Attended a fundraiser here that went beautifully despite pouring rain. The staff was very attentive. Food and drink service was prompt, and everything was delicious. Great vibe for the fundraiser. Highly recommend!
This bar has great food and good drinks! A hidden gem as you could easily pass it up but it is great for large groups, has a park next to it for kids and lots of indoor and outdoor space. Dogs welcome inside and outside. Some of the bartenders were in training when I went with my group of friends but they did a decent job and were happy to fix drinks. Food was good. Highly recommend their fries and burgers.
This restaurant/bar is tucked away to the side of the Garden Oaks Shopping Center. They sport a lot of different cocktails and beer on tap, as well as a great selection of bar grub. Throughout the week, they have happy hour discounts and daily specials. It is also very easy to reserve tables here for events. They have four areas to sit depending on your mood. The manager came out to make sure our party was taken care of and if we needed anything several times. And for sports fans like me, there are TVs throughout the bar outside and inside with different games on, which was great!
Great food and good prices!!! The best way I to describe it is southern comfort Food that's mouth watering. Perfect environment for a weekend brunch with the family, a date, or friends.
We visited on March 13th. Person taking the order wasn’t very friendly but the food was great. I live in the area and really like the atmosphere. While there someone broke into my friends car and took personal things m. Watch out where you park the security person was apparently smoking in his car and didn’t stop 🛑 it.
It is the right place to have a great time with your family or friends at any time of the day, with a wide variety of cocktails and beers. The staff is fantastic, congratulations to the owners.
Nice vibez! Noon would be the best time to arrive on the weekend. The music, people and climate was nice! The food was good minus the crawfish. Came over from the westside of town where the crawfish a bit more spicy. The crawfish had more of an ocean sea water taste not for my liking.
Cottonwood is one of our favorite spots to unwind after a good week’s work! Great food, drinks, and a laid-back atmosphere—perfect for a team night out. Always a fun way to wrap up the week and hang out outside the shop!
Food and vibes are solid ! Upper management came through and helped with a small issue we had definitely will be back !
Would definitely come here again!!! They have an incredible deal on mimosas, crawfish, and other items on the menu. It is family friendly. There were two baby showers being thrown during my visit, and a couple families brought their kiddos. They offer inside and outside seating which was very pleasant. I believe the establishment may be dog friendly as well.
Absolute wonderful time. I came for the ribeye and left with a big smile after having a lovely time. The building is as energy efficient as it is aesthetically pleasing. The manager is gold. The bartender staff is kind. I felt the attentiveness. See you again soon.
The lot fries are AMAZING and the drinks (specifically the French 75's) are delicious 😋 Staff has a great attitude and serves you efficiently!
This place is always a great place to gather with friends, chill by yourself or mingle on any given weekday night or weekend. There are some pretty impressive meals on the menu, but just knowing this place is a sister bar of Lagrange in Montrose, you're sure to realize they both know great food and drinks. Steak night runs on Tuesdays here and Wednesdays at Lagrange. Follow them on Facebook and check it out!
I had boudin balls as an appetizer and the Tuesday night Steak Night special. The boudin balls were OK. Not seasoned to my tastebuds liking. And they had cheese in them which I am not a fan of. The steaks were GREAT! Very tender and flavorful! Also, my pineapple magraita was DELICIOUS! I would definitely go back for a visit
Great neighborhood bar! Drinks and food are refreshing and tasty. We love to come for different sporting events!
Great establishment with good food and a long list of drinks to choose from. Even though the food menu isn't large, don't be fooled. Everything is cooked to perfection and they still offer a good variety. A great place to go to try out all the latest local craft brews. Take a seat at the long bar inside or enjoy the outdoors. The place is as much outdoors as it is indoors. It has a large covered patio area with picnic tables and tv's to watch the games. Just past that is a gravel area with a fire pit, an area to play Corn hole and more outdoor seating. Even better, the place is dog friendly. Texas Tuesdays are $3 Lone Star beers and live music. Too much fun you can't go worng trying this place out. I highly recommend it. I love the atmosphere. It definitely has that Austin/Heights vibe.
Great food and service, very friendly atmosphere and you can smoke even cigars in the premises. Being here several times at this wonderful place and today’s it deserves another review. The Service was awesome tonight. Katie our waitress was really good. Super professional and very attentive. This place never disappoints.
Great bar! Bartenders are very good! Really nice atmosphere!
My favorite spot in Houston so far! I just wish I lived a little closer so I could come more often. They've got a great patio that is dog friendly (my pup loved it!), an excellent selection of beers on tap, and all the food has been amazing so far (Caesar salad with fried chicken, boudin balls, Mac & cheese, green beans). Large parking lot, too. Looking forward to spending more time here.
This is a pretty nice place, it has a nicely relaxed atmosphere. The staff is always very friendly. The drinks are pretty good. Their beer selection is nice. If it's cold, they have heaters indoors and fireplaces outside. Overall, a really nice place to hang out and grab a drink.
Cottonwood offers a comfortable atmosphere with ample outdoor and patio seating including firepits for cooler days and nights. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Great place to bring a group for an outing. The food was tasty and the drinks were cold. I enjoyed my experience here. If you’re sitting near a pit don’t forget to order s’mores!
This a great spot for satisfying most of your normal inclinations to get out for a few hours and enjoy some drinks, food, sports, and/or music by yourself or with friends and family. For seating, you have several options to choose from. 1) At the bar in front of several large television screens and an impressive assortment of tap beers and liquor. 2) Inside the bar at tables more conducive for eating and a conversation with your company. 3) Inside a large music hall, sports viewing area which can be opened to the outside in nice weather. And 4) outside on picnic benches which are warmed by fire pits during cooler weather. There is a wonderful selection of pub grub at reasonable prices. It is prepared promptly and prepared perfectly for your order. The proportions are large and yummy. Throughout the week there are several happy hour discounts on drinks on offer. On Wednesday nights they have a very reasonably priced steak dinner which I am going to have to come back and try. I have lived in the Heights for over three years but this was my first time coming across the facility. I have easy driven by this place over a hundred times and never noticed it. It is located on the east side of Shepherd just north of 34th Street (A little north of 610). However, it is situated just beyond the Garden Oaks Shopping Center and is somewhat obscured from view until you get directly beside it. Also you have to access the place from an unnamed road that parallels Shepherd and runs northward from 34 th St. directly in front of the Shopping Center.
Me and my wife came here. Thus place is sort of hidden but they have a huge parking lot. This place is big and many spot to sit at. We sat inside and the waitress did an awesome job attending us. This place allows people to bring your dog also. We got thier famous signature burger, and tried there pretzel also. The pretzel is big so be prepare to share if you get it. Plenty of different kind of beer to select from also. I would recommend this place. Please Follow, Share and Like..#TrueRating
If you want to hangout to something pretty chill this is your place to come! Came for the astros game and it wasn’t crazy packed. Their food was pretty good. The price for the chicken sandwich and the burger wasn’t bad all for the price. Lots of beer to choose from if you a fan of beer.
Drinks were bussin! Great service! She did a great job 👏 we had already ate but the food smelled and looked amazing! Attentive service . Great parking in the back! Highly recommend outdoor and indoor seating! Full disclosure; I never upload any photos of myself but my bf kept complaining how fast I drank my Cosmo, … it was bussin! Of course I did lol 😆 and it’s weird looking back-looking road to the place . Keep going google and Apple Maps takes u to it. good music, too. Great vibes.
Booked a lunch get together for 25 people and reservation was easy. First time being there and the atmosphere and layout was great. Drinks were great and the food, everyone's food was delicious.
We love this place! They have some good drink specials during the week and during brunch time, on the weekends. We enjoy Whiskey Wednesday with the chicken fried steak, chicken fried chicken and fried pork chop specials, plus $2 off whiskey drinks. It's great when there's a cool evening because you can sit outside and have a fire pit lit at your table. We see a lot of people having parties and baby showers here. I can't say for sure, but I think families with kids have to leave by a certain time in the evening.
