The best sign of a great place is the food already has been attacked. This is a high quality fusion spot and will go back even at its pricey menu. Great atmosphere and even better to go with a group of friends to eat family style so everyone gets to try something different. Go with 4-6 people. Great drinks and staff. Apparently there's always a line on weekends so go during the week! Worth it 10000%

Another excellent restaurant in Indianapolis serving unique dishes and quality cocktails with an elegant atmosphere! The food is a creative asian-inspired fusion - there are so many good items that it is hard to pick. The cocktails are elegant and delicious, many with beautiful floral flavors. This is a great choice to celebrate something or for a date night! Definitely recommend the pork soup dumplings, robata grill chicken with peanut sauce and ube ice cream.

Amazing Asian fusion restaurant with great ambience and service!!! Can’t miss this place if you are in Bottle Works district, downtown Indy

The food, the service and the atmosphere were phenomenal. Our server and the rest of the staff took great care of us through the whole experience. It was her first time coming in but it felt like we were family friends. They also were very on-point when suggesting drinks to pair with our food order. The food had a decent amount of spice and fantastic flavor and texture all through. Finally, the mochi passion fruit ice cream was crazy good, and vegan!

Excellent food. Had the Bao Buns, Ora King Salmon, and Mongolian Beef. All were outstanding.

A little pricey but it’s really good! They have tons of vegan/vegetarian options. The service is good and the location is super nice. Right in the heart of bottle works! I got the tofu curry without the shrimp and it was so good! Also fried rice on the side. I had enough for leftovers. The samosas were ok, I probably wouldn’t order them again.

I loved their vegetarian options❤️. We frequent the CRG restaurants and now we’ve added this one to the list. The food was delicious and we loved the unique selection of cocktails they had to offer. The manager was extremely helpful with helping us navigate to our car more quickly on a very rainy evening.

Food was phenomenal. I tried their Bao Buns & their Short Rib. The meat for both was super tender & full of flavor. The atmosphere was great! They had their side-door open and so there was the perfect mix of outdoor & indoor. Amazing location too - just a stone’s throw away from The Garage. Our waiter seemed a little uneasy but he just might have been having a bad day.

Today we visited Modita to celebrate our anniversary. We were immediately sat and greeted by our server Evan. Evan did a brief detailed description of the menu and brought out our food in a fast timely matter, his acts of service were spot on. One thing I quickly noticed was how exquisite the service was, not only from our server Evan but the rest of the staff. Our table was approached by 3 different servers that helped fill our water and clear our tables. Evan was a kind generous man and he highlighted our evening. For starters we got the Salmon Nigiri and Crab Rangoons. The Salmon Nigiri was a simple high quality dish that prepared the flavor palette for the food that was to come. I can say the same thing for the Crab Rangoons, it was a fresh high quality dish that came out hot and ready and was paired with a sweet and spicy sambal sauce. For our entrees I ordered the Wagyu Skirt Steak and my significant other ordered the Shrimp Tamarind noodles. The Wagyu Skirt Steak was remarkable. The steak was cooked perfectly throughout and was tender and flavorful. The steak alone was high quality and had no fats. My partners Shrimp Tamarind noodles were flavorful and the ingredients in the dish paired perfectly with eachother. He also noted that the shrimp was one of the best he’d had in his life. Finally for dessert we got the Chefs Seasonal Choice which was chai ice cream. I’m a HUGE FAN of chai and I can tell this was pure chai not artificial. The presentation was lacking but the taste was there. Salmon Nigiri: 10/10 Crab Rangoons: 8/10 Shrimp Tamarind Noodles: 9/10 Wagyu Skirt Steak: 10/10 Chefs Seasonal Choice: 6/10

This is a great place to relax and have conversations. From dim sum and sushi to full meals (including steaks) there is something for everyone. Dishes are fabulously presented and taste as great as they look. Prices have a wide range so there are meals for every budget. I suggest making reservations in advance for this popular culinary experience.

My first time to Modita & experience was nothing less than perfect! Great location , ambience of this place was fantastic and felt nice! Our server Evan was sweet, friendly & alert! For appetizers we ordered Ginger Miso Salad, Lumpia Egg rolls, Pork Soup dumplings! Main course was Chicken Tandoori, Mapo Tofu, Chicken Yakishoba & sweet potato ice cream! Everything was delicious! We spent about $120 for 3 of us with dessert.

