Brass Tacks is a popular cafe known for its delicious coffee, unique food offerings like the Bahn Mi and Jack Daniel's bread pudding, and welcoming atmosphere. It's a great spot for working/studying, though it can get crowded and noisy, and the wifi can be unreliable.

I can't recall how I first learned about Brass Tacks but it's easily got the best coffee spot vibe that I've experienced. Love the ambiance (the plants!), the interesting space, and friendly staff. If I lived closer I'd be working out of here at least once a week. They have food and drinks to keep you fueled up. My only suggestion is for the venue to consider adding electric vehicle (EV) charging stations to the parking lot. I drove in from SW Houston and the time I spent at Brass Tacks would have been enough to plug in and get 25 miles of range to go back home. I recommend reaching out to local Houston business, Pangea Charging, if you decide to explore this. I actually saw 4 others EVs (10% of all 40 parking spaces) come and go during my visit. I'd say the demand is there!
Came here for drinks with my girls! The outdoor seating area is super cute and our drinks were beautiful and yummy. Also cocktails very reasonably priced! The parking lot is really small so keep that in mind, we ended up circling around the block and someone luckily left as we were coming back around.
One of my go to coffee shops. I go for the mocha latte(hot) every time now but their other lattes and the cold brew...also good. They have good but simple breakfast option. The atmosphere is great they have different seating options, some secluded, some not. Plenty of seating outside as well. Plants all around, comfy chairs, self serve water. The people are very friendly like have a convo with friendly. The only negative I could say is parking it's a popular place for good reason and the spaces fill up quickly so usually I have to find a spot on the street.
Upon 1st glance you would think wow this place is busy but it's a good busy. The type of busy thats good for business but not to busy that it would interpret whatever you doing. There were several people on dates and studying. I only have a coffee and a cookie but it was still very good. They have outdoor seating and seems like a good place to study, date night or just a causal hangout spot. Will definitely be back.
This cafe is very spacious and nice! I went to study with friends in the early morning and the atmosphere was amazing. It’s loud, but with headphones, it’s perfectly easy to study comfortably. I ordered the Tomato basil soup and grilled cheese for brunch- Soup: 10/10 ; Grilled Cheese: 7/10 Overall had a great experience here!
Lovely place with plenty of seating areas. To my luck the place was super crowded when I came, around 11:30am. Had to wait to find a spot where I could work at. The vanilla latte + breakfast burrito was fine. Also had trouble connecting to the internet, for like 40 min they didn’t have service
Came.here for a meeting with our caterer. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside. We had an iced latte and a cappuccino. The service was lovely and coffees were delicious. I loved the little heart on my cappuccino. I definitely would like to come back an try some food offerings.
Stayed at a place nearby and ended up coming here for breakfast all three days! All the staff is incredibly friendly, the food was delicious and there was a wide variety of food to eat — enough to please even the pickiest of people. I got three different things each day and there was still stuff that really caught my eye. I’d highly recommend it for people that are in the Houston area! : ) The area also looks incredibly cute and charming. Felt very lucky to have such a nice place so close by.
High energy and fully packed coffee lounge. They have a bar with cocktails and a menu of food to choose from. Inside there are many different seating options, from small cubbies to shared tables. The apple butter chai was to die for and the breakfast platter just hit the spot. I can’t wait to come back to try more! The parking is very limited and has pot holes so be aware.
Happened to find this awesome coffee shop while driving in the area. Service was great and overall vibes was good. Parking lot was a little small but there is street parking available. Outdoor area was not crowded at all, inside can get a little noisy if there’s a huge crowd. Overall great experience.
The vibes of this place is very earthy, welcoming, minimalistic. I ordered a chicken gyro, good gracious. It was so good. I sat outside because it was the perfect weather but I love the layout of this place. They utilized the space well to make sure everyone was accommodated. I love that. And the outside seating was very nice and colorful. I love how they called people’s names for their order. It was so soothing and fun.
Stopped in here like 25 minutes before closing and they were so awesome!! Friendly staff and beautiful space. We ordered a Cuban sandwich, a Thai tea latte, and a Nutella crepe that was all incredibly yummy. Then we ordered a cookie on the way out and it was FREAKING fantastic. And warmed to perfection! Will come again for sho!
Super cute cafe with vibesssss. I’ve worked her and gone for leisure. My take on working there is that 1- a lot of the chairs aren’t that comfy for long term sitting. 2- if you have a phone heavy job, it may not be the best place for you to work from bc it can get busy and noisy. I still would go on my lighter days without the intention of staying all day. In addition to the various seating options indoors, they also have some outdoor seating with light shade. As far as parking, there’s a Petrie lot that often is full. 2 out of the 3 times I’ve gone, I’ve simply stalked someone who was leaving out as some people do pick up orders. There’s also street parking if you’re skilled at that parallel nonsense. As far as food and drink, everything I’ve ordered has been yummy. For food, I’ve tried the patty melt and the breakfast tacos. I love that they have beef chorizo since I don’t eat pork.
