We stopped there for dinner after a show at DeVos. Loved the decor. Quite elegant and airy. We started with Fritturra Mista to share. Then I had Linguine Al Nero Di Mare for my entree and my partner had Berkshire pork chop. Both dishes were delicious. We ended our meal with two desserts — Delizia Di Limone and Torta Setteveli. The limone sphere was especially unique and very delicious. Highly recommended! Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable (though she spoke a bit fast so we missed a few details). Overall we had a great experience dining there.
Allora is a dining experience that feels both elevated and welcoming, with a sea-inspired design that immediately sets the mood. The interior is stunning—airy, modern, and tastefully infused with coastal touches that make you feel transported far beyond Michigan. Soft blue hues in velvety fabrics wrap the space in calm elegance, while pearl-like vases with delicate orchids add a refined glow. Overhead, chandeliers shimmer like bubbles rising through seafoam, complementing the famous painting on the wall. The food is exceptional. Each dish is crafted with care, beautifully presented, and full of flavor—striking the balance between creativity and comfort. You can tell the ingredients are top-notch, and the menu reflects both skill and imagination. We had blue steel focaccia, sauté de cossi and meatballs to start: just perfect. Next we had a round of pasta dishes, once again: excellent. Cocktails are layered and complex: Viale, Martini and Vecchio Stile- AMAZING. And dessert: we had Delizia Di Limone: delectable sphere of delicate lemon cream contrasting with sugar cookie base- again, AMAZING. Perfect place for special occasion or gathering with your friends, or if you simply want to portal into the bliss of a sparkling seaside, where elegance, romance, and wonder all flow together like the tide.
Allora is a newer restaurant that specializes in coastal Italian food. The staff is absolutely wonderful. They are helpful and make wonderful suggestions and are very helpful without being overbearing. The Ribeye is the best I have ever had. We could have just ordered that and been satisfied. We also ordered some pasta plates and bread which were also amazing. I literally had no words for the quality of the ribeye. Yes, it is expensive but quality vs price is perfect. Their negroni is exceptional. A hard yes on this place for a great night out. With tip we were a little under $300.
We were at the hotel next door for a friend's wedding and our anniversary weekend and stopped here for a nice dinner. The restaurant is beautifully furnished and a very comfortable ambiance for dinner. Overall we were really impressed with the service and price. Our server was very attentive, paced the meal properly and made good suggestions. My wife didn't like her first drink order but the server noticed and corrected this with a new drink order to replace that. The food was near excellent although a couple things needed work. The foccacia app was good and flavorful but for some reason not warmed up which was a miss. The caesar salad also seemed to be missing a bit of flavor maybe we are used to different lettuce though. Neither miss was bad - simple a small step away from top tier. But then the pasta and king salmon that we ordered were both cooked perfectly and excellent flavor. So a huge positive to make up for the slow start. The fish particularly was cooked to a perfect medium with a crispy skin. Simply one of the best fish around when cooked properly like this. We did not get dessert as we had other arrangements for that but overall a very solid restaurant, probably 4.5 stars for us but I'm not going to dock it from their rating due to the excellent service and vibe in the restaurant.
I celebrated my birthday lunch/dinner with family and friends here. The restaurant is beautiful, there's a very relaxed vibe and the music in the background pairs perfectly well with the excepcional food and cocktails they serve. The staff is amazing. Shout out to Parker, Emily, Kennedy, Tsion, Levi, the bartenders and the kitchen. They're all contributing to make eating here a delicious experience in every single way. Thank you and I hope to come back again soon. 😊
What a wonderful restaurant to celebrate a special occasion or anything else. Service was absolutely 5 star! The presentation and delivery of plates were beautiful, again 5 star! No rushing around, very calm atmosphere.
This was my second visit! The drinks are phenomenal-I tried 4 different ones and I can’t decide. Which I love most. We were seated exactly at the time of our reservation. Our waiter was very well informed of every single menu item and made perfect recommendations. The food came out at the perfect temperatures. I love that they already had new items since my last visit a month ago. The desserts were outstanding!!! Will be back as a regular! Brendan was great.
