What a gem in downtown Hartford! We had a fantastic meal here and I will absolutely be keeping this spot in mind for dinner before or after a show at The Bushnell. We visited the day after Valentine’s Day, so we were able to take part in their crab and burrata salad, as well as their fig and ricotta special appetizer of the day. We were so impressed at how tender the veal ossobucco was, and the ravioli I had were so unique in an orange citrusy sauce. Our homemade biscotti even came with chocolate truffles made in house! Our server was very professional and attentive, and the restaurant was so beautifully decorated. Since this was my first time, I’m not sure if it was decorated just for Valentine’s Day, but it definitely was a nice vibe for our date night!
Fabulous dinner! From start to finish, we had a wonderful meal! Arincini, meatballs, figs, calamari, and artichoke appetizers were awesome. And, our entrees were sooo good. Truffle pasta, short ribs, and Chicken Saltimbuca were fabulous! Great restaurant!
Peppercorns grill is certainly a special place the food the atmosphere ,and the service. my waitress was amber ,and she certainly made my night special with her great service the food was amazing and so were the drinks. I got the rigatoni allá vodka and the tagliolini with saffron and shrimp. I would highly recommend going to peppercorns. I hope my review helped you.
Celebrated an Anniversary here. Everything was outstanding. The Valet parking eliminated the frustration of finding parking. Waite staff was great and food was just outstanding. Beef carpaccio, fried Calamari, Ossobucco and the ribeye all delicious! It was the first time in years I actually liked the mashed potatoes at a restaurant. What a cool place. Very busy restaurant and bar. Above average cost but worth it. I let them know it was our anniversary and they did a great job of seating us out of the traffic lanes. Five Star for sure. Loved it and will be back! Thank-you for a really enjoyable dinner.
Came to Peppercorn’s for my sister’s engagement party. It was a party of about 40 people. The food was amazing. From the 3 types of bruschetta to the calamari, to the sea bass, all the way down to the cannolis, everything tasted great. The service was amazing too, everyone that helped us was friendly and attentive and met our needs. I can see why this place is one of my sister’s favorites.
In my opinion, one of the best restaurants in Ct. The ravioli is handmade and better than anywhere in Ct. There is also a big list of specials daily and a great martini list.
I have been going to this restaurant since 1984/1985. Last night we had dinner with a couple that we haven't seen in a few years and I picked this spot for us. I had the beet salad which was out of this world. We also ordered the tenderloin meatball app. DELISH! The Salmon was ordered for the entree and hubby said it was the best Salmon dish he has ever had. The sauce really made the dish. I had the homemade fettuccine with lobster and crab with a very light cream sauce. Out of this world. The steak dinner was also ordered and it looked really good. We had cocktails first and then ordered a bottle a wine. You can go big on wine on $$$ but what I can say that they do very well is their wine selection for under $50.00 is really super. We ordered a Ridge Geyersville from Sonoma for $47.00 and they had another Ridge for $37.00. Those are great wines and I don't see them offered in other restaurants. It was Friday night and the place was packed at 6:30 and thinned out at 8:30 with just a few diners coming in. I have been there on theater night and suggestion on that is go to dinner after the theater crowd leaves. I have brought clients to the bar to celebrate after a closing because I love the bar and bar area. The service has never let me down. I have to say I am going to surprise my team this year for my Christmas party and have it at Peppercorns this year because the atmosphere and the food is just too good. After I finish writing this review I have to call and make the reservation. There is a parking lot adjacent to the building and you can park on the street which there is plenty of room. If you want a change from Max Downtown or TK - make the effort to drive just a minute more down Main Street and get the best surprise of your dining life. Salute!
My friend and I always like to participate in the Taste of Hartford and, after looking at the variety of restaurants, we decided to try Peppercorns Grill. What a great experience - the food was amazing and all the wait staff were fantastic! I'll be back and I'd highly recommend that you go also.
Think of trying new places but there is always something new on the specials list and I know the food will be good. Dino is willing to make something special if you ask as well. You can't get that everywhere you go. This place is on the top of my list.
Such a nice experience. Took myself on a little date and the food was absolutely delicious, every bite packed with flavor. The service was also super friendly and I loved the low lighting and spacious layout.
Thanks Josh! Our drinks were great. Refreshing as well as tasty! Thanks to our bartender Josh.
