Very comfortable family vibe, i don't mind waiting, the ladies remind me of my mom and me a kid waiting for the food to be done, lol. I ordered the shrimp basket, you cannot beat the fresh taste, light breading, and the price. Went two days in a row and ordered the same dish. Next, I'll try their seafood gumbo and pasta dish. Found me a new place to get lunch that has an amazing menu. Thinking about trying their snow cones. The only thing they need to work on, is thier online menu, new customers do not know the place offers way more dishes, the online ordering does not have thier full menu. I think the place is losing out on potential buisiness, but if you know what you want, you can call it in.
A coworker introduced me to this place. I got the oxtail plate which is every Friday, it was at a great price of 18.00 and they give you a large portion. The 2 sides that I got were Mac and cheese and cabbage. The Mac was with cheese sauce vs baked but it was good, I loved the flavor of the cabbage. The oxtails and rice were good, I slow cook my oxtails to super tender but that’s my personal preference, theirs were tender but still I would have cooked them slower and lower but trust me, they were still good. Prices are reasonable, atmosphere is nice, staff are friendly and next time I’ll try the pork chops! I will be back!!!
A GEM! Food was INCREDIBLE. Open late on a Saturday night. I had a glitch with ordering online with chownow but when I got there to pick up the lady working got it sorted out and had my food ready to go within 10 minutes. Fresh, made to order. SO DELICIOUS. Quaint quiet little spot. Nice little escape from the madness going on right outside on a Saturday night. I didn’t get a chance to try the beneigts, so bummed about that. But I’ll definitely be back one day. Highly recommend. I had the bourbon street pasta and my husband had 6piece wings. Zero complaints. Atmosphere, food, customer service. 5 stars for all!
I ordered the oxtails, rice/gravy, red beans/rice, smothered cabbage. The smothered cabbage was a very big NO, scooped that off my plate. Ordered a 10 piece buffalo lemon pepper with fries for takeout. Wings were large and great taste after a reheat. Lemon cake was addictive. Fast friendly service. Hot food. Will go back to try the gumbo
Food was amazing, especially those darn beignets! The crawfish and turkey necks were very flavorful and the prices are extremely reasonable. Lastly, the service was fantastic! We travel far and wide looking for the best food and this is a hidden gem in our very own backyard. We definitely will be back!
Absolutely Incredible Experience at Little New Orleans! From the moment we walked into Little New Orleans, we knew we were in for something special. Mr. Reed, the owner, is simply amazing. He greeted us personally and showed us nothing but genuine love and hospitality. That kind of warmth sets the tone for the whole experience. Right at the door, Ms. Angela welcomed us with one of the most pleasant attitudes and the brightest smile. It’s rare to walk into a new place and instantly feel at home, but she made that happen effortlessly. And the food… my goodness, the FOOD! Everything, from the appetizers to the grits, the fish, and the sautéed shrimp, was absolutely phenomenal. Every dish was seasoned to perfection and full of flavor. I’ve never visited a new restaurant and truly enjoyed every single thing I ordered until now. The atmosphere was comfortable, inviting, and full of that authentic Southern charm. The ladies working there treated us so well, no attitudes, no rushing, just genuine care. They made sure we felt the love and tasted the love in every bite. Thank you so much, Mr. Reed, for creating a place that not only feeds the body but warms the soul. I can’t wait to come back!
The gumbo was really good, as well as the pecan praline candy. I ordered the combo gumbo which was the seafood & the chicken sausage gumbo combined with a grill cheese sandwich. The rue was nice and had a good color to it. It was a decent amount of meat (however, I'm used to a little more meat in my Gumbo restaurant bought included after living in New Orleans) but overall still pretty good. The grill cheese sandwich was your basic regular grill cheese sandwich. Paired well with the gumbo as most people from New Orleans usually do with gumbo. The daiquiris aren't that great taste wise but the gumbo was good so it didn't matter. The service was underwhelming. The cashier was very nonchalant. Seemed bored, tired and ready to go home. It did rain that day so that could be the causefor her restless mood. She wasn't rude just dry so I'll give her grace. Again food was great and I will be ordering from them again in the future. I recommend this eatery.