Allora is my new favorite restaurant in Grand Rapids. I’ve been twice since they opened and both times the food was amazing and the service was impeccable. This is one of the best dining experiences I have had. Each dish is packed with so much flavor and I love the attention to detail in every dish. Can’t want to come back again!
The food at Allora is, without question, the best in town. The service sets a new benchmark for hospitality—warm, attentive, and polished. The cocktail menu is incredibly creative, making it hard to choose just one; each drink bursts with complex, rich flavors. We especially loved the multi-course dining experience, which can be thoughtfully paired with a progression of cocktails. The wine list remains impressively strong, offering excellent options to complement any dish. Some of our favorite items include the Allora Salad, the octopus gnocchi, the meatballs, the yellowfin tuna, the cacio e pepe, and the ragu. The tableside steak is an absolute standout—expertly carved right in front of you and truly unlike anything else in Grand Rapids. Other memorable entrées were the filet and the pork chop, both cooked to perfection. The scallops were among the best I’ve ever had. Be sure to save room for dessert—the lemon creation is amazing, and that’s coming from someone who typically doesn’t like lemon. Overall, this was the best dining experience in town. We’re incredibly grateful to have Allora in Grand Rapids.
I recently visited Allora, the new Italian restaurant in Grand Rapids, and it was a fantastic experience! The atmosphere was cozy and stylish, making it a great place to relax. Our server, Levi, was absolutely amazing—super friendly and attentive. He really made our night special with his great service. I can't wait to go back and enjoy the vibe again!
This is a very great restaurant. This is a 5 Star restaurant hands down from service, food, the room. Great Craft Bartender in Justin, really great craft bar program. Really great GM in Parker. My first time was Thursday night. Everyone checks in on you for service and food. They care big time here, and service is great. For only being open two days when I was there, everything was great. Great pricing and was not expensive. And make sure you get your gift in a box when you leave. Great job Allora.
Truly one of the best meals + experiences I have had in a while. On par with that of NYC or Chicago! We sat at the bar, and it was the best choice! Our bartenders were 10 out of 10, super knowledgeable, attentive, and made our dining experience one to remember! Highly recommend the Tartare and pasta! Will be back many more times!!
Have been waiting for Allora to open since The Reserve closed. Had a wonderful experience. Our waiter Zion was awesome and explained the menu and courses so we could start to narrow down what we wanted from the excellent choices. Drinks were great and made perfect. Food was excellent and made to perfection. The lemon desert was AMAZING. Will definitely be back for more. Thank you
Had the pleasure of dining at Allora on opening night, and from start to finish, it was truly exceptional. The hospitality was genuine, warm, and made us feel taken care of in every sense. The food was divine. Every dish felt like it had a story behind it, crafted with intention and care. You could taste the thoughtfulness with every bite, from the savory entrees to the balanced desserts A special shoutout to Parker (the GM), who went above and beyond. I casually mentioned I had dogs, and as I was heading out, he’d already wrapped up the steak bones for me to take home it was thoughtful, unprompted, and seriously so kind. It’s little things like that that turn a great night into something memorable. Kudos to Allora for bringing such a thoughtful, elevated dining experience to the heart of downtown Grand Rapids
ABSOLUTELY EXQUISITE! Best Branzino I’ve ever had. Atmosphere is wonderful. Service is exceptional! Justin was a fantastic and charismatic bartender, ask for him if you decide to stop in. Wish I could give 10 stars. Please ignore and report negative reviews they are all fake to spread hate.
Such a great experience! Emily was a total pro—super friendly and knew the menu inside and out. The Orata Al Forno? That’s the fish to get—flaky, flavorful, and impressive. The Stuffed Eggplant was super rich and definitely for the eggplant lovers. We also had the Radiatori Cacio e Pepe Tartufo, and the seasoning on it was chef’s kiss—savory with just the right touch of truffle. And please don’t skip dessert—the Delizia di Limone was bright, refreshing, and lowkey perfect to share.
Wonderful new Italian restaurant in downtown Grand Rapids. Wonderful atmosphere and great tasting food. Had the Hapuku (New Zealand sea bass) it was so good. The limoncello dessert was to die for.