So glad I stopped here last time I was in Houston. I got a vanilla, lavender latte and it was delicious. The atmosphere was great and the staff was very friendly and we even had a few conversations with some of the employees. There are plenty of seating options for people who just want to sit and chat, inside or outside, as well as a ton of seating for more studying type purposes. If I lived nearby, I would definitely be here a few times a week to study and get a coffee. Their food and cocktail options also looked fantastic and I would love to go back and try a few
I stopped in at Brass Tacks today for the first time and I'm so glad I did. For starters, this place is so cute. From the outside area to the adorable inside. I loved the whole aesthetic was great. If I lived closer, working from home, I would so come work here. The staff was amazing. So friendly and helpful to me being my first time there. I had the chicken gyro and a side of fries. Yum! It was so good. The fries were great. I also got a pineapple mimosa, which was so worth it. The champagne was strong just how I like! Check this place out if you haven't! I highly recommend.
This place is a whole vibe. I honestly haven’t seen a coffee shop at this caliber before. Pros: • Stunning interior design • Super friendly staff • Really good food • And yes… they have a bar 🍸 Cons: • Seating is hard to find because it’s almost always packed • The Wi-Fi is unreliable — it didn’t work during my last three visits • It gets pretty noisy, so bring headphones if you need focus or privacy Overall, I probably wouldn’t come here to work or study. It’s much better suited for socializing, grabbing a drink, or soaking in the atmosphere not so much for quiet productivity.
it’s always so full and hard to find seating at first. it’s a little dirty especially some of the outlets. the biggest issue is the wifi, it’s terrible so I always end up using hotspot. would I still come again? probably yes, the space is unlike any other coffee shop in houston and it’s a decent environment to get work done as most people are also working.
I’ve been to brass tacks several times over the years and always liked this place. This most recent time, I got the cinnamon roll matcha— a seasonal item. It was pretty tasty! This establishment is always bustling with people working on their computers, it’s somewhat difficult sometimes to find somewhere to sit inside, but they do have outside seating for the warmer days to be enjoyed. I only rate the service a 3 because it’s just someone whose very mono tone taking your order at the counter, nothing extraordinary.
Brass Tacks has is a chill spot with great customer service, good food and drinks. I have tried the beef patty sandwich, banana, strawberry, Nutella crepe, Viet coffee and caramel latte. The food and drinks were good. This place stays busy day and night. Not sure which days are the have the least amount of people. Wifi was not available due to many people on the server. I asked for support and was told to restart computer but that didn't work. I was very unhappy about this. I ended up using my Hotspot on my phone. The noise level is moderate due to the music volume. It be nice if the music volume was lower. There are two parking lots. One on each side of the building. The lots are small. There is free street parking. Quiet and new developed neighborhood with townhouses and apartments.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ Trendy Spot with Amazing Drinks! Brass Tacks is a total vibe — super stylish and trendy, with a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes it perfect for both getting work done or catching up with friends. I had a cortado and also tried their iced beet latte with an added espresso shot — both were fantastic! The flavor, balance, and creativity of the drinks really impressed me. The food was just okay. I ordered the Breakfast on a Pan, and while it was filling, it felt more like a cafeteria-style breakfast — nothing particularly memorable. That said, the environment more than makes up for it. Plenty of seating, cool little corners and alcoves, and an overall modern aesthetic. Their hours (7am–10pm) make it a great candidate for a fun after-work spot, which I’m definitely planning to try out next time I’m in town. Highly recommended for coffee lovers and anyone who enjoys stylish spaces. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Houston!
Great spot with great food. That said, having employees yell out every order in a coffee shop where people are trying to work is honestly diabolical. A simple food runner and table numbers would fix this instantly. Staff also hinted that management is a little stingy with condiments and measurements. I asked for less ice in my chai and ended up with half a cup… which felt like a little too literal of an interpretation. Despite that, I really love the layout, the vibe, and the diversity of the space. A few small changes could make this place exceptional.
I spent around six hours at this place studying. The place is huge, and they have plenty of seats. It was full but I was still able to find a place to sit. The decor is cute and the shop is pretty spacious. I liked that the seats were spread out. My biggest issue with this place was the wifi. It kept going off, and it was mostly down for a long time. I told the staff about it, and they didn’t seem to care at all. One person told me that “oh it happens when it’s full.” I found it to be unprofessional to know that the wifi gets down without fixing the issue. In addition, the lady that took my order didn’t seem knowledgeable of the menu at all. I asked for a strawberry matcha, and she didn’t know what it was nor if they made it. I understand that the place was busy, and that she might’ve been in training but it was an awkward conversation in my experience. The matcha was, to be honest, terrible. There was no strawberry in it, the matcha tasted bland, and there was a powdery texture to it. On the other hand, when the place cooled down a bit. The wifi worked fine, and I got a chicken rice bowl which tasted really good! I was surprised with how tasty it was. Overall, I think it’s an OK place to study, but be prepared to possibly face wifi issues.
Don’t waste your time or gas on this place. I live near the Galleria and have been coming here for years—I used to love it. Now you can never find parking, and if you do, expect to wait around 30 minutes just to get in. The Wi-Fi is so weak that you can’t reliably connect your phone or laptop (this has happened to me multiple times, so I ended up leaving). It’s way too overcrowded, and the music is extremely loud. No doubt it’s still a good spot for some people. But if you want to waste a ton of time waiting for parking, Wi-Fi, or just some open space to actually get work done, then go for it!