What a way to end the night! I had saved this place from Instagram and went around 11 pm on Saturday, truly a chill restaurant that's open late too if you're not wanting loud music I got the catfish poboy, mac n cheese, koolaid slushie, and order of beignets and it was all $30 which was perfect as i had leftovers. Everything was delicious and came out hot! The fish on the sandwich was well seasoned and it was hearty as it had 3 pieces. The mac n cheese was VERY rich so be ready, but i rather something be too good over bland and you can tell they put heart in it. The slushy was sweet but not overwhelming, great for the htx heat. And the beignets! A little chewier than expected but still pillowy and classic powdered sugar look. They even reheated in the microwave well! This place is putting care in what they put out so i pray they continue to make it, worth trying anytime of day! Great addition
A quaint little spit in downtown Houston. We got the chicken and waffles. They were good. A suitable substitute for how we do them in Maryland. I'd definitely go back.
I’ve visited Little New Orleans several times and tried different items on the menu, but the étouffée I had today was truly exceptional—the best I’ve ever tasted. Honestly, it even surpasses some of the places I’ve eaten at in Louisiana! If you’re in the downtown area, you absolutely must try this spot—it will bless your belly. Thank me later!
This is a hidden gem. They have a nice menu but I've only tried the crawfish ettoufee and I'm addicted to it. What I like about this place is the owner is always there and assisting with the day to day operations. I recommend this location to anyone who's tired of eating the same type of food. Treat yourself! Thank me later.
An Absolute Gem. Whether it is Day or Night. A light will shine as a becon to leading into the front door. That's of course if the smells didn't alert your senses to a great place nearby. Staying true to the soul and core of every human's craving. Food. Even in the big city location, it still feels like that personal hideaway that you have by the house where you can grab a great meal and forget about the troubles of your day. Fresh Greens. A cornucopia of finest meats and pairings. Desserts are handmade. The food is made and handled with love as evident of the professionalism and Care from the staff make this place not only home, but unique cornerstone of the city itself. Even if you don't know what you want to eat, walking in here you'll end up going home with gold. Highly suggested, If you have not tried yet. A1. Peace & Ja Love
This is my go to spot. I’m from New Orleans and this is the only place in Houston that I have went to that the food gives me a taste of Home literally. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. The food spectacular if you are not from New Orleans and you wanna taste of that creole style, you better be heading downtown Houston to Little New Orleans because you’re gonna get it in and if you’re from that city you know where you need to go you heard me
That food for sure was tasty. I got the Boudin balls filled pepperjack cheese side of New Orleans sauce, crawfish étouffée, banana pudding and a red cream soda… It came out hot and fresh too
10/10 all around! We ordered almost half the menu last time we were here. NOTHING DISAPPOINTED !! The owner even talked to us and made sure we were enjoying everything. We will be coming here everytime we visit downtown Houston 💘 Seafood pasta is the best ‼️ My brother got the tenders and they HIT. Quick service even with a line out the door. Thank you 🙏
I traveled to Houston on Wednesday 9/17 for business and was looking for a good place to eat. I was really exhausted and did not feel like leaving my hotel so I looked for a place that had Door Dash. I was looking for something different other than the usual chinese, burger, or sub-joint, when I happened to stumble upon Little New Orleans. Man Oh’Man, did I not make a mistake. I am from NJ but have been in NM for 18 years. I have also traveled the lower 48 states 3 times never been to AK or HI and really have no interest because of their overbearing expensiveness. Back to my review. So, I perused the menu at LNO and landed on there favorites which was the Bourbon St. Pasta, Crawfish Egg rolls, and for desert Beignets. All were absolutely delish. If anyone travels to Houston and you are with a significant other than try these three items. They shall not disappoint. I was alone and could not finish. Unfortunately, the servings were too large for one person to eat all three items. This is not a complaint, it’s a compliment. Had I lived in Houston, I would have had lunch or dinner the next day for sure. Because there is no way I would have given it away. But I did, it did not go to waste. I was a head Chef at a seaside resort in NJ in the late 80’s thru early 90’s this place has a lot going for it. When I ‘m back in Houston I will be back! Keep it Up!