Allora was an excellent choice for a special occasion dinner. The Atmosphere, Service, and Food were all 5 Stars. Our group had zero complaints and agreed we’d definitely go back. Everything was made to perfection from the drinks to the food. Group of 4 Food Ordered: -Shared Starter: POLPETTE CON POMODORO E RICOTTA (Meatballs Qty 3) -Shared Starter: RADIATORI CACIO E PEPE TARTUFO (Pasta w Cheese) -Entree: FILETTO DI MANZO (Filet Mignon) -Shared Dessert: Tiramisu Drinks Ordered: -CASA SPRITZ -BEVANDA DI RISO -VECCHIO STILE (Old Fashioned) -Americano (coffee)
After concert meal was very delicious, as always. Sat at the bar, my preference.
One of the best meals I’ve been able to experience. Sat at the bar and had a phenomenal time. Good food, great drinks and most of all a GREAT experience!
Had a great experience. The mussels, oysters, and burrata were amazing. Our server, Maddie, was attentive and fabulous. People ripping on this being devos owned should take their complaints elsewhere and review this place for the actual experience they have.
We came in for drinks and dessert tonight after the symphony, Madi was our server. She was able to answer a question about a wine I was curious about, I ordered it, my husband ordered a different wine, and we were both very happy with our selections. The tiramisu I ordered was interesting and tasty. My husband's Torte was different from what he thought, but he enjoyed it just the same. This was our first time there since it used to be The Reserve. We will be back again for dinner for sure!Very pleasant atmosphere.
Absolutely love Allora! All of the food was delicious and we loved the decor and atmosphere. The orata al forno whole roasted sea bream was beautifully presented and the delizia di limone dessert was an out of this world delicious light dessert to end the evening.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Allora! Adam and Justin were amazing and gave us incredible food and drink recommendations. Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was great. We will definitely be back!
I'm not easily impressed and will not pull any punches when it comes to sharing my thoughts on a restaurant that aspires to excellence. My first visit to Allora was absolutely phenomenal. Every single aspect of the dining experience was exceptional. Ambiance, service, beverages, and food were all on-point. No attempt to impress with unnecessary frills or frivolous embellishments. Simply impeccable ingredients combined with expert execution. The green marble bar top is worth the price of admission alone. Even the base of the bar is lined with that gorgeous green marble. Very highly recommended
Amazing food and experience. Very knowledgeable server. Pasta made in house in fantastic! Cocktails are inventive and balanced.
Highly recommend! If you get a chance to sit with Justin and Levi at the bar you won't be disappointed. That pistachio cocktail is going to go down as one of my favorite drinks. Just amazing.
My co-workers suggested this restaurant and wow what an experience! We loved it from beginning to end and the service was phenomenal. Thier specialties are pasta and fish but I have to say I went for the filet and it was delicious! My coworker went for the fish and had the same reaction. We will be back!!!
Beautiful coastal decor, craft cocktails and gorgeous presentation. Food and service are excellent! A great spot for dinner, or just drinks and appetizers in the bar.
My wife and I recently had dinner at Allora to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The staff was incredibly friendly, they even took the time to give us a card signed by their team wishing us "Happy 25th Anniversary!" The atmosphere is great, the staff was great and the food was delicious! We'll be going back!
Our first visit to Allora and it exceeded our expectations. The service (Zion), atmosphere, and decor was wonderful. The food, awesome. I decided to order the eggplant because I was hoping it would be fantastic (rarely is) but WOW it was so good. I have only tasted eggplant like that overseas. We will be making Allora part of our Grand Rapids dining rotation. My next order will be fish --- can't wait to try it.
The food was great. We took their advice on how many dishes to order for the table and it was plenty. I recommend arriving earlier if you can. We had a reservation right at 4:30 when they opened. We ordered the pork chops which was amazing but the table next to us ordered it as well and they had already sold their last one.
We visited this restaurant for the first time before a show at DeVos Performance Hall. Quaint atmosphere with great food, very professional and polite staff. Great location. We will definitely return!
Allora offers a top-notch curated dining experience. The drink list is very creative, I recommend the Vecchia Piazza. The food is wonderful! Our waiter walked us through the menu and told us that we order everything at once. We had the octopus, the cacio e pepe, and the ribeye. Everything was so good. We can’t wait to come back!