Best steak in town. The green beans and mashed potatoes are to die for. I literally crave them. I also order them as sides when I entertain and pretend I made them. 🤫 The menu is kid friendly and girl friendly, if you’re not feeling a heavy meat meal. The Caesar salad is DELICIOUS (add grilled chicken). My kids love the pocket burger. The drinks are always perfect. Great music and vibes. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We love to bring our dogs & the have a water station and bowls for them too. Repeat offender.
The weather was so nice the wife & I decided to try to find a spot to sit outside and have a couple of drinks and snacks... We found Cottonwood on Yelp and since it was close to the house we decided to give it a try... It's a sports bar with plenty of TVs to watch and plenty of sitting areas... The food was pretty damn good too... My wife had the cheeseburger which was very good... I had the lemon pepper wings... even tho I really dont care for wet wings... these were good... You could definitely taste the smoke flavor even with the wet lemon pepper sauce they poured over them... I also had the gumbo...sausage & crawfish... It was very tasty and was the 1st time I've ever had boudin balls in the gumbo before... But it actually worked well !!! We will definitely be going back as weather permits... Now, They do have all three seating areas... Indoor Covered Outside But that night we wanted to sit outside... Last thing... The outside area I know is pet friendly... We saw a couple of dogs there... We will be bringing ours with us next time
We had an amazing experience at Cottonwood. We came here for my parents 20th anniversary. We brought 18 people and were waited on hand and foot. Mr. Mike and the staff at cottonwood made my parents feel so special that they were talking about it for days. The food was great, staff is friendly, and the live band was a nice touch. Thank y'all so much for making our night a huge success. 🎉🥳🎊🎁🎈🍾🥃
I don’t know where to start, they have the best smoked wings of any spot in Houston. Their steak is TOP TEIR! Easily comparable to the finest of steak houses in the Houston area, and in my opinion a cottonwood steak is the best. The perfect atmosphere if you’re looking to relax and watch some sports or have a drink with some friends. Shout out to Mike he took great care of us at the bar. Would definitely recommend!
Many reasons we come to this establishment...the food and drinks are always amazing! The service is TOP NOTCH! The atmosphere...I could come 5 days a week, but don't want to burn out. Lol I have followed this group for years...this chef is the best at what he does. If you want an amazing steak...or pork chop (my personal favorite), make plans for Thursday and check them out! Thursday is STEAK NIGHT
Went there for steak night ($5 off any steak) and it did not disappoint! My plate was seasoned generously. My ribeye was cooked just the way I like it. Mashed potatoes and asparagus were on point! As for the bar itself. It’s relatively “cleaned”. Could use some more touch ups. They leave the water cups exposed for everyone to grab. Staff were great and always ready to help you in a moments notice.
Perfect day, Perfect Weather, Perfect Atmosphere. What more is there to say about Cottonwood?...Well for starters, plenty. I had a frozen Margarita that was strong and made a point. I ordered the Box Tacos with Fries and it was great. My friends shared the Chicken Fried Steak which they both enjoyed. College Football games on the TV's which are the standard for a Saturday. Friendly service; staff on top of their game, great food, drinks and laid back chill vibes. Cottonwood.
Pet friendly, with bowls for your pups available. The food is delicious but the wait is a bit long. They have great drinks! And my kids love that there’s a park basically connected to it. The entrance to this place is isn’t in the best location and you will easily pass it up if you’re not driving slow enough. A visit often, it’s a nice vibe.
Not going to lie, we gave this place low expectations just over the menu before making it there....boy were we wrong! If you don't do anything in life, please try Cottonwood out! We had a group of 20+ for a birthday party and even though our area was reserved they had plenty of seating inside and out. The staff is very attentive! The chef Zack was really nice and the food was so fresh and hot. Being the big party we had the food did not take long at all, he even joked about all the potatoes he had to cook for our table lol. We really went through a lot of the menu and I didn't get pictures of everything. If there would be one thing bad I'd say is that you have to walk to the bar to order but that's not a bad draw at all. There was a band setting up before we left so I can imagine the atmosphere being even better during the night. I would definitely come back here when in Houston again!
