The best dosas and vadas in Hicksville. The Rava Village Special Dosa is my go-to—it's thin, crispy, with onions, garlic, butter, and cheese. The chai is excellent. Rajiv is especially kind and helpful. Very friendly service and good quality food.

I am editing this review from my previous experience a few years ago.It's one of the best vegetarian restaurants in Hicksville.This place may be small but their service and love for food is excellent.Rachana is an absolutely wonderful person and takes orders perfectly.Each and every item on the menu is top notch in taste and quality.They can custom make your orders on request and are very polite and humble.We missed them when they closed a while ago due to some technical issues.I am so glad there is a vegetarian restaurant in Hicksville which serves food that reminds of home! Absolutely gem of a place! I am a regular customer and will be for a long time now.

We travel from Brooklyn to dine here - it’s that good! I’ve said more than once to the lovely co owners that their chutneys are the best quality I’ve had outside India and they are unlimited. And their dosas beat the competition by a wide margin. IMHO, what tends to generally pass for a dosa in this country is just…not! Here you get the real deal. The staff are also just so lovely, always make us feel welcome and offer excellent suggestions when we’re in two minds about what to order. We just love this place. It’s one of our all time favorites.

The food here is exceptional, reminiscent of a delightful home-cooked Indian meal. Every dish is incredibly flavorful. I've sampled a variety of appetizers and main courses, all of which were superb. The service is outstanding; the staff are incredibly kind and attentive. Despite being fully booked, the hosts ensured we received excellent care throughout our visit. I would definitely recommend.

This cozy little Indian restaurant in Hicksville surprised me with its authentic and delicious food. I ordered the North Indian Thali, and it was fantastic—a perfect sampler of rich curries, fluffy basmati rice, warm roti, dal, and a sweet treat. Each component full of bold, balanced spices. The service was friendly and attentive, and the restaurant had a simple, no-frills vibe that made the meal feel homely. Street parking was easy, with spots available near the entrance. This is in my “GoTo list” when I am nearby.

I really enjoyed the food at this restaurant. Ambiance: it’s a very casual restaurant. It’s also a bit small so if you’re coming with a big group, I advise that you call ahead. It’s a simple set up for a comfortable hangout or dinner. It’s a great place to bring someone who wants to try authentic Indian food. Food: I LOVED their dosa. It was a large size and the sambhar it came with was so flavorful and delicious. They have us refills too which is great. The chutney it came with was nice - was a good contrast to the sambhar. We also LOVED the dry Manchurian. It was so crispy and well seasoned and sauced. We enjoyed it so much we ended up getting a second order. Service: they were very busy but service was still great. They were patient and answered all our questions and took our order quickly. The food took awhile to come out. Price: very reasonably priced and worth it too considering the large portion sizes. Amazing spot for some tasty South Indian food. Their is a lot of variety of dosas and other dishes to choose from. They also have a decent selection of North Indian dishes such as Chole Bhathura. The restaurant is small and can get packed really quick so I would recommend coming early as possible especially if you intend to have dinner.

The best South Indian and perhaps the best Indian Restaurant in Hicksville area. Matka dosa is highly recommended! I love the sambhar and rasam. Even the North Indian and Indo-Chinese food here is amazing. Everything here is good. You can order any dosa or uthappam and you won't be disappointed. The staff is very friendly.

Awesome South Indian vegetarian restaurant in the area! Flavorful and different from the usual. Matka Dosa is a must try! A twist on the usual, a crispy cheese and spicy gunpowder dosa with a side of paneer bhurji. Really well executed. Kothu paratha was also somewhat unique and different (though there are other places in the area that have the dish). North Indian thali, poori bhaji, and bhatora were equally appreciated around our table. Would recommend!

I found this Indian restaurant on google somehow yesterday and my intuition served me well! This food was amazing and inexpensive. As vegans, it’s hard for me and my partner to find restaurants with healthy and flavorful options that don’t involve any fake meats or tofu. The owner and waiters were so nice and accommodating. They said they can make anything vegan so to order whatever we wish and so we did lol. The copper cups and platters were even more of a plus. We are definitely coming here again the next time I don’t feel like cooking. I recommend the cauliflower and puffy bread with chickpea masala.

This is a cute and cozy place with good service and excellent food. One of our favorite vegetarian places recently closed and we’ve been trying to find our new go-to spot for Indian breakfast. This is it. The food is top notch. Presented well, and tastes amazing. Can’t wait to go back!!!

With my sister in town we were looking at options for “good” indian food in Hicksville and after a friend’s recommendation decided to give village a soul of India a try, and oh boy it’s a keeper. A cozy place packed with a menu of good tasting food. We arrived early close to when the place opens , We were greeted warmly by Rajeev. Though it was early , the restaurant was not packed, but there were good number of people. We ordered masala dosa , Pongal , a thali , coffee and for take out idli and uttapam. Food was delicious! Absolutely great in hospitality too .

We visited this place after seeing how crowded it always is, expecting great food. Ambience and service were good, and the variety of dishes — South Indian, North Indian, and Indo-Chinese — was impressive. However, they don’t take reservations, so we had to wait about 45 minutes for a table. The food was disappointing. The Manchow Soup and Veg Manchurian were overly salty, while the Paneer Chettinad lacked flavor. Only the Paneer Tikka Masala and Garlic Roti stood out as good. The biggest letdown was the dosa — the Paneer Pondicherry Dosa had too many onions and only came with green chutney. Places like House of Dosas or Chennai Dosa in Hicksville do a much better job. Overall, despite good service and ambience, the inconsistency in food and long wait made the experience underwhelming. Doesn’t live up to the hype and wouldn’t go back.

Ordered Mysore Bonda but got Punugulu with onions in it instead. How is this Mysore Bonda? You should atleast change the name of the dish on doordash or stop serving this under the name of Mysore Bonda

I had a very disappointing experience with a server named Survinder. He was extremely rude and unprofessional throughout the entire interaction. I was overcharged for extra sambar that I never even received. When I called to address the issue, he was disrespectful, repeatedly cut the phone off, and refused to properly resolve the mistake. On top of that, he would not allow me to speak to a manager. Being overcharged for something I didn’t get, combined with such poor customer service, is unacceptable. This needs to be addressed immediately, and I will be reporting this matter.
