Really good, authentic food. I ordered the Alambre, and I experienced this powerful imagery of being in Mexico. I saw and smelled one of the Mayan restaurants I ate at. This is by far the most authentic of any restaurant of it's type in the county, and it could very well be a strong contender for the most authentic food in the county. Good job. My only complaint would be the long wait for both the food and the check, however extensive wait time add very significantly to the authenticity.

AMAZING, AFFORDABLE, and GREAT VIEWS OF THE HUDSON!! I am a big fan of Mexican food and this place is by far our absolute favorite! I rarely write reviews, but I can't recommend them highly enough! They are easily one of the nicest and most hard working families in the area. We eat there almost every week because their food is delicious! Try them and you won't be disappointed!!

Amazing chile rellenos, delicious homemade chips,salsa, and guacamole, super great attentive staff, and plastic free, no single use plastic straws that end up in our rivers and streams! I asked for a custom made margarita with equal parts Don Julio to fresh squeezed lime juice and half that amount of triple sec on the rocks with salt and a floater of grand marnier and they nailed it, sooooooo good. Great views, everyone wearing masks, and social distancing strictly followed, poetry...................

My partner and I had dinner here last night. The tortilla soup and the chiles rellenos were great. The flan, for which I was particularly excited, was excellent. We look forward to returning.

Food is authentic and amazing! The wait staff is efficient and friendly. Best guacamole and one of the best margaritas I've had in a long time. Steak tempequena was out of this world and their flan is the real deal. When you factor in the incredible view, especially from on the veranda outside, its a place you owe it to yourself to try!

We got a nice table by the window and our waitress Tony was very fast and attentive! Food was served quickly and hot! Delicious flavor and the portions size was humongous! Since it was our first time there, we played it a little safe with a nachos appetizer and a burritos entree and a chimichangas entree. All were delicious! We left stuffed and happy! We had dinner here last night and it was extremely good, all fresh authentic Mexican dishes and the best margarita I've had anywhere, hands down. Staff was very friendly and now that it resides in the old Sky Top restaurant, the view is beautiful too. Highly recommend and truly hope they are able to be successful in the location.

We had a great experience at Sky View! We celebrated my mom's birthday there and had excellent service! We didn't tell them about the birthday occasion but they overheard us and went out of their way to ask if they could sing happy birthday and give my mom a complimentary treat. It was a perfect evening with blue skies and high 70s temperature. I heard two other people nearby say “this place is amazing” the view gives it a vacation like atmosphere.

This restaurant is phenomenal! The food is absolutely delicious, waitstaff friendly and professional. Unlike Santa Fe, this cuisine is authentic Mexican, with meat and shrimp cooked consistent with Mexican spices. You can feel the love. It is the best Mexican restaurant in the Kingston, Woodstock, Saugherties area. Give yourself a treat drive up the hill to Skyview.

Went just around opening time, staff was very friendly and welcoming and the place was clean with a great view. We both enjoyed our meals, we had the chimichangas and chicken flautist. The chicken was tender and favourful, the beef was perfectly seasoned, everything was fresh including the salsa and chips. Wish I had saved room for flan. Marking this as a favourite and looking forward to dining there again.

Made a random stop at this restaurant with my family on our road trip and we are so glad we did. Everything from the food, drinks, service, atmosphere and the people were just on point. A great tasting menu, really great flavors of Mexican food and run by what seems like a very close knit crew of staff. Very warm service, attentive and listened well to our modifications for the meals. The view is also superb overlooking the skyline on a summer day the patio couldnt be more inviting tho indoor seating is also great with lots windows. Awesome food! We split a chicken quesadila during a sip and paint fundraiser. The guacamole was great - super chunky and flavorful, not that gross lime green lemony bagged kind some places use. Deff made in-house. I also got a margarita that was perfect. Will definitely come back!

It's such a great atmosphere a beautiful restaurant. The portion size was so much bigger than I thought it would be so bring your appetite! Very homemade made by hand we were shocked how great the chicken soup was just the stock was amazing! We we had the shrimp poppers as an appetizer I could have had it as a meal. The steak was great and like I said bring your appetite. And the people were so nice are was Amazing! So sweet!

Really beautiful setting. Great views and wonderful staff. But then there's the food. That's great too. Small menu compared to many restaurants but what they do, they do amazingly well. The fajitas were so we'll cooked. The chicken was not dry at all, the guacamole was flavorful, the ingredients for everything just seemed fresh and it was all put together well. The specialty dinners were amazingly huge and worth every penny. It was a great time. And there was live music! Can't ask for more.