Door dashed this order it was so good. This place is a must.. The Order was packed well. My husband swears it was the best burger he has ever consumed. The gumbo was full of meat and the taste was spot on.
Little New Orleans DID NOT MISS! In fact they never do. I frequent this spot quite often and order the étouffée at least twice a week. My son and I love this dish and he loves the red beans as well. I’m a New Orleans native and this dish is one of my favs and always on point. I will definitely continue to support this business.
Came here with family from Louisiana and we enjoyed everything we tried. Oxtails with rice and gravy, black eyed peas and greens were seasoned well. Cajun pasta, wings, yakamein, red beans and boudin balls all met expectations.
The best hushpuppies I've had west of the TX-LA border, hands-down. The fried catfish goes crazy!! Even the toast left me speechless. Too good. One of the best Cajun spots I've had the pleasure to try so far. Will be coming back again & again. The service was super great, the staff seem to take a lot of pride in their work here, as they should!! A must-try, super convenient spot right off the rail & in the heart of downtown!
While attending a convention in Downtown Houston, me and my group of friends will look over something to eat. I am from Houston and I know some spots outside of downtown that are great but this place was something I was very curious about. When we walked in from the back entrance, we were greeted and they asked us if we had any questions about the menu as well as the specials. The menu was very robust as and they had something for everybody including vegan options. They had stuff for breakfast, lunch, something small, or something big depending on your appetite. After finally being undecided, I went for the six piece wings combo with fries and got half Cajun, half barbecue. I think we got lucky because we came right after the lunch traffic. Because of that, my food came to me in a quick time and the food was made to order. First bite was fresh hot and delicious. I ended up not talking to my friends for the rest of the time until my meal was finished. It smelled so good before I open the box I told my friends I had to definitely think about coming back here to get something to eat. The next time I come back to this location which will probably be tomorrow, I am going to look into getting the catfish basket. I highly recommend it especially if those who are staying in the downtown area and want to walk around and find some food this is a great spot to get if you don't want to drive.
So far we had breakfast here twice and both times were delicious. Their ultimate shrimp and grits came with a fish fillet. It was fried lighter than I’m used too but was delicious none the less. The next day, I had a hot sausage sandwich and waffle. Just as good as the other breakfast. If you are in Houston for an event and need a quick, low cost breakfast place, this is located a few blocks away from the aloft downtown
Ordered food from door dash, so I didn't go to the restaurant. I think some of the reviews are negative because this food was actually cooked, not heated from a jar. I love the taste of home cooked food and if you do too, you'll like this place. I'll be ordering from them again and maybe get a chance to eat at the actual restaurant.
oh my word!!! the best shrimp po boy we’ve had in a very long time!! They were big and juicy! they didn’t skimp on the amount of shrimp! yum yum!

Y'ALL. I just about wept over how good this food was. We over-ordered and I'm glad we did so we could all share. Everything tasted just like home. The seafood platter was cooked just right, the shrimp and grits had perfectly seasoned juicy shrimp and the creamiest grits, the seafood gumbo was so flavorful, the po boy was packed full with shrimp (I'd already eaten at least 4-5 before the photo)... but let me shout from the rooftops to y'all about the yaka mein. This is now in my top 3 dishes I've eaten in Houston. I have been missing yaka mein for 20 years and this is the BEST I have ever had, including Louisiana. Spiced just perfectly, the beef absolutely melts in your mouth, the shrimp have the right kick, it just tastes gorgeous. I almost didn't want to share but everyone at the table needed to taste a little bit of that heaven. And LORD THE BEIGNETS. These are true New Orleans beignets. Pillowy soft with plenty of powdered sugar. Service was excellent, everyone was friendly even though the orders were really starting to pick up. The atmosphere was cozy, not a ton of seating so you won't want to bring a big crew for a sit-down (you will want to bring them for to-go orders though). The music was great. Everything had that vibe of true New Orleans - the parts that are real cooking instead of touristy. Now that I've found this place, I'll be here as much as possible. Might load up my Q Card so I can take the train. (Parking can be tough but we came on a Wednesday, so we got lucky enough to find a space on the street, but there's a garage right behind it around the corner.) If you miss New Orleans food, THIS IS YOUR SPOT. THEY DAT!! I can't wait to eat these leftovers tomorrow for real.
