Friendly staff, great in house brew, awesome food. Owner was super nice. Definitely a new favorite spot.
Great vibe with a chill atmosphere. Best craft beer in central Texas. The staff makes you feel welcome.
If ya need a Monday reminder of what your weekend just felt like; ya need Reck'Em Right! "Metal Mondays" is great if you want to vent out the day with some Rock and Hops.
Very nice decor and clean. Great hospitality! Owner had a special deal for teachers and nurses. Food was good!
Good brisket chilli and cold reckem red, you can't get any better than that....
Great home brewed beer. Great atmosphere and very rustic. Over 7 home brewed beers.
Great low-key place for good food and great beer. Highly recommend. Will be back for sure.
Nice little place, really good beer especially for a new place. Friendly people and a cute bar puppy!
Great beers, cool vibe, and Tim is a super cool dude. If you are in Johnson City, this is a place to stop by at.
Great little brewery! Loved the Red and the Imperial Stout! A must try.
Excellent craft beers and some unique burgers. I highly recommend!!!

This is a great place! Come get some crawfish!
Really solid beer. Great service
Wonderful beer and atmosphere, a must 😀
Great home brew beer homey enviroment great place
Friendly owner. Victory Bells Mosaic IPA is delicious. Well produced grape seltzer. For those non beer drinkers, very cool vibe in the tap room - eclectic and rustic. Highly recommend.
Awesome place! The owners made the experience incredible! They are friendly, helpful, and talked me through the process and their different styles. I'll definitely be back around for their seasonal beers.
Awesome little gem in downtown Johnson City. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious BBQ. Extra bonus being the only brewery open Mondays. Definitely worth checking out!
They make a nice hef. The saison was mild, easy to drink. They have plastic growlers to go if you want to take it back to your rental cabin. They could use a few more employees, but overall I'd return for another round.
Extensive beer menu…all made here! Brewmaster friendly and willing to share brewing”secrets”. We tried 4 different brews and couldn’t choose a favorite! The food is absolutely delicious!! Don’t miss this place!!
Good selection of different craft beer types.. most were their own. They offer tasting flights AND will fill growlers. I left with a full growler of one of their cream ales... Delicious!
Nice atmosphere and great selection of beer. Friendly staff and sweet puppy. Nice talking with the Brew Master. Live music usually on Friday and Saturday. BYOFood also have a large charcuterie board.
The seltzer here is not sweet and it is very refreshing. We had the 3 meat BBQ plate and the pretzel bites. It was very good!
I came to try the beer (it's good too) and came across an amazing restaurant. The rueben is the best I've ever had, across the board. It's done with brisket and is amazing! I'm definitely coming back.
Beer is excellent, Tim the owner is great! Make your way here everytime you come through town. The pickers get together on Sunday afternoon for a jam session and it is AMAZING!
Great place, great beer (lots done with kveik, if you want to get beer nerdy), and the food is seriously really good. Get the queso and and the various brisket based sandwiches are great!
I love this place! Such a great atmosphere to enjoy a special brew with fun people. Thank you Tim for creating this place for Johnson City, TX.
This place is great. We have been to multiple things of theirs. From live music to crawfish boils and auctions. I like they have added things for us non beer drinkers. Plus the food is fantastic!!
Beer is decent, that jalapeño popper queso is really damn good. Place smells barbecue smoky walking in, making you crave their food. Love this place!
Great beer, unique Kveik yeast. As a home brewer and amateur follower of the latest beer trends I can't recommend these beers more for those looking for something special in Johnson City.
The pork rib plate was excellent. 4 tender ribs ,potato salad and pinto beans with 2 slices of bread. All of this for $10.00! Definitely a do it again.
Highly recommend! Awesome atmosphere, great music, great food, Coach and his wife are awesome! I will be back to try other beers as well!
Really good food and beer. Wife and I got the Shannon special and a fajita salad. It was delicious. Staff was friendly also!
Never fails, always good food good beer and good music. Great bbq tonight, music was the best yet! We'll definitely be back soon.
Passing through on 290, stopped for a beer. Friendly staff, music playing and lots of regulars. Welcoming place, and while I did not eat, the food coming by looked great as well. Worth a stop and a friendly hello!
One of the best breweries ever. This guy is very creative with his brews. He was out of crowler supplies but this was because of the worthless Biden supply chain issues. This place is the best.
Great service, great beer, bbq was fantastic! Perfect stop during our Austin-Big Bend trip. Highly recommended!
Awesome hill country spot. The food is excellent, great variety of beer. Highly recommend this as a stop in Johnson City.
