Great spot to come too and get some good food, great vibes, most importantly great service! I been coming to them since the first location and the food as always been great. Weekends it’s always packed for good reason but don’t be surprised if you have a long wait lol me and my wife like to come on weekdays less people and get seated quicker but most defiantly one of the best spots to come to in Houston!!!

Good vibes. Good food. Definitely recommend. I ordered the taste of soul but subbed for oxtails. 100% worth the up charge. For my sides I got Mac n cheese and yams. Ordered an additional side of grits. Everything was absolutely delicious !! The only thing I was not 100% sold on was the yams being a tad too sweet. But still recommend.

The overall experience was nice. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The gentleman that brought our appetizers to the table just sat them down and walked away. Although we said thank you, we were not acknowledged by him. The overall meals were great. One minor issue was that the loaded fries were kinda soggy, but still edible. Despite the two minor things...I suggest a visit to this spot. Please be sure to try the mac and cheese, wings, and waffles. Oh yeah and be sure to order a strawberry lemonade. We will definitely be going back!

It’s the kind of place that works just as well for a laid-back meal as it does for a night out. I ordered the Taste of Soul, and it was outstanding. Every component was cooked with care and flavor-forward intention—the kind of comfort food that feels both indulgent and well-executed. Rich, satisfying, and unapologetically soulful. You can tell this kitchen takes pride in what hits the plate. Between the excellent food, the inviting space, and the overall vibe, this spot easily earns a return visit. Taste Bar and Kitchen is doing it right, and I’ll definitely be back.

Taste Bar + Kitchen really said, “Come hungry, leave questioning your life choices.” First of all, AARON. Sir… How are you fine and excellent at your job?? Pick a struggle. He put us on to the gumbo which was phenomenal — like “whoever made this needs a raise and a trophy” phenomenal. The wings (buffalo + lemon pepper) were the kind of good that make you look around to see if anyone else is having the same religious experience. Then… the drinks. Aaron had us trying different cocktails samples like he was leading a tasting flight at a VIP event. We didn’t just order — he curated. Lowkey I considered relocating to Houston because of this meal. Then the heat said, “Girl, don’t even play with me.” So the dream died quick. But seriously — amazing service, fire food, and Aaron deserves all the praise. 5 stars. Kay approved. 🔥🍹🍗

Went for breakfast last minute while we were in town and I wish we would’ve found it sooner. The oxtail was incredible. So tender and flavorful. My wife loved the catfish and shrimp. It was so good neither of us wanted to share.

The food here was top tier. I had the catfish with greens, yams & mashed potatoes with the cornbread waffle. Everything was on point, but the mashed potatoes could have been more garlic or buttery, but that’s a personal preference and the gravy made up for it. The catfish pieces were huge I basically ended up with a to-go box with another meal. The yams were perfectly sweetened. Our server was amazing, I can remember her name but she was from New Orleans and she definitely showed our party the southern hospitality. The overall vibe of the establishment was nice, the DJ was on point with the music selection. It felt more like a lounge than a restaurant and I enjoyed it. Definitely recommend a stop by before you club hop downtown.

I visited Taste Restaurant in Houston today, and from the moment I walked in, I was warmly welcomed. Kevin, our server, was outstanding! He took the time to explain the menu in detail and even let us sample a drink we were interested in. He made recommendations which I loved! I ordered the lamb, and the chef seasoned it to absolute perfection everything came out hot and fresh. It was also my friend’s birthday, and Kevin went above and beyond to make it special with a sparkler and cake all at 11 a.m.! As a Floridian visiting Houston for Texans game, this was truly one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had here. Highly recommend!

I wanted to share what an absolutely amazing experience we had at Taste Bar + Kitchen. The overall atmosphere is great, but the hospitality we received during our visit was truly exceptional—one of the best I have encountered. Our waitress, Akila, was top-tier. She was extremely helpful when we couldn't decide what to order, and we were truly grateful for her excellent service throughout the afternoon. Everything we tasted was great, and we will definitely be coming back again soon. If someone is looking for a place that offers top hospitality, a clean environment, great music, and exceptional food and service, this restaurant is a must-visit. Thank you for providing such a wonderful dining experience.

My husband and I recently visited Texas for the first time and we spent our last night in downtown Houston. After checking in to our hotel, we spent some time walking around the area and eventually came across Taste Kitchen and Bar, so decided to give it a try and am I ever glad we did! The atmosphere of the restaurant was great and the service and food were amazing! The ladies at the front were very friendly and greeted us immediately! Once seated, CJ was assigned as our server. He was very attentive and did a wonderful job helping us navigate the menu and made some excellent recommendations. We tried waffles and chicken for the first time and were not disappointed! Our meals were delicious and we highly recommend this restaurant for their food and service.