Tiny spot in downtown Houston, but the Cajun flavor is loud and proud. Little New Orleans may not take up much square footage, but it fills the whole block with soul. We went on Fat Tuesday and let me tell you, that gumbo was dark, rich, and packed with depth. The jambalaya came in swinging, bold seasoning, perfect heat, zero shortcuts. Big Louisiana energy in a small Houston space. The gentleman running it, I believe the manager, was super friendly and hands on. He knew customers by name, joked around, checked on tables, and made everyone feel seen. He’s from Louisiana himself, so when he and my husband started talking about their Louisiana roots and heritage, it wasn’t small talk. It was pride. It was home. Small place. Big Cajun flavor. Real hospitality. Five stars all day.
Had this place on my itinerary when I came for the Cardi B concert and omg, I was not disappointed! I had to order more to take back to Mississippi honey! Everybody was friendly and the service was FAST! And the food was phenomenal! Glad I decided to try them out! Loved the fish and grits! Loved the beignets too! Better than cafe du monde in New Orleans in my opinion! I will be back my next time in Houston!

I am pleased with the taste however this was my first time ordering from here and I looked at the menu @ ultimate shrimp and grits and they are not the same. I had to call the place to see if they puts cheese in they grits.... But it was explained that the side of cheese sauce was left out but they automatically put cheese in the grits... My grits didn't taste like it had cheese in it and they was white with exception of the toast crumbs and butter.... I put my shrimp and it's juice in my grits and made it do what it do. Again the taste was good but I was ready for some good ol nice cheesy saucey grits like how it was pictured on the menu.... I also ordered the pepper jack boudin balls they were so good. I would go back there and eat again. I just was a lil disappointed in the grits that's all other then that food service and the place it's self was cool and it was my first time there too.**** Ooops I was so worried about those grits I forgot all about hat fried catfish that came with it... Y'all that thing was slapping... Meaning it was definitely good**** this is definitely a nice spot to go too just make sure you look at your food because that way your not disappointed when you get to your destination..... 😌
We were looking for late-night food in the downtown area and discovered this gem. The Bourbon Street Pasta with Catfish was really good; it was a bit cheesy but flavorful. The beignets were hot and fresh and tasty! The catfish was just okay, but the fries had good seasoning. The strawberry slush is good too for those hot Houston days. Besides the beignets, I was impressed with the price for the portion. This was a lifesaver when you need something quick, cheap, and good without leaving downtown.
I’ve worked in this area for years, and, have only recently tried this place. My coworkers and I tried the pasta, greens, crawfish egg rolls and the boudin balls. I didn’t try the egg rolls or boudin balls, but the pasta was pretty good. The greens were fire!! Add hot sauce or not, still a good taste. Def going back!
Bringing a bit of the Bayou to Houston. This place needs its props. One thing I will say depending on what you order determines whether you get a taste of Louisiana or a more curated taste for those of non Creole background, however every meal I've had from them have been made fresh and steaming. The staff gives variations of hospitality that reminds me of positive dining experience I've had off Bourbon St. Can't comment on the daquiries yet but I look forward to. I think adding more music in whether softly playing jazz or playing New Orleans rappers like Lil Wayne may be an assist but otherwise....I hope their audience finds them soon
I had the shrimp, sausage and chicken, gumbo, and Boudin balls, which was extremely good. The gumbo had large shrimp very meaty Meaning full of meat and it was enough for two people the price was reasonable, but the service was horrible The light skinned chick that works the register that took the orders had no customer service whatsoever. I asked about items on the menu. She looked at me crazy as if I had supposed to know That's why I give four stars. The food was great, but the service was horrible.
