We celebrated our wedding anniversary here with friends celebrating theirs, and The Halyard made it a night to remember. The baked clams were the perfect start, followed by a juicy double smash burger and a beautifully cooked halibut that was fresh and flaky. A glass of One Woman wine paired perfectly with the meal. We sat outside facing the Sound, and I’d highly recommend it for the views and atmosphere. Our server Robert was attentive and courteous, which made the evening even more enjoyable. Warm, welcoming, and coastal—this is the kind of place you look forward to coming back to.

Absolutely loved our experience here! The new chef has completely redone the menu and the food is incredible — every dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully put together. The service was just as impressive as the food: friendly, attentive, and made us feel really welcome from the moment we walked in. The location can’t be beat — right on the water in Greenport with sunset views that are absolutely stunning. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality of both the food and service definitely make it worth it. A must-visit spot if you’re in the area!

This place was so good that we went two nights in a row. Incredible scenery at sunset on the sound top-notch food, attentive service great menu and awesome drinks. They were especially accommodating for us with a toddler.

We had such a wonderful experience at The Halyard for our anniversary! We were able to get the exact reservation time we wanted, and while outdoor seating wasn’t available, the indoor ambiance and service were just as lovely. Our server and the staff were incredibly sweet, the food was delicious. To top it all off, they brought us complimentary champagne to celebrate, such a thoughtful and memorable touch. Highly recommend for a special occasion or romantic night out. ☺️

On holiday from the UK I couldn’t fault the place. Amazing food, I’d recommend the streak, the lobster roll or the crab cakes. They were all truly amazing. We visited in July and the Sunset was a good as the one I saw in Zanzibar. The staff were super friendly and the young guy who served us was fantastic from start to finish. This place is 5 star if I could have given it 6 I would have 👍🏻

Hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. Bill and his team were so attentive and beyond accommodating. The beautiful view and sunset was just an added bonus. 10/10 would definitely recommend! We can’t wait to go back.

A Memorable Evening with Stunning Views at The Halyard We recently had dinner at The Halyard and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. This is certainly a fine dining destination, offering a well-curated menu with thoughtfully crafted dishes. We found the quality to be excellent – both the fish and pasta dishes we ordered were delicious and expertly prepared. The wine pairings were spot-on, complementing the meal perfectly, and the overall wine selection was quite good. One of the absolute highlights is the restaurant's location. If you can time your reservation to coincide with sunset, you are in for a treat. The views are truly picturesque and contribute to an unforgettable dining atmosphere. The staff were welcoming and friendly throughout our visit. While they seemed perhaps a little inexperienced in moments, their pleasant demeanor was appreciated. The restaurant had a lively buzz, with background music and the chatter of happy diners; it was a bit noisy but certainly manageable and didn't detract significantly from our meal. Given its quality and popularity – it's deservedly considered one of the better options in the area – we strongly recommend making a reservation in advance, especially if you're hoping for a prime table during sunset. Overall, The Halyard delivers a high-quality dining experience with excellent food and unbeatable scenery. Highly recommended for a special meal out.

We are truly grateful for the Halyard for providing such an exceptional venue for our wedding. The space was elegant and beautifully set, creating the perfect atmosphere for our celebration. The food was absolutely outstanding and exceeded all expectations — our guests continue to share how much they enjoyed it. Working with Kelly was an absolute pleasure; she was professional, organized, and made the entire planning process seamless. For the quality of the service, food, and venue, it was an incredible value. We highly recommend the Halyard to anyone seeking a memorable and stress-free event experience.

I have absolutely nothing negative to say. The staff was attentive & knew the menu as if they created the dishes themselves. Every plate brought to the table was returned without a morsel left on it. The view speaks for itself. We will definitely be back. The lambchops made their debut as a special yesterday, hopefully it will be added permanently to the dinner menu.