We made no reservations so the wait was less than 20 minutes. Our server Danielle was very attentive and nice. I ordered blackened fish. Collard greens and yams…. The happy hour lamb chops was $3. Everything was DELICIOUS! The manager Jimmy kept coming to the table making sure we were okay. We requested the chef to come over to the table and Chef G came over after a few minutes and was very pleasant. The overall experience was 100!!! Will definitely be back.

Looking for soul food in Houston, Texas, this is the spot. The Red line train in downtown Houston has a stop in front of this restaurant. I'm from Miami so I know a good vibe when I see one, and this restaurant has that. The ambiance, location, DJ selection of music all make this place is good vibe. I ordered fried chicken, cornbread waffle, candy yams, and collard greens with a watermelon margarita. It was all delicious. Seating upstairs has great views to the city. Great staff. Very welcoming.

We made reservations which seems to be recommended. There were a few people waiting on a Monday night. This is a soul food restaurant. The seasoning of my dinner was exceptional. I got the shrimp and grits with a side of creamed corn. The grits were a tad spicy, but paired well with the corn. My husband said the creamed corn was the best he has ever tasted. He had an excellent fried catfish. Cons- my grits were lukewarm. Service was not great. We sat at the top of the restaurant and it took us 45 minutes to get the drinks we ordered. After dinner we waited an additional 45 minutes for the to go dessert and check.

First time in Houston and we heard great things about this spot. The atmosphere was nice and cozy and the menu had plenty of options so come hungry ! The food was 1000/10 the lamb chops were so juicy and flavorful as well as the catfish and grits! The server we had was constantly distracted and did not check on us so unfortunately that was the downside. If they were more attentive this would easily be the #1 brunch spot H-Town!

I really enjoyed my visit to Taste Kitchen & Bar. The food was flavorful, the drinks were well-made, and the service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is lively and stylish, which makes it a great spot for a night out. The only downside was the noise level—it was a bit louder than expected, which made conversation a little challenging at times. A deposit is also required for reservations. Still, overall it was a great experience, and I’d definitely come back!

Today our server Jeffery offered hands down the best customer service you could ever want. He was very informative of the menu. He also had a great sense of humor and was very attentive. We ordered the Cajun chicken with waffles and the waffles had a crispy exterior and a soft inside served with warm maple syrup. The Cajun chicken was excellent crispy juicy chicken. Not overly seasoned just the right amount for me as a person who cant have much salt. Perfect crunch and juicy succulent meat. The ambience was very nice cant wait to visit again and try other menu items. This was my first time here and there will definitely be more visits to come.

Shoutout to Aaron for servicing our table Saturday morning! He was prompt, attentive and patient with our varies requests! We arrived for our 11:45am reservation. We booked a reservation via open table which required a $50 deposit per person. That deposit was applied to ticket at the end of the meal. Please know that you cannot get a refund if you spend less than $50 pretax. The 2-story restaurant is located in downtown Houston. Parking options include paid parking garage or open lot across the street. The restaurant was semi spacious and inviting with lots of natural light. We were seated upstairs with window views overlooking Main Street. We ordered fish and grits, chicken & waffles, taste burger, fried okra, and taste wings. All were delicious! We also ordered the deep fried bread pudding which was decent, but fried way too hard. I feel as if frying it is a bit unnecessary and overpowers the flavor. Overall it was a really good experience!

My husband brought me here for date night. We had reservations but still waited around 10-15 minutes to be seated. Ok fine. We ordered our drinks and the waiter came back with waters very quickly. We ordered an appetizer and another drink and the appetizer came back without our drink. Our waiter disappeared for about 20 minutes and came back to say they were having a shift change and we would have another waiter, still forgetting our lemons and drink. We had no waiter for another 20 minutes until we bothered the other waiter for help who finally brought our drink and lemons. Another manager came out while the young lady was speaking with us and apologized as the two tables on both sides were eating and one made it 15 minutes after we sat and the other one about 30 minutes. After explaining everything the manager apologized and comped our bill and packed us our meal to go as we had to be at another engagement by a certain time. Rodney and the other manager were very polite and you can tell they felt bad about the miscommunication between the waitstaff. Thank both of you guys. Also, The appetizer cauliflower was actually good we had Nashville hot with ranch. I’ll update once I eat my food. Ok so I had oxtails (I ate as we drove off super flavorful) unfortunately my food wasn’t hot so I will have to save that for later. The yams were extremely sweet but they weren’t bad. My greens, I didn’t like them they were sweet so I would have preferred savory over sweet, they were cooked well but super sweet. My husband unable to eat before out next engagement unfortunately he will have to eat every thing later.
