Had a two course lunch deal. It was deliciousssss! Fish of the day, then sticky toffee pudding. Both perfect, I want some more now 🤤! And the garden on a sunny day is lovely. In a lovely area too. Hope to come again!

Lovely Christmas meal here! The pod was absolutely brilliant, it was a perfect size, had its own heater and we streamed our Christmas songs through the radio inside. The food was delicious, we all loved our meals, couldn't fault anything. We had the duck parcels, terrine, soup, Roast Turkey and Pork belly for mains and a great selection of deserts. Ollie who looked after us was very attentive and a credit to the team here. We are very much looking forward to having our Christmas meal here again next Christmas!

We went on a cold and snowy Wednesday lunchtime. Consequently the pub was fairly quiet but warm and welcoming, with an open fire. The staff were friendly and familiar with the menu. I had chestnut arancini, celeriac schnitzel and Aogato An enjoyable meal; I'd like to got there again - possibly on a warmer sunnier day

We booked a pod last minute as something a little different for my daughter's 6th birthday (lucky her!) The service I will say was brilliant considering ew were outside on a cold night, the staff were attentive and warm The pub had just launched a new menu and had some nice specials. I had the baked egg which was delicious, i just wish the yolk was still runny would be my only thing, but it was seasoned perfectly, for my main course I had Thai Mussels which was on the specials board and were absolutely perfect. huge plump, fresh mussels and a fragrant perfectly seasoned sauce, with delicious fresh bread and crunch fries to accompany. My husband had Lamb Scrumpet, which he liked but thinks it would have been better if the lamb was not smoked, but we feel this is personal opinion, he had a Beef Pie for his main which was a good portion and well cooked, he said. The children both had hummus and crudités to start and my son had a chicken burger and fries, I think peas is a strange add to this and as aa strapping 10 year old, was probably aimed at a much younger child, but he largely enjoyed it, he helped me with my very generous portion of mussels though. My draught had a generous portion of tomato pasta with garlic bread, it as nice but not notable if that makes sense. Perhaps the children's menu could be slightly better would be my observation or have a little more attention. We had a side of black pudding croquettes which were OK, they sounded amazing but were just OK, too much potato and not enough black pudding which meant they didn't hold firm - it as the first night so perhaps they will get tweaked. Still giving the food five stars as it was all fresh and had the right idea! We didn't have pudding as we had birthday cake waiting at home, but they did look delicious on the menu. There was a good selection of beer and reasonable selection of wine to accompany the lovely menu All in all a lovely experience, I would recommend and would love to also experience the pub itself next time (we hadn't been in years), the dome was a lovely thing to do in this instance, as something different for the children but the warm and cost pub also felt very inviting! the pods are fab for a celebration or something a little different but you obviously miss out on the atmosphere. See you soon!

We had Sunday roast there. I would say this is really high standards roast I had. The meat is so tender and the homemade sauce is amazing.

First initial experience of this eatery, as my friend and I had gone to swim in the lake nearby. What an experience. The duck parcel was excellent. The coley was excellent. Only thing, a little salt wouldn’t go amiss. It needed it. The potatoes ( I think dauphinois ) was divine. The crunch from the nuts was a nice touch and the sauce was great. Again, seasoning. Now. Desert. Sticky toffee. What can I say; it was delish. A great experience overall. Compliments to the chefs and the team at front of house. Great going. Keep those standards as they are. Thanks again

Excellent date night experience all around! We arrived a touch past our reservation time, but the staff was gracious and seated us immediately. Very friendly, with the perfect level of attentiveness, not hovering (like is typical in the US, but not ignored either. For starters,we tried the Duck Parcel (AMAZING!) and the Pigeon Breast (also Amazing!) Then moved on to the Main Entrees. I had the Pork Belly, while my wife had the Sea Bass. DELICIOUS! We finished the meal off with a Bailey's Creme Brulee and a Roasted Vanilla Cheesecake. The Creme Brulee was my wife's first, and she loved it. The Cheesecake was excellent as well. All in all, a perfect evening, in a cozy, friendly atmosphere, with great service and food. Highly recommended, and can't wait to go back!

Would highly recommend. My husband booked a table for my birthday. The food was so tasty and well presented. I had the soup of the day which was parsnip, coconut and ginger. The best soup I have ever had. Then I had the pie of the day which was venison. It was delicious. The staff were all so friendly. Claire was lovely, very friendly and very attentive. Thank you so much. We will definitely be returning.

Fantastic dining pod, the best I've been to. Ben was very accomodating, pleasant and helpful. Kids loved the food. Booking through the website showed some of the times as unavailable but call up if your preferred time isn't showing as there seemed to be some issue with the booking system. Great place and lovely staff.

A very nice pub offering excellent food. The dining area is cosy with a nice atmosphere. The staff were very friendly, providing good service. The prices are reasonable. There is space for dining outside, in the back garden. There are also a few pods at the rear garden for those who prefer to have a more private area for dining. Overall a great place.

Fantastic gem of a find this was. Working away from home, had a long day, me and the dog wanted a good bit of grub and a friendly abode. We were not disappointed with either. The two members of staff that served me were lovely friendly and very kind to my dog. The food was quite pricey but absolutely delicious and worth every penny. Finally, a chef that knows where the salt pot is!