First time visiting this restaurant, I came to attend my mother in-laws 80th birthday party. I’d recommend this place to anyone who wants excellent food, and likes to dance. Good food, good portions, great staff. I enjoyed two dinners here during a recent trip to Kingston, and I would return. Prices are reasonable for the area and the quality of the cuisine. Decor is very similar to the old Skytop restaurant with wood tables and chairs. It was warmly lit and cheerful when we visited. To the owner, I recommend two things that might make it even better: more visible signage at the road (like Skytop had back in the day) and clearly advertised happy hour drink specials (both visits the bar staff were friendly, but could not explain if there were specials or not).

Anytime we’re taking a trip down 87 miles we stop here. The food is great, the service is great, margaritas are great. Huge portions, we always take home leftovers. Fajitas are really fresh and big portion, reheat great the next day.

Such a hidden gem!! We went here recently and had a terrific meal! I had chicken fajitas...that were absolutely loaded with flavor...with plenty of chicken, onions and peppers...not just a plate of fried onions with a couple slivers of chicken and peppers...but the kind of loaded, sizzling plate you've been dreaming of! My boyfriend had the burrito platter, and he was equally impressed. We got pitcher of margaritas, that unfortunately was a little bit light on the tequila, making it a bit too sweet...but still a tasty way to wash down such delicious food! We ended our meal with a delicious flan to share. It is homemade...and absolutely fantastic! We will definitely be returning!

My party of 3 arrived a hour prior to this restaurant closing and I can’t say enough about how kind the staff was. The outdoor seating is beautiful, the food came out fast and was delicious, and the workers were some of the nicest people i’ve met. Definitely recommend to stop by. Prices are reasonable. I felt like I was in a rain forest. The landscaping was beautiful. Will definitely return. Restaurant is right next to Kingston Motel. Great place to get away. It looks like they have a DJ on weekends.

I’m serious this was the best meal I’ve had in so long. The tortillas they use (or make?) are just so flavorful in and of themselves. The steak tacos, the freshly chopped pico and onions, the non watery perfect red salsa. You have to go. It’s the first time my friend took home leftovers in the 13 years I’ve known her.

This place is awesome. You get a great view of Kingston from the balcony and the staff are friendly and attentive. We ordered cheese enchiladas and they are near the top for authentic flavor in the Hudson Valley (something that I find difficult to find up here give that I’m originally from the Southwest). They also have Lagunitas on tap which is a far cry from the usual bottles of Corona or Bud at most local restaurants. The margaritas are also pretty good, not overflowing like some places but also not overly expensive and small like others.

This was an unbelievable find. I love Mexican food and judge them by their enchiladas. We came here with low expectations and could not have been more wrong. This is right up there with the best enchiladas I’ve had in the city. We ordered mole and verde enchiladas and they were phenomenal. Generous amounts of cheese, mole, tender meat. I would venture to say that you should drive out of your way to visit this place. The service was impeccable and friendly, the food outstanding, and the margaritas were on point too. If you happen to be driving past it’s a no brainer, but just so you know, we will be stopping by here anytime we venture upstate.

Came here as a guest for a gathering. Place was spacious. Bathrooms were clean. I didn't drink, but I did buy a couple for people. Prices were a tad higher than expected, but I was told the drinks were VERY strong.

Great food and excellent service. Was really slow, we got there right after they opened. Ask about pitchers of margaritas! Fajitas not your run of the mill Fajitas, we had the beef, excellent and reasonably priced.

We just finished a 3 hour hike in Kingston and needed sustenance before driving back to Ithaca. Skyview was the closest option. We drove up at 2pm and there were no cars and the place looked closed. There was an open sign, and we entered. No one was there! Prior reviews gave it a 4.6, so we stayed. Glad we did. Our waiter was really nice and the food was delicious. Took a while to get our order, but that was because they made our meal instead of warning stuff up. Hope they stay in business. With a tip, our lunch was $50, so it isn't cheap. I would go back.

We came here for my birthday and the service was great there was nobody there which was even better though LOL but the food was flavorful the drinks were good the dessert was good. We got the churros with ice cream I got the steak fajita. The steak for the fajita was a little bit tough and grizzly in some parts but the flavor was pretty good. My mom and my husband got other things their food was pretty good but this is definitely a place that we overlooked. But overall this was an amazing place to go.

Friendly service, beautiful view, really beautiful restaurant. The chicken was a little dry, the rice and bean sides were kind of plain, but the rest of the food was delicious. The hot sauce was super hot but also really flavorful which I LOVED. The fried ice cream dessert was HEAVEN. Overall good experience.

