Tip: Live blues music on Thursdays is amazing. Check for drink and food specials. Biggest patio on the west side.

Great food, great service and always great drinks!! Huge patio and live bands almost every other week!!
Pretty decent hole in the wall, a dive bar for sure but they offer great drink selection and decent food. Drink selection is the best as these folks know how to make drinks. Beer selection is really good although no draft offered. Prices are pretty good too. Clean location, casual/relaxed atmosphere.
Arguably the best cobb salad in town, with deliciously seasoned chicken and perfectly ripened avocados. Heather and Mindy are attentive and pour good drinks. And there's a little eye candy for you in the restrooms. ;-) Lots of big screens so you can watch the game. Patron and staff alike are friendly and welcoming. You'll become a regular before you know it.

Helluva spot, the tall handsome black man that takes care of us is always attentive and full of energy. What a spot, golly we hate to leave.
The band was awesome ! I didn't want to leave. I fell in love with the trombone and sax players. They were really great. Hope to be back soon. The staff is so personable and efficient too. Love you all!
This is a great place to chill after work or on the weekend. We've been for lunch and enjoyed it, as well. They've got options for indoor and outdoor seating. The burgers are great! It's an older crowd, but everyone is friendly and chill.
Went on their 30th anniversary, did not have any food, from the spaghetti I saw they were serving it appeared to be ok. The waitress as good, atmosphere was so so as no a/c just fans and it was a bit uncomfortable

Wasn’t sure what to expect food wise. I knew this place was just a bar but it’s a fun place and the food was super decent. Nice service.
Very friendly atmosphere. Chips with salsa and queso are yummy. Definitely recommend and the live band is great. Women's bathroom is the best part of this place 😏
Great atmosphere, Good food, and decent price, will be back.
On saturday, I met up with a friend here to grab a couple drinks. The atmosphere was fantastic. The live music was great. The food was okay.I liked it enough to eat it and not complain. But I almost wanted another burger. However, there was a mix up with payment. I got charged twice. When the second charger should have gone to my buddy's card. Because it's the weekend that's not gonna show up in our bank accounts until at least monday or tuesday at the latest. So when I saw that I was double charged today, I attempted to show up and have them rectify the mistake. I don't know who the older lady is at the bar during the daytime, but she's absolutely terrible with customer service. The rest of the staff were cool, tho . Apparently, they don't have a manager available until Friday. Understandable given the holiday. Anyways, I'm sure it'll get resolved.
It's an icehouse, meaning it's a bit of a dive. But it's in a good location, plenty of free parking, safe and friendly staff and patrons. Good enough food with friendly service and reasonable prixes. Older crowd, not fancy, just a bar with lots of TVs and a regular loyal repeat crowd. Been there for decades. Large area off to the side of the main bar good for groups. Great to watch major sporting events like play offs and superbowl. Often a free food bar for the big events.
60 yrs old...been in a few neighborhood bars over 39 yrs in Texas. John's has a great atmosphere as a sports bar w/jukebox music & live music. Been there 4 times in last 2 months on a weekend night each time. Only 1/4 times(not a good experience), male customer sitting at bar was very loud & obnoxious to his female companion. The staff & service everytime have been fantastic and customer friendly. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting "H" town & staying on Westside.
Staff was very friendly as were customers. Drink prices are higher here than at other Energy Corridor bars. Daily food special prices are lower here than at other Energy Corridor bars. I have never seen free food offered here, but the quality of the purchased food is excellent; considering price and generous portion size, it is a GREAT value! They have a very large outdoor area. They do not offer anyvdraft beer, but their packaged beer and wine list is extensive.

I really enjoy coming here but it’s sad to see the new owners have increased the prices so much. Almost $5 for bottle domestic beer is robbery for the location it’s at. New owner is also a little creepy.

So a petite 28-year-old woman comes to the bar with her ID, which you decide is fake. She then goes home, gets her passport as well as a friend, also well above the age limit, presents you with an ID, passport and someone saying "hey, you guys are wrong!", and you still decide it's all fake? That is just petty. Whoever was at the door, seriously needs to learn how to treat people, because that looks really bad. I work with branding, marketing etc. and this sort of thing can really do harm to your name, so you should be careful and start respecing your customers.
They went ahead and added an extra 75% tip on top of what was given, only found out about it bc of my CC company
Great place if you enjoy plentiful fruit flies, dirty bar, filthy restroom, most likely disgusting kitchen and annoying regulars who talk/yell more than they breathe. Overpriced drinks by a lot compared to other local pubs. Bartender that pays attention to 1 to 2 people max the entire time and places her foot up on every shelf, cooler, etc available for her to "perch". Coolers are not in any acceptable shape. Ice box looks like it hasn't been cleaned in ages. Floor is absolutely disgusting. Bartop is sticky. Did I mention the fruit flies? .. absolutely terrible and disgusting place.

Bartenders need to learn how to read ID’s. Place was dead and empty