My first time dining at Peppercorns Grill was a great experience! The waiter attending us, music, the calamari + Caesar salad to start, my Entree was the bolognese fettuccini and last but not least favorite course DESSERT. DELICIOUS! Perfect date night.
Great place for happy hour - great food, great service, great prices! Considering the quality of the food is would say the regular menu prices are also very fair, and would be a nice place to go just for dinner as well.
Another gem my Hartford friends. Come and grab a bite. If you dare. The menu is hot and the bartender is hotter. Makers will spice it up even more. On one of the hottest days ever in this indians summer..... I couldn't help but celebrate just a little I earned it.
My New favorite place😍 Went there for my birthday dinner and I loved it, the food, the service and the atmosphere was amazing.
I took my wife here for Valentine's day before going off to see The Book of Mormon. Every time we come here I am so impressed with the excellent and delicious offerings. This time we shared the most amazing fettuccine with shaved black truffles. Simple and heavenly dish. The osso bucco was tender, moist and flavorful. For a salad, it was served up with micro-greens, pistachios, pomegrante, blood orange and baby radish. Everything was so good that we discussed just coming here for all of our nights out ;-).
Really good food. Awesome good customer service. I really recomend this place for a romantic evening.
I believe they had a Italian name for this plate, but it was Grilled Salmon, well done. It was good, the host was amazing. Shoutout to Marcel!
Outstanding. So many amazing flavors. It’s always a great experience.
I was looking for a romantic restaurant that my boyfriend and I can celebrate our 3 year anniversary and I am so glad we ended up at Peppercorns Grill!! From beginning to end it was a lovely experience! Hercules was our server and he was so attentive! The food was delicious. We’re looking forward to coming back.
Amazing food... everything is good. Each and every thing we ordered was out of this world GOOD. the wait time was l9ng from hen we sat down to when we got served. But it's worth the time. Authentic staff and restaurant was very cozy. Deffinetly will be coming back again
The staff was welcoming and attentive. They made the dining experience exceptional.
I would characterize Peppercorns as fine dining in every respect. The meals were excellent. The special entree of the day was pan seared Branzino with baby potatoes and haricots vert. Beautiful presentation and delicious. There are a number of unique pasta dishes and the red sauces are made with San Marzano tomatoes. They clearly pay attention to details. The atmosphere was perfect with table linens and the wait staff was pleasant and efficient. All in all, we decided we would be returning again on a special occasion.
Peppercorn’s Grill is an absolute gem in the heart of downtown Hartford. From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed with warm hospitality and the enticing aroma of authentic Italian cuisine made with love and precision. Every dish we tried, from the handmade pastas to the rich, perfectly balanced sauces, was outstanding — a true testament to the chef’s artistry. The wine selection is excellent, and the desserts are an absolute must. Equally wonderful is the location: Peppercorn’s sits in one of the most beautiful parts of Hartford, surrounded by charming streets, historic architecture, and an inviting urban energy that makes the whole experience feel even more special. Whether you're visiting for a romantic dinner, a celebration, or a spontaneous night out, Peppercorn’s Grill offers an unforgettable dining experience in a setting that showcases Hartford at its best.
Popped by & the staff was warm and helpful. Much appreciated!! They make their guests feel great. Mahalo :)
I took my girlfriend for a special dinner at Peppercorn‘s Grill, and it was a remarkable experience. The menu was sophisticated, but yet there is something for everybody. The service was impeccable and friendly, and the atmosphere was elegant and inviting, but not stuffy. This is now my favorite restaurant in Hartford.
Peppercorns is amazing it is a local staple, and it feels like family. Chef Dino is amazing, and he is so passionate and creative about what he does, and it shows as you can taste it. You must try Rosa fabulous homemade desserts too!
attended Peppercorns friday night before a show at the Bushnell. very crowded and vibrant, great to see in a Hartford Downtown restaurant. would love to see more of that energy in the hartford area! food was delicious! 6 of us and not one person left a crumb on their plates. great service from the staff as well - we have been going to peppercorns for years, always consistent with the food, thank you!
Loved this restaurant! Within walking distance to Bushnell Theater which we attended. Had a fabulous fig ricotta honey balsomic drizzle with pomegranate seeds. Loved it. Their meatballs were very good and gnocchi delicious. Dessert was chocolate bread pudding and homemade pistacchio cake. The atmosphere was lovely and not loud so ee could comfortbly converse. Hope to go back soon!