A fabulous high end gastro dining pub that's now opened two dining pods. As this was a birthday treat I was lucky enough to secure one for our dining experience. Inside they are heated probably seat up to 8 and have bluetooth speakers to stream your own music and a service button to get the waiter. Absolutely fabulous, from the pod to the food to the service. A really brilliant place to eat out!!

Brilliant! There are a couple of vegan options (two starters and one main) on their (temporarily) reduced menu. I had the nut roast which was amazing and I absoulutely recommend, but next time I would love to make a meal out of the sides to try them out too. The garden was lovely and felt very covid friendly and the staff were very nice. I can't wait to come back again soon!

We love the The Cock special events throughout the year, including curry nights, steak nights, game nights, vegan nights and more recently a really entertaining themed murder mystery dinner. Best of all nice food, drink and blackadder played in the toilets, Outdoors we love the garden great for eating out in the summer or the beer festival. stylish dining pods look great but a bit expensive for us.

We've been here a couple of times. Most recently we visited for our 3rd wedding anniversary and booked a pod in the garden. It was brilliant, kept warm, had a Bluetooth speaker for music. Despite us being the only ones in the garden, the staff were still attentive and would check in on a good cadence. Food and wine selection was great on all 3 courses and what we ate was excellent. We had a really nice evening and will be back again.

Our first dining experience in London is the beloved Cock Hemingsford in Hemingsford Grey, England. Everything was wonderful, and I can't wait to visit their adorable pub next door.

Food was superb, loads of choice and a great atmosphere for a lunchtime service. Jolianne is an absolute ray of sunshine; super friendly, attentive and a credit to this place. Will 100% come back.

First time visiting, it was a lovely pub/restaurant with welcomv staff and lovely menu, including a menu for Gluten Intolerance. The food was well presented and fresh. I would say this is really a restaurant primarily with a pub ambience. But I do not think you will be disappointed with a large outdoor area and an ample car park. I would recommend for anyone visiting the area to stop by.

Great food. Only down side was a waitress was stood there watching and the second my cutlery hit the plate she was over to clear the table before I had even finished my mouthful

Lovely lunch. Very helpful and friendly staff and a great environment. The food is inventive and delicious, well beyond the usual pub offerings. Update for April 2025: We had a great time at the fish-oriented tasting menu dinner last night. As always the staff were very friendly and helpful, but this event really showcased the skill and inventiveness of the kitchen staff with 6 delicious, beautifully presented and well-paced dishes. The place was understandably full.

We came for dinner at the start of October. Our server Jodi-Ann was amazing and all staff were very friendly and helpful with my allergy. They were also great with my 2 year old daughter. The food was amazing as always for The Cock! We will be back shortly.

We visited The Cock for a birthday celebration and had a very enjoyable visit overall. The atmosphere was perfect for a larger party, and the staff handled our group of 10 well. The food was fabulous and everyone enjoyed their meal. Most of us went for the Sunday Carvery, which was high quality and very tasty. My only slight critique is that the menu felt a bit "standard"—it would have been great to see some unique "specials" available to add a bit of variety to the traditional options. Price was very reasonable for the quality provided. A solid choice for a classic Sunday roast in a lovely setting. We’ll definitely be back!

A brilliant restaraunt and pub. Absolutely fantastic service, with beautiful atmosphere, and outrageously good food! A place i have come to many times before and will visit many times more. Always the same consistent quality on all fronts!

Very Friendly and welcoming staff. Food was fantastic with good choices. Wine list expensive and limited (no prosecco or Pinot grigio). Dining room got very noisy as it filled up and people had a few drinks.

The food was very good but due to it being a very busy night it took well over an hour to get our starters. It then took a further hour to receive our mains so we arrived at 19.00 and didn't leave until 23.00. I had a crab parcel starter which was very good followed by sausage and mash for mains the only real let down was my cabbage was very undercooked and had only been microwaved I think. I would like to go again and hopefully there will be better times between courses. The staff were really excellent. The pub was very busy with a beer festival and a band as well.

Honest Opinion

Messed our booking up, good job we had the email, otherwise I think they would've told us no tables, in the end we had a drink.in the bar, while they sorted something out. Food high quality but small portions, so we has 3 courses. Expensive but you get what you pay for....

There was a group of 23 of us with pre booked food Service was erratic in getting drinks They did not have enough place settings/chairs setup for us The food was not to the normal high standard The vegan choices of main and starters was very poor I had the mushroom wellington it did not come with the stated Brussel sprouts the ‘braised cabbage’ was an aniseed taste not stated on the menu i would have not ordered it I had not starter i could eat that was vegan and not an aniseed taste In fact as I would only have a choice of vegan dessert i probably would not have bothered at all The dessert was lovely but did not make a nice meal with the other courses Left very disappointed

Went on a Sunday a few weeks ago with family as it's supposed to be one of the best pubs in the region and was highly recommended by friends. We had an early booking so it was quiet when we arrived so the food and drinks came quickly. The staff were amenable but should have made it clear that if only one course is purchased it is charged as two courses. 4/5 of us had the roast rump beef and only 1 liked it. At the prices you pay you'd expect a better quality cut of meat. I had the belly pork which could have done with more cooking as it was so fatty and would have tasted better if it was reduced. The Yorkshire puddings and trimmings were fantastic as were the desserts. The staff gave a discount because the majority of us were unhappy with the meal which was appreciated. I'd probably go back but not for a Sunday roast.
