Amazing family restaurant. This place is the real deal. Authentic as they come. You could order anything and it would be delicious. I love the Vietnamese pancake with bean sprouts and all of the soups.

I've been here many times, go about once a week and it's always top quality at reasonable prices. They allow you to customize your orders as well which is nice. I would recommend trying to go during off times though because it gets pretty busy during main lunch hours.

B

Hands down the best Pho in the Southbay. I prefer the more exotic food in there such as pork leg, pork blood, escargo etc. Great service, too. Just watch out for parking. It tends to be tight, especially during lunch and dinner hours.

We love going to Thai Lai for a simple, delicious weeknight dinner. Don't be fooled by the name; this is actually a Vietnamese place. Though the restaurant is small and not much to look at, the food is great and the people are wonderful. They always stop to talk with us. Make sure to ask for the banh mi sandwich! It's not on the menu but it's absolutely delicious and it's only $3! If you go at lunch you can also order the soup bones they use to make the pho with big chunks of meat on them. Though the pho is good, order one of their many soups. They are very unique (since most Vietnamese places just focus on pho) and incredibly delicious. The BBQ duck with egg noodles is my personal favorite. Though it's simple, this restaurant is definitely a favorite!

My family have been coming here for over 15 plus years. If you want althentic vietnamese food this place is the way to go. Honestly everything on the menu this delicious and tasty. From pho to vietnamese coffee you won't be disappointed. They have so much to choose from. I come here every other week and I love it. Service is ok CASH ONLY

Love this place, it has very delicious soups and very friendly staff. They also have a good thia rea and boba, I like to go even when I'm sick and I want something nice and warm. I've gone sick and come out feeling better. It is really good comfort food too.

Love this place. I have been coming here since the 90s. The staff is extremely friendly. Food quality has not changed and still delicious as my first visit here. Consistency is definitely at Thai Lai.

Grreat Food for Reasonable Price. Ive been visiting this place for over 8 Years. Friendly Environment and Staff. The Avocado and Honeydew Bobas are good to finish my Favorite is #14 Mix Soup with Fried wontons. And the Fried Egg rolls witg Lettuce.

H

My favorite non-pho Vietnam restaurant in the area (for pho I'd go somewhere that specialize in pho, like Pho Hua a block south). My favorites are banh xeo (crepe appetizer), mi quang (egg noodle), bun bo hue (beef noodles), com ga thap cam (chicken rice), and the plain sweet yogurt drink they sell at the counter. The rice combo dishes are all good as well, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Service could be a bit slow depending on the day, but it's no worse than any asian hole-in-the-wall family-run joint. For the price though, I'd choose this over any fast food chain any day.

Review: I recently had the pleasure of dining at this incredible restaurant, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. The authenticity of the food is unmatched, making it a true gem in the city. The dishes are not only delicious but also reasonably priced, which is a rare find these days. What truly sets this place apart is the atmosphere and the people. The staff are genuinely kind and not driven by greed, creating a warm and welcoming environment. It’s clear that they care about their customers and the quality of their service. If you’re looking for a place that offers authentic cuisine, great prices, and a heartfelt experience, this restaurant is a must-visit. It’s a hidden gem that you won’t find anywhere else.

My all time favorite Vietnamese food restaurant. I used to work in El Segundo and came here for lunch often. I am still coming here with my wife in the weekend. We like their beef pho, seafood egg noodle, shrimp/pork rolls and BBQ rice plate. Store owner is very friendly (actually just like a friend) to us. It is sort of those kind of "comfort food" feel for us although we are not Vietnamese.

Came here on a rainy Saturday morning around 10:30AM. There was hardly any customers and plenty of seating. The food menu was expansive and everything looked yummy. I had a hot Vietnamese coffee with a duck noodle bowl. My friend ordered the beef bowl and both were delicious. I'm definitely coming back. Just make sure to bring cash as it's cash only.