Great place. Excellent food. Great service... Bar staff incredible.... Don't wait ..Go ...
the food was so good, but the server Jackie .. she gave my husband and i 5 star service ! she was very helpful and friendly which makes us want to come back more often ! i love how attentive she was and how she made sure we were good the entire time!
Great food, reasonably priced for the quality. Big wine menu, creative mixed drinks. We got there at 4:30 and service was very quick, but that didn't change as the room filled up toward 6pm. Nice and close to the Bushnell, which is why I picked it, and offers a 15% discount on entrees to Bushnell ticket holders. Recommended over all.
We held a corporate dinner here and everything was flawless. The food was delicious and service was excellent. I highly recommend Peppercorns for an event or just dinner and drinks. Dino is also a super nice guy.
I came here with my boyfriend for happy hour before seeing a show at the Bushnell. Happy hour ran from 4 to 7, which was great sense it was in extended time frame compared other restaurants nearby. They had drinks anywhere from $5-$7 and good appetizers. There was only one person behind the bar however and I think that made service a little slow, because it was really popular night. However everything was delicious and I'd recommend it.
Attentive staff. Delicious food. Great service. Only disappointment was the octopus appetizer we ordered but the lobster ravioli was out of this world and so was the wagyu ribs!
Above average Italian restaurant. Staff is friendly and services were excellent.
Several occasions they'll be owner I think the food is a perfectly great of an experienced how to take out the brought to me last Wednesday it was beautiful the boobs are a good hot and warm service and great atmosphere
Service was slow, rude and lazy. Tragic combo. Food was excellent. Tri-colored salad and meatballs great. Fettuccine like moms homemade
Had a lovely Mother’s Day lunch here. The food was delicious. I would give 4.5 stars, only because there was a mixup in the ravioli we ordered. But they corrected their mistake and gave us a fresh order and also offered us complimentary desserts. Great food and ambience!
Tonight I made last minute reservations on my way to the Bushnell nearby. I was easily accommodated. Greeted with a smile and seated immediately. My server was delightful. The meal I selected was salmon with green beans and potatoes with a blood orange aioli sauce. The salmon could have been cooked a bit longer. Overall presentation and flavor were excellent . Prices are upper $20’s to $50’s depending on your selection. The atmosphere could appreciate a bit more contemporary flare, however it was clean and appealing. I would definitely recommend and return to this restaurant next trip to Hartford.
Small yet popular Italian restaurant in downtown Hartford. Went for the taste of Hartford event. Although I had a reservation, it took 20 minutes for me to be seated & after about 10 minutes of sitting, my date and I were moved to another table. No server/waiter ever came to take my order, offer any water/bread, or even introduce themselves. Donna, the hostess, took our order and provided great service, although she’s not a waitress. My meal was pretty good and so was the beverage. The dessert (not pictured) was a berry infused tiramisu that was not enjoyable at all. I understand the restaurant is quite popular, but staffing seems to be an issue. I’m not sure if I’ll return but if you’re looking for decent, authentic Italian food, feel free to give this place a try and absolutely make reservations ahead of time!
I like the food here and it’s a very nice place as well! But the grilled chicken and roasted potatoes are pretty bland. The roasted potatoes are a bit dry. But the food my dad ordered was pretty good, well seasoned and good sauce. Even so, I don’t think it was rlly worth the price. I’ll put a picture of his food below, my didn’t look very appetizing anyway, so I didn’t take a picture of it.
Made a reservation here before attending a performance at the Bushnell just down the road. We were seated right away. But it took over 10 minutes for a server to come over to see us. It took another 20 minutes to receive our drinks. Surprisingly our dinners came out very quickly. We elected to get the appetizer with our meal as I didn't want to be late for the show. The meatball appetizer was very good. My wife had the Lobster and Scallop ravioli and she really liked it. I had the Rigatoni Alla Vodka. It was good, but not the best I have had. The menu claims it is the best around, but I would disagree. I was a little disappointed in the service (even more so based on the menu prices).
