HOBOKEN: City Bistro Restaurant Lounge Bar is the perfect uptown spot to dine, sip, people-watch, and best of all, leashed and friendly pups are welcome at their outdoor seating! The patio has plenty of charm, with a canopy and string lights overhead, flower boxes adding pops of color, and tables to settle in with elevated American fare and carefully crafted cocktails. We loved that we could still soak up the indoor vibe while sitting near the open doors, plus we even had a view of the game on TV. The staff was incredibly attentive, making sure we felt right at home from start to finish.
Service was cool, the food was delicious, the music wasn't really for us but not a deal breaker. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich and the brisket sandwich. We ate on the rooftop which was a bit smaller than I thought but it was still very nice. My husband got beef tacos for an appetizer and they were so good! I say that because I normally don't care for steak tacos but they thin sliced the steak which was golden!
Went here on a whim one night. We sat at the bar. Good cocktails and food. It was a bit odd I thought that there were like 3 different menus. But the food was yummy.
Amazing food and great service. Been here few times and each time we like this place. They have great drinks and their cucumber margarita is the best! Their crispy French toast and pancakes are amazing! It has a good chilled vibes, servers are friendly. Good place for gatherings and Sunday brunch.
Seriously awesome brunch/lounge/Dinner spot.. I love the food and cocktails 🍹 Menu.. it’s a perfect spot in summers and also winters.. they have beautiful and classy holiday decor.. I would highly recommend the dirty chai (10/10) and mushroom flatbread !! Loved the veggie burgers too..
I absolutely love this place. This is a great place for a first date, girls night out, or just somewhere to go after work for some drinks. I have eaten here multiple times and every time the food has been amazing. The salmon dish is to die for. My fiancé had the pasta which was also delicious. We would definitely return again and Again.
This was a great place to have a bite & calm drink in the sun! The food was wonderful & I highly suggest the Crostini’s ( ricotta one was amazing ) we also ordered the tiki wings, old world pizza & Cesar salad. All were delicious! A beer and vodka club to wash it down && call it a day. The atmosphere is fun & hip. Ample amount of places to sit indoor and outdoor. Go early for your spot at the bar on the roof. Only about a 15 minute wait for a table on the roof. They played some good music on the roof as well. Attentive bartenders & servers as well. Definitely a fun place to pop into too!!!!
The food was good and fresh. The steak was amazing. The choice of food is not very large, but everything is delicious. There are not many people, you can sit comfortably.
Today was my first time at that place and omg love it. Great customer service , Carla was our server. She’s was really nice , friendly, informative . Drinks was good especially the mimosas , food was delicious & fresh and affordable. Also they have a rooftop . I will most likely be back there again soon !!!
Food was great we took our food to a nice little spot we found. The service was great the food was great. We will definitely be back the next time we come to visit and we will dine in. 😁
Excellent experience! Server was friendly and attentive. I started with a cool Frose'. The Bistro Burger was cooked perfectly. And the sweet potatoes fries were served nice and hot. Delicious! I would definitely go back. Plenty on the menu to try.
It's the best hamburger ever! 🍔 I think that is the first time that I ordered the meat rare, and they prepare really undercooked 😋 Love it! ❤️ Of course I will repeat!
Food was good! i went on my birthday and it was fun🤗! will come here again! the tiramisu was my favorite thing 🍽️
We shared a plate serving sizes were plentiful. Food was done to perfection. Customer service was good.
My bf brought me here for my birthday because we had a good experience here last Spring. I don’t remember what I ate or drank that time. This time, the Crunchy French Toast I ordered will be a core memory. The french toast is encrusted with corn flakes and then fried to achieve a texture that I’ve never experienced on french toast. It was so goOooOd. The flavors and texture reminds me of a combination of Auntie Anne’s’s cinnamon pretzel and almond pretzel- BUT BETTER. I was delighted. The calamari was good too. Service was quick and attentive.
We came here on a substrate night and Andrés was our server. He was awesome! He was consistently refilling our drinks and man was on TOP of it. Draft beers were good and the food was delicious AND a good bang for the buck. When I’m in town again I hope to have Andrés as our server!
I order "The Huevos Ranchero" from the brunch menu and it was absolutely delicious. We had a great server and made the experience all that enjoyable. I recommend the second floor. It has more of speak easy vive. Overall great experience!!
Open on new years day with limited indoor dining. The eggs benedict was good. The espresso drinks were good. The service was great as well. City Bistro is our goto place for a new years brunch.
Celebrated my birthday here and my friends and I really enjoyed our time there. It was our first time at this location and the food was great, the servers were nice and accommodating, and the setting was overall a great place to have dinner. Will most likely come back again, thank you!!!
