Tip: The food is generally well-received, especially the steak and shrimp tacos. Some found the chicken flautas dry, so consider other options.

Truly amazing food and service and very clean and nice place. I tried steak and fish tacos with nachos and it was excellent! Can’t wait to come back with family and friends. They are Halal too. Highly recommend it. The steak and the food is fresh and excellent! I promise you’ll love it too and their customer service is awesome! Very nice staff! Thank you so much and God bless!
My new favorite taqueria! So happy they expanded and love everything I’ve tried so far! The husband and wife owners are also adorable and make everyone feel so welcome.
One of the best Halal Taqueria in east bay. I have been to the original one in Oakland and it was amazing . Excited for the restaurant and it was amazing . Excellent decor and service was quick and friendly. I will be back again.
The food tastes amazing, I've been going to Oakland for years now, just to pick up a steak burrito or some Halal steak Nachos. To have this location 5min from me is a blessing lol. Food is always prepped and served to perfection. The service at this location is very well done. Moner did a fantastic job serving us. Overall it was a great experience and the food was delicious! I'm excited to visit again soon! Great job guys for opening a very lively halal tasty restaurant.
So glad I don't have to drive all the way out to Oakland or San Jose anymore when I'm craving halal Mexican food. Nice vibe inside, cool place to hang out with friends and family. And of course the food is delicious. Hard to find a halal place that's got the whole package and this is it. Will be a regular here.
We have been here 3-4 times already and tried almost everything on their menu. We love the burritos, super tacos, steak fries and their spicy sauce!
Maya’s Halal Taqueria in Union City honestly deserves every bit of praise I can give. It's one of those rare places where the food has real soul — the kind of place you only find when someone cares deeply about what they’re serving. You can taste the freshness right away — nothing heavy, nothing lazy, nothing mass-produced. Just bold flavor, clean ingredients, and that perfect balance of Mexican comfort with the trust and warmth of a halal kitchen. The carne asada and birria stood out...And even the tortillas… man, it all tastes like someone actually thought about the details instead of just phoning it in. I met the owners and you can see the pride in the service, and the sense that this place is doing something meaningful — blending cultures, respecting traditions, and giving the community something special. If you’re anywhere near Union City, stop by. This isn’t just “great halal food.” It’s great food, period.
We ordered the Shrimp and Steak Tacos. The shrimp were so fresh and delicious. The Tacos had the perfect blend of spices and seasoning. We love coming to Maya's for their great service and delicious food.
Great food and even better service! Maya’s always delivers with amazing food and the staff is always so kind :) I got the Lady Boss and Cheeto Burrito, it was soooooo good
We ordered Chicken super Burritos and steak fries and both of them were amazing but my personal favourite was the chicken super burrito very flavorful. We really enjoyed the food and the manager also gave us a complimentary cucumber and lime drink which was also very refreshing with basils. Highly recommended!
Excellent surf and turf burritos! 🌯 Friendly service and a wide variety of menu options. If you haven't eaten here, it's time to excite your taste buds!
Great atmosphere and beautiful decor. Friendly staff and great food. I appreciate the Vegan options on the menu. Found this place very randomly, will come back if I am in the vicinity
I have been missing good Mexican food since I left Texas in April and this halal spot is this place that doesn’t make me miss Home so much. The food is great. The atmosphere is super cute and the service is excellent.

I visited with my team of 16 people, and we were pleasantly surprised by the smooth experience. There was no wait for our table, and the food was served impressively fast within just 20 minutes. The food was absolutely amazing, and the service was exceptional. A big thank you to Lulu and Moner for making our visit so enjoyable!

We had a fantastic dining experience at Maya Halal. We ordered enchiladas and tacos, and both were bursting with flavor and freshly prepared. Will be going back to try out more items on the menu.
Friendly vibes here, cool decor, giant tv screens, and colorful plush seating. I think the Lady Boss Burrito and Enchiladas are popular items in the menu. Halal meat menu Mexican style. It’s in the UPS Store/Starbucks section of Union City on Alvarado Blvd and Dyer Street. Lots of parking. Worth a visit out with friends or family.

this place deserves kudos for the creative logo and decor. music was too loud, but the waitress graciously reduced the volume upon request. staff were overall very nice. food arrived and looked great. chicken flautas was dry and tasteless. chicken supreme burrito was packed and tasty but too salty. I'd love to return and try the tacos. waitress asked how the food was and I mentioned it was dry, which appeared to have left her baffled, but I think she took our comments back and it appears nothing was made of it. I'd still like to return for another try and hopefully raise the stars.