A Truly Exceptional Dining Experience at The Halyard Restaurant From the moment my wife and I walked into The Halyard Restaurant, the staff was warm and accommodating. We were initially seated by the sound-facing window, but when we requested a more private setting, the hostess graciously led us to a stunning table in the grand room—partial booth seating, nestled beside a beautiful bookshelf, offering both intimacy and a great view. The mezcal almond cocktail was an experience in itself—layered, complex, and expertly crafted. My wife enjoyed two glasses of red wine, which paired beautifully with our selections. We started with oysters, a beet salad, and scallops as the main course. Each dish was creative, thoughtfully prepared, and absolutely delicious. The oysters, in particular, stood out, served with a unique onion-vinegar sauce that was a revelation. The ambiance was perfect for meaningful conversation, and we spent a good portion of the evening debating future baby names—Enzo, Theodore, Mickala, Lana, and Dayman are all in the running, god help us. And then, dessert. If you take one piece of advice from this review: GET THE TOFFEE. It was phenomenal, especially paired with banana ice cream and chocolate gelato. This was more than just a meal—it was an experience. Exceptional food, a refined yet comfortable atmosphere, and a staff that truly understands hospitality. We will absolutely be back.

We had a wonderful Sunday eve meal, our reservation was at 715pm and arriving early we had a cocktail before seating. The cocktail menu is limited but when I described what I was looking for a beautiful (non menu) cocktail was served. My one “complaint” we were a party of 2 and where seated at one of the few tables that are not set so both guests can see the water. (My back was to the water). I asked the hostess who said the other tables were reserved. Oh well. Not sure how we could have asked for that, and it didn’t appear they were full. As for the food, we enjoyed super sweet oysters (Oyster Pond oysters) a wonderful steak, and the lobster pasta. The fries are outstanding, as was the broccoli rabe. Save room for desert. The sorbets are home made and outstanding as was the chocolate ganache. They have a solid culinary team for sure! And they have valet parking!

Caught this place on a quiet fall Thursday day. So. Not crowded at all. Got my wife and baby a nice deck table with a clear view of the water..awesome. Everyone was super friendly here. Food was great too. We shared a bacon clam chowder (9/10, seemed like it had 45 ingredients). And the lobster roll (8/10) and some truffle pasta dish (which was wonderful, 9/10). We washed it all down with two ipa beers.

Hello my wife, toddler, and I dined in at your establishment on Thursday night. Knowing that we had a toddler, we arrived a half hour early because we did not want to disturb the other diners. We were able to sit down at 6:05pm with a 6:30 reservation. Upon sit down we were greeted by our server Elton who could not be more helpful. Noticing our toddler was being a toddler at a nice restaurant we were able to take turns eating while we brought our son outside to try and calm him down. Now about the food. We frequented some other restaurants recently one being Jean Georges in topping rose of Bridge Hampton which the food was very good, however the food at The Halyard was on another level. The drink I had was phenomenal, “down the rabbit hole” it was called , extremely creative with the toasted coconut and refreshing. We essentially ordered very similar dishes. The tuna tartare was presented beautifully and just as delicious, the chili paste was not too overpowering still allowing the taste of the tuna to come thru, and the waffle cone it was presented on offered a hint of sweetness balancing it out perfectly. My wife’s summer cavatelli pasta was al dente obviously homemade, perfect balance in the pesto and the burata added another level of creaminess. I had the wagyu steak, perfectly cooked medium rare. The cut of the New York strip was perfect every bite being identical. I have included pictures. Thank you to Elton for your patience and understanding we were in and out in 45 minutes. Thanks to his help and the help of the staff.

The Halyard is an absolute gem on the North Fork. The view is gorgeous, the ambience and decor are flawless. The main lobby and dining area are crisp, calm and serene while the piano bar has the coziest old world charm with red leather booths. The swordfish and fluke were exceptional. Great options for gluten free (GF) diners. The waitstaff was friendly. Can’t wait to come back!

