On our way out of Mendocino, we saw this place but bypassed it. Stopped at a local brewery(that didn’t serve food) and asked what they would suggest for eating and jumbos was the place. So we turned back around and tried it out. Pleasant experience staff was friendly, cute place. Food was yummy. Only drawback flies were pesky in the outdoor seating area, but this should be expected in a country atmosphere. Plenty of indoor seating.
Amazing food, try the soft serve with Greek toppings! Unique and delicious. The burgers are delicious. The fish sandwich and chicken sandwich were great too. I can't wait to go back and try the open faced veggie melt( I was told you can add a burger patty if you want decide between the two).
Everything was delightful - easy to find, huge parking lot, absolutely stellar service, charming decor, cute and functional bathroom, and terrific food. I enjoyed a half-order chopped salad, minus the meat. Pickle beer was too interesting to resist, glad I tried it. Looking forward to returning!
Surprised how good this place was! Always drove by on my way to and from Mendocino, but never actually stopped by. Honestly, I thought it was a mini casino at first, but a few locals recommended it as a good pit stop for food. I was really craving burgers and this place didn't disappoint. The food is your typical burger joint meals with a seemingly professionally curated menu. There were some seasonal and locally sourced ingredients used in some specialty dishes. They even had a home made mayonnaise that was great. The burgers were simple, but also delicious. Cooked to perfection. The style was similar to a smash burger. Overall, highly recommend stopping by and grabbing a bite to eat here when passing through. I'll definitely be stopping by whenever I'm in the area again.
We stopped by on a whim and was surprised by how good everything was! I was super into the mustard seeds on the pickle dog, it was like hotdog caviar. The interior is nice too, I liked the real wood tables and all the little choices that make it feel old even though it's new.
Absolutely delicious food - we had two burgers and apple pies and it was as good as it could possibly be. The burgers were juicy, delicious, needed no improvements. Apple pies were mouthwatering. And wonderful owner/hostess. Thank you for this amazing meal, we will be back!
Absolutely loved having lunch here! I got the fish tacos and they were delicious and a little spicy. The soft serve was amazing too. My friends had the burger, fish sandwich, chicken sandwich and steak tacos - all winners. They have a large outside area and allow dogs inside and out.
Worth the Stop 🍽️ Tasty food at great prices, with plenty of outdoor seating. If you’re passing through, don’t miss it. This place has now become a go to stop on the way to some of my favorite camping spots. Grateful to have this new restaurant on the route.
We stopped here on our way to the coast and it was awesome! The smash burgers were delicious. My son liked the fries, hotdog and the best soft serve in the county. I was happy to have their michelada and that is not to be missed. Next time we are in the area we will be stopping by for lunch
What happens when a SF bar legend opens a modern Americana diner in the heart of Anderson Valley? Pure magic, that's what. Jumbo's Win Win, helmed by Scott Baird (co-owner of SF's acclaimed Trick Dog), has become my family's mandatory pit stop between wine country and the Mendocino coast. So mandatory that we ate here THREE times in one weekend during our mushroom foraging adventure! The setup is refreshingly simple - order at the counter, then prepare for some of the best casual eats you'll find in Northern California. The menu is focused and intentional, spotlighting local purveyors and organic ingredients whenever possible. Let me break down the must-orders: The burgers? Perfection. The fries? INSANE (seriously, don't you dare skip them). But the sleeper hit is their mind-bending soft serve topped with honey, olive oil, sea salt, and fennel pollen - a combination that sounds wild but works brilliantly. We've basically eaten our way through the entire menu at this point - stellar chicken sandwich, fantastic fish sandwich, and surprisingly crave-worthy salads. The rotating specials keep things interesting, and the drink selection is on point (would you expect anything less from a Trick Dog alum?). What really seals the deal is the vibe - it's that perfect blend of local hangout and traveler's oasis. You'll see regulars catching up at the counter while road-trippers like us plan their routes specifically around hitting Jumbo's for lunch. Pro tip: If you're heading up to Mendocino or exploring Anderson Valley, this is your spot. The quality and execution put most big-city spots to shame. Just don't blame me when you find yourself making excuses to drive through Philo just to grab another burger. One last time for those in the back: DON'T. SKIP. THE. FRIES.
Jumbo’s in Philo is a full-blown roadside miracle disguised as humble burger shack. It doesn’t scream for attention, but it absolutely deserves it. This place serves up the kind of burger that makes you roll your eyes in pleasure and question why you ever settled for fast food mediocrity. The patties are juicy, seasoned just right, and stacked like they mean business with fresh condiments, melty cheese, and buns that don’t fall apart mid-bite (because we’re adults here, barely). The fries are golden perfection, best I’ve had in a very long time. They also have gargantuan hot dogs, chicken sandwiches and more. Jumbo’s is the real deal: no pretentious menu, no overthought branding just unapologetically good food served up with small-town realness. Sit your happy butt down at a picnic table, breathe in that Philo country air, and devour something that actually satisfies. It’s the kind of spot you brag about discovering but secretly hope never gets too popular. Because Jumbo’s isn’t just a burger stop it’s a glorious rite of passage. You came for the food, but you’ll come back for the feeling. And maybe a second burger.
