Love this place and their pasta salad! Super fast but very friendly staff. I always stop here when I am in the area.

Great sandwiches and the staff is super nice! Bread is super soft and fresh. The cheesy Potato soup lived up to its name. It was super cheesy, hearty, and delicious! Perfect for a cold rainy afternoon!

Being from the east coast, a good sandwich shop out here is hard to find. I don't have to do anymore looking however because I've found the Trolley Stop Deli. This place has sandwiches that completely remind me of home. It's a small cozy shop with nice people and every sandwich is made to order. Gotta love the rotating selection of different types of turkey. The sandwiches all come with this pasta salad that they make and it's literally the best pasta salad I've had in my life.

We love it here. Everything is fresh and delicious. My kids love the sandwiches as well. I only wish they stopped using styrofoam cups and boxes. The pasta salad is amazing!

This Deli is so delicious!!! I am obsessed with their pasta salad - it is next level. I would have never ordered it, but it came with my tuna wrap one day. They put this really unique creamy sauce on it right before they serve it to you and I can't put my finger on what flavors are included, but I could eat it everyday. I now will even order just a side of it on its own. Their tuna salad is really yummy too. They add apple and just a little bit of egg. Everything here is high quality. Those are just two of my favorite things right now. What a wonderful place to eat.

People fight over if everyone got "equal" portions when we do bring it home. It's just the best I've ever had. And even kids will eat it!! I have a niece who might be the pickiest eater in California and even she munches away happily at this. Their sandwiches are also great don't get me wrong. I'm a creature of habit though and rarely try anything other than the California and since going vegetarian 3 years ago - now I just go in for pasta salad. The staff is always attentive even when they're busy. The prices rock. Seriously. I can get a pound of the pasta salad for WAY less than the grocery store and this is a million times tastier. They have some seating if you want to eat there and the murals of the city are fun to look at. The outdoor seating is lovely on a summer day and is shaded so you don't bake. But seriously please do yourself a favor and try out the pasta salad. It's really that good.

I discovered this deli because there is a uniform store that I go to several times a year. Every single time I go to the uniform store, I grab a sandwich from here. I am fairly particular about my deli sandwiches and this place is excellent. I always get turkey and the meat and cheese is very good quality. There is a large selection of sandwiches to choose from. One of the other things I absolutely love about this deli is that you get a side of pasta salad and it is excellent. So yummy! I look forward to it every time I get a sandwich. This is my last year going to this uniform store; but the deli is just about 12 minutes from my office and I will make a point to get sandwiches from here in the future. They are well worth the 12 minute drive and the prices are very reasonable these days.

Great guy who runs the place. A little gem in the La Mesa area. The california turkey sandwich is AMAZING. But if you wanna level up the sandwich (add sprouts)😍 also the potato soup is delicious. I moved to Las Vegas and when I go back to SD I always swing by. I dont think you will be disappointed.

I drive 45 mins just for the chicken curry salad.....best thing you can put in your mouth......sometime I do the drive to only find out they are out of chicken curry for the day... if they had it available regardless of when I arrived they would definitely have 5 stars.....but since that's not the case I can only rate them as 4 stars. A small, fun place for lunch. Enthusiast staff who offered lots of suggestions. The pasta salad was wonderful. A bit of confusion over a sandwich order (supposed to be Canadian bacon, got bacon bacon instead) was quickly fixed with a smile!

It does feel a little cramped when busy. My favorite is the killer club, though that's probably because I love bacon!

Good food and service. Pasta salad that comes with the sandwich is great. If you pay with a credit card they sneak in an extra fee right before you scan your card though.

I had the Chicken Italiano with pasta salad. It was a tasty sandwich of fair proportion for the price. The side of pasta salad was larger than expected, a full 1 cup measurement. I was pleased with the quality of the food. The food was still hot when I arrived at home. The pasta salad had a nice mesquite taste to it. I would eat here again if mgmt cleaned up the joint. But it is a dirty deli... I understand it's a popular and busy deli, but the back prep counter, the floor, the cans of drinks and fridges were crusty with aged dirt, and mysterious grime. I havent seen a place this icky before... at least not in the main customer area. I cant imagine the standard for the back kitchen. :( Lastly, please include a price menu for drinks. It would be fair to the consumer. Couldn't find one, it's too busy to sit there and ask about every darned can.

The sandwiches we ordered had high quality meat and cheese. They were good, but not excellent. My biggest disappointment was the excessive use of Styrofoam. The sandwich boxes, cups, and bowls were all Styrofoam. I am huge on using recyclables and being as green as possible. I won't be back.

Pretty good sandwiches, but could be better. For example, I really like the light & dark rye bread for the Ruben, but some how sandwich left me wishing for a change. Better cheese, better sauerkraut and maybe more corned beef. Overall I would say worth stopping by, but not my favorite Deli.

I've eaten here before and I love the pasta salad. The menu for the pasta salad ingredients is different than what is in the pasta salad. So ask what is in it before you buy incase you have allergies. I believe the secret ingredient is terragon.

Pastrami sandwich looked and tasted fresh but my appetite was significantly diminished when the preparer (owner? person training the cashier) put on gloves to prepare food and then stopped to work the register with gloved hands to assist trainee. I saw the preparer 3 feet in front of me then go back to making the sandwich with the same, now filthy, gloved hands. I could barely eat my food despite wanting it very much. I'm just counting on my immune system to protect me now. Do you know all the places (body cavities) that people put their money? Sorry, I won't be back.

Just left with a hot pastrami sandwich. I only bought a half which was a whooping $2 cheaper than the whole. The hot pastrami was cold, everything was too salty , pasta salad inedible as too salty. All went in the trash before I left the parking lot. Has this place changed owners? Never again.

I was truly disappointed with my Pastrami and roast beef on rye sandwich. MEATLESS. 2 SUPER thinly sliced roast beef and 2 SUPER thinly slice pastrami. IT was so little meat that I had TO search for it literally to find what little meat that was there. it was my first time eating here I was thrilled to death to fine Pastrami and roast beef and the deli sandwich and I'm Deli guy and probably will be my last visit unless they put some meat on their sandwiches. afterall it $11 for a meatless sandwich I could buy all that the bread the lettuce tomato and everything for less than $11 it was horrible I got a soda and when the guy handed me the sandwich it felt like I was holding the air. I live here in La Mesa and I'm a deli guy but I had avoided the place cuz I had heard negative stuff about it but I decided to give it a chance anyway maybe I should have listened to the reviews and that was a year-and-a-half ago so if you're going to go there make sure you look at your sandwich and you're satisfied with it before you leave there cuz it was horrible. Otherwise stick to DZ Akins where they put enough meat on there to take home with you and it's worth every penny but I was trying to expand my experience closer to my house

came here a few times but was really disappointed with my recent visit. i ordered a couple sandwiches with a drink and chips. i didn't realize that they didn't put the sides in the bag so i called to get a refund on them. the cashier lady told me that most people know they had to pick them out themselves while picking up their order... why didn't she let me know that while she was watching my every move from the door to the counter?? i came back for refund but just felt unwelcome. so to that lady: just because "most people know" something doesn't mean non-regulars know. i'm most likely not gonna come back, especially with the unfriendly attitude.
