Really good food, and drinks,and very reasonable prices, only complaint the service wasn't all that good

This is my first time visiting and I had the ceviche and the tostones and it was amazing, staff is very attentive and the place is very welcoming. I am looking forward for my next visit.

I ordered ceviche, and it was very good. Service was prompt and our server was nice and friendly.

The Food and Service is excellent. Only thing is to please lower the music to a lounge level, not to one of those cars blasting music in the trunk. Ears were hurting and started getting stressed vs having a relaxing time. One of the waiters lowered and peace and bliss all over again. :)

Giovanni was the most courteous chivalrous waiter we have ever met. The attention that he gave to us was that equivalent to a 5 star service! You should definitely check out this restaurant if you want to have a great time, and enjoy some delicious food and music! The experience from beginning to end was exemplary! This restaurant is in a great location. It is conveniently underneath the train station and parking is easy to find if driving. The food is great nd the service is fast. The food is fresh and they have a great beer selection. There is a lounge at the end of the club and its really nice and also discreet. They play Spanish music and are open till 4am.

Love this place went there for my husbands. Daughter and my brother in laws birthday dinner...they accommodated us with no problems for such a large group...the drinks were great and food was also on point...just dont like that their rest rooms are down stairs especially when you have toddlers and an infant you know...but nice place, staff and good food. Pricing is good also.

Everything on the menu is great, great decor, good music. Nice place to watch soccer games. Cozy bar area. Pros: Great food and service. I've been several times and never received rude service as others have stated. The Bolón is amazing...The Humitas smooth and cheezy. The steak, cooked and seasoned well. Cons: It's good for families, but not if you have a baby. There are NO CHANGING TABLES. I had to hold my son in the air while my wife changed him. Not a great experience. The upstairs bathroom is huge, so please install a changing table!

Loved the food here. It was ready pretty quickly. Attententive servers also.Very spacious and loved the setting inside. Actually has two sides to it, since I was there earlier in a weekday the other side was closed off, but it looks more like the bar dancing area that also has some seats.

A nice Latin restaurant and bar in the middle of Woodhaven, Queens. The place is is divided into two parts; the restaurant on one side, and the club on the left. The restaurant serves mostly a blend of Latin comfort food. The food is good, the portions are adequate, at a reasonable price. The club is not very big, but if you want to dance a mix of oldy and contemporary Latin music, of every genre, (no ballads, ) this spot has you covered. The service is courtious and fast, the drinks comparable to most clubs of this size. The atmosphere is lively, and young, but very friendly.

Food is good over all. Ceviche is way too salty. Like other reviewers said service is not the greatest. Be prepared to wait a long time.

I had to ask for everything! Utensils,Hot sauce etc. Nothing was on the table, my juice glass was cracked and almost cut my lip.

Our favorite Ecuadorian restaurant in NYC, located in Woodhaven Queens, our old neighborhood. Too many favorites to mention, from soups to main dishes. My only pet peeve is that the tip is mandatory, therefore the servers have no incentive to bring the food at the same time. My husband was served first while I waited 20 minutes for my order, by a different server. If they would only improve the service I would give them a 5.

i love coming here the food is amazing. we came to ny to visit and it was 12 so we walked in during happy hour i guess and obviously it was loud but not their fault. absolutely love it here

The only reason I give a 3 stars id because of the staff no complying with covid 19 guidelines. I understand that from time to time the mask should be lower down to breath, however this is every time that none of the staff members have their mask covering their faces properly.

Horrible service, rhe atmosphere has changed in recent year's along with the service. I dont know if they sold and have new owners but service is has definitely become subpar and its very sad.

Food was ok, was a discrepancy with the bill the price on the bill was much higher by a few dollars than was shown on the menu, the waitress couldn't give a clear answer to why the overcharge, check your bill before you pay.

