Nice relaxed atmosphere. Food has a smokehouse flavour. Dishes good for sharing. For 2 we shared Brussell sprouts, charred broccoli, rice noodles and corn fritters, all full of flavour. Plenty of seating options, inside, covered outside and open outside. Good service and value for money. Good selection of drinks both alcoholic or non alcoholic.
Great BBQ!! The pork katsu sandwich was a little bland but the BBQ was phenomenal. Also, the $2 yuzu sodas are fabulous
We had a great time here for dinner and I would describe the overall vibe as laid back and welcoming with both indoor and outdoor seating. For appetizers, the chicken karaage and crunchy corn fritters were both flavorful with just the perfect crunch. The brisket ramen was delicious with a generous serving of ramen, which I appreciated. Special shout out to the staff for the outstanding service and recommendations.
a restaurant outdoor and indoor tables to eat fastly, installation modern, clean, toilets well maintenance, staff polite and fast service. people with disabilities or wheelchair facilities, baby stool too. Loro is a highly popular Asian smokehouse high-vibe, casual fusion spot, a unique mashup of Texas BBQ smoke and Southeast Asian acidity/spice to taste. This restaurant is a highly popular Asian smokehouse in Houston, a casual fusion spot, dog-friendly patio, great for groups, you have to order at the bar/counter, take a number, and food is brought to your table. The menu is a unique mashup of Texas BBQ smoke and Southeast Asian acidity/spice.Must-Try Dishes: The Loro Cheeseburger and the Oak Smoked Beef Brisket, served with Thai herbs. The Chicken Crispy & Potatoes my favorites dishes for their texture and bold seasoning. Most plates: rice bowls and sandwiches range in average price. Larger meat plates for brisket or ribs with typically larger meat plates, moderate price. A typical signature of the Chef to visit.
I recently visited Loro Houston, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! The space itself is open, modern, and welcoming — a perfect mix of Texas barbecue charm and Asian-inspired flair. I ordered the sampler and the Thai ribs, and both dishes were outstanding. The sampler was a great way to try a bit of everything — every bite was full of flavor, tender, and perfectly seasoned. You can really taste the creativity behind the menu, blending smoky barbecue with Southeast Asian spices.
This is Asian/BBQ fusion with a focus on unique takes. Yuzu added to aioli, miso salted caramel cupcakes (which were limited time but they should be a staple), and karaage chicken were huge standouts. Spicy pickles were such a great addition to the platter. The pulled pork was good but almost too shredded. The brisket was tender and moist but the lean was a bit dry. Luckily the sauces were great. Still a 5 star and high recommendation. Only strange part is that you have to order at the bar, there is no waiter/waitress for food orders.
I LOVE this restaurant. They have so many unique and delicious things on their menu, it’s always hard to pick what to order. The building itself is beautiful and it’s got a really cool vibe inside. You sit anywhere and order from their counter whenever you want, then they bring the food to you as soon as each dish is ready. It’s usually pretty quick. The portions are not very large, but you end up wanting to order a variety of things anyways so you can try multiple dishes. Definitely not the cheapest place to eat, but the food is really good so I feel like it’s worth it. Great place to bring friends!
The place looks so simple yet aesthetically pleasing. We went there during spring and the weather was perfect to be seated outside. They also have these fans that spray mist to make it cooler during summer or hot days. It’s perfect to be here during golden hours because the place looks so golden, which illuminates the wooden walls and accents. The ceiling is also high so it makes it very spacious. The food was good, it was truly a fusion of Asian and American cuisine. The price was also okay and affordable. The ordering was like in a fast food where you go to the cashier and order and pay, but they serve you your food on your table. Not a negative thing, but that was something different. Overall, it was a good experience.
I’ve been to Loro in the heights twice. Wings are so good. Especially the Thai flavor. I wish there were more utensils at the drink station and better parking stalls. They are so narrow at both parking lots.
