This piano bar and restaurant is a popular local spot with 60s live music Thursday through Sunday. American dishes and a full bar. No dance floor but that doesn't stop patrons from dancing.
The wonderful vintage atmosphere without the stuffiness. Pure charm, grace and fantastic food.
Old school restaurant and bar. Food is great as well as the service. Reasonably priced with good wine list and cocktails. Music is appropriate for the setting. One of our favorite places in La Quinta. Wonderful view from the front patio
The funnest piano bar in town. The food is great, the service is excellent, and the dessert was fantastic. 🍨 🥧
Unique piano bar restaurant, with limited tables which makes for a lively tight-knit atmosphere with high-quality custom drinks, top-shelf options, and classical menu options with a twist. Iconic Old Town La Quinta venue, there's nothing else like this!

An iconic place in La Quinta. Make sure to stay long enough to drink in the live piano music.
The Sandbar: A laid-back spot perfect for beach vibes and casual dining. Known for fresh seafood, tasty cocktails, and a relaxed atmosphere. Great for gatherings with friends or family. Service is friendly, and the outdoor seating adds to the fun, breezy experience. A solid choice for anyone wanting good food with a chill, coastal feel.
Went on a Wednesday and had the special Chicken parmigiana- very good ! Great piano entertainment
We attended a birthday dinner for a party of 15. Everyone ordered off the standard menu. The service was excellent from start to finish. The multiple appetizers and other menu offerings were very good. We will return either by ourselves or with another couple to experience more of the everyday dining experience and try other menu items. I'm not ready to give the food a five yet but I think I may get there. Certainly worth a return visit.
What a hidden gem- amazing atmosphere and entertainment. Food was excellent and top notch service.
We had a wonderful experience at The Sandbar and highly recommend this restaurant! The servers were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The menu was nicely varied. The food was very good quality and very well prepared. The ambiance is nice, moderate noise level without piano and singing, higher with. The piano player and singing were fun. We were there earlier in the evening, our server told us it get livelier later in the evenings with customers often chiming in to sing. Overall, a great restaurant, we will definitely will return!

The bean soup is perfect. I can't spell osobucco but it's delicious 😋

My family and I went there for our last night in la Quinta which was also my birthday. The service was amazing! Morgan was the best waitress and even brought out a dessert for my birthday. It was a great experience and we will be going back for sure!
My short ribs were delicious and it was a generous portion. Considering they were served with mashed potatoes and vegetables, the price was reasonable. My friend had the sole which was okay but rather soft and mushy. The entertainment was great and the patrons even sang along on a few songs.
A trip into the past but still relevant. Sandbar is a place that could have entertained the wack pack, celebrities and local mobsters. But even today, they pack in the crowds, serve great martinis and food that puts a smile on your face. Service is wonderful to cap things off. Highly recommended!

I wholeheartedly agree with one of the other reviewers, “People make a difference!”. Overall, The Sandbar in La Quinta is a mixed bag. On the positive side, the food is excellent—I’ve had the sautéed sole twice, and it was delicious both times. The live music is a highlight; Bill Baker keeps the energy up and the crowd entertained. I disagree with some of the other reviewers who complained about the average age of the clientele; I love seeing an older crowd out enjoying themselves! That said, be warned: it’s very loud. If you’re looking for a place to chat or have a meaningful conversation, this is not the spot. It’s more suited for those who want to enjoy live music with drinks and a meal without the expectation of much talking. In addition, tables are packed tightly together, making it hard to move through the dining room without bumping into others. And forget about pausing at another table to say hello or chat with fellow diners. The angry busser or hostile, female-presenting manager will yell at you to get out of the way. Overall, it feels cramped and chaotic. Prices are very high, and unfortunately, the service doesn’t match the cost. Although efficient and professional, service was also cold and unfriendly. The real downside of the experience, however, was the staff demeanor beyond our server. The overall staff attitude was cold, unwelcoming, and gave off the impression that guests are an inconvenience. If you're going for the food and music, it's worth it—but don't expect warmth from the staff or a welcoming atmosphere.

This place has plenty of fan faithful and I’m glad that is the case. Spirited musical entertainment and a vibrant bar scene make it worth the trip. Food is very average. Old school saucy preparations with very little creativity. Service is fine.
I don't see the hubbub about this place, the valet was a top notch dude, he has your car ready for you when you step out... But that's about it. The food is middling, way too much pasta on the shrimp scampi, and it was about what you would make in your own kitchen. There was deviled eggs, so that was a plus, which were decent, but the other options were boringly common. The other dinner options were typical fare for a "fancy" place that does nothing interesting besides the other pomp and circumstances that distract you. Was it good? Sure... Would I go back? No, it was aggravatingly forgettable for $300 for 5 people

This is the worst restaurant I’ve ever eaten at—seriously. I don’t leave bad reviews—but they need to be called out! Sent the $25 Shrimp Cocktail back—inedible and indescribable! Had the calamari instead—tasted like Mail-ordered food… Had the Sole with Brown Butter—absolutely terrible translucent old fish swimming in butter… I’m sick describing it. Chloe had the Chicken Piccata that was disgusting!! I can’t fully explain how bad this local restaurant is—obviously caters to the local ‘drinking crowd’ who happily call it home. I wasted $150 and urge you to not follow in my footsteps… hurts to post a bad review but you need to know.

First off we had a good time. Lemon Drops and Martinis from the bar 5 stars. Clam chowder was 2 stars. If they would have called it clam broth it would be 5 stars. It tasted fantastic. It had about 6 or 8 small clam pieces and that was it. No potatoes or any type of filler. I would call it clam bisque. I had the fried chicken. It was done perfectly, not rare or over done. Not a lot of flavor in the crust. I ate 2 out of 5 pieces. The vegetables looked fresh and the carrots were excellent. The broccoli was ice cold like it came out of the freezer and was just warmed up. I had a side of spinach that was excellent. Fresh, tasty and a great portion for the price. My wife had veal and she enjoyed it. Decent portion of veal cooked and seasoned perfectly. We will probably return again and further explore the menu.
Well. What can I say about the Sandbar. Recommended to us by a friend, now I'm questioning everything I thought I knew about this person. You don't go here for the food, it is underwhelming and very bland. However, the people watching and the Bill Baker show are fascinating. Service was great, drinks and deviled eggs were great. We also ordered the shishito peppers which had all the salt the other dishes did not. All around I might go back to the bar but the food won't bring me back.

Nothing like terrible service from Melanie and re-fired steak that waa microwaved. Wish we had Valerie as our waitress.
I was really looking forward to trying this place however when we showed up, they were closed for summer! It would be great if the hours were correct in Google as that is how most people decide where to eat when visiting a new town. Especially if you are going to close for months at a time! Very frustrating and disappointing to say the least.