The bartender guy was awesome, on point with the drinks. Their was one waitress who didn't seem to like her job. Next time I'm staying at the bar! The music was eeeh they played music that no one danced to ALOT, not cool. There was one guy who was with the bartender and he seemed racist. Tropical has some truly delicious Ecuadorian food, no doubt about it. The flavors are authentic, portions are generous, and it’s one of the few spots around that really nails traditional dishes. Unfortunately, the overall experience doesn’t always match the quality of the food. Service can be hit or miss—especially when ordering for pick-up, which often feels like more of a hassle than it should be. There’s also been some noticeable inconsistency with pricing. One day it’s one amount, the next day it’s something else for the same order. It’s frustrating and makes it hard to trust what you’ll actually be charged. Even more disappointing is the vibe at times—it’s a diverse area, but there have been moments where it felt like certain customers were treated differently, which is not okay. Add to that the fact that the tip is already included when dining in, and you can tell there’s less motivation to offer great service. It’s a shame, because the food really is worth coming back for—but just be aware of what to expect, and make sure to double-check your total before paying.

I went to this night club / Bar Lounge it's a nice hip bar. On Jamaica Avenue if you want to just listen to some music and hang for awhile. It's a cool place to be with friends. The dance floor is midsize but it's a nice to place. The seating area is clean and bar tenders are quick with your drinks and brining you a round of beers back to your table they are there to serve you. Nice Place

Ordering pick up or Uber eats from this place it's insane. You wait for over an hour. Also i get that prices are slightly higher through uber eats rather than going into the restaurant. But this place charges $8 bucks for a 16oz Poland spring bottle of water. I thought it was a gallon of water until I read the fine prints and noticed it was for a 16 oz bottle of water 😭🤣. I thought the water was made of eggs lol

Food is good The servings are stingy , we go there once or twice a month it’s sad cause would like to go there more often but the quality varies hit or miss on the service, unorganized. I could put up with a lot but paying fairly well for a dish I would like to leave the place satisfied (full) and it’s not possible perhaps the owner feels the the customer will order more in fact me I’ll go there less and try other places that serves more and just as good.

Posting only because the staff and either manager or owner are incompetent, firstly waited over an hour for my order which was wrong, when i asked the runner said the waitress was unaware of the menu and said it will send her over which never happened. When the bill came it had my order correct but either kitchen staff refused to do it or owner said dont do it. Lastly, they charge a 6 dollars fee to pay with a card, ive never heard about that anywhere else. Definitely not coming back. Food was ok and music was good as well only reason im giving it two stars.

I ordered the breaded chicken and it tasted bad it was almost burnt to a crisp and tasted as though the oil they fried it in was old and the chicken itself tasted plained and unseasoned, the fries tasted as though they've been re-heater in the microwave. Even the ketchup tasted weird like its been out in the sun for hours. They charge way too much considering the Portions and the taste of the food. Also they informed us that they did not accept debit cards at the moment as we were paying, instead of before we sat down. The service also wasnt all that great. They were nice but a bit forgetful, I'd understand if it was busy but it wasnt all that busy.

My experience with the food horrible the guacamole was the only food I liked I ordered soups the beef was beyond tuff and it wasn’t even served in a proper bowl. The taste was bad and I was given all almost bone no meat. The seasoning was horrible I do not recommend eating here. The service was fine the wait time was not good either. This restaurant use to be good even great but I don’t know if it’s a new chef or food quality but it’s not worth going here anymore.

The experience was not pleasant I went in for a pick up and ended up leaving with 4 dollars in pennies after after waiting like 10 mns for people who didn’t know what the hell they were doing. I saw how they handled food and it was not good at all. All though the food was not bad as everything else was, it was ridiculously small and much more expensive then better restaurants around the area. Tiny portions for a larger amount. Will not be coming back.

