is everything or can I get you anything, not here. At the 45 min mark I asked the busboy because he was the only one who seamed to care what was happening. I explained that most of the food we ordered hadn't arrived at the table he commented He thought he saw it sitting there for a while. A person who we believe to be the manager approached the table and insisted he delivered a poke salad he never did all the plates remained on the table as proof mainly due to the poor service. One would think the manager would make things right, maybe some sort of discount or comp or even offer to package up the rolls that were never served, that's how you take care of misshaps make it right. I will never recommend this poorly run place to anyone !!! What a disappointment ! It's unfortunate my daughter had to leave hungry due to your incredibly slow and terrible service !!! What a disappointment !!! So much for the special treat thanks for ruining this day .
I was looking to satisfy my hunger😋…HOWEVER 😕 this place was really bad. The sushis were MASSIVE for no particular reason, the tuna tasted weird and it was overall not eatable. I also ordered edamame and it had an odd taste. Expensive too.