Great night at Modita celebrating an Anniversary. The Shrimp Toast was delicious (see photo after two pieces had already disappeared!) The food was great, the staff was kind and attentive. (Thanks, Chelsie!) We will definitely be back!

First time and it was Delicious!! Our waiter Jordan was very knowledgeable and pleasant .. he’s awesome! Bao Buns and Obe (ice cream) were my favs!! Pork belly was seasoned and glazed nicely with the slaw. That Obe with pieces of heath on top yum!! ! Dumplings and spring rolls were pretty good too. Oh I also had cocktail with gin, lemonade , pineapple and dash of white pepper I believe it’s called “Yang”. The white pepper Added a little kick but good! Sign me up I’ll come be back!

The wife and I ended up at Modita tonight. Their entryway concrete is shaped like fish scales, so you know we were in for a good time! We got the bao buns (of course), the tuna uramaki roll, and the tofu shrimp green coconut curry. For dessert we feasted on the yuzu bar - so good!

We had absolutely amazing service and the food was delicious. The hostesses were welcoming and our waiter was so friendly and helpful, and made the best recommendations. Our cocktails and all food were exquisite and I plan to return.

From the appearance of the outside to the pleasant relaxing dining areas, Modita was all round the best higher class fooding we have dome since we started the guides. From the starter/appetizers to our main dish, the dim sum selection is fabulous. Best dinner so far. Our waiter "Charles" was on point.

Excellent food and an amazing overall experience. The service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere was beautiful. The Pho Soup Dumplings were absolutely divine, annd the Yuzu Bar was definitely the best dessert! We also tried the Mongolian Beef Noodles and the Kalbi-style Beef Short Rib, both full of flavor and perfectly prepared. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic service Sat at the bar for cocktails and appetizers with a minimal wait especially for a Saturday night. Really quick and efficient for how busy they were and the staff was very cognizant of helping to expedite food orders if needed. The Salmon sushi roll was fishy so we didn’t finish it, but in the staff’s defense we didn’t tell them. The pork belly bao buns are phenomenal and the option to add a piece to the standard is convenient. Fantastic Cunningham restaurant with fantastic flavors and craft cocktails. Will go back sooner than later

We had a great time at Modita! Initially I was skeptical of their vegetarian options but the manager recommended a lot of great dishes that completely changed our mind. The edamame was so flavorful and fun to eat. I had never eaten anything like it before. The naan came with a bunch of dips that complemented the bread so well. The Brussels sprouts are just the right amount of crunchy and soft. The kimchi mandu skin was perfectly thin. The mapo tofu could be spicy for some but I’m sure they can adjust the spice level. We had a great time and would definitely visit again. I rated the atmosphere 4/5 as it can get a bit noisy during rush hour but I like the vibes.

MOST HONEST REVIEW YOU WILL SEE! The food was exceptional, deserving a perfect 10 out of 10, with vibrant flavors and beautifully coordinated color combinations that truly impressed us. My wife and I found the experience to be mind-blowing and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The service was outstanding—super friendly staff who were attentive without being intrusive, checking in at just the right moments. However, the dessert didn’t quite meet our expectations, rating only 6 out of 10. I ordered the mango lassi cake, but it tasted more like a carrot cake and lacked the expected mango flavor. We preferred mixing the raspberry and mango purees on the plate to enhance the flavors, but overall, it wasn’t to our taste. The restaurant’s ambiance is stunning, with elegant decor and ambient lighting that create a perfect setting. It’s definitely a great vibe for a romantic night out with your wife or a casual get-together with friends.

Always 10/10. This is probably our fave CRG restaurant. Unique cocktails, great service. Love the bao buns & jiaozi. Try the Brussels sprouts or green beans. Great vegetarian sushi roll too. Thanks for the good vibes & food!

We came here last night for my sister in laws birthday. Every dish we had was great and so were the drinks. Our waiter was very nice he was just slow at taking our orders, getting things out etc. We had a party of 10 so I know that’s a big table and a lot of work but it took him almost a full 45 minutes to take our appetizer order, we were there from 7:30-10:15pm. The ube ice cream is phenomenal, a must order!!!

Great dimly lit resturant ( but not too dim) Food was great! Everything came out hot and tasted wonderful. The Naan was wonderful and I highly recommend. The noise volume got pretty loud and it was hard to hear my friends at the table sitting acrossed from me. (Circle table) however, this isn't really something the staff can control.