Really great spot to go for a relaxed drink in the day, and a good time at night for dancing and hanging out(that was pre covid) now it’s just as great, just a little more laid back. But I encourage you to come have drink. Rooftop is perfect for the summer (and when we’re forced to be outside)
Excelente food and service. I had a wonderful night here they have a good wine selection and the menu had something for everyone
The food and service were great! A very cute place for a nice date ❤️
Came to City Bistro for brunch & it was delicious!! Such a cute spot + The mimosas were on point & the avocado toast and pancakes were so good! I would definitely recommend coming here for brunch with a group of friends.
My bridal shower was hosted here. They had great food And friendly service. We had a private room and bar with access to the outside bar.
We would like to sit inside, but there was some kind of banquet going on and we were seated on the street, in principle everything was fine, the food was delicious!
One of the best places in Hoboken for dinner. Greek Salad was very good. I was also Shazaming songs all night, nice beats playing throughout dinner. Very clean and inviting with a pleasant ambiance.
I held my engagement party at City Bistro and was amazed with the food, drinks and service! The pricing was also very reasonable compared to some other quotes and I highly recommend for any large group events.
Cooking a roasted chicken properly can be quite tricky, as it often turns out dry and flavorless. But trust me, you have to try the roasted chicken here—it’s incredible! It comes with perfectly cooked potatoes, and I also recommend adding a salad. The salad is simple (just lettuce with a delicious dressing), but it’s a bit on the pricey side at $8. Still, when you pair it all together, the meal is absolutely worth it!
I'm an event planner who just helped with my husband's holiday party at City Bistro and I am so happy with the outcome! Ashleigh was super easy to communicate with during pre-planning. Fast replies to emails, easy to understand next steps etc. And when I arrived onsite this past Friday I was so happy to see our private room. We were 14 in a cozy space on the 2nd fl. It had one long table and a large built in bar. The holiday decorations made everything festive. Perfect setting. And I can't say enough about, Sebastian, our bartender / server that night. He was so personable, accommodating and efficient. He really made our night. Finally the food was perfect. Plentiful, delicious, well presented etc. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Checked this place out for dinner. It got extremely loud, the later it got. It seems this place is really popular for drinks. Lot of trendy people grabbing a drink and hanging out. Food was delicious and I'm glad my cousin picked this place out to try. They seemed a little short staffed though
I went to the City Bistro for a Mothers Day brunch and I was gonna be late due to traffic. They were very accommodating and the service here was top notch. I got the huevos rancheros which weren’t great. But the wings were excellent and so were the drinks. They have a roof top but it was closed for brunch. The prices are reasonable and overall I had a good experience.
I think I found my new spot for chicken sammies. My BF and I came in for brunch one Saturday at around 1:30. The place was pretty dead (not that I'm complaining), but it was also Labor Day weekend. We had been in once for happy hour drinks, so we figured we'd come back and try some of the good, and I'm happy we did. We ordered Lemon Ricotta Pancakes (berry compote, whipped cream, maple syrup) only it didn't come with berry compote. I guess they ran out because it looked like they just threw some strawberries and pineapples on there. Even so, the actual pancakes were great. They were warm and fluffy, with just the right amount of lemon flavor. For my entree, I went with the grilled chicken sandwich (provolone, pancetta, roasted peppers, arugula, garlic aioli, ciabatta, french fries). I'm usually iffy about ciabatta bread because I haven't had very good ones in the past. But this one was so good - it was perfectly toasted on the outside but soft on the inside. The chicken was also perfectly cooked and the flavors from the other ingredients blended well together. I especially liked the garlic aioli. The fries were a bit too crispy for my preference, but they're fries - even a bad fry is a good fry. He went with the burger and they cooked it medium rare, like he ordered. The pancakes were pretty filling so we were only able to eat half of our respective entrees. I had my chicken sammie the next day, and it was still pretty bangin'. Will def be back! Plus, it looks like they have a pretty good rotating draft beer selection.
First off, City Bistro is (in normal times) a great drinking spot. The rooftop is always a great time especially in warm weather (although I must admit the TV management could be improved by making sure the best games are playing, but that’s a personal issue that I can get over). Id argue it’s the best happy hour spot in the city. I’ve been here to eat twice now, first time for dinner on a whim and most recently brunch. I’ve been pleasantly surprised both times. Brunch with a friend this weekend was excellent. He ordered the French toast which was soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside thanks to the cornflakes. I opted for the burger and it was excellent. I like a classic burger and that’s exactly what this was. Brioche bun, shredded lettuce, red onion, juicy tomato, melted cheese, and a pickle spear as the proverbial cherry on top. Sweet potato fries were above average too. We also put down a few mimosas a piece because, well, brunch. I can confidently say that City Bistro has one of the better burgers in Hoboken.
best steak i’ve ever had!!!! i don’t even like mashed potatoes, but here i ate all of it. food was great, but the drinks were kind of watery. the staff was really nice though. very close to the hoboken pier, loved it. nice place for a date or small family gathering.
