Our restaurant offers a unique blend of traditional Japanese cuisine and modern twists, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Our chefs take pride in crafting signature dishes, including sushi rolls that are both delicious and innovative - think fried oysters and cucumber-wrapped options for those watching their carbs. But what truly sets us apart is our commitment to exceptional service and a welcoming environment. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for a night out with friends, we can't wait to welcome you to Yamashiro Teriyaki.
Yamashiro Teriyaki is a popular Japanese restaurant known for its fresh, delicious sushi and attentive service. Customers rave about the friendly staff, especially Cindy, and the high quality of the fish. The atmosphere is welcoming and feels like home.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. It’s a tad pricey but well worth it! I left after my sushi roll and couple pieces of nigiri completely full(which I can’t normally say when I eat sushi). The portions are generous and I would recommend for a fun night out.
Yamashiro has been my fiancee's go-to Japanese restaurant for many years, and I got the absolute pleasure of finding out why last night. We had an amazing experience there from the start: truly exceptional customer service making you feel immediately like family and a great, low-key, safe, and joyous atmosphere. To top it all off, we had some of the best Japanese food in the LA area. We enjoyed salad, spicy edamame, miso soup, gyoza, curry and rice, a sashimi platter, soju, and sake all for reasonable prices and all prepared perfectly. We will be going back as much as we can to enjoy the entirety of Yamashiro's offerings. Love this place!!
The staff is very attentive, but not overwhelming. The sashimi is buttery soft and generously cut. Delicious, but a tad on the pricey side. However, for great quality, it was worth it.
I LOVE this place! Probably said this many times but my family and I frequent here often. It’s right in the riviera village at the corner before you hit PCH. The owner is the sweetest woman and never ceases to give spectacular service! The fish is also super fresh and have never been dissapointed. My favorite is the sashimi no rice roll and the sashimi yellowtail. But other notable features are the gyoza, cowboy roll, aloha roll, and the baked lobster roll (I could go on but you get what I’m saying) for dessert they have bomb green tea cheesecake and tiramisu! Would recommend this to anyone visiting or local 🤌🏼
The sushi is delicious. The fish is so buttery in your mouth. We got a piece of matcha cheescake that was delicious too! The service is excellent, and the waitresses and the owner are very attentive. There were plenty of tables on a Thursday night, so no need for reservations.
Friendly staff, huge portions, quality fish. Delicious.
One of the best Omakase (chef's choice) sashimi platters I've enjoyed in awhile. The restaurant has a fresh selection, including our favorites of sweet shrimp, albacore, Hamachi yellowtail and scallops. I loved the presentation with the whole deep fried head and artistic design with the tail and other special aesthetic details that made this a work of art, not just lunch. I hope to come back sometime soon! Our server kept our cups full of green tea and was attentive but not intrusive. They even gave us a complimentary matcha green tea cheesecake at the end, with cold grapes. Definitely sit indoors when it gets breezy, but the door is open to allow for fresh air and people watching.
Osaka Sushi never disappoints! I’ve been here a few times, and the service is always amazing. The staff is friendly, attentive, and makes sure you have a great dining experience. I usually go for the Premium Rainbow Roll, which is consistently fresh and delicious, but this time, we decided to try their happy hour menu—and it did not disappoint! The serving sizes were perfect, and the variety of rolls available is impressive. If you’re a roll lover like me, you’ll definitely find something to enjoy here. The food is always beautifully presented and tastes as good as it looks. Definitely one of my favorite sushi spots!
We were there for lunch. Have been here before but looks under new ownership. Service was great. Gosh was fresh. Rolls were very good. Overall great experience
Such a great sushi place! The food was great & the service was exceptional. The prices are comparable to other sushi places and the rolls are big! We also had the green tea cheesecake! Yum! Totemo oishi
Amazing food and unique and healthy options! If you are watching your carbs, they have rolls that are wrapped in cucumber or soy paper instead of rice. Such a nice option and they tasted incredible! We had a variety of dishes ordered at our table. The jalapeño appetizer was incredible and not something you’d typically see at a Japanese Restaurant. The bento box was a fantastic way to try 3 different proteins that intrigued us without ordering way too much food. The edamame has a sauce that’s on the sweeter side, but is still quite enjoyable. The portion sizes are wonderful and the staff is very freshly and attentive. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
The food here is excellent! Service was great, polite and fast. Drinks were also good! Would highly recommend to anyone in the area wanting good quality, fresh sushi!
All the food we ordered was delicious. The staff was very attentive and friendly, they would check in regularly. Roll selection was ample also
Great food. Everything was fresh. Cindy provided great service. We will definitely be back
Food was banging! Waitress was super friendly and fun. Rolls came out quick. Baked salmon roll was 🔥
We stopped by on Saturday around 1pm didn’t know what to expect. For our surprise it was wonderful experience. Food was coming as we shared everything between us . I have nothing bad to say about anything.Simply delicious and definitely will return.

Excellent food, service is top-notch, nice little patio space. We've been here many times and it's consistently good, never disappoints.
in town briefly, staying at a local Redondo Beach hotel... had an urge for sushi but didn’t want to drive. found Asaka Sushi and Grill online. placed an order and waited for delivery. delivery was super speedy! food is amazing!!! so glad I chose them. everything was fresh, fresh, fresh. miso soup is perfect. sashimi and sushi hit the spot! definitely try the spicy chopped scallop roll, you will not be disappointed. without a doubt, we will be ordering here next time we’re in town. Thank You!
This place was great! The staff was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was great and the prices were reasonable. Go!
Great dining experience. Their sushi are very fresh and well made. The rice is cooked properly and lets one enjoy a perfect balance of the rolls and classic 🍣
I always have a great time when I come here. Honestly, I can't find a better sushi restaurant in LA.
I really liked this place. Very polite staff, delicious food, very clean. Thank you very much!
Awesome service. Great menu. Friendly staff. I live only a few blocks away from Asaka Sushi & Grill, and it is definitely on our favorite restaurant list.
I've ordered takeout/pickup a could of times on Postmates and the food has been great. Might just be the hours I was there, but all 3 times the place has been fairly dead inside with like 2 customers.
AMAZING FOOD! Very clean and fresh! Chef's and staff are friendly, and generous! Chefs made and gave my family and I a bunch of food on the house.... Amazing and great!! 5*'s!!
They have a weekend happy hour that starts at noon! 2 people sushi and drinks, $61
Best service and hospitality. Food was off the charts delicious! Best sushi in the South Bay! Don't miss this place
Excellent meal with a great atmosphere curated by an amazing hostess.
Awesome service and food! We especially liked the shrimp dimsum and Gyozas. Everything was great!
Very, VERY Impressed! Fresh, yummy and high end presentation. Better and less expensive than the other sushi restaurants in The Village. Highