Excellent oysters!!! Andrew at the bar made some perfect cocktails and was fun and friendly. We ALL were pleased with our dinners. We recommend the crab stuffed flounder, the seafood marinara and the warm lobster rolls. All of these dishes were fresh and delicious. Donna our waitress was working hard, but she was very attentive and friendly. The fiod came out hot and fast. The views from the dining room are superb. This is a must visit if you'd like delicious authentic fresh seafood.

Beautiful restaurant with amazing seafood and great service! Definitely recommend the yellowfin nachos and getting a seat outside. Our server, Serenity, was the best! Everything was cooked perfectly and there were so many fresh options to choose from. The restaurant itself is full of history and has an adorable gift shop with fun items and old imagery. Overall a great experience and can’t wait to go back.

I had a great experience at Bahrs Landing. The service was attentive and friendly, and the outdoor seating offered a perfect spot to enjoy the waterfront view. The location is excellent, the seafood was fresh and delicious, and the menu had a wide selection that made it hard to choose. A wonderful place for both the atmosphere and the food.

Even off season- Bahr's brings its best. Had a wonderful lunch from the lunch menu & the cocktails were top notch! We sat next to windows with a view of Sandy Hook. It was a great day!

We had lunch here on a sunny Sunday and found this place to be perfect for seafood and cocktails. The staff is super friendly and understands that when you arrive on a hot day you are best offered a glass of water with ice. The menu is rich and seamless food is all we had. The drinks menu is also great. The cocktails ate prepped with attention to detail. The tables were clean and maintained hygiene standards. What deserves a special mention? The view is perfect here, would definitely love to try during sunset. What could be better? The cutlery could be cleaned properly before wrapping with towel. We found some stains.

We went for Valentine’s day, which at most restaurants slows up the service, but our food and drinks came out in perfect time and we had the best service! Donna Y was our server and she was one of the nicest servers we have ever had and helped me when I was indecisive with what to order - she was the BEST!

Loved this place. Stopped for early dinner (around 4:30) on a Saturday, on our way home from Sandy Hook. The location, the atmosphere, and the food were delish. Hubby and I shared steamers, and then a mixed clam bake of sorts. Typical pricing for NJ seafood. I would definitely go back, even if just for a cocktail at the outside bar. I wish I remembered our waitress name... she was very kind..I think it was Darlene?? (Could be wrong 🤦‍♀️). Wait for an outside table was not long...again I think we just missed the crowds getting there 4:30ish. Definitely recommend as a place to stop on way home from Sandy Hook!!

Went here for the first time for mine and my wife's 10 year wedding anniversary with our two children and the food was delicious and the service was excellent! thank you to Donna for serving us! We are definitely coming again!

Stop by for a quick drink and a snack. Place was steady even at 2:00 in the afternoon. We sat outside at the bar the service was great and the view and weather was amazing. Definitely need to come back and have dinner.

Such an enjoyable dinner. I started with the New England clam chowder. It was so creamy and the taste was very good. My main course was the stuffed flounder. It was so fresh and tasty and it was stuffed with a delectable crab stuffing. There was so much food that I took my leftovers with me for lunch tomorrow. If you are ever in the area, Bahrs is a must!

Great spot for seafood! The lobster roll was really good. The sides were good too, especially the baked potato. Service was friendly and quick. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.

You can’t come to New Jersey and not stop at Bahrs Landing seafood ! The atmosphere is awesome right along the inlet, especially sitting on the outside patio. For starters, the fried calamari was fresh, and great flavor. The stuffed shrimp entree was superb and one of the best baked potatoes I ever had. Our server Nicole was very attentive and great personality.

I don't give out 5 stars. This is probably my first time. BAHR's . I brought my wife here for her birthday she likes restaurants that you can eat out doors and overlook water. Our first time ever at Bahr's. It was great, Seafood Galore!! We had several dozen clams on the half-shelf and oyster. The clams were only 15 dollars a dozen! That is cheap, all very fresh. Good wine menu and drink menu. We also had the shrimp cocktail, the steamers, and 2 dinners. My wife had the lobster tail dinner and came with 4 4oz lobster tails, vegetables, and potatoes. I had the broiled seafood platter, came with shrimp, scallops flounder, 2 lobster tails, vegetables, and potatoes . All the lobster tails were stuffed with crabmeat, real crabmeat. For dessert, we had the keylime pie and the blueberry crumble alomode. Everything was fantastic. I will be coming back all summer long. 15 dollar dozen for clams on the half, that is well worth it just to come and eat them. One last item if you are paying by credit card, your card never has to leave your hand. What i mean is the waitress brings the scanner to you, and you scan your card. Very safe. That way, the card never leaves you. This way, no one can skim your card. Great idea.