H
Hailey Bernard

The edamame and shrimp was great, although I didn’t much like the chai ice cream. Service was lovely, except I paid in cash and my change would have been about $50 and my server handed me $5 back. No worries, a simple mistake that was corrected immediately. Definitely would come back and try another dish. Super convenient if you’re staying at the hotel.

so delicious!! we got the pho soup dumplings and they were a 10/10. the shrimp drunken noodles were also delicious. staff was very friendly and i really enjoyed the vibes in the restaurant overall. definitely recommend

Great experience over all the Pork Bao buns were by far the best thing we got and I would come back just to get them. The Mongolian beef noodles were also very good. My only complaint is the serving size for both entrees was a little smaller than expected. Would definitely go again 4.5/5

Ivan Sleet

Hands down the BEST Mongolian beef we have ever had in our lives. No exaggeration — it was tender, flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and just melted in your mouth. The ginger salad was fresh and vibrant, a perfect balance to the richness of the main dish. The atmosphere at Modita is classy but relaxed, and the ambiance is on point — warm lighting, great music, and a beautifully designed space that sets the tone for a memorable night out. Service was attentive and friendly from start to finish. We had an amazing time and seriously can’t wait to go back. Modita just raised the bar.

Absolutely outstanding establishment. Our server, Austin (Dawson!), generously took time to explain each section of the menu, pointing out favorites and details along the way. The Wagyu Nigiri was incredible, and was truly a one of a kind flavor. The Tuna Roll was also outstanding. Service was consistently quick. Overall, a wonderful place I will certainly return to.

J

The dirty martini was perfectly balanced, and I enjoyed all the dishes we ordered except for the dessert and the oily naan. The mango cake had an odd imitation crab meat flavor, which was quite off-putting. I’m giving four out of five stars for service. Our main waitress was amazing, but some of the other staff gave us judgmental looks when we initially said we would stay and later double-checked the closing time with our waitress. We didn’t mind leaving once we confirmed the closing time, but the behavior of those staff members left an unnecessary impression.

Some of the best service I've had. The waiter came over soon after we sat down to ask if we had any allergies or dietary restrictions. Since it was our first time, he also explained a bit about the menu and then left to give us some time to pick out drinks. The waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, and all around great service. The atmosphere was really nice. I enjoyed the low lighting and the decor was well done. There wasn't too many people the time we went so it was easy to talk. I could see it being a bit louder if the restaurant was full. We had 2 cocktails and 1 sake, pork soup dumplings, the samon rolls, and the shrimp tempura rolls. For dessert we had the Yuzu bar and Ube ice cream. Everything was absolutely delicious. The desserts were definitely shareable size. We had told our waiter we planned to share the sushi, so they brought it out on one plate and then two smaller plates so that it made it easier to share. The green teas were also really good transition between entrees and the dessert. The waiter even told us when to pull out the tea bags/when it would be done steeping. We paid around 120-130 in total.

VERY GLUTEN FREE FRIENDLY! I saw Modita on TikTok and had to check out the hype. From the moment you walk in you are starting the experience. I went with a group of friends so we could properly have dim sum and it did not disappoint. They are able ti make a lot of dietary modifications! Did not take away from the meal. Also - Don’t forget it’s part of Cunningham restaurant group so if you have a free VIP account, you get points for spending! Pork Bao Buns were my favorite!

Jo was the BEST! This was our first time here and the service and vibes were phenomenal. Jo has ruined all service professionals for us! This place is a 10/10. The soup dumplings are the best I’ve ever had. The drinks? Amazing.

We come here every year when we stay at the Bottleworks Hotel and it has become one of our favorite restaurants. The service is wonderful, gorgeous atmosphere, and the food is fantastic. Don’t sleep on the desserts- amazing.

Modita is without a doubt our favorite restaurant in Indianapolis. We go very often sometimes almost every Friday, and if not, at least every couple of weeks or twice a month, because every visit is an amazing experience. The food is extraordinary absolutely everything they serve is delicious, with impeccable quality and presentation. But if I had to highlight one thing, it would definitely be the bao buns simply irresistible! The service is outstanding. Especially Josh, who almost always takes care of us, and the chef, who already treat us like family. They’re friendly, attentive, and make every visit feel special. We’ve celebrated birthdays and special occasions here, and they always exceed our expectations. If I could give 20 stars, I absolutely would. Without a doubt, the best restaurant I can recommend in Indianapolis excellent food, amazing atmosphere, and a team that makes you want to come back again and again.