One of my favorite places in the world to watch the sunset and have a romantic dinner. The balcony seating transports you to an entirely different time and place, almost like visiting in Little Venice, Mykonos, no airfare required.

We love photographing weddings at the Halyard. Even in December (and on a drizzly day), this spot has so much to offer! Filled with cozy, beachy charm and beautiful waterfront views of the sound, we had so much fun creating photographs in this space and celebrating the couple! We can't wait to return.

My husband and I got married this past September at the Halyard and it was beyond perfect! We had a gorgeous beach ceremony facing the Long Island Sound. Our reception was held indoors in their beautiful restaurant with tall , vaulted ceilings and stunning direct water views. All of our guests commented on how unique and amazing our wedding was. The food was superb. The chef really customized our menu to all seasonal ingredients. Everyone loved the cocktail hour and dinner. They even have a rustic piano bar where we held an afterparty with live music. It really kept guests going and was super fun way to end the night! Erin, the catering manager was such a pleasure to work with. From the start she really helped us bring our vision to life. The day of she was there overseeing everything and making sure our day was such a success. I absolutely recommend considering the Halyard for your wedding, especially if you want something different then an everyday catering hall. It really is a beautiful unique space. Our wedding was seriously the best day ever!

Well there's a reason this a "must go to" restaurant - it knocks it out of the park in every way! Starting with the view, this is a large, open and airy dining area with a glass wall facing the water so everyone can be memorized by the ocean waves. The food is at the higher end of the price scale but deserves every bit of it - a wide variety of choices that are expertly prepared and delicious. And there's no lack of staff paying attention to you. Another bonus - occasionally John performs piano in the bar next door and is so talented you might confuse him for Billy Joel or Elton John. After a couple of drinks take him up on his offer of karaoke but don't worry - he's ready to fill in those high notes for you if you need help!

This restaurant showcases breath taking views of the Long Island Sound and a small beach adjacent to the restaurant. The Dining room is complimented by floor to ceiling windows as well as a small outdoor section for deck seating. Although this venue serves lunch and dinner Dinner time is the better choice as the setting sun provides a pastel and pink champagne hue across the horizon which is absolutely beautiful and accentuates the experience. I totally recommend the chowder soup to start followed by the Swordfish entree served on a bed of amazing creamy risotto rice and zucchini. Although I was celebrating a combo milestone event of my son's high school graduation with Honors and about to embark on his freshman year, this would also be a nice intimate location for either a date, family gathering or a relaxing evening with a loved one introduced to the parents first time. My Waitress informed that a wedding proposal occurred here just tge other evening which is the perfect venue for such an event. The relaxed yet elegant ambiance just melts away all stress and soothes the soul, as one faintly hears Tom Petty's "Last Dance with Mary-Jane" as well as the Band accents playing in the background. Almost neglected to mention a fantastic Piano Bar adjoining the main Dining Room. Finally, when calling in to set dinner reservations I could not help but notice "Classical Gas" playing in the background which was a fond reminder of that exhilarating Chess montage exhibited in the Netflix series "Queens Gambit." Making for a very Good Omen for an anticipated Awesome Dinner Adventure!

After battling bumper to bumper traffic on our way to Greenport, we were famished. We decided to stop at Halyard for lunch. We didn't have a reservation but it turned out not to be a problem. We were immediately seated at a beautiful table overlooking the Sound. My husband and I started our meal with a shared appetizer of Local Fuke Tartare which was an inventive and tasty beginning to our meal. I'd heard great things about their lobster roll's so we each had one. Great choice ! They came on a toasted Brioche bun, chock full of delicious meat and accompanied by a generous heap of French Fries. After all that we were too full for dessert. We are looking forward to coming back for Dinner to sample more of their excellent food and gracious service.

Went for the NYE prix fixe menu and had a great experience. Service, food, and atmosphere were all solid. Could have done without the balloons but hey, it was New Years Eve. Grabbed a drink at the bar after and sat in a booth.