A nice little place with good beer. Friendly people who are passionate about their craft. I look forward to tasting more of their beers. A great addition to the cool and laid back town.
So glad we stumbled on to this place! Friendly and lots of great beer. I love that we could get a flight of all 8 of their beers! Great local brewery.
RER is a great spot! The Reuben was outstanding and fulfilling without being heavy. The atmosphere is laid back and welcoming. Would recommend.
Being from Minnesota, my wife and I are frequently sampling breweries and BBQ here in Texas...this place was superb all around..fantastic brews and food plus super people..now my wife wants to move to Texas.
Didn’t have any beer but some friends did and they said that it was pretty good! Food? Honestly it’s okay and at a great price
Really great beer, food, and atmosphere. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. Worth the stop if you're passing through and even worth the drive if you're not. There are ciders, wine and NA options and the BBQ is delicious. Something for everyone!
I love their food. They now offer curbside. Call it in and pop by to pick up your to go orders. Chad and I had the 3 cheese smashburger on Saturday. So good!! After painting our house all day we were in no shape to go in anywhere to eat. Thank you Reck 'Em for your consistently great food. I've enjoyed everything I've ordered. Wednesday Bingo nights are a great time for the whole family. Thank you for polling our community to see what the people want and delivering. Support your local businesses.
Beer was fantastic. We had the imperial stout and the brown. BBQ was really good. Simple seasoning on the Brisket let the flavor of the meat and the smoke really shine and the beans were earthy and really tasted like scratch made. Fun, quirky little place worth a visit.
We love coming here. Tim, the owner and brewer, is a great host and brews good beer. I'm a homebrewer from CO dialed into the brewery community there, so it is always a treat to learn more about the local community in another state. Tim let me ask all kinds of questions about his origins, the rules and regs, and his yeast of choice. Plus the associated kitchen has scrumptious eats. We tried the Chips & Jalapeno Popper Queso. Such a delicious smokey flavor and vegetarian! When we are bake in April '24, this will be a stop not to miss!
Really good food and beer. We had multiple beers and all were good including the Double IPA and bourbon barrel aged stout. The brisket and pulled pork sandwiches were delicious along with the Frito Pie and chili. Would definitely return.
Good beer, the bbq was excellent! Nice atmosphere, definitely want to check out some live music here. I had the brisket sandwich, it was really good, my wife had the pulled pork, and said it was the best.
We love Reck Em!! Great craft beers that will suit anyone’s taste, a yummy hard seltzer, AND they have a local wine as well! There’s also a BBQ food truck on site that is awesome, and live music all the time… not to mention ART in the walls by local artists. Really friendly owners and bartenders too!
This place is great! Their cream ales were a favorite, my husband liked the barley wine, and their sno cone seltzer was yummy. Make sure you also try the Brisket Reuben. Everyone was super friendly... We'll be back!
Great place for lunch and dinner! Chill vibes live music and the food is great! The beer is outstanding order a tasting flight. The Reck em Red is my favorite. Sandwiches are awesome and HUGE! I will be back.
Best brisket taco I’ve ever had! Born and raised in Texas, I’ve had some really good brisket. This is the absolute best by far. The atmosphere is cool and the owner is really nice. Will definitely be back.
Came here Saturday 10/16. Fantastic beer, food and atmosphere. Tim took some time and sat with our group, gave us a look behind the scenes. Sampled some upcoming beer releases. DO NOT pass up this place, you will not be disappointed. Wish him all the best, we will be back. Thank you Tim.
Stopped in on Thursday (10/29/20) for lunch. BBQ was good and the Victory Bells Smash IPA was great. It wasn't busy, but appears to have a great vibe. I enjoyed visiting with Tim and hearing his story. I bought a crowler of Victory Bells. I look forward to stopping in again with family and spending a little more time here. Stop in have a few beers and support a small businesd. Na zdraví.
Another great off the beaten path place. Live acapella music. A wealth of homemade beer from a guy who just wants to share his passion with all of us. Homemade TX chili is really good. Stop by for the experience as well as the food. Get there early, it's 'intimate'.
I have been to well over 300 craft breweries across North America and the UK and I will have to say that Reck'em Brewery in the small town of Johnson City in the Texas wine country is by far #1. The beers are creative yet not gimmicky. The selection covers the spectrum of beers. From light and hoppy to dark and malty there is something there for every palate. Situated across from Texas legend, LBJ's boyhood home, Reck'em offers a small craft brewery setting with awesome beers. Take one to go and walk the charming downtown of Johnson City. Come experience what makes a #1 brewery #1.