so i went there in November of 2025 with a friend, The food was delicious we enjoyed our dinner so i decided to go there for valentine that was a mistake had reservations 8pm wasn't seated until 9:40 he food wasn't good they mess up my friend order salmon with asparagus it came with string beans when we bring it to there attention the server was like oh we ran out of the asparagus
I have never been here before. i was not impressed. Order a drink i was told about 15 mins later they don’t have the main intro make it. so i ordered something else a peach bellini, terrible. then I ordered the soup lentil. It was a ton of lentil in a broth that had absolutely no taste.. I ordered the main course which was rigatoni. I gotta say it was very good. I wouldn’t run back because you have to ask for everything salt and pepper ever since Covid came on the scene. They won’t put salt and pepper on the table to be fair. I don’t think any restaurant does anymore, which is stupid if you want grated cheese you gotta ask for grated cheese . It’s an Italian restaurant grated cheese should be on the table. Order tea, hot tea with milk just a regular black tea and I did not get it little disappointing. I don’t think I’ll run back but to each his own.
My fiancé and I went to Peppercorn's Grill yesterday before our show at the Bushnell. We had a delicious meal that was unfortunately accompanied by horrible service. We were seated at a ridiculously small table that was so wobbly we had to keep our feet on the table's stand the entire time. And even then occasionally it would wobble so bad our drinks almost spilled! We ordered our food and then waited almost an ENTIRE HOUR for our food to come. The food was indeed amazing although I would have liked to have more time to eat it! I also asked for a lemon wedge that never arrived. Right after the food came I let our waitress know that I would need the check right away because we were scarce on time because of a show we had to attend. We had to quickly eat our meal and even after all that the waitress forgot to bring us our check back! She apologized but we were in such a rush at this point we didn't even have time to use the restroom before we headed off to our show. Not at all what I expected from a restaurant that appeared to be so nice.
My family went here recently and had a negative experience. The appetizer we were given was not the appetizer we ordered. We mentioned this to the waitress, and it was not taken off the bill. We ate it anyways since we were hungry, so we didn’t have a problem with this. At the end of the meal, we were given our check and we paid, however our card was charged for the wrong table’s bill. The other table’s bill was larger than ours, so we noticed it when we were given the receipt to sign. Upon alerting the waitress, she corrected it. The waitress we had was working very very hard and covering many tables. I assume she was spread too thin, thus causing these issues. Overall, this was a very negative experience for such an expensive restaurant.
They have no idea how to manage reservations, table service, or cook. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left it was pure disappointment. My shrimp tagliolini was supposed to have what sounded like a lush saffron sauce. It was dry and overcooked. It was missing items and lacked taste. My sister's dinner the rigatoni a la vodka was both overcooked and overhauled. It took an hour to get us our dinner without appetizers or sides. If you were hoping for a water glass refill, you'd be disappointed once again. It was loud and the tables are very close together and hard to navigate. Talking was almost impossible. I could not reasonably recommend this place to any of my friends.
We never received our dinners and had to rush out to make a show at the Bushnell. We were starving by the time the show ended at 10:30 pm. The waiter knew we had a show to get to and assured us we had plenty of time (we arrived 90 minutes before show time). This is NOT the restaurant to go to before a show or if you expect to receive your meals in a timely manner.
We went for Valentine's day so I understand things were busy. The place was super unorganized, one hostess was seating people without checking reservations so couples with later reservations were being sat first, menus were laid out in a huge messy pile on the stand so the hostesses had to shuffle through them. One hostess went to seat us but it wasn't ready yet, so this other hostess (i believe i heard her name was Denise but im unsure) said she had a table for us. It was all the way in the back, we had to squeeze past other tables sideways to get to the area, and then when we got there, it was back between 3 other tables. The hostess even had to tiptoe squeeze between the chairs to put the menus down then looked at me and said "I dont know how you'll get to the table but enjoy your dinner" then just walked away. We had to ask the couple at the table in front if one of them would kindly get up so we could get to our table. Once sat, the tables were so close that our waitress was basically standing hip to shoulder with me and the woman at the next table because of the limited space. Our appetizers were very underwhelming, the tomatoes in the caprese were not ripe and there was barely any basil and the squash blossoms (my husband and I favorite appetizer to make ourselves) were very bland. We did have to wait a while, even after our appetizers were cleared, however my husband enjoyed his rigatoni alla vodka but my lobster ravioli was a very small portion (only 4 ravioli) and the cream sauce flavor completely overtook all of the lobster. The only good thing about our experience was our waitress was very pleasant, and our desserts were delicious. Otherwise, everything else was a horrible experience for us, especially on Valentine's night. It was also extremely loud and hard to talk to my husband at a regular volume.