Came to eat here with my family 5 times this year. We have been coming to this place for the last 8 years and I don’t understand why some times the food quality is better than other times, every time I have been there this year I have been disappointed, food is decreasing quality and prices are going up, even if you’re paying with cars they will charge you more. The size of the meat is ridiculous small and expensive. I will start looking for a new spot because this one is going down. They had a live singer that Sunday may 4 around 4 pm and the music was so loud that I had a headache all that night.

I went today for lunch. Vegetables cream had no flavour. Then I ordered Corvina with seafood sauce. Attached is the picture showing the piece of corvina they served to me. Unacceptable. The seafood was good though.

I just called and made an order and the person that’s taking the order is so rude. First he got upset because my number isn’t register and it’s my first time ordering and then when I say I’m paying with my debit card he sighs like he is all annoyed that I’m giving him like a bigger job I guess. I just got a stomach ache, I ordered a mixed casserole, they gave me a reheated commode, I don't know how many days ago, but it was super bad I ate what I could because it was my first meal of the day at 3:00 pm, I don't recommend it.

I was among a party of 8 & only 2 people thought the food was "ok". I wasn't one of them. I ordered grilled chicken breast with onions, tomatoes, & peppers & a side of tostones. The tostones were very bland. Salt didn't help. This was the best part of the meal. The chicken dish consisted of a shallow bowl of chicken "stew" -- I don't know how else to describe it. Tiny pieces of white meat chicken, some pieces still with the skin on, were smothered in a tomato-like "soup", along with tiny shreds of tomatoes & onions. Also added to this "soup" was a large portion of French fries!!! It was terrible. I was starving so I ate it anyway, otherwise I definitely would have sent it back. One of my friends ordered the 1/2 rotisseried chicken, double-portion dark meat with one side salad. She got TWO 1/4 rotisseried chicken dinners, each with 3 different side dishes!! Yes...she was expected to pay for both!! At least she enjoyed the taste of her food. The other dinner incidents are just as bad. Wish I had taken photos.

I used to go on Saturday nights because of the music and the drinks, but then the drinks went up and the music got so bad. There should be a variety of music but they stick to Vallenato and Salsa, and it gets boring after a while… and the drink, it got so expensive for one cup full of ice and juice with barely any alcohol. Not to mention that the dance floor is sooo full. They should start taking reservations because it is so full it’s impossible to dance. Last time, I kept bumping into everyone because it was SO crowded and people give you bad looks because they think you are bumping into them for no reason whatsoever. Also, one thing that happened when I went once in a group was that they charged us for something we didn’t even drink, a cubetazo, I hope it was a mistake and that they didn’t think we were too drunk to notice that they had put and extra charge in the bill. All in all, I don’t recommend it.

Restaurant charges tips for take out something like 15 or 18% and on top of that they charge you 3 dollars as a convenience fee for buying food at their establishment. Its a scam because their employees know about it and hide it. They tried it with me by not giving me my receipt and just asking for the money. When I realized my order was almost $13 dollars over what i ordered, they told me thats how they do it because of the pandemic. Im sure the owner is involved in this, I never write reviews but this is stealing from your patrons.

I did order food to take out when I was ready to pay the total, they charged me an extra $14 that includes 15% TIPS and almost $3 for credit card swipe. I don't understand why they charge for the TIPS specially for take out orders. Also, you have to ask for the original receipt because the second one didn't show the details but curiosity it asks for another 15% TIPS. The food is ok but this kind of trick to over charge customers will let the business go down. If you planning to go to this restaurant be prepared for extra charges.

very bad attention will not come back anymore. I made my reservation of 20 people for my birthday. From the beginning all wrong when I made the reservation I had to wait because nobody spoke English. In the end we went horrible it was never the entrance the cold food my mother found a hair in her ball soup everything was a disaster, we requested water from a skinny boy with braces and he said 'no inglish' and he left. And worst of all the tip including 20% ​​God could not believe it.