My pick for the best Vietnamese restaurant anywhere near the South Bay. One of the only places you can get banh xeo crepes, and they are excellent, served with a variety of fresh Viet herbs (not just mint like other places do)! Pho is very good, a bit on the sweeter side (which I enjoy) and with plenty of the different meat cuts in the dac biet. Other dishes like spring rolls, egg rolls, vermicelli bowls, rich dishes are all excellent. My only sorrow is that they don't deliver and they close every day at 6pm, otherwise I would eat this food twice a week. Love.

This place serves very authentic Vietnamese food, although the name starts with "Thai" which may confused non-Vietnamese ppl like myself. Been here may times for many years and their food is always consistently delicious. Their pho and noodle soup are excellent, as does their rice dish "com". Highly recommended to all.

Literally a house, so this is as home cooking as you get. AMAZING Pho. Don't come here for the atmosphere. Come here for classic, authentic Vietnamese food. They also are very quick at preparing orders to go, so that's another great option.

This place has been a Vietnamese food staple in our household for years! They have a variety of dishes and since it’s local, it’s our go-to for Vietnamese food. They offer a whole lot of dishes/options which is nice. We’ve ordered takeout and dined in many times and their food is always good. Their fried rice is quite good! Their parking lot is a bit small so when it gets busy, it can be difficult to get a spot, but it’s not too bad at all. Since they have their own lot, it’s quite nice (not shared with any other businesses). The owners are always sweet and kind. Definitely recommend supporting this local establishment!

The restaurant is a small family owned business. The woman who runs this place is so sweet! She's super fast and her English is really good. They only accept cash, so make sure you bring some with you! Their thai tea and bun bo hue with blood was our absolute favorite 😍. The best I've ever had! The portions was perfect to fill you up and I asked for rice noodle instead of vermicelli and she was able to accommodate with no questions asked. She also helped my friend spice hers up to a very satisfying level! We both spent less than $20 each for a meal and drink.

My first time to Eat at Thai Lai. Food tastes really good. Out of the 3 dishes I ordered, nothing is heavy on soy sauce, fish sauce or hoisin sauce. Everything is tasty without being too salty. The baguette (Bahn Mi) is crispylicious! I love it! The price is right and they are NOT assuming like other restaurants that "suggests" a minimum tip percentage. We should support businesses like this! Bring cash cause it's a cash only restaurant. Ample parking beside the establishment! I will be a regular customer from now on.

It’s a small restaurant but good quality. The food is delicious & has right Vietnamese taste. For you guys who like soupy food, you should try mì Quảng or different types of bún, not just Phở. My bf is a big fan of bánh mì (Vietnamese baguette). He said this restaurant would be in his top 3 Viet bánh mì. The price here is so affordable. You’ll be surprised like “What?? In LA, with this price, are you kidding me?”. But dont forget to take cash with you. They’re good old fashioned Viet restaurant you should try.

On our way home from LAX, the traffic was horrific, so we decided to stop in nearby to eat and hope that traffic dies down. We found this on Yelp, I had my parent's with me and we all had a taste for different dishes from different regions of Vietnam. Not often do we find a place that had everything we wanted to eat! We started off with savory pork and shrimp crepes, banh xeo. It was nice and hot right out of the oil. We loved how crispy it was with a hint of coconut milk in the batter. A lot of places tends to use the fatty pork pieces, but we liked that the pieces we got were leaner pieces. My dad's a huge fan of mi quang, so we got the a-ok nod from him. Mom loved her seafood egg noodles dry with broth and sauce on the side. She said the sauce was very good. Again, got the a-okay from mom. One of my favorite things in the world to eat is bun bo hue. It was fine, but needed more lemongrass, spicy oil. It wasn't a bit spicy, but overall still good. Now we have a place to go wait out the traffic!

Cash only. Busy lunch location for the area. Standard menu items that cover rice to noodles, a big menu for a small mom and pop shop. Small parking lot can get hard to get out of during rush hour. Maybe easier to park on the street instead.