Quality seafood at a venue with an amazing view. Bahrs is a institution and landmark of the NJ shore. Definitely worth even a day trip to start or finish a weekend at the beach. Thank you for another memory.

Enjoyed lunch outdoors with a wonderful view of the water. Our waitress Lauren was very attentive, always checking in on us. Food was fresh especially the potato pancakes and crab cake sandwich! I would definitely come back!

Really excellent meal with beautiful views. Both Manhattan and New England clam chowders are great as are the biscuits for dipping. The hot lobster roll is tasty and the coleslaw, that you can get with the meal, is great also. The broiled scallops were delicious and the sauteed spinach done perfectly. Look forward to returning and trying something different.

My wife and I come here every year for an anniversary. Everything we had was delicious. My favorite was the lobster bisque but the key lime pie was also amazing. The views are also breathtaking.

Cannot go wrong here, have visited many times but not recently. The food has always been good. Had scrumptious clam strips, coleslaw and french fries. Delicious, honest staff too, I left my debit card on the table by accident and the manager brought it over to me as we were leaving. ❤️🤗

Any place with blue cheese olives for a dirty martini is a winner in my book. Great cocktails and delicious food. I usually go for new england chowder, but their manhattan is amazing. I’ve been for lunch and dinner, both great, and with a beautiful view. The crowd there spans from casual to more nicely dressed, so don’t hesitate to stop in if you’re casually dressed.

I dont eat seafood, but when I do, its at Bahr's. I prefer their 1.5-2lb grilled Lobster (without stuffed crabmeat) and corn on the cob. Excellent staff and exceptional food!! Great for family and friend gatherings

This restaurant will always be one of my favorite! My husband and I went tonight and once again had a wonderful experience. Our waitress, Renee, was absolutely outstanding—friendly, attentive, and made us feel so welcome. The menu is one of the best in the area, and we are always happy with both the food and the service. I truly cannot say enough great things about this place. Highly recommend!

Haven't been here in years. But what a wonderful evening. we started with a few cocktails. we than proceeded to shared plates. Calamari, raw clam, mussels with Thai curry, asparagus and crab meat. Everything was super delicious. Scallops, fried shrimp, fish and chip, broiled cod and lobster roll. When I tell you,we really enjoyed each and every dish. Great night, sharing family and great food.

Bahrs Seafood Rating: ★★★★★ If you're a seafood lover, Bahrs Seafood is an absolute must-visit! From the moment we walked in, the inviting atmosphere set the stage for what turned out to be an unforgettable dining experience. The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the seafood itself—everything was super fresh and cooked to perfection. Each bite was a testament to the quality of the ingredients, from the succulent shrimp to the tender fish. It was evident that the kitchen takes great pride in sourcing the best seafood, and it certainly paid off. A special shoutout goes to our waitress, Nina, who truly made our visit extra special. Her warm and attentive service added a personal touch that elevated our experience. She was knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations, ensuring we made the most of our meal. Thank you, Nina, for your exceptional service! We’re already looking forward to our next visit and hope to see you again soon. If you're in the mood for delicious seafood and a welcoming atmosphere, Bahrs Seafood should be at the top of your list!

This restaurant has been on our list for a long time. We love places that have been around forever. The location is great, the bay views are amazing. We went off season, for a late lunch, were seated immediately, our waitress was friendly and attentive. There’s a lunch menu, and a regular menu. We ordered from both, lots of selections, pricey. The restaurant has a long history (since 1917!) and one can walk around and see artifacts and other displays. There’s a gift shop. One can seat in the large dining areas, or outside, or at the bar. Accessible. Parking can be challenging. Now… the food is just… okay. It’s obvious they’ve been making these dishes for a long time and it shows. Everything was very bland, needing salt and spices. While the food arrived fast and hot, the biscuits could have used more time in the oven, and the calamari could have been crunchier (it was a bit soft). A $25 half lobster roll with cup of soup was disappointing, with the Manhattan clam chowder full of potatoes and no clams and the lobster roll had a small piece of lobster sitting on top - and shredded lobster salad making up for most of the “lobster. The potato pancakes were good looking,”but heavy and dense, and needed salt and taste. The fish and chips, while large pieces of fish, were just … okay. One delicious item were the chips that came with the lobster roll. I expected bagged chips, but these were hand cut, thin, crispy and delicious! So was the drink we ordered, a tropical punch. So good. Go for the atmosphere and to cross an old fashioned restaurant off your list. Share an appetizer and a drink! Save the seafood orders for another place.