The food was absolutely lip-smacking! I was really impressed with the creativity and fusion on the menu. I’m usually not into fusion, but this one truly hit the spot, the chef clearly knows what they’re doing. Special mention to Blake, our server, who was fantastic, great explanations, read the room well, and made my birthday feel extra special. Alex, the manager, was also kind enough to check in and share some lovely conversation. Thank you to Modita and the entire team for taking such great care of us and making my birthday night memorable. Highly recommend!

I've been going to Modita for the past four years, and it has never once disappointed. This place consistently delivers on every level. Words honestly don't do this place justice. The food is unreal. From the savory boa buns and shrimp toast to the Mongolian beef noodles — all 10/10 (honorable mentions) every dish is layered, bold, and thoughtfully executed. The drinks deserve just as much praise…creative and well crafted especially the ube mocktail. The service is just as top-tier. Josh always stands out as our server knowledgeable, personable + genuinely invested in making the dining experience memorable. And if their seasonal chai tea ice cream is available it's an absolute must order. One bite somehow turns into an empty bowl every single time. Overall, Modita is a restaurant I'II continue to return to and recommend without hesitation. It's consistently excellent, endlessly comforting, and an all-around standout☺️

The menu at Modita is pan-Asian, reinterpreting dishes from Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai and Indian cuisines. Individually, the dishes are generally good. The grilled pork belly bao buns ($18) and the chicken skewers ($18) surprisingly shared a very similar flavor profile and could have used a brightly acidic pickled condiment to cut through the heavy sauce. The pork kimchi fried rice ($19) was interesting and only mildly spicy that diners who may normally shy away from spicy food shouldn’t be afraid to try it. The Kalbi-style beef short rib ($32) was flavorful but is not as tender as the traditional Korean short ribs. So conceptually, I think because Modita tries to appeal as broadly as possible, the flavors are not as focused. You get dishes that are not quite Korean, or not quite Thai, etc. Dinner was enjoyable nonetheless.

Michael Chang

I would rate Modita a solid 3.5 stars. Let's start with the pros first: - very nice setting, lively atmosphere - friendly and helpful staff - creative cocktails Now for the food which had mixed results: - Hamachi nigiri was disappointing; the rice was hard and the fish lacked any flavor - Bao Buns were drenched in sauce (I believe it was a plum sauce) that made them too sweet for my liking - Ora King Salmon was delicious; the coconut sauce really complimented the fish Overall an above average experience.

For being open for 2 weeks it was running very smoothly. The service was excellent. Our waitress Cora was excellent she was very informative of the menu. We tried a variety of dishes. Which for the most part was good. The food was presented very elegantly. No complaints about the quality of all the dishes. They do need to tweak some of there dishes but for the most part it is worth the visit. I would recommend this place.

J
Joni Heredia

I didn't know what Modita was when we went in but it is Asian fusion so be prepared for everything on the menu to be weird. Everything had a twist. My friends and I had crispy noodles and it was good. Not the best. The drinks were also more expensive than I anticipated so just be aware of that. They do have sake.

P

We went to Modita for Devour Indy. I think the menu is really tasty and good value for money. We ordered bao buns, soup dumplings, ice cream and Yuzu bar, everything was amazing!! We also ordered Pho beef, I think this dish could have been more flavourful and then it would have really hit the same caliber as the other dishes. The cocktails are very innovative and I really enjoyed their version of the New York bourbon sour.

I went to Modita with some friends. Reservation needed to be done a week in advanced and it was packed, with 1 and a half hour wait times (this was Saturday 8pm). Food is a box of suprises. Some are really nice surprises, others are disappointing. Among the disappointing, I would think salads and the crab sushi. Spicy shrimp noodle was tasty, as was the pho dim sums. The guioza were ok, nothing special... Oh, almost forgot! The baos are very good here (the pork belly is delicious)! To drink, I had 2 pilsners which I later discovered were from India (gave me an annoying headache later). Prices were as expected for a popular upscale option like this.. Nothing bad to say on vibe or service; both are near perfect.

Had a 7:30 reservation and was seated right away. Took a while for the server to come around. Ordered Bao Buns and Chicken Udon Noodles. Took forever to get our food (20+ minutes). Very disappointed in the bao buns - they were served cold. Also the slaw completely overpowered the pork belly. The pork by itself was delicious. The entrees really saved the evening. Chicken udon noodles absolutely delicious - fantastic. A great spot if you happen to be nearby, but wouldn't go oht of my way.