This lil spot is actually pretty decent. Marked down on atmosphere, because it's too crowded and has to much in it. In my 4 day visit I came here twice. It was around the corner from my hotel so it was close and convenient to Club Quarters hotel, JW Marriott and AC hotel amongst others. The Northline I think it's recline passes it. It is downtown so you won't be able to park nearby. Food is fattening so you need to walk anyways. So, first day I had the oxtail. Great flavor. But they were sliced thin not whole bones. Like thin as in the whole plate would make 1 big bone. I guess at 19.99 that make sense. But disappointing. Mac and cheese was really great and the greens appeared to be fresh from the garden. But not sure if they tasted fresh. They weren't bad, but still not amazing. Salt level was average. As always could tone down a bit. The second visit I had the shrimp and catfish plate. Again, they do things to accomplish their task, but may upset customers. They say 3 pieces, but the sizes are all different. Stop being deceptive. The shrimp were all a nice size. Everything was perfectly seasoned and not too salty. Coleslaw was hot and disgusting. Not sure why they put cold Coleslaw in a hot plate. Fries were nice. Of course out of a bag. Hush puppies were nice too. If you're not going to make it fresh don't sell it. Perhaps slim down your menu. That will allow you to focus on making great fresh food vs having to do things just because it's on the menu. The hypnotiq daiquiri was nice and strong. Not too sweet. The peach cobbler was stellar. Crust not cake. Just the right amount peaches to crust. They could have allowed it to brown a little bit. Stop carrying the chocolate cake. It doesn't taste like anything. Like someone added chocolate powder to a recipe without adding the coffee that brings out the rich flavor.
Angelia is awesome! I complained that the etoufee is gross. It tastes just like the type of gravy typically used for smothered pork chops. Angelia was super nice and made everything right! She let me exchange it for something else. The greens are really good. The fish is really good and the black bean burger and fries are also really good. If you stop by, you can definitely order one of these and its pretty good!
I stumbled on this spot while walking around downtown looking for something good to eat. It’s a little hole-in-the-wall, easy to miss—but man, I’m glad I took a chance on it, especially on a Tuesday. That’s when they serve this spaghetti made with sausage and boudin that has just the right amount of kick. It comes with hot wings and a piece of garlic butter toast that’s basically soaking in butter and flavor—in the best way. Seriously, the bread melts in your mouth. The spaghetti was loaded with flavor, and now it’s something I look forward to every Tuesday. I’m not even kidding. The wings? Crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and just the right heat. Honestly, it’s one of those combos where you can’t decide what’s better—the wings or the spaghetti—so you just get both. They’ve got a ton of variety too. Daily specials, desserts, all kinds of good stuff on rotation. But real talk: you will wait a bit. They make everything fresh, and it’s always busy. So give yourself at least 15 minutes—but it’s worth every second. They’ve got about seven tables inside, usually packed, but there’s some outdoor seating if you don’t mind a little humidity. I didn’t check for a restroom (wasn’t really looking), and parking out front is basically non-existent. I walk there from my building, so not sure about the back. What really makes this place stand out though—besides the food—is the people. The folks behind the counter are friendly and work their tails off. You can tell they care. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and give this spot a shot. These small places with big flavors? They’re the ones worth supporting Deliciously Toxic Foodie

We really wanted to like this place. The first time we got it, it was on point. The second time, the Cajun pasta lacked flavor :/ Don’t like inconsistency in restaurants, especially when you’re craving a certain dish. The beignets were SO good and fluffy. Unfortunately, they were packed underneath the pasta (to-go order), so a bunch of cheese leaked onto them meaning we could only fully enjoy a couple out of the whole order as more than half got soggy at the bottom and tasted like Cajun pasta. Lol.
I've been meaning to review this spot but I never have my phone with me while I'm working. Finally got the chance to take some pics. I've had a few different items and they've been pretty good. I raved about their mac and cheese being so good to everyone at work and now they go and switch it up. I went yesterday and it was horrible. I also had the cabbage and greens before both are good, the potato salad was too mustardy for me. I've had the boudain balls, hit and miss sometimes. Today I ordered what was suppose to be a 8 piece wing and two sides turned out to be a six piece instead! I was pissed because I was already back at work, I looked inside the container at the restaurant to make sure it was lemon pepper but I didn't think I needed to count the wings...next time I will know better! Oh yeah, the lemon pepper seasoning is delicious! I attached pics of the good Mac and cheese and also the new nasty Mac. With a little more consistency with the food and more order accuracy this place with be great! Also the prices are not bad. Forgot mention the breakfast...it was the best grits from a restaurant I've ever had! I had the pork chops and the bacon both were perfect. I didn't like the pancakes they were on the thick side, and the scrammbled eggs were great. Bacon cheeseburgers are huge and made with homemade beef type patties.