🌊 Bahrs Landing Famous Seafood – A Scenic Spot Worth Visiting I recently visited Bahrs Landing in Highlands, NJ, and overall, I had a great experience. The location is gorgeous—right by the water, which makes for a lovely backdrop while you dine. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the seafood didn’t disappoint: fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. It was a bit crowded when we went, so the service was understandably slower than ideal. But even with the delay, the atmosphere and good vibes made up for it. This is the kind of place where you don’t mind lingering a little longer. Would I go back? Absolutely. It’s got that classic Jersey Shore charm and some delicious bites to match.

Must for place for seafood lovers. Right on the water with views of the Bay and boats sailing. Fairly large selection, includes GF and vegan options. We loved the blackened Swordfish and the NJ Lobster roll.

Popular seafood joint in the Highlands. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating and easy parking. Nice decor and beautiful views. Drink menu is decent too. Raw oysters were fresh but not the best I’ve had. The lobster roll was delicious but I think Off The Hook makes a better one. Overall, nice restaurant. Will satisfy your seafood craving.

It was such a great dinner - everything we had was very good quality, delicious seafood. Recommend the steamer, stuffed shrimp, and hot lobster roll. Would love to come back and try other dishes. Service was however not attentive — our server pretty much disappeared, didn’t add water or ask if any refills for our drink the entire meal.

Food is okay - i had king crab legs, expensive dish. There was no other place near to have it so I didn’t have option for an alternative. It was ordinary nothing special. Service was good

I've been eating here for a couple years now, and I am thrilled to have discovered this old-school seafood restaurant. Come for the food, the views, the history, and eclectic Maritime decor. I just had my birthday lunch here last Monday. Our server was really great. See you soon.

Great seafood spot by the marina in Highlands, NJ. It can get quite busy but there's plenty of seating options between the deck outside, and the dining rooms inside. If you eat inside, definitely go upstairs. There's also a full bar near the entrance upstairs, and another on the deck outside by the parking lot. The place features your usual naval / maritime decorations, creating a nice atmosphere. The deck is obviously popular so you will have to wait in sunny days. Be warned, it can get chilly by the water, a solid 10 degrees cooler in the Spring. The food was awesome, especially the hot Lobster roll (generous portion). Service was friendly but hit & miss due to busy demand. Our appetizer came at the same time as our main meal. The deck is dog friendly and they kindly provided water to our dog.

So we came here because so many people come here to eat, we’ve heard a lot about it, so wanted to try it out. First of all, the parking is very difficult, there isn’t enough parking for the guests because it seems like the parking is also shared with anyone wanting to go take a boat into the water. So we tried the food, had calimari, which was okay, nothing special. I tried the stuffed shrimp, which was decent but nothing too special, expected a bigger portion, but it was okay nonetheless. We also had other things like a shrimp scampi. The atmosphere was nice though, outside dining (which you can’t reserve to go outside, you have to have a mandatory wait time to eat outside). Still a nice view outside regardless, it’s a nice restaurant to go.

This was our first time eating here. We came in around 2pm on Presidents Day (Monday, 2/20). We were seated right away with a spectacular view of the water. Our waitress came quickly and we explained we needed to order one of the meals to-go. My friend, was having a hard time, deciding between two dishes so she asked for the waitresses opinion. The waitress responded with no additional information than what was stated on the menu, and gave simply said she couldn’t give a recommendation, because everyone was different. This was unexpected and disappointing as we expected a waitress to be able to describe what was good about each dish and why she would recommend each one. This was one of two reasons I gave this restaurant 4 out of 5 instead of a 5 out of 5. There were four of us total sitting at the table and then we placed a fifth order to go. My daughter ordered a chicken fingers and fries, we ordered to fish and chips and then to crabcakes with fries. One of those sets of fries was the sweet potato fries, which were a huge hit. My order was the fish and chips and then I asked for a bun and mayonnaise on the side. My waitress accommodated my requests without complaint, or question, for which I was very grateful. It turned out to be one of the best fish sandwiches I’ve ever had or the best fish sandwich. I’ve had the second reason I would give the restaurant at four out of five is because in my last few bites of my fish sandwich we’re about five small fish bones, which cost me then to not finish the whole sandwich And the bones were very sharp and I was concerned. I had to end up, spitting out the bites with bone in them. Overall, it was a great experience and we hope to go back next time we are in town. I will give them another chance in ordering their fish and chips.

This is the second time I'm going to enjoy seafood food. Today we went with some friends from Maryland and they really liked the food. As a vegan, I ate cauliflower. It was delicious, I really liked it. I would like to see more vegan options.

Love the cocktails and the nachos (made with poke). Great breeze and vibes at the outdoor bar! Could be a little more attentive to folks standing and waiting at the bar to order buuuut we love it here!