Great place! Despite opening in 2024, it has a very classic diner feel. There's quite a bit of seating when the back patio is open, and despite the line when we got there, we got our order in a solid amount of time. The food is great (shout out to the burgers), and there is also food for vegetarians , pescatarians , etc. They also have cute shirts available for sale
We stumbled upon Jumbo’s Win Win with 0 expectations and left completely BLOWN AWAY! My husband declared their burger one of his top 5 ever - juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The fried chicken sandwich? Equally phenomenal. We’ll be thinking about it forever and ever. Their fries were crispy and fun shaped, almost like the size of waffle fries. Also tried the Chopped Salad, which was solid as well. The drink selection is pretty big for a diner, including a tempting pickle beer. It looked like the perfect pairing with their burgers. The interior has a mix of nostalgic diner charm and modern chic. We got our food pretty quickly as well. We were honestly so impressed with the food that we’re planning our return trip from Mendocino just to eat there again. If only it were closer to San Francisco! What an absolute gem!!!
Awesome place in the way to Mendocino! They even offer a gluten free bun which was unexpected and great.
I rolled in with my girlfriend and a friend for a late lunch around 3 p.m. on a Wednesday in August after Sean at Brashley Vineyards pointed us this way. The patio vibe was relaxed and friendly. We kept it simple: Jumbo’s burgers with fries and cold beers. The burger is exactly what it should be—organic 3M Cattle Co. beef, American cheese, iceberg, tomato, sweet onion, dill pickles, special sauce, all on a toasted Martin’s potato bun. Juicy, balanced, and gone too quickly. The curly fries were hot and outrageously crisp; as in my photos, they arrive piled high on a tray that makes sharing easy. Being right on CA-128 in Philo puts this spot in the heart of Anderson Valley wine country, the stretch that connects Cloverdale to the foggy Mendocino coast—a handy pit stop between tastings. Service was upbeat and fast, and the outdoor seating made it feel like a backyard cookout without the cleanup. I’d absolutely swing back in after a day of wineries or a lazy drive through the redwoods. Easygoing, satisfying, and worth the stop.
Awesome modern take on Americana food. Great atmosphere, very kind staff. Feels like a little hidden gem. The chop salad was super tasty and fresh ( roasted sun flower seeds, ham , I think halloumi cheese, golden raisins). The smash burger was awesome too. Definitely come here and try the sidewinder fries. Best place to eat between Cloverdale and Mendocino on hwy 128. Just straight GOOD.

Jumbo's Win-Win is a buzzing local spot with refreshments that hit way harder than other joints in this weight class. Try the fish tacos with local rock cod. Some items like shrimp tostadas or hand-cut fries run out, so arrive early to dodge the lunch rush. The 'Win-Win' is simple - you win by eating here, and the community of Philo wins by having somewhere of this caliber to hang out at. Undefeated!
This is a must stop if you ever find yourself on Hwy 128 in a little inter-coastal town, Philo about an hour or so west of I101/Cloverdale, California. They serve amazing burgers (smash and regular), great signature fries and the best soft serve ice cream!! My experience has been mixed and the portions of ice cream. From towering cone to just average size, but crazy creaminess! I highly recommend if you are out and about maybe wine tasting in the Navarro Valley or on the way to Mendocino. Prices are reasonable and as said before, great flavors!! Enjoy!!
We stopped here for dinner on our drive back down from Mendocino and were wowed by both the food and the charm of this place - we thought it definitely lived up to the hype! Burgers and fried chicken sandwich were great, fries were awesome with great texture, and the service was really friendly and welcoming. My partner got the strawberry frosé they had spinning in a slushy machine, which was delicious and very fresh-tasting. We even saw the owner come out to say hi to some local families and their kids - this place has such a friendly, local community vibe which made for such a cozy road-trip stop. Make sure to check out the adorable tiles (each one with a little painting of an animal/motif related to the region) and paintings of food in the restrooms, all the decor is awesome and clearly a labor of love! We'll definitely be back next time we come up north, and in the meantime I'm already recommending it to friends. Next time I want to try their hot dog and that pickle beer!
Great little spot to stop for lunch if driving up the coast. Smash burger is super good. The fries and aioli was also great. Vibe is old school dinner type. Back area is perfect for dogs and kids to run around.
The smash burger was tasty. We ordered a side a fries which were a bit on the smaller size for a portion. I wish we would have tried the frozen yogurt though because it looked delicious.
Me and a friend are on a trip and saw a sign for this cute place, we decided to stop and get some grub. She got the fries and I got the burger. She paid $8 for these fries. That’s about $1 per fry right there. Not gonna lie they were good but the portion was not matching the price. I got a burger, it was $10 and was worth every penny, the meat was cooked perfectly and the sauce! Don’t even get me started on the sauce!!! I was practically licking it off the plate!!! So damn good. Another thing I must say is the soap in the bathrooms smell so damn nice! I would definitely stop here, but don’t get an order of the fries fr!!!
I don’t know about all the Michelin star and restaurant of the year talk but it’s very very good. I don’t think there’s anything on this menu that I’ve tried that I couldn’t re-create fairly easily in my own kitchen, but being as though this is essentially the middle of nowhere that’s not going to happen so to have this place here is pretty cool. I’ve tried the smashburger and the chicken sandwich and both styles of fries and it’s all very good. The pickle beer is not my thing, but I get why people like it.
I normally do not leave reviews, but my experience here left a very bad taste in my mouth. Ordered a strawberry lemonade for $5. Drink was poured behind the counter. Cup it came in was filled with 2/3 of ice. I asked if they offer refills and they said no. I pointed out all the ice and asked if I could at least get some more soda. Answer was no. Then they said iced tea was the only thing they could do a refill, so I said ok I’ll take do tea. Then was told they would have to ring me up for the tea. Very petty run business. My husband had a 16 ounce beer in a glass with no ice, of course for $7 which is only $2 more than my 2 ounces of lemonade. If I had received 16 ounces of lemonade, my drink would have cost $40. DO NOT COME HERE. Photo is of just the ice with no lemonade left.