I recently had the pleasure of enjoying the best burger and fries of my life at a this pretty chill place. Cottonwood featured excellent live music that was on when we arrived around 630. The food was freaking amazing, and it would probably be dangerous for my health if I lived any closer to this place. The burger was cooked to perfection, with a juicy patty that was bursting with flavor. It was topped with melted cheese, crispy bacon, and fresh spinach, all of which added to the overall deliciousness of the dish. The bun was soft and toasted, providing the perfect texture for each bite. The fries were equally impressive, perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They were seasoned just right, with a perfect balance of salt and herbs, and were the perfect accompaniment to the burger. We had to ask how it was possible the fries tasted this good. Something about wagyu oil or something? Whatever, they are the reigning champ of the fry world. The atmosphere of the bar and grill was relaxed and welcoming, with friendly staff and great live music. The musicians were talented and created the perfect ambiance for enjoying a meal and drinks with friends. Overall, I would highly recommend this bar and grill for anyone in search of a delicious meal and a great time. From the outstanding food to the excellent music, it's the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the best burger and fries you've ever had.
Really good food. They have a good selection of draft beers on draft and a really large alcohol selection as well. I'm usually a beer guy especially with a burger but the bloody mary sounded great and it tasted great to boot. They have a large outdoor area with half of it covered. There's a large swamp cooler running to keep the heat at bay. They had a couple of corn hole sets available for guests. Will definitely go back. The onion rings are raved about but I just found them ok. They were definitely super crunchy...almost too crunchy.

Food and atmosphere were great! The pork chop is a must. Their truffle fries are savory. The ribeye is also just how I like it.

Went here for the first time on Father's day. It's a "walk in and order at the counter - go sit down and your food is delivered" kind of place. The pork chop was huge. The grilled chicken Caesar salad was huge. Responsive staff
I had a amazing steak here last week and will be going again this week. It’s got a few areas where they could work on, but the food was great and it’s a very clean place. The people behind the bar could be nicer but they are still doing their job correctly. I enjoyed the atmosphere especially the car event I happen to come across my first time there. Very cool spot. Definitely recommend.
2017: Always a good time. Food is good, with some original dishes. Good beer selection and some unique craft cocktails. Update, September 2024. First visit in five years and it has changed. The menu has changed to a more basic short order menu and the craft cocktails are gone. Still a good beer selection and part of the patio has been enclosed and air conditioned. It’s all counter service now, but the bartender was great. Service was exceptional and she took a food return with a smile.
Visits about 25. *Edit: greatly improved since new management. Great atmosphere and as everyone mentions pet friendly. You will see a great crowd enjoying themselves every time. A nice selection of drinks, but a limited selection on the food menu. The place has more potential and can be a great venue. Too much of an open space and not enough shade for daytime activities. This idea that certain hours or certain tables don't have a server and you have to go to the bar to order yourself really makes it undesirable.
All was good minus the seating situation. Keep in mind it was a Saturday and a lot of their seating is outdoors. Which was not being used because Texas decided to have a few days of winter in spring. Ended up sitting at the bar which is actually comfortable to eat a meal. Staff was quick and friendly. I will be back to give it another try when the weather is nice. There were lots of televisions for viewing the Astros game and a live band playing.
Hard to get to your first time. You have to take this lil access rd in front of Pink's Pizza....it was an "if it was a snake it would have bit ya" kind of moment to see that lil road. It is a very cool atmosphere with very nice friendly service. It's a popular place. It was heavily attended for the crawfish deal. I was terribly disappointed on the crawfish. They lacked flavor AND they were out of corn.🙄 Like that's a critical part for me. My local HEB does them (crawfish) on the weekend during crawfish season and they taste waaaay better. For the price it was a nice experience but nothing to write home about.
The food was regular. Nothing special, but the environment was nice and fun. We had a small party there. The staff don't really tell you how to order, so you kind of have to figure that out unless you've been there before. The staff were pretty laid back, which I enjoyed. The indoor/ outdoor was cute.
Really nice place and perfect for quick trip with friends or a casual small.party. they have big selection of beers and other alcoholic drinks. We ordered many of the appetizers and snacks and all were good. It is rare that we ordered so many items at a place and everything turned so good. The area is big and they have covered as well open area outside. While from outside, this place may not look much, but once you get inside of it, you can see that this place can easily accommodate over 100 people at a time.