I’ve been there twice now, tacos the first time and nachos the second time. Both were top notch, like very good. Met the owners and they are awesome too. Today they had all 12taps flowing. Wide selection from IPA’s to seltzer’s. I had both of their IPAs tonight and they were on point.
If you go, get the bbq loaded potato! I order this often at various bbq joints in Texas but this one takes the cake. Super tender brisket and the potato was obviously cooked in heaven. It was so tender it was almost a mashed potato. Awesome beer on top of all that! Go. Go NOW! Sorry about the photo. I devoured half of it before I thought to take a picture.
Two words: brisket. Nachos. New favorite stop on the way to the Burg! Service was great and the atmosphere is friendly. Food & drinks are A+++. Can’t wait to bring my husband back!
Good customer service, clientele and atmosphere! Family business! We grabbed the BAMF & blonde beers! Loved the indoor and outdoor seating options. Loved the decor also. Bartenders were wonderful & kind.
So my brother and I are from Houston, and we had come out to our friends ranch to help take care of some work on the land. We didn’t have anything ready for dinner, so we came into town and found our planned spot was closed, we checked out this fantastic establishment. Let’s just say, it turned into a religious experience. The home brews were fantastic, but the food…was magical. A small simple menu, but the offerings were of a unique joy in the delights to the pallet. The brisket and pulled pork were ultra moist, lovely smoky flavored with simple tastes that made for a magical moment. The cornbread is something of what dreams are made of. Perfect, moist, fluffy, …omg just pure joy. Do yourself a favor and make a trip to this wonderful hole in the wall. You’ll leave with a smile and a full belly. With dreams of delectable delights to tease. Maybe even some new friends to boot!
Great little spot! We had lunch. I had the brisket tacos and Super Sonic Lime-Ade. It was very good. Ask for salsa on the side.
This unassuming little bar gave me the best baked potato my husband and I have ever had. We ordered the Berzerker Ultimate Potato, and it's massive! We regret ordering a salad as well, because we both threw in the towel, but felt immensely sad that we couldn't finish the rest. They piled on the meat, queso, then drenched it in butter. Yummm!
Fantastic beer! Awesome seltzer. Super fun atmosphere. We LOVED playing miniature shuffle board. And the bartender wasn't hard to look at!!
We all know the beers are first class- with a great variety. But let’s talk about this sandwich… Here is the reason to drive to Johnson City from San Antonio.
Out standing Day 1 IPA! Kaz is awesome! Snow cone is crazy awesome! Cherry was our pick!
Small little place with great food and beer. Has an outdoor patio that we ate on. I got the Reuben that was made with smoked pastrami and it was super good.
Nice new brewery with a dozen beers on tap. I prefer Imperial Stouts but they didn't have any on tap today. The reviews show me that they do sometimes. I had their Whiskey Stout. As they stated, it is a dry Irish Stout similar to Guinness. I didn't sense much flavor impact from the whiskey barrel chips. My wife had the Bourbon Brown Ale. I thought it had more flavor, but I prefer milk stouts over dry stouts so it may just be my preference talking. We shared rhe 3 meat BBQ plate from the food truck out front. The BBQ had a good smoke ring and flavor. We got brisket, pork and ribs. They were all good, but the pork was a bit fatty. The pinto beans were just so-so. The potato salad was good.
First things first - BEST Dark Beer in the Hill Country. I had the Irish Stout. Super smooth & they make it right here. Had the BBQ chicken stuffed potatoe - Superb. The chicken on the potato wasn’t the typical “dry” breast strips. They mixed in plenty of dark meat it was moist, tender and tasted like it was roasted. About 1/4 a chicken worth!
Right down the road from exotic overnight stay zoo! Great food and atmosphere, good drinks and if you’re a Tech fan you’ll love it more than the average Joe! It’s a must stop in Johnson city.
We brought the kids to Johnson City for Labor Day weekend to do the exotic zoo, science museum, and local arcade. We went to Reck 'Em brewery on our last day, and it was one of our favorite places all weekend. The hospitable owner and staff, kid friendly atmosphere, the good music, the delicious craft beer, and the mouth watering BBQ make this place special. If you're in Johnson City, you have to try it!
LOVE this place, the vibe, the owners, the food and the beer. I’m a wino however when I’m Rome, drink their craft beer! (Or something like that). The turkey sandwich was amahhhzing! Local meat and freshest marble bread! We had the queso with salsa fresco that was delish too. Ask for small samples of the beer made on site. You’ll be more confused but hey, stay and drink all the ones you like.