As a Long Island wedding photographer, I highly recommend choosing Halyard to host your private event! The restaurant is STUNNING, the staff is incredible, and the food was delicious. The Bride and Groom had a 10/10 experience!

The Halyard had been on my to-visit list for a few months and I was happy to visit for a girls day out lunch and knock it off my list. Knocked off and back on again, as we will absolutely be returning! The space is gorgeous and the service was spectacular from start to finish. A few food and drink substitutions were requested and honored without hesitation. Our cocktails and meals were delish (deviled eggs & octopus appetizers followed by a burger and Halyard poached eggs). Our waterfront table had the most perfect view for an early spring day. Thank you for the experience, Halyard. I will see you again, sooner than later! -K

We went to the Halyard to celebrate an anniversary because I'd been wanting to go here and it did not disappoint! Food was great, staff was friendly, and the view has truly no comparison. Perfect location on the water and the decor of the restaurant is everything. We'll definitely be returning

Lovely place by the water. Had their whipped ricotta with truffles and honey! It's delicious!!!! A must have while you're dinning there. Also the Fluke ceviche was great. For entre had their cavatelli pasta with fresh shaved truffles. It was good, but it's on the heavy side. I would have loved a risotto with fresh shaved truffles instead of the cavatelli. Overall it was great!!!

Finally made it out to dinner here, yum 🤤 Soooo good and the best GF options right down to dessert! They are very accommodating and educated about GF. The fish and chips is awesome and the green hummus out of this world! My GF dessert was soooo good OH and the drinks! All very delicious and you can't beat the view anywhere!

The best interior design and overall aesthetic on the north fork. Crafted by none other than Studio Tack ( who we now follow around the world crossing each location they touch off of our most treasured lists ). Hands down the best view of the sound and sunset on the east end. Be sure to note that if staying in the rooms ( which are gloriously designed as well with malin+goetz bathroom products) that the traffic whizzing by at 90 miles an hour is loud and you will most definitely hear it. If the overall vibe outweighs the noise, (like it does for us) it is well worth the stay!

It’s the perfect location to enjoy the north shore sunset. We’ve been coming here for anniversaries. The food is really good. We were a bit sad to see the foie gras was no longer on the menu. Still great choices and the staff is always very helpful and attentive

Lovely dinner with friends for their Anniversary. Dinner was fresh, light and delicious, perfect portion sizes, attentive staff (resilient in the face of covid) with an unmatched view of the sunset over the sound to round out dinner. Foi Gras, terrine, shrimp cocktail, burrata starters were absolutely delicious and the steak, halibut, scallop and lobster main were perfect. Cocktails are strong so pace them, and you'll be okay. Will definitely be back! Thank you!

If I could have given an extra star I would! We didn't just have dinner, but enjoyed a dining experience! The staff was friendly and attentive. Everything from the drinks to dessert had a beautiful presentation. The flavor combinations worked splendidly!

We had the most incredible meal at the Halyard! As two tired new parents, we were so looking forward to a date night, and the staff took such incredible care of us and left us feeling so refreshed. Every dish was delicious, the service so warm, and the atmosphere with its view of the Long Island Sound is unbeatable. Ask for help pairing local wines with your meal and you won't be disappointed. We can't wait to return.

We celebrated a birthday here and I cannot say enough great things about our experience. The crudo of the day was tuna and it was amazing . The mussels were so tender and flavorful . The oysters were superb and the cocktail sauce was outstanding For entrees the swordfish was unbelievable . It was expertly prepared , its is a don’t miss! On the menu .The short ribs were so ,melt in your mouth, delicious. While we were quite full we had to try a dessert and they did not disappoint. Sugar cookie with peppermint gelato was so decadent the s’mores parfait was just the right amount of sweetness and richness. The chocolate and hazelnut gelato took us back to Italy, so good. Don’t miss the cookies with the perfect amount of chew and crunch.Chef George knows what he is doing and the service was perfect This restaurant is an absolute gem .