5 stars for vibe, drinks and dog-friendliness! 3 for food, so a 4 overall. This bar almost has it all - solid indoor and covered patio seating, fantastic outside patio (including newly “turfed” beer garden area), TV’s all around, so great for sports watching, gas fire pits for cooler nights (and S’mores!), live music on the weekends, brunch on Sunday, great service (usually, if it’s not too terribly crowded) and train shots ($4 every time to train passes by). Food menu is a bit limited. Typical bar food, but wish there were more side options (Brussels, steak fries, mashed potatoes, seasonal steamed veggies, onion rings, etc would all he welcome additions to the menu). Best servers there are Olivia, Cecily and Kat! Bartenders are all boss.
Food was delicious and the drinks were strong. There was a discrepancy with my friends card as they'd accidentally switched her tab with someone else's and charged her about $50 more, but the managers quickly resolved it so we wre pleased. I will return.

Cottonwood has decent parking, the location is by a small unused road beside the main road. There's ample seating and they have indoor and outdoor seating. You order food at the bar, unless you want crawfish then you order it at a different area. My friend got the chicken sandwich which he loved. I got the cheese sandwich and subbed the fries for crawfish fries. It was too much food for me. The grilled sandwich was decent but dry, I'm guessing they didn't use salted butter on the bread. The crawfish fries were mixed. Some parts had plenty of seasoning and tasted phenomenal. Other parts were unseasoned and tasted bland. Every bite was a surprise, I had no idea what I was getting. My friend wanted to go there since they had a good deal on the crawfish. I only like the Asian crawfish so I didn't eat any. The crawfish looked dry and unseasoned. I didn't even smell any seasoning, which is common in well seasoned crawfish. I'm guessing the crawfish varies there depending on who is working that section. There's no way that crawfish could've been good.
I would have given this place a better rating if it wasn’t because I was the last one in getting my food of my friends we ordered at the same time and I had to go to the bar and asked about my food they looked like they couldn’t find my order. Everyone that got there after I ordered got their food before me. The meat was too thick and the bread was bigger than the size of the meat it wasn’t a even amount of bread and meat this burger is a 4/10 one of my friends got the crawfish fries and they were good I would say 8/10. I also had a frozen hurricane and it was aright 7/10
This ain't it! I don't know what else to say, or the steak wasn't it! Sadly I'm disappointed, I was looking forward to it. Staff was nice.
Been coming here for a while and the food and drink quality is getting progressively worse. To the point that it's dive bar quality but with regular restaurant prices. The food is the biggest disappointment. Had appetizers and the beef fat fries taste like a cross between Burger King and a diner french fry. The mac n cheese was absolutely disgusting. Like they dumped a jar of salt garlic powder on it which is super weird on a mac n cheese. The chicken fried steak bites tasted like they were fried in old oil. Kind of like fried beef fat chunks.
We arrived at 12:10 and put in our order. As of 2:10 the food was not received. We asked about the status on several occasions, and were told it was coming. The 2 star rating comes because the crawfish ( which we’re purchased separately) were solid and the prices were reasonable. But the service was absolutely awful. At the end we just decided to leave and go elsewhere.
Not worth the price or the wait. Almost one hour after the others at our table got their orders, and asking 3 different servers where our order was it finally arrived. 2 separate orders of the crab…

I will never step foot in this place again. What a stupid idea for a restaurant/bar, having everyone line up to order, so when you finally get to the rude bartender/whatever(person that takes your food order)your patience has expired. I go to a restaurant that charges more to be treated respectfully, not feel like I'm in a Russian bread line. Avoid at all costs.
I'm a big wing guy, so I ordered their Saturday wing special. The wings were the toughest, chewiest wings (or ANY kind of meat) I've ever attempted to eat in my life. A rubber dog toy would have been easier to eat. The flavor was alright, but that doesn't exactly matter when you literally can't take a bite out of the meat.