This is our number one favorite restaurant in grand rapids. After moving from Chicago we are stoked to find this level of cuisine and experience. 10/10 recommend. We had the pork chop, squid ink pasta and limone dessert. Great experience, atmosphere, food, and service. Can't wait to come again!
Formerly Reserve Wine & Food, Allora is owned by The Windquest Group (Dick & Betsy DeVos) which basically owns downtown Grand Rapids and opened earlier this year. My expectations were very high. Upon entering the restaurant, you first have to enter a lobby area which leads into the restaurant. We arrived early and wanted to have drinks at the bar but it was full. We were told to come back for our allotted reservation (the bar only seats 8). The space is intimate with mostly table seating. Menu is decent. We started with the fried seafood, Aranci balls and yellowtail. Portions are small, food is unremarkable. Caesar salad had fresh anchovies, nice touch. Bread service is $10, so irritating. Squid ink pasta was excellent. Filets were good although not Prime and Ora King was decent, although 6 oz. portion not filling. They offer corkage fee for $50 bottle, two bottle max which we took advantage of although our waiter wasn't happy about it. Overall, Allora is nothing to write home about and nothing stands out on the menu. For a "coastal" Italian restaurant and owned by the DeVos family, our expectations were not met and will not return.
This place was pretty good. I ordered the tenderloin med. It was very good.but not cooked to medium. Im not a send it back person so I ate it. I'd go back though.
We had an exceptional experience. Our waiter, Levi, went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. Finding parking was exceptionally hard. We ended up having to pay $20 for parking as street parking was closed for the weekend for an event and there was a concert that weekend as well.
While the atmosphere and the service were great, the food did not stand up to expectations. As a group of four, we did order food family style, which we loved. However, every plate came out just a bit too salty. Where the flavors of the dish should have stood out on their own, it was masked by over salting the dishes. Sometimes less is more. I’d come back for drinks but probably not for dinner.
Atmosphere here is wonderful- upscale and cosmopolitan yet approachable. Good service, prompt and responsive without being over the top. While I only had a few small plates and drinks while sitting in the bar area, flavors were interesting but both food and drink would benefit from being more robust. The drink menu seemed limited by my tastes - many sweeter and fruitier cocktails (which, not having been to coastal Italy, could be on point for coastal Italian?), and a very limited wine selection.
Was really excited about a new italian resturant in town. Man did they spend money remodeling it from reserve. Unfortunately looking like it won’t pay off. Nice bar overall and good drinks. I will start with the best aspects. Service was sold but not easy to make a reservation. The deserts were great- amazing pastry chef!! However, they claim like several reviews to have great italian food. It’s a complete miss. For those of us who have lived in Europe and traveled around the quality of this food is not there. Limited taste and missing mark on many levels. Sorry to say but won’t be back until they change chefs especially for the price.
I couldn't find a pasta option that suited my taste. I wanted a pasta with a protein. There just weren't enough options. The rest of the menu was incredibly boring. I decided on the salmon and asked for a seasoning or sauce, which they delivered, but it was basically a sweet flavor with not much else. Great espresso martini though, and probably the best service I've had in my life. Loved the complimentary eclair. But won't return.
I arrived at about 5:30pm (Wednesday). When I looked at open table (4:50pm) there were ample tables available from 5:15pm to about 7pm, but like most places you cannot reserve a table for one person. Regardless, when I walked in the very kind hostess said there were no tables available for the evening and I would be seated at the bar. Normally this doesn’t bother me at all, however the bar at this location is quite small and faces really nothing as the windows are quite high. So you’re really just forced to watch the bar tenders, unless of course you enjoy sitting on your phone the entire time. No big deal. I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio that cost about $17 a pour, didn’t love it but thats my fault for not asking for another option. I ordered a Caesar salad- I pushed the raw anchovies to the side, but all I could really taste was an overwhelming amount of lemon. Every bite was like licking a lemon. I thought that was a little weird. I then ordered the filet, because I figured every upscale restaurant must have an amazing filet. This comes with an arugula salad and some sort of purée underneath that I cannot recall. The puree was good. I ordered my filet as medium, like I always do. I have to admit I was wildly disappointed. I’m no chef/expert by any means, but I have had my fair share of “expensive” steaks from many different areas. The middle of this steak to just about the outer of it was the same consistency of fancy feast. I was so confused. I had about three bites and really couldn’t understand what I was experiencing. The other patrons at the bar seemed to love their dishes, none with a filet though. I didn’t want to complain next to people that were actually enjoying their food, so I said nothing. I had it boxed up so I could have my son try it when I got home. Same review. I have to assume it was a bad cut, or maybe this just was not the place to order a steak. The only thing I took a photo of was my desert drink- casa spritz I believe. This was good.