This is one of those iconic Jersey shore restaurants that has been around forever. The food is good and the service is good. It gets really busy during the Summers, but if you live in the area or happen to come down the shore in the off-season, it's a nice option. You won't be disappointed.

s
sam

The food was a 7 out of 10 the oysters were great but the lobster bisque was $10 for a cup and had no chunks of lobster just little bits and pieces. And a ton of cream which just felt off. The crab sandwich was just shredded crab which I wish it was whole chunks. It wasn’t terrible just not what I would expect from a crab roll. Service was great here but it was on pricey side.

We went for a late lunch without reservations. We were seated within 10 minutes. The food was okay. The view was beautiful. The service was great.

We visited this place again, and the menu stated that the lobsters were from Maine. However, the server mentioned they were actually harvested locally. Since we had recently been to Maine and tried lobsters there, we immediately noticed the difference — this lobster was very disappointing, with a strong fishy taste. The restaurant should update the menu to accurately reflect the source of their lobsters or the fact that it changes.

it's hard to not get five stars if you have a waterfront as part of your venue, but somehow Bahr's fumbles it. the parking situation is manageable but i can imagine during peak summer it gets hectic. the outside patio and bar are a good idea but Jakeabob's has the better execution further up the coast. Seats are not comfortable and this in turn dampens your enthusiasm, if you had any. prices are on the wrong side of reasonable and that might be due in part to the proximity of million dollar homes just yards away. still, this was always a fishing village joint and the pretense doesn't fit. we tried the lobster bisque and found little evidence of lobster in it, despite being tasty on its own. the oktoberfest specials will not transport you to München, and the prices are not particularly fair for poor execution. the crab cakes, however, hit the mark and they have a surprisingly good house lager to pair with your meal. inside, the pernicious urine smell from the restroom area follows you to your table, unless you chance the uncomfortable outdoor seating. this was the only true unacceptable aspect of our visit. in all, I'm glad we tried it but I'll skip a return for now.

Worst $200 I’ve ever spent at a restaurant. The French fries tasted better than any of the seafood. My party waited forty minutes for a table, and then the hostess said a girl in my party would need to put a shirt on over her bathing suit top - which is fine, but the timing doesn’t make sense. What if we didn’t have an extra shirt in the car? She should’ve mentioned that before we waited forty minutes. And then we waited another forty minutes for the food, which would have been fine if the food wasn’t so mediocre. Everything tasted like unseasoned breading and fryer oil, and the shrimp were tough. But it’s next to a marina, so at least the view is nice.

First time at this place, the view is incredible. We had a table by the window overlooking the sea. Less than 30 seconds after we sat down, they gave us the menu, and the waitress asked if we were ready. She never introduced herself or told me her name. I knew her name was Lauren because it was on her shirt. I didn't know if there were any daily specials, and we felt the service was too rushed. I had to ask for two minutes to think about our order. It was our anniversary, and we expected a better experience. The food was good.

I have been eating at Bahr’s landing my entire life, and have enjoyed every trip. This last trip was completely disappointing and has ended a lifetime of trips to this restaurant. To start the service was awful, had to ask for bread after sitting at the table for 30 minutes. Our waitress was inattentive and despondent. After an hour of waiting for our food, it came out cold and looked like it was sitting for a while. My father’s entree of pot roast has gravy that had coagulated due to how long it had sat. My “lunch entree” was an egregiously small portion. I was told by the manager “that’s just what they serve for lunch”. The image attached is a $22 portion of “lunch” that I would barely justify as an appetizer. Only half of my table ate our meals because their food was room temperature and not ice cold like ours. Additionally I asked for a dessert to be brought out for my brother’s birthday and the waitress couldn’t be bothered; after saying she would bring out a small lava cake. All around awful experience. I will not be returning ever. $220 for only half of my party to get to eat their food, and horrible service. A birthday celebration dinner ruined. They should rename the restaurant Sub-Bhar’s.

Stopped by for an early dinner. First time there. Probably will never go back. Was expecting a good seafood dinner due to the close proximity to the water. The view was great. That's about it. We were entertained by the table next to us who argued and spewed profanities at each other the entire time we were there The server was innatentive and absent most of the time. Our food sat under the heat lamps forever and came out dried out and/or congealed looking. The quality of the food was mediocre at best. I ordered the 38.00 dollar seafood combination. The broiled cod tasted like ammonia-so it was obviously not fresh or edible. Their response was "the chef said it was fine." They should reconsider their choice of chef if they thought that serving someone obviously rancid fish is ok. Pitiful for a 209.00 dollar meal for three people. Oh, they did take 10.00 off our bill for serving me rancid food. So our bill would have been 219.00....totally disappointing overall experience.