Had a wonderful evening at Halyard. Service was fantastic, the setting phenomenal, wine list great. My husband's chicken Caesar is one of the best I've tasted. My scallops were tasty but the too salty sauce they were served in detracted. Will definitely return!

We were waiting a while for this reservation, over a month. Did it deliver? Sorta yes. The food is top notch though not the best I have ever had. The menu is very limited. I think that hurts the restaurant. They need about ten more items to choose from overall added, IMO. Maybe another fresh fish option and another steak option as well as a few different salads. The service was great but they did forget something, minus the star. They ended up bringing it out late after we reminded them but no break on the price for it, just an apology and we ate the side towards the end of the meal. The dessert was to die for though. A simple Lavender Honey gelato was cool and perfect. My chicken dish was delicious with au jus on it. Perfect size. The Cod was small but good. The fingerling potatoes were.late but they were very good. Drinks were one of the best we have had. Overall, it is worth the views and experience. Just a few tweaks needed. We will be back. Tell 'em Barsnobs sent ya!

Came here for a drink while bar hopping. Pretty decent place with good view. Liked the settings and ambience. They have two bars which is good but the wait was pretty long for the drink. Just had fish n chips to go with the drink which was kind of expensive.

The theme here is flexibility. Everything from the staff to the grounds was accommodating and there's always a little something extra around the corner. One of my friend groups decided to make the trip to The Halyard and some vineyards from New York City (The BX & BK). When we arrived for lunch, the hostess was nice enough to check on which tables were available by the water per a request from one of the members of our party. She was able to offer us one of those. I observed her to be efficient and professional as she moved about the restaurant. I mention this because sometimes restaurant staff sacrifice warmness for expedience. This wasn't the case at The Halyard. We ordered several drinks from their cocktail menu (forgoing the wines because we were visiting vineyards afterwards). The "Garden Party" and "Paid Time Off" seemed to be that top two choices for the table. For appetizers we started with a dozen oysters and the Summer Truffle Tartine (The Tartine's taste was just fantastic!). We also tried the seared "Hudson Valley" Fois Gras (there are a lot of textures and tastes in that one which might catch some people off guard). For mains, the table went with the Lobster Fra Diavolo and The Bear Battered Fish & Chips both great options! After lunch we took a look around the restaurant. On the exterior, on the Eastern end of the restaurant there's a little porch, the entrance to which is adorned with flowers. The area could easily be mistaken for restaurants I've seen in other countries like Italy! The sound of the ocean made the scene feel romantic and magical! When you're done with that side of the restaurant, continue walking the outer perimeter until you reach the westernmost corner. If you did everything right, you timed your dinner to coincide with the sun setting in the west. If you and your dinner companion don't want to go home yet, come back around to the front of the restaurant. Walk down the path, past the hotel rooms and look for a stairway down to the beach. To the east you'll find a spot called "Low Tide Beach Bar." Maybe you just want to sneak in a romantic moment. In that case, find a couple beach chairs and get comfortable on the beach. Let the ocean waves be your music. ... (You're welcome). Need to know: The parking lot is across the street. So don't do two U-Turns like I did trying to park at the restaurant itself. Also, I was a little disappointed that the hostess didn't check vaccination status. It might be a good idea to sit outside until they catch up to the NYS guidelines.

C
Christina Thomas

The Halyard was a great stop on a north fork road trip. The location is right on the water, and we were seated inside on a particular cool and windy day. I’m sure it’s better being seated outside on the patio, when it’s warmer. We had the duck pate, beet salad, lobster roll and other dishes. All were very heavy snd rich, but great quality and taste. The duck was some of the best I’ve ever had!

V
Valerie Flanagan

Nice scenery, good food, decent service, and comfortable ambiance. But the staff rushed us out after we finished eating, no savoring a cup of coffee while enjoying the view. Also more pricey than the food was worth.