Great atmosphere, pretty good service, not good food for the price. Spent over $400 for a group of 4 and the food felt very underwhelming. Not a single dish was delicious. We left not feeling satisfied with the meal, especially for what was paid. Also skip their take on carbonara pasta, it was rough. They need to fix their menu or lower prices. The ribeye also lacked depth and the sauce served with it was not appealing. It is also frustrating that the entire order needs to be placed at the beginning of the night. We would have ordered much less and called the night sooner if this had not been the case. I know that this is traditional in Italy, but if they want to work on being traditional they should start with their food. Overall, there are just much better options in GR if you’re going to spend decent money on dinner. Wine options are also very limited for the pricing, you’re not going to find anything of value there or you’re paying $300 for a good bottle.
This spot feels like Reserve 2.0, you're mainly paying for the upscale atmosphere and attentive service, both of which are undeniably pleasant. The food is good, but it doesn’t quite reach the “wow” factor you’d expect at this price point. While nothing was bad, the dishes didn't stand out or justify the fine dining cost. Overall, it's a nice experience, but the cuisine doesn’t leave a lasting impression.
Great atmosphere, excellent service, and top-notch drinks. The pasta, however, was a letdown. It tasted more like whole grain or protein noodles than traditional Italian. I’d still recommend it for everything else. Overall, a great experience. I just wish the pasta lived up to the rest, especially in a city where standout Italian spots like Amore are rare.
We went to Allora tonight for dinner. The service was great and the food was excellent, however, the table we were sat at was unacceptable. We were so close to the people next to us, they were closer to us than we were to each other. For this caliber of a restaurant, I felt like that was unacceptable. Much of the seating looked appropriately spaced out, but some of the seating is on top of the other guests.
We were kindly greeted by a nice host and from there it went south. We opted to sit at the bar because we like to see the ebb and flow from there. Bartenders/waitstaff were underwhelming, no real greeting, not very friendly, just took orders and pretty much ignored guests; it was weird. It was the bare minimum as far as hospitality goes, there was zero engagement. We ordered carpaccio which was covered in cheese. So much cheese that was pretty much all we tasted. Super salty, very dry with occasional crunch from capers. Crudo lacked flavor and mussels were okay. Drinks were good. The space was nice, pretty marble bar, light and airy. In most instances good service can make up for whatever’s lacking in the food department (or vice versa) but we did not feel that here. I wanted to like it but I don’t see us coming back especially at that price point.
Overall the food represented coastal Italy and the cocktails were great. Don’t recommend Pistachio Martini (yellow drink). Unfortunately our waiter was giving attitude. Gave me the impression of an “electric forest dude”, appeared severely dehydrated, tired and overall sassy. Gave my party a hard time on structuring the meals out. The rest of the staff were professional. Otherwise, just recommend for drinks at the bar.
I went here for my birthday dinner and expected a good experience which unfortunately didn’t happen. The food however tasted good during the meal despite the wait…However, our waiter was incredibly rude and made our party feel belittled. Laughing at us when we said a dish name and was extremely sarcastic in a rude way. One guest was gluten free and when she asked if the restaurant had gf pasta, the waiter responded with “nope, what is gluten free is labeled on the menu”. After dinner, we felt very bad and all had stomach issues, while we also did not eat any of the same things. Would not recommend this establishment if you are going to spend $200+ on a dinner. It was not a good end to the day when we were expecting a good meal.