This is downtown so parking is limited and there WILL be homeless people. The service was accommodating because it was quite slow, they had several large orders. The food was good, loved the gravy with the oxtails and rice. The jambalaya was delicious also. The barbecue plate came smothered in barbecue sauce which I don't like but that was my fault I should've told them I didn't want that. But I will come back for something different.
Stopped by Little New Orleans in downtown Houston to try something different. It was alright overall not bad, but not something l'd rush back for. I ordered the hot sausage breakfast sandwich, and it was just okay. The sausage itself didn't have that bold, satisfying flavor I was hoping for; kind of flat. The bread was toasted well, which I appreciated, but the sandwich as a whole just lacked that "it" factor to make it memorable. I also had the gumbo, and the flavor was definitely a step up! seasoned well with that signature Louisiana kick. It had a nice spice and richness to it. But for the price, the portion was small, and it barely had any rice, which made it feel more like a sampler than a full meal. Honestly, they could have been a little more generous with adding more food but it reminded me of something off the kids' menu. Not to mention the one crab leg I received was black on the inside when I bit into it. Definitely wasn't expecting that. Service was decent, nothing standout but quick enough. The ambience is very basic, more of a grab-and-go or quick lunch type of place than somewhere you'd sit and linger. In short, the food had some solid flavors, but the experience lacked consistency. The sandwich didn't impress, and the gumbo, while tasty, didn't deliver enough value for the price. If I'm nearby, I might swing by again to try something else, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Little New Orleans, located in the Binz Building at 1001 Texas Ave, but on the Main Street side, between Texas Ave. and Prairie St., happens to be a Cajun Restaurant, serving up a great variety of Po'Boys and Cajun Entrees. Being my first time there, I needed to sit down and look over their large menu. While I was reviewing their menu, the restaurant was quite busy with various delivery drivers waiting on their orders. Evidently, there was confusion as to, who's order is who's. On top of that, there seemed to be an issue on people receiving wrong orders as they were making the delivery drivers check their customers orders. This should have raised Red Flags to me. So I approached the counter and began to place my order. I decided on: 1 x Pepper Jack Boudin Eggrolls (3 pc) $5.99 1 x Bourbon Street Pasta ~ consisting of Chicken, Shrimp, Sausage, Crawfish, and Penne Pasta, served with Garlic Bread. $13.99 1 x Smothered Cabbage $3.99 1 x Peach Cobbler $5.99 2 x 16 oz Bottles of Soda (2 X $2.50 ea.) $5.00 Now then, I did have trouble listening to the cashier repeating my order. Again, all the noise from the confusion on those delivery orders. Their payment system is that, you pay after you order. It's one of those systems that also asked up front for a tip. I went ahead and applied a 20% tip. I did have to ask for a receipt. I was then asked if I wanted my Sodas now or with my order. I decided to take them now because, I wasn't sure how long it would take to prepare my order. While I was waiting, there was some confusion as to my order. I was asked what appetizer I had ordered. I told them, the Pepper Jack Boudin Eggrolls. The gentleman behind the counter said that, that is what he had heard me tell the cashier. Finally, my food arrived, but I was told that they were still preparing my appetizer. Now then, the Bourbon Street Pasta, the sauce was delicious and creamy. The Shrimp was tough, the Chicken and Sausage were dry and the Crawfish, chewy. As for my side item, the Smothered Cabbage, when I was ordering it, I asked; what's it smothered with? All my years living in Louisiana, smothered always meant covered in some type of Gravy. Here though, I was told that it was Seasonings cooked down till the Cabbage browns. Basically, boiled seasoned Cabbage, cooked down to the point of reducing the water, leaving just some juice. Overall, not bad, as far as boiled Cabbage goes. As I finished my Cabbage, my Pepper Jack Boudin Eggrolls arrived. Upon opening the container, I noticed that it came with a sauce. The sauce turned out to be the same sauce as what was mixed in my pasta dish. After I bit into the Eggroll, I noticed something pink, as well as it tasting off. I decided to peel the Wanton Wrapper off, only to realize that they still messed up my order on the appetizer. Instead of the Pepper