A lot of inconsistencies even within our table with proportions, product and presentation. We showed up at opening, 12-12:30 for brunch, and they were out of/didn’t serve most of their brunch menu including shrimp and grits, biscuits, and a few others. It should also be a company policy to not feed or water a dog without asking. If my significant other wouldn’t have caught it, I would have ended up in the hospital with my dog. An employee came up and without asking, and my back turned, tried to give my dog a treat and ice water. He’s allergic to all dog food and treats unfortunately, and thankfully someone caught it before he actually ate it.
Update: I wanted to give this place another chance. We came for crawfish on Sunday. After trying to order and dealing with their glitches for 20 minutes, we were finally able to order! After an hour ....still no crawfish. I inquired where my order was and they told me it takes time. Ok...and hour and half later..still no crawfish. I again asked and was told with an attitude that they were out of crawfish. No one even bothered to tell us After waiting for an hour and half for food. When I told them that this entire experience was unnecessary they told me it wasn't their fault. Six of us came here for brunch and every single one of our orders were messed up or never made. Then the manager had the nerve to come to my table and tell me that they were busy and it wasn't their fault. They didnt even make an attempt to resolve their mess up. Absolutely do not come here! They apparently can't get their act together! Original post: We came here for steak night. I ordered my steak medium rare and it came out well done. It was grey in the middle and like shoe leather. I took it home and gave it to my dog. At least he was happy. The green beans were not seasoned at all and the mashed potatoes were runny. It was more like potato soup puddled on the bottom of the plate. I would not return based on the lousy food, nor would I recommend anyone waste their time here.
Not a good experience at all. We had a large group of people come in after a funeral. We personally had never been here before so we had some questions and conversations with Mike who was taking our order. Pretty funny guy and interesting sense of humor. We had conversations about steak options. In the end we ordered two of the Filet options on the menu. $31 each. We also ordered gumbo which is on the menu as "Crawfish and Venison sausage" $12 Mike told us it wasn't on the menu, but it is if you use their QR code link to their menu. we also ordered a Deep eddy vodka and cranberry double ($20) When our steaks came out the first came out and was a ribeye. I thought maybe they gave us someone else's since we remember ordering two filets so I took it up to get clarification with the server. I caught the server with our other plate coming out of the kitchen and asked him what number table this was for because we ordered the filet. Mike came out of the kitchen and stated "no you ordered the ribeye" ok. My guess is that with all the joking and messing around there was a misunderstanding. I said that it was fine and I started to head back to the table and Mike said are you going to take this one referring to the steak the server was holding, I said "yea, i thought he was taking it to the table, sorry". I went to get the plate and then Mike said again "Oh no, he will take it to the table for you", but in this sarcastic tone where it made me feel like I was being some kind of pretentious jackass or something. After getting our steaks to the table, I was wondering where the gumbo was since we hadn't received it yet. I went up to the register to ask for the receipt and Mike came from the kitchen again and asked "what's the problem" I told him i wanted the receipt to check on things and see if we paid for the gumbo we didn't get yet. He said "oh i didn't put that in!" Let me go get one. He went back into the kitchen and grabbed one and I reached for it and he was about to hand it to me and then said "Oh wait, let me take it to the table for you" in reference to the earlier conversation. i think this was part of his sense of humor, but it came across as sarcastic. The gumbo had great flavor but literally two pieces of sausage (round slices) and no crawfish. It's cool to joke around some with customers but still gotta do your job right and make sure that your jokes don't go too far.
We drove about an hour to Cottonwood in Houston because we wanted to try their steaks. Before coming, we called and were told the kitchen would be open until 10:00 PM. We arrived at 7:30 PM, and when we got there, they told us the kitchen was closing at 8:00 PM. That was already frustrating, but what made it worse was how the staff handled it. When we mentioned that we had called ahead and were told otherwise, the bar attendants completely blew us off and did not take any accountability. No one tried to resolve the issue, apologized properly, or offered any kind of customer service recovery. Even a small gesture would have gone a long way, but there was nothing. I’ve never left a bad review before, but this experience was very disappointing. We went out of our way to come here, and the service was terrible. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this place.
They need to have a serious conversation with whoever is the cook on Sunday evenings. The boudin stuffed shrimp I received was raw. The bacon was raw. I bit into and got a mouth full of raw meat. Not sure what that was about. Atmosphere and service was great but this raw food thing needs to be addressed asap.