I tried Maya Halal Taqueria in Fremont based on Google reviews while searching for a halal dine-in spot. Personally, I feel this place is more hype than authenticity. For my taste, it didn’t really deliver. If I’m being honest, I wouldn’t come back again—it’s more of a one-time visit. I didn’t enjoy the California burrito or the salsa with chips; I felt I could make better versions at home 🙅🏼♀️. The California burrito made me feel bloated fries were too salty, and the wrap didn’t sit well with me. Atmosphere was decent, but it was cold inside, which made the experience uncomfortable. That said, for all halal food lovers who want to explore different ethnic flavors, trying it once won’t hurt

Got my debit card information stolen from here, only place I went out to eat for the week couple days later I get a notification that someone tried to clean my bank account and withdraw all my cash. This place is on some shady business practice, be careful when paying with card here as their register/POS system saves all your debit/credit card information. Lady in front is very rude and when I asked her about it she started getting loud. Highly don't recommend this place
Been coming here for years but it’s so sad to see how much their business has grown, prices gone up, but quality of food just keeps going lower & lower. I stand on maya & always go to Oakland location, so when everyone was telling me how the Union city location sucks I didn’t believe them…. Till I went myself. Terrible is all I gotta say & it’s sad. I ordered 4 steak tacos for like $26+ & I was so disappointed. I asked for simple steak tacos but the tortillas look like they were made for Birria had all this weird stuff on it. Like they took the meat out of the birria & used it for regular taco lol. I went 2 different occasions. Same thing twice!!!! Oakland would never. So I think Union city one is terrible stay away. Oakland still is fire …
I had a really frustrating experience here, less because of a simple mistake (which happens), and more because of how it was handled and what happened with the bill. I ordered a quesabirria taco plate and asked to substitute the beef for chicken and swap the cheese for guacamole. The waiter initially said the cheese couldn’t be substituted for guac. After some discussion, he said he could remove the cheese and provide guacamole on the side instead. When the food arrived, it came with both melted cheese inside the tacos and guacamole on the side (not what we agreed to). When we pointed this out, the waiter suggested I should just “scrape the melted cheese off and eat it,” and said we’d be charged if they had to remake it because he “repeated the order.” After some back-and-forth (since he never clearly stated the tacos would still include cheese), he finally agreed to remake it without charging us. Mistakes happen, so that part was fine The bigger issue was at checkout. Another server came with the total, repeated our items, and we paid Google Pay. After we paid, he asked, “Are you sure there are only 2 birria tacos?” We said there were 3. He was about to charge us again for a “third” taco, but something felt off, especially since the amount we paid already seemed correct, so we asked for the itemized bill. He walked away, came back, and then said we had actually already been charged for 3 taco plates. Had we not checked the bill, they would have successfully charged us for a 4th plate On top of that, the food was bland and lacked flavor. f you go, ask for an itemized receipt and double-check everything before paying.
Very bad customer service 😒😒… asked for extra sauce for my burrito and she said it will be a dollar. I gave her the dollar and she said it will be 1$ + tax😂 You should be making things easy for your customers not hard. Will never go back.

Horrible Service. Literally the worst service I have ever seen or heard of, no exaggeration. They accused my brother of not paying after he picked up the food by literally calling him and saying he had to come back and pay for a takeout order. He sent a screenshot showing the credit card charges and all they said was "my bad". Who does something like that unless they are absolutely sure of what occurred, incredibly unprofessional and rude. Another time they gave our pickup order to someone else and we had to wait an extra 30 minutes for them to remake it. They said they would throw in extra chips as an apology, then they charged us for the chips. Most recently, when asking for more sauce, they claimed it was $4 each for the tiny sauce containers. Seems like an attempted scam to pocket some cash. Do yourself a favor and go to the Oakland location instead of this one. The personnel at this location either need either serious retraining, or there's an issue going all the way up to management.