Jack Boudin Eggroll, I received the Crawfish Boudin Eggrolls. Not what I ordered, and nor did I care for it. I had my mouth set for that Pepper Jack Cheese mixed in the Boudin. I was very disappointed. As for the Peach Cobbler, that at least was good. Basic, but good. As a Cajun Restaurant, it's nothing special. As for service, I couldn't even provide a single star. Between messing up my order, those delivery drivers orders and the cashier not paying any attention to her ordering. Not to mention, her being more focused on getting off and what she planned on doing, and what game was on, etc. I can understand why everything was in total chaos. Atmosphere? Really... Tight, Cramp, and Crazy. As for the restrooms, you have to go out the back door and into the Binz Building lobby to use their restroom. Final Note: my order (subtotal) was $38.96. As I thought about it, I was wondering why my grand total was $50.60? Two reasons... 1) That appetizer I ordered, the Pepper Jack Boudin Eggroll for $5.99, I was actually charged for the Hot Chitto Boudin Ball for $9.99. and 2) the 20% tip , instead of being added to the Subtotal of $38.96, it was added against the grand total (with Tax) of $42.17. So needless to say, I was overcharged and wronged.
Was at a bar a block away and ordered take out. Got the chicken and sausage pasta. Relatively small portion. Came with garlic bread that wasn't wrapped in paper so it was soggy. Flavor was ok at best. May have been 4-5 tiny sausage pieces in there. Super underwhelming. Don't buy this dish of you're hungry because you'll still be hungry when you're finished.
Placed an order on Uber Eats for fish and grits. As advertised, the meal should come with 2 pieces of fish. When my order arrived, there was only 1 piece. Called the restaurant and was informed that one piece of fish is considered 2 because they normally break it in half. This is dishonest and deceptive. The order also took forever to make and the kitchen did not provide condiments as requested. I was hesitant about placing an order because of past reviews. I wanted to give them a chance. But unfortunately they confirmed that the negative reviews are in fact true. Won’t be ordering from this place again. Integrity, professionalism and attention to detail in business matter.
I popped in on a Tuesday because I was in the area. It was pretty empty all the staff were seated watching the news. It wasn’t very welcoming, so I didn’t do a video on them I did take a few photos. The fish was overcooked and under seasoned the pasta tasted like macaroni just velvetta and seasoning The food is made to order and they are actually from Nola, but I wouldn’t come back because nothing stands out about it and it’s in the middle of downtown so it’s a lot of traffic. I just took my order to go. Portions are small and outside of taking my order and when I walked in no one spoke to me they conversed about 3 oxtails only and a sports car repair . I love yaka mein and not too many people make it in Texas but baby I love mine with loveeeee and comfort . I love an experience and this lacked hard

I was really looking forward to this spot, but unfortunately my experience was disappointing. I ordered the gumbo, and it was far too salty—honestly, I’ve never had anything that salty before. The rice was undercooked and clumpy. I didn’t notice the issues until I got home, and since I don’t live nearby, returning the food wasn’t an option. In addition to the food, the service was lacking. The young lady at the front seemed overwhelmed by the phone ringing and had an unpleasant attitude. She was short with customers and spoke poorly to the kitchen staff in front of others. I’m sharing this review not to discourage people from trying the restaurant—you might have a better experience—but to let the management know about my experience in hopes that it can help them improve.
I was excited to try something from New Orleans while visiting Houston and to say I was disappointed is a gross understatement. I bought the chicken & sausage jambalaya and the portion was like a kids meal. The employees were yelling at each other over a broken equipment and the store owner (I suspect that’s who he was) came in and was no better. I kept looking around to see if I was being filmed on an episode of kitchen nightmares or something. Finally, I got my food to go and after tasting the food, I was glad the portion was so small because it was the worst meal I have ever had! It tasted like canned/box jambalaya. Thankfully I got a shawarma from the store next door, so I ended up having that for dinner instead. From the other reviews, it seems like breakfast would have been a better choice.