Really beautiful restaurant! Really amazing staff. The staff were very good on checking on us and filling up our water. We got a good amount of food. To me the food was okay. My other group found it good. Maybe its just not my style. But i definitely recommend people to go and try! There are some steps to some tables! There were some booths. The bathrooms were nice and clean. There was 4 individual bathrooms which is very nice! Music isnt loud at all which is great. Great for conversation!,

We have been to Modita two times. The service and atmosphere of Modita have been wonderful both times, but the food has been average especially considering the price point. On our latest visit, we got the salmon uramaki roll but the salmon was inexplicably seared rather than raw. We did enjoy cocktails and mocktails, which seem to be Modita's strong suit. Overall, I would recommend Modita if you're looking for a nicer place to get some drinks.

On this occasion, my experience at Modita was not the best. From the moment I arrived, the host clearly did not know how to handle a very simple situation in response to a basic request I made. The restaurant had just opened and was completely empty; by the time I finished my meal, it was still empty, so there was no clear reason for the confusion or lack of resolution. The service from the server was also poor and well below the standards that Cunningham Restaurant Group is known for—standards that regular guests have come to expect and that, unfortunately, were not reflected during this visit. I want to be clear that I truly enjoy dining at Cunningham Restaurant Group restaurants, to the point that I have already completed six full reward cycles on my VIP Card, which is no small thing. I always try to be fair with my reviews, and it’s important to note that Modita remains in my top 10 favorite restaurants. I have visited and experienced over 600 restaurants, so this opinion comes from real experience and direct comparison. That is exactly why I’m sharing this review—because I know the level Modita is capable of delivering, and I hope this experience was simply an exception.

I just can’t justify 5 fried dumplings for $18 😭this is street food 😭 the dumplings took 30 mins to arrive, sushi took another 40. Was sitting by the bar on a Monday with the restaurant nowhere near full capacity. Spicy tuna roll was pretty good. I’m just horrified at the dumplings 😭 I will say that the bartender and service was incredible!

Not sure what all the hype is about this place, but it definitely broke my heart. I tend to go to chicago a couple of times a year & never leave without having soup dumplings in chinatown, so being from indy, this place has been on my must try list forever. Came here for my birthday & I was so disappointed. To start I won't blame my server for the extremely slow service since it was a busy saturday night, but my god everything is extremely slow here. My boyfriend & I ordered 5 items & intended to get it all together & share. We were advised that our food would just come out as it was finished, i said that was fine thinking it'd probably stagger 5-10 minutes between dishes coming out. However it was more like 30 minutes between everything. (25 minutes in) We first got the crab lettuce wraps & a tempura shrimp roll, those were pretty good. Next came the soup dumplings, supposed to be the highlight of my night, they were just warm, very doughy on the top & the taste was just okay. The pork bao buns came next, room temperature (& okay taste) like they had been sitting in the window waiting for anyone to bring them. We ordered drinks, which i will take the blame for. Asked for 2 strawberry mojitos as they appear to have a full bar (we were sitting right next to it) the drinks took 30 minutes & had no mint in them (isn't that the point???) Sodas are not free refills even though they only have coke, diet coke & sprite? After another 30 minutes, my Abura Soba came out (highly recommended by the server, supposedly the best rice/noodle dish on the menu.) By that time my appetite had passed from waiting so long for everything but I was still excited to try this "saucy ramen." This was the most bland item i've had in a long time. The pork belly pieces were fried hard like bricks on top, the noodles tasted like instant pork ramen from the grocery store, & again it was room temperature as if it was sitting in the window. I took 2 bites & just sent to back, didn't ask for anything to replace it because I was tired of being there. Our server seemed like she was having a long night, very cold to us, however I've been a server for years so I understand having an off day. I reminded her it was my birthday & asked if they had birthday desserts, she rushed away, came back with the dessert menu & then rushed away again. I saw other ppl celebrating their birthdays with candles on their desserts but mine was just brought out & sat infront of me, no happy birthday no candle nothing. As I was already desperate to leave that just put the cherry on top so I asked for a box for the yuzu bar so we could leave. Also, it was mind boggling to me how all the food would take forever to come out & be lukewarm, yet a lot of employees were huddled up behind the the wall separating the dining room from the host stand. Maybe they need to hire food runners or make everyone accountable for helping each other? Overall everything was lackluster, & it was extremely disappointing since it was my birthday & I had been really looking forward to going here. Even if the service was better I wouldn't return because the food is so average. If you want soupless ramen try Strange Bird, Kizuki, literally anywhere else.