A must-visit spot in the Heights! Loro is a fantastic fusion of Asian flavors and Texas-style smoked meats. The vibe is laid-back yet stylish, with a spacious patio perfect for groups or a casual date night. Definitely recommend the wonton chips and the dip, smoked chicken sandwich, Malaysian chicken curry rice bowl. Every dish was packed with bold, unique flavors. Cocktails were creative and well-balanced. Service was quick and friendly, and the team really knows the menu. Parking is easy enough, and the whole place just has a cool, easy energy.
The food quality was good, but the portions were smaller than expected. Unfortunately, the service model really took away from the experience. We ended up sitting at the bar since there were no floor or wait staff in sight. If you’re dining in, you have to order food and drinks at the bar and tip upfront. You also have to get your own drinks, refills, and silverware from a separate area after ordering. The staff only brings the food to the table or bar and never checks back. Our bartender, Lanay, was nice, but she spent a lot of time chatting with coworkers and doing closing duties at the opposite end of the bar. Overall, the food was good, but the service model and smaller portions were disappointing.
Such a cool spot to grab a drink and enjoy brunch with your friends. Ambience is on point (there was plenty of seating) cocktails are refreshing and the counter service is convenient. We ordered a few appetizers to share and they were decent. My fave apps were the smoked cheese dip (with a pinch of brisket) and the corn fritters- both are pretty tasty. (Note: The smoked salmon dip is served cold) The food looked amazing when it came out, but taste-wise was slightly disappointing. Pork belly was served room-temp, but was delicious. The coconut rice was warm and fluffy, but the sesame noodles are amazing! Highly recommend you order that. The corn was lacking in flavor and not worth it to me. But overall, I would love to go back and taste more of their menu items like the sandwiches, rice bowls or BBQ.
Modern atmosphere looks very inviting and aesthetically pleasing, the food was well seasoned, but nothing mind blowing. The food is overpriced, there’s a huge lack of value, kind of expected for the area though. The portions are tiny almost like small plates style. $9 broccolini in a tiny saucer, $20 brisket which contained 4 slivers of fatty brisket, $20 ribs which contained 3 tiny pork ribs, and $10 queso also in a tiny saucer. Had to return the brisket as it was just pitiful looking, the fat ratio on the tiny brisket portion they offered was not worth it at all. Was told they have a lean brisket option, didn’t know that was an option. Overall, the food was decent, the service was good, but they don’t tickle my fancy.
2.5?-3⭐️The cashier was very accommodating regarding my gluten allergy. However, (except obviously the noodle bowls): all of our food was lacking some flavor, delivered cold, and delivered to the tables at different times. The food gets sent out as it’s made, servers don’t have trays so they walk around confused. Overall, the restaurant has good vibes but needs better systems.
I’ve been dying to try Lora Asian Smokehouse for months, so walking in, my expectations were high… unfortunately, the experience fell flat. 😞 First issue: the ordering process. The line was LONG, the cashiers moved so slowly, and they didn’t seem very knowledgeable about the menu. For a place set up as completely self-service—yes, you get your own silverware, water, etc.—you’d think the front end would be more efficient. Nope. ⏳🙄 Food experience: • Corn Fritters: These were not corn fritters. They were flavorless hush puppies. No sweetness and no seasoning… just a bland ball of fried dough. 😐🫤 • Ribs: The ribs were the only highlight. The smokiness was on point, and the BBQ sauce was fantastic. ✅🔥 But they came out cold, which instantly ruined what could have been an amazing dish. • Broccoli: This came out last—after I had finished eating. And let me tell you, I’ve had broccoli prepared a thousand ways, but lemon zest on broccoli? Absolutely not. 🤢🍋🥦 Lemon and broccoli do not go together. Please remove this from the recipe. Overall, between the slow service, the self-serve setup, and the disappointing food (aside from the flavor of the ribs), I have to give Lora Asian Smokehouse 2 stars. Definitely not worth the hype. 😬👎