June 2023 update: Tim continues to brew up fantastic beers. Wish we were closer. WOW!!! From the first sip I knew we'd stumbled on to something special. I started with the double IPA, as usual and it is phenomenal. The Red is ridiculously fantastic too. Wished we had more time, but we'll definitely be back.

I’ve been through Johnson City so much and am just now coming here. The food was excellent!! The brisket tacos were SO FAT and tasty. My Husband had the Frito Pie with brisket. We also had the jalepeno popper queso with the salsa and some jalapeno crema on the side. Idk what it was but it was DAMN good! Beer was great! Atmosphere felt like a home town bar and it’s good people and good vibes. The owner was there slinging beers and has the best personality! Stop by here if you can! I promise you won’t regret it!
Sampled 2 beers that were fantastic, Recommend the Saisson and Bourbon Brown. Burger good/average and Berserker stuffed potato was as big as my head and awesome. Brisket on potato shinned through and I'd get a Brisket meal next time. Tim served us and was super friendly and knowledgeable about the food and area. I'm shocked thus place wasn't packed but it is a small quirky bar. I loved it!

Nice little spot. Was a little disappointed they didn't have food when we stopped by, but the beer was tasty.
This was a return visit and I was impressed by the improvement of their beer. My previous visit was about a year ago, and I wasn't impressed. Also, they now offer really good BBQ. I had their Barleywine which was very good, and a half rack of ribs that was absolutely outstanding. These guys brew good beer and I like their choices on tap, and the BBQ is great. So, 4 stars for Reck 'Em Right and I'll be back for more. They do it right and will get even better! A definite asset for the Johnson City area.
This is a pretty good brewery. The beers are Southern English style, similar to Lazarus brewery, in that they are very malt focused. The accomodations are very basic and become easily cramped. Prices are fair. They serve real barbecue, although I did not have any, it appeared tasty. This establishment is popular with locals.

Cool spot, great music, great Red Ale but the 2 IPAs I tried had off tastes as if the yeast had gone bad during the brew process. It's possible that it's just a bad recipe but it tasted like soap and I had to return the beer. I've never returned a beer before so that was new to me
The flight of beers I had were fine for a small town brewpub. I enjoyed them all but the cedar beer and that is just personal preference. After the first round we ordered food. I believe they had only one guy in the kitchen. I'm sure he was doing his best but it took over an hour to get a pulled pork sandwich that was just OK. They were busy but it seemed like he was making one plate at a time even for larger tables. My friend had to take his sandwich to go.
Stopped in to have a pint on the way through town with the wife yesterday afternoon. We had one flight to see what we'd like to drink, and could barely finish the tasters. I'm reading about the kveik yeast explanation now, and your explanation of why you use the yeast to make your beer doesn't make sense to me, I've been brewing for 12 years, and hot and fast are not terms I would use to describe the best batches I've made over the years. We also had an order in for chips and salsa that never showed up in the half hour we waited, we wouldn't have minded if it wasn't slow, but there really weren't that many people there. I asked the young lady to please cancel the order when we closed our tab. Maybe my taste perceptions are off, I'm just trying to give some helpful feedback, I actually thought the red ale might be a Flander's when we tried it. Did not get a chance at the stout as it kicked when she tried to fill a taster of it.
If I could give them 0 stars I would. The dining area is tiny. You order in one part of the restaurant, receive a ticket, told to wait 10 minutes and walk outside around the corner to pick up your food. Person preparing food does not wear gloves. Food looks cheap. When I had a problem with my food I was told I had to go back around the building to where I ordered to fix it. Sorriest plac I've ever been to Response Tim, Please advise me on "the correct way" to handle poor dining experiences. Like how you didn't have what I originally wanted from the menu. You were out of brisket "for that item." Having to estimate when my order is ready and walk out of the building to get it The young man who never washed his bare hands. Who ignored me made me wait/stand outside only to tell me what I ordered wasn't coming and have to go back to the counter. At that point I did wish for a refund. And in the end paid $5 for a can of Dr. Pepper We stopped at your establishment because it had high reviews. Although you werent busy when my party arrived, I understand your town is flooded with business this time of year. I would expect you too as well and have prepared for it I don't mind compromising and understand places are busy and some bars/restaurants have character and flare but I get better service and quality at snack bars. Please take this constructive criticism for what it is. I am in fact a customer of several but not all who may not be able to appreciate or tolerate the service you provide Thank you