T
Talia Karasinski

Came here for dinner outside on a Monday and even on a slower night and celebrating a special occasion, we couldn’t get a table right on the water. The food was very okay. We got the lobster pasta which is one of their specialties, but the pasta was overcooked and they serve the lobster pieces still in the shell on the pasta which was just strange to me. We got the ceviche and crab cakes which were good. The crème brûlée was great. It’s good for a date spot, but I think only if you can get a table with the direct water view. The staff was friendly but we felt super rushed because they didn’t pace the food well and brought out a few plates at once when it would have been more relaxing to get them one at a time.

D
Dave Kenney

Limited menu, and it gets loud when the college crowd stays awhile. The Summer Cavatelli with Burrata is worth a try, as are the fingerling potatoes and crab cakes as side dishes.

J
Ju Zhou

We dined here since it was close to the hotel we were staying at. The atmosphere was really nice, but I would say that was all there was to it. We tried fresh oysters in town and it was a lot better than this restaurant's at around the same price point. The lobster was the biggest disappointment. It tasted like they just dumped the whole pot in water or just steamed it, VERY bland. The seasoned butter sauce they gave along the lobster was not good and we had to ask for just regular plain butter. Corn was really sweet since it was locally produced. Service was kind of slow. The food we ordered were not cheap, but be prepared to also pay a 3% credit card processing fee.

K
Kevin Paczkowski

Everything thing here is 5 star except the food. I asked for a rare steak and got medium at best.... it was poorly seasoned and extremely chewy. The appetizer was no better.... come for the setting and leave with the need for a drive thru to satisfy your hunger.

I

The views of the oceanfront are spectacular, the ambiance and the service of the waiter was great, and the food was fresh and delicious. The front desk ladies ( 2 hostesses ) from yesterday evening are another story. They were anything but TRUTHFUL and advised us that we (a party of 3) had to wait until 8:45pm to be seated for dinner because everything was booked, and with an attitude!!! We were referred to the piano room for drinks. I observed the tables and the majority of them were empty. I came up to waiter and told him what had transpired and asked to be seated for dinner since there was a large amount of empty tables that were not occupied. We were seated immediately with no issues! It looks like were discriminated against and lied to simply because we did not have a reservation! As someone who used to work in the restaurant industry, this is is a huge issue since it is simply unprofessional and terrible for business. I would not come here again!

K
Katie Neff

Have been here before and was excited to bring my friends here for my friend’s birthday dinner. We had a reservation but when we got to the front desk we were immediately given a lot of attitude by the 4 women working the front desk. They asked our reservation name four times, sat two other parties, then came back to then desk and informed us because we were a walk in we would not be able to get seating tonight. I told them we were not a walk in. So another 10 minutes later they sat us, right by the door. It’s called sound view, we want to sit by the window and there were plenty of tables. This is when I finally found another employee and asked if we could sit by the window that had already been set. I think we were discriminated because we were just three ladies in our 30s. I felt so ashamed and my friends felt really uncomfortable. So sad cause I had raved about this place to them and we were staying at the hotel. It was my friend’s birthday and we just wanted to be treated equally to the other parties who even got to sit outside and we were not worthy enough for that.

P
PiePie Weng

Firstly, I have to admit that the atmosphere here is excellent; of course, I traveled nearly three hours from the city for this. Now, let me talk about the steak at this place. I explicitly told the waiter that I wanted it cooked medium-well,but what was served to me looked like a piece of charcoal. When I brought up the issue with a staff passing by, he responded with the following: "This is medium-well as you requested. Our chef needs to sear the steak a bit longer to achieve the medium-well you want. If you want it less cooked, next time you have to order it medium so you will see the pink inside." Despite it being my wedding anniversary that day, I refrained from arguing with him because I didn't want it to affect the mood. I can't believe this meal, valued at almost $60 after tax. What I hoped for was him addressing the issue, not providing me with such a response.