The food was good but the service was horrible. The DJ was very disrespectful towards my family members. He was asked nicely if we could have a song played for wedding celebration. He played the song but we had asked him if he could wait until the groom arrives because he had gone to the bathroom. The Dj's response was very disrespectful. He used vulgar language towards us and said he was playing the song because that wasn't his problem that the groom was in the bathroom. I love coming to eat here but this left a bad imagine on everything itself. I don't think it's right that we come to have a good time and celebrate an especially occasion and we get mistreated. It's very disappointing to have experienced this. After this I don't think I could recommend someone to come to this place.

I ordered through a courier. I wanted a Ecuadorian dish so this was the closest. The portion size for the price are not good ... And to give hot rice in cardboard boxes I don't like that. It made the rice soggy and wet. It was sloppy ... Won't order from here again.

At this point I don’t know why I even bother with this place, always something. To even take my time out to write a review is just absurd & out of character. But I feel as if the managers/owners should see this. Even though I’m pretty sure they’re very aware of how this place is being run with/without their presence. Funny thing is the staff doesn’t know who personally knows the owners or not. You can ALWAYS count on bad, slow, & rude service here. The food or drinks are either a hit or miss & never consistent. Then they have the audacity to add auto gratuity. They lie about their lunch special hours & prices in person. I then went outside to purposely call the restaurant to verify if what they were telling me was true but then they told me something completely different over the phone.They should put the signs away if the lunches end at 4pm one day but then at 2pm the next. I just took my food to go, I refused to sit down and eat. Especially after I watched a server talk down to an elderly confused woman that was just trying to enjoy her lunch alone. Always double check the bill, they tend to try & be sneaky about certain charges or prices but when you try to dispute them or ask a question about your own bill they’re the first ones to get defensive, make up some excuse, or lie. I have personally seen this so I know I’m not the only one. My mother and I used to be regulars, we would have our mother daughter dates here but they have completely ruined that for us. So with all that being said I do not recommend this place & would give them 0! stars if I could. NO THANK YOU!

Bad service, was my first time coming to this place and the place looks nice, but the service very pathetic 😒 I order mofongo (super cold and it didn't taste fresh), I also order salchipapa (French fries cold), the unique thing that was not bad, was the mango juice. I had to stand up and walk to the employees and ask when they were gonna take my order, I did that 2 times. I went with a big group of people (12 people) and when they were serving the food they were asking for who was the food instead of knowing the seat numbers, no professional at all.

I’m not usually one to give bad reviews, but the service at this restaurant was truly the worst I’ve experienced. The waitress made me feel like I was bothering her every time I asked for something. Her attitude was dismissive, and it felt like she didn’t care about providing good service. It was uncomfortable and disappointing. Oddly enough, the busboy was more attentive and provided better service than she did! I wouldn’t recommend this place based on this experience, and I won’t be coming back if she is here.

I've been here a few times and hoped every time the next time will get better ! Unfortunately, i ordered a Chicharron dinner. All i was able to eat was the little bit of rice . The meat was flavorless and tasted like the oil they fried it in ...i still paid for the meal it was 20$ .. water is 3$ a bottle, and soda was 3.50 a can ! Paid over 130$ for dinner with my family, and they also added a 17$ tip (even tho i would have given maybe 3 times that if the service and food were better ) . Sorry, but I wouldn't recommend this place

I'm not one to write bad reviews at all considering I work in the industry but I have to write this one. My daughter order pernil with tostones. This is what they served us! All fat! I kindly said to the waitress that this wasn't what we were expecting. She did offer a different dish but at that point we were grossed out. We asked for the bill and she charged us for everything. 🤷 I paid it but that will be last time we ever go there.

CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!! I decided to go to Tropical Restaurant and order me a large seviche. Not only was i surprised with how much they charged but they were extremely cheap with the portion size and the quality of the seviche was absolutely disappointing. I can't believe i was charged $27 for something that looked like it came out of the toilet. I do not recommend this place to anyone and the quality of their food is questionable and definitely not worth the risk. Good luck to you all and have a blessed Thanksgiving with your loved ones.