Ordered the everything in it Pho, it was good, can't say it was the best I've ever had. The soup became gelatinous after refrigerating which meant it was made with lots of neck bone, a very good thing. The shrimp in the curry fried rice has a mushy texture, but the flavor of the rice was good, not sure if I would order again. Fried eggs rolls was very good, very authentic, a bit fishy from the shrimp. But I love it. The steak over rice was very good, a bit too sweet for my taste. All and all was good, and the overall pricing is excellent. it's westminster price, a very good thing.

Thanima P (Naka)

Good Vietnamese food. I have tried a lot of dishes and have enjoyed them all except for pho. Their pho broth needs a little more flavor for my taste. Other dishes, however, are great. They give you a good portion with reasonable price. It's a family operated restaurant so the staffs are very nice and accommodating. Their homemade yogurt is also really good.

B
Brooke Bourlet

Let me tell you about these spring rolls. Great meat to veggie ratio, solid pork sausage (taste varies greatly between restaurants/brands), but what makes these really special is the fried noodles(?) inside. That crispy crunchy goodness takes these babies to a whole other level. Honestly I think all other spring rolls are ruined for me now. I believe the nem nuong spring rolls are typically served with fish sauce, but we got them with the peanut sauce as that's what we prefer. I did think the peanut sauce was a little bland, but the spring rolls themselves were so good, I didn't even care. The grilled pork rice plate is also delicious. Really tasty meat with broken rice. Pro tip: if a Vietnamese restaurant uses broken rice for their rice place, you know they're doing something right. Cash only but can't be mad about it. Prices are fair and food is delicious.

The flavor in the food is amazing 🤩 I originally came to try their pho 🍜 but I ended up getting their combination fried rice and their wontons and I fell in love 😻 They offer parking aswell! Service was excellent.

I have driven by this place several times and it doesn’t look like much on the outside but I had a good feeling about it. As soon as, we walked in the Aroma of the kitchen was Amazing!! Plenty of “pick up orders” on the countertop! Menu had lots of options. Pho and spring rolls +peanut sauce and flavors did not fail super yummy! Customers were eating happily just like us. Service was great and attentive. Returning soon !

Family run service, so it is not professional but cordial. Have been here only two times and have avocado smoothies and pho. The smoothies is not diluted with too much ice and is good. Pho is a bit too sweet for me.

They don’t know what spring rolls are. I was handed egg rolls and some lettuce to wrap the rolls in. 2/5 they only get a point for the food being fresh and piping hot. No real shrimp in it, pork is ground pork. The pho was mid. 3/5, would only return if I REALLY wanted pho but Pho Daisy was closed. But more likely I’d just go to Boiling Point instead and have hot pot. Thai tea was perfect. Strong-ish but not too sweet. My only regret is that I didn’t order a larger size of that. Cash only, great service, owner brought the food to my vehicle. They just need to make better food.

My go to Pho spot was closed, so I decided to give this place a shot. When I received my order, I immediately knew something was off. NO BOWL!!! When I returned to work and opened my bag, there was the usual broth container and bags of veggies, however, the noodles and meat were in a square to-go box, NOT A BOWL. I looked for the little cup of hoisin sauce I'm accustom to, only to find one small packet! Really!? Not enough to give the Pho it's flavor. As much as I want to give 1 star, I can't because they do give you alot of food. I prefer quality NOT quantity, so I would not recommend this place and I will not be returning!

This place is nasty and disgusting I recently started working near so I googled near by restaurants and they were across the street I called my order in and went to pick it up noticed how dirty the place was the place was crowded so I’m thinking it must be good I go back to work open the container and find my shrimp friend rice with a side of hair I called back tell the woman she said bring it back I’ll give your money back when I go back she calls me to the side with the money in her hand so I’m sure it’s not the first time My advice to future customers don’t go here just eat your own hair

Walked in at 7:30 on Saturday night. The first words out of the waiters mouth is "the kitchen closes at 8". Food was just average, service was average as well. This place use to be good. Maybe the owners should work more often and not leave it to the kids to run it in to ground.