Had my daughters 21st bday family get together here. Nice big room, food was good. The workers were friendly and helpful. Our bartender was great.
Service wasnt really good, we had mussels and wings for appt. The brisket burger was nice and juicy, skirt steak wasnt that good, very thin and small ,it got lost in all the potatoes that come with it.I think its over priced for what you get. The greatest course of the night was for sure the smores we had for dessert. They bring a small torch with couple marshmellows ,some skewers ,Hershey choc bar and ofcourse graham crackers.
Came here a couple times, once for a brunch and more recently an event in a rented room. We had one bartender for 20 of us which worked out well. The drinks were poured heavy which was much appreciated. However, the appetizers were a bit lack luster. They were necessary but nothing I would go out of my way to order. We had full control of the music and the bathroom was close by. Overall it was a good time.
Beautiful atmosphere with a classy/romantic vibe. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the “Breakfast pizza” its description on the menu did not match what I was served- which tasted fine, but was not light and breakfast-y like I expected. This is something the pizza place next door could make with the egg thrown on top of it.
Ambience was good. Apetizers were fine. The actual entrees left me unimpressed. I would have to say that the portion size as good. The chicken entree was huge chunks of fried chicken buried under salad. Shrimp languini was slightly better but not very flavorful.
waited an hour for the food and it came out cold, pizza wasn’t crunchy, burger bun was kinda burnt. rooftop is pretty though and they make the food look pretty
Our waitress provided great service. However, the food and drinks left MUCH to be desired. The drinks I ordered and friends needed to be returned and “doctored” more than once. Pasta had zero to no flavor and stated it had white wine sauce. I ended up just ordering a grilled cheese like a child. Aside from the option to dine al fresco this isn’t a place I’d return to.
I went out with friends for valentine’s day and at the end of the night we all payed in seperate checks. I paid with an $100 on a $31 bill. I. was suppose to get $69 in change and my waitress who barely checked up on us gave me only $65 back. When I told her I’m missing $4 she said they didn’t have any singles and I told her I was planning to tip with the change. Then she said to wait and she went off and found 4 singles. So they did have singles and she most likely thought since I was a teenager I wouldn’t notice. I also thought it was extremely rude she didn’t even mention to me she was missing the $4, so I don’t know what she was actually doing with the missing money. But other than that the restaurant was beautiful and the food was delicious.
I really wanted to like this place — the menu looked promising, with a good variety of burgers and pizza. But unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The food took a while, and when it finally arrived, I found a hair in my meal. Accidents happen, but it definitely ruined my appetite. The staff was polite when I brought it up, but there wasn’t much effort to make it right beyond a quick apology. Atmosphere is nice and the menu has potential, but hygiene and attention to detail need serious improvement. Probably won’t be returning anytime soon.
Probably the worst restaurant I've been to in Hoboken. No joke... my beer and my burger were both served lukewarm. The patio is definitely cool, however.
My friends liked their food, but I got the ricotta gnocchi and it was probably the most disappointing meal I've gotten in hoboken. Service was good, and the venue was nice.
The place look nice but the foods and drinks has no flavor. I have never eaten a steak that tasted so bland. The food was cold and it just looks good but the taste was bad. It didn’t taste good even with the A1 sauce. We got taco fish and the fish didn’t have flavor either. The drinks have alcohol but it didn’t taste good. First and last time here.
Don’t buy the seltzer water. Upcharging you like crazy! $8 for a bottle of Pellegrino. I only gave a tip because our waitress tried to answer our questions. I would also rely on finding better employees with better customer service. I would recommend to go to any other place in the area.
Small advice from someone in the industry… you can’t loose sense of hospitality it doesn't matter how long have you been in the area or how busy you are frequently. That doesn’t give you the right to give a poor energy to the guest, a nice smile or making them feel welcome to your place. That makes the difference between being a place to get drunk and party and a place to create a neighborhood, enjoy good time, good food, drinks, service and atmosphere. Long time listening about City Bistro and very disappointed in my first and last visit. I love Hoboken, and Hoboken deserves more…
automatically included 20% gratuity = worst service ever. never refilled water or checked on us. my friends food took over an hour to come out by the time the rest of us finished eating because it kept getting forgotten. food was not good, overly salty. they charged $30 to cut a little cake.
Our server blew her nose in front of us and tried to serve us our food without washing her hands. Absolutely disgusting. I will never come back here. We asked to speak to a manager and the front hosts advised us that no managers were available.
