OMG, The Purple Onion is soooo awesome! We were looking for a place that was open late so we wouldn’t be walking in right before they close, used Google and found this place, open late with all the great reviews too. I had the beef kabobs and my hubby had a steak baked potato with a side of grilled mushrooms....y’all, it was delicious!! They were very quick and it was made fresh! Don’t underestimate it from how it looks on the outside; it will definitely surprise you!

I've been going to this location for 20+ years now, dating back to my college days. The service can get a little slow at peak times, but otherwise we always have a great experience with both the service and the food. I highly recommend the Chick in a Sack along with some cheese fries. And I always, always, ALWAYS look forward to treating myself to their sweet tea: it is delicious (not your typical sweet tea, so be expecting something a little different). Outdoor seating is available and it is covered along with fans during the hotter times and warmers during the cooler times.

I have been going here for years. It's my go to for a gyro wrap,fries and some hummus. The food is always prepared quickly and is hot. Its not fancy but its always good .

Had a burger which was recommended by a friend. It was good but nothing that stood out. The fries were cooked excellently. I know this is a popular place and I would have liked to try the kebab or gyros. Which may have been better than the burger. Still good quick food. Nothing to complain about

We have been long time customers of the Purple Onion. It seems no matter which one you visit (they have seven locations around the "Ham") they always have good quality for a very reasonable price. If you are looking for good food, quick service and a good price this is your place. I wouldn't come for the atmosphere. They have kept up with customers tastes by adding "extras" like burritos and other choices. Gyro sandwiches and salads are always great and plentiful amounts. I will definitely be going back! These guys can make an excellent veggie omlette. My 1 complaint was that they were out of coffee at 6:30am! As consolation, though, their iced mint tea is muy delicioso! The place was being cleaned as I ate and all the staff were very nice.

We went out of the box and visited the Purple Onion while in Bham. There are A LOT of menu options - not always a good thing though! The food was decent but not something that will bring us back the next time we are down. We ordered a cheeseburger for the little, a Philly Steak wrap up, and a steak potato. The fries were absolutely delicious! Great seasoning and the perfect crunch! Everything else was average. Everything was also on the pricey side! My husband did like the mint tea. Very little parking. Very small inside with little room to move around and get your drinks, a few tables inside but definitely a spot you will be eating outside at. In which as we were sitting outside, someone walked up trying to sell us a medal of some sort. Also not a place to come if you have *food allergies*, not very accommodating in trying to figure out ingredients!

I had heard that this place was one of the popular Mediterranean spots, so my expectations were fairly high. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. I ordered a vegetarian pita, which turned out to be quite bland. There was very little hummus and tahini sauce, and the falafel was extremely dry and lacked flavor. The French fries were also very basic and tasteless, and no dipping sauce was provided, which I feel is essential with this kind of food. The chicken pita was just okay—nothing special, but not terrible either. Additionally, the staff did not seem to understand instructions clearly. Overall, this was a poor experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Disappointed. I used to love this place when I lived in Bham, especially the Chick in the Sack. Today it was oversalted and didn't love the flavor either. Husband got chicken swhwarma wrap, which also was way too salty and had a weird flavor.

This was my first time eating here. The crispy chick wrap was delicious 😋 but the chili cheeses nachos and chili cheese fries were absolutely DISGUSTING 🤢!!! The chili cheeses nachos were soggy and chips were stale. The chili cheese fries had more chili than cheese sauce. I wasted money on 2 items I couldn’t eat. Lesson learned!!

This place gave my dad stomach poisoning. I do not recommend eating here. Plus the owner’s son treats their employees bad. I witnessed multiple instances where they’ve been treated unfairly. I’ve been coming here for years but unfortunately service has decreased drastically. Completely disappointed.

I got the gyro plate and it was not good. The salad was soggy, the hummus was spoiled tasting and the rice was oily. The food also made me very sick. I had severe vomiting episode. No good stay away from this place.

I came in there and ordered a potato with extra sour cream,i never LEFT the restaurant. When they called for my order i gave the lady my ticket. when i came to her and said the sour cream was not in the bag she tried to make me pay for it after i already paid and gave HER the ticket . The guy when i told him, he tried to make me pay as well. I told him you know i paid for extra sour cream he said “no i don’t where is your ticket” i said i gave it to her yall never seen me leave the restaurant you know i gave yall the ticket. when i asked to speak to a manager he ignored me. I asked him for his name he started naming fake names . This was CLEAR racial discrismination and i will never order here again .i could understand if i left the restaurant but if they played the cameras back they could see me remaining in my seat ! waiting on my friend to get her food as well. All of this over a cup of sour cream ? This was the worst customer service i ever experienced .