Sky view diner did not disappoint us. We decided to eat on their very spacious and very clean veranda. The view was fantastic and relaxing after a long day of driving. The menu had amazing choices of seafood, steak and traditional mexican favorites. We chose a simple supper of enchiladas, rice & beans, flan for dessert. We took our time enjoying the experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Stopped by here on a road trip, wanting something more than fast food. This place has a lovely patio and a view! I got the chicken flautas, which were solid. Not the best I've had, but decent. The salsa for the chips was pretty watery and not particularly flavorful though. The flan was tasty (pictured) at least! My travel companion enjoyed her jalapeño margarita and black bean soup. Server was attentive.

My favorite Mexican around. The food is good, the service is pleasant and earnest. Even better if it's a beautiful day and you can find a seat outside!

Great place for eating dinner on the way home from snowboarding. Food was cooked to perfection. Plenty of room for all in our party as we had 11. Bar was well stocked and the entire place was very clean. Only thing I recommend not having is the regular water as it tastes somewhat of chlorine or something else.

First time here. Server was great. Super friendly and when we said no to dessert he brought out homemade flan for us to share on the house! All 4 meals were very good including the chips and salsa. Gave it a 4 for atmosphere since the view is almost entirely blocked by trees, etc over the years. Not their fault, but sad to see since I have been here over the last 50+ years when there was quite the view. Will be back.

Excellent Mexican option just outside uptown Kingston. Loved the vibe inside and the view is lovely on the outdoor patio. It’s definitely pricey for portion size in my opinion but one of the more authentic Mexican local options. Service was great! Loved the house made chips and the salsa was very fresh and great flavor. The guacamole app is teeeeny tinnnyy but tasty. I loved my quesadilla! The small pico de gallo portion was such a delicious crunchy addition to the plate. Veggie combo was also a great menu option and my husband loved. Others at our table had chicken dishes and it looked like all dark meat but zero complaints. I thought the rice was a little under spiced but the beans on point. We had a Margarita pitcher as well which was $43 for roughly 6 smaller glasses and was really juicy but not very strong at all. Would definitely be back again to Sky View!

Friendly, spacious seating, many choices. Two vegetarian choices. Found while driving north off intrastate 87, only a mile off highway rt 28. Hot food , large bar area, black beans should be option..only refried beans. Also rice is made with chicken stock so would be nice to have as vegetarian item for person in our group. Vegetarian choices was cheese enchiladas and vegetables enchiladas.. also tostada with guacamole. Other choices was chili raliano . Also had chicken chimichanga. Both hot and hit the spot.

Food and service were very good! The only issue was the ice cubes / water. Heavy sulpher taste. Water wasn't good and then got a soda and still tasted it. So, I would suggest the owners get bagged ice till they can address it. Food was awesome!! But the drinks.. not so much!

Tried this place now several times. Can’t say I’m happy about the food. Atmosphere nice with great view in the summer from the terrace. Even indoors it’s kinda nice. Staff if nice as well. Food is just ok. Many items are average, and overpriced. In addition, menu prices are not correct and when you get the bill it turns out that they charge differently for cash and cards. The menu prices- without warning- are cash prices. When you pay by CC, the prices go up and then they add taxes on top!!! I don’t think that’s good practice. Desserts are terrible, stale and dry. Coffee as weak as it comes, dishwashing water quality, Luke warm:-(

The food was tasty however it was not hot except for the fajita. Great chips and tasty salsa. The mango margarita was room temp w no ice. The odor of septic strongly permeated the air. As soon as it got dark the smell was very strong. Service was non existent. We sat outside on the deck. DEP and Board of Health should definitely address the septic sewer smell.

When we arrived, it was really nice. Lovely view of the valley below which we could see from the table we chose. Service was prompt. Food was generous and fresh and quite good, though totally lacking in any kind of heat (and I don't particularly like spicy food, but this had absolutely none). The problems were at the end. The moment the check was dropped we were forgotten. I put my card in the book, sticking out and obvious, but the server didn't come by until my companion waved it around much later. When the server ran it, it included this bogus "Customer Service Charge." The menu says there will be a service charge for parties of six or more, but there were two of us. Apparently they just pass credit card fees on to the customers, and I'm not entirely sure that's legal. It's certainly not ethical to do it without warning. To top all that off, at the bottom of the check there was a suggested tip chart with the percentages calculated on the total including the tax and this fee. That's super unethical. Tips are calculated on the total before tax. I was a server for years. Do not play this game with me. So they lost stars in a huge way for inflating the check. I will never return or recommend this restaurant.

The place was beautiful and extremely clean. Our waitress was also very pleasant, these are the only reason they're getting the 3 stars. Our food took way, way too long to come out to us, and we were the only people in the place for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. The food had absolutely no flavor and I didn't care for my 10 dollar Margarita. Yuck!! We will never go back. Don Juan's in Kerhonkson NY is SO MUCH BETTER!!!!

$$ a bit on the pricey side ------------------------------------------. The comp. chips and salsa was skimpy, the salsa tasted ok...Maybe a bit too much bell pepper but not bad. The main course was plentiful but the food was bland. The waiter forgot the shrimp cocktail but blatantly pretended that he mis-understood. After the meal, showing my card, I asked if there were any military discounts and was curtly told "No!" I can accept "no" but why be rude? We do not plan on a second trip.

It was only okay. Crispy tacos had no flavor and everything on my plate was more cold than warm. Took an hour and a half for our food to arrive, but gave us free drinks. The appetizer came the same time as our meal. Honestly the chips and salsa before the meal was the best part of the meal. Staff was friendly but not very attentive.

Our reservation was at 7 o’clock and re arrived at 7:10pm, they took our order at 7:30 (everything was fine at this point). But our appetizers didn’t get to our table until 9 and the entré until 9:45. And even after that one of the dishes was cooked wrong and had to send it back to the kitchen. The food tasted good, don’t get me wrong on that but the service was bad having on mind that the place wasn’t full

We are from our of town. My son got the seafood burrito. He said it was pretty good. It was a bit overpriced at $26. I ordered the shrimp Chile relleno. Again $26. I've never seen so much oil on a plate. Had to be a quarter cup. The chef came out and brought me another plate but it was still overcooked. The pepper was destroyed with too much frying, oil and soggy breading. I would not recommend any dish with a stuffed pepper

I'm really not sure why there are any good reviews. The biggest problem by far was the water. The water at this place is disgusting. It is sulfurous and pretty much undrinkable. Worse yet, when we asked for seltzer instead, it wasn't bottled. They just carbonated the same disgusting undrinkable tap water so it was horrible with bubbles. When we asked for bottled water it was warm. Just taken out of a package of bottles under the bar. We each had a margarita. They were all made with ice from the horrid tap water so they were all terrible. Even before the ice melted they tasted weak and watered down. We had variations of the burrito and they were okay, but bland. Not bad, but not at all interesting. Certainly not great. They needed hot sauce which was provided in tiny individual plastic cups by request. The view that Skytop is known for is ruined by thick overgrown brush right past the balcony, so for the most part you can't even see anything anyway. The bill for three drinks, three entrees, and the seltzer waters came out to $126. So aside from not being very good, they were also very expensive. Kingston has lots of great options for quality food. Don't waste your money here.

So seeing almost 5 star reviews we were very hopeful and a nice view. You can rate a Mexican restaurant by its beans and look at the photos from other clients, I have had much better out of a can. The only thing authentic were the chips and the skimpy amount of free salsa, beyond that americanized Mexican. Over priced also my 26 dollar fajitas were a greasy mess with hot house tomatoes. Also no one in the place really and slow service, asked for hot sauce it never came. Everyone was nice though.

Service was horrible. Waitress forgot our drinks. Dinner came before our drinks, and our dinners didn't even come out all that fast. We were never asked for any refills on our chips and salsa while we waited for our food. We had the enchiladas and quesadillas and we all that the food was very bland for a Mexican restaurant. The jalepeno they served with the meal weren't even that strong. Waitress gave us our check and we had to go up to the bar to pay. Would have been nice to see the waitress more then twice during our meal. No plans of going back.

The margaritas I don’t believe had any tequila in them. The only redeeming things were the view and the friendly service but we won’t be back.

Went for Dinner yesterday, 2nd x there, food came out in seconds which can only mean everything is on hot plates not cooked to order, they must have a cafeteria set up in the kitchen, I think board of health should pay them a visit, they said they were having live music, they didn’t, and waiter never came back to the table? 2 tables left because no one ever came to take their orders. If you are look for great food and service Look elsewhere don’t waste your time or money here!

Came in today. We were a 4 top. Place was empty. I ordered the steak and lobster medium rare. Steak was well done and the food took an hour. With that cook time it should have been perfect. Won't be going back unfortunately. The setting and view was beautiful though but that's the only good thing.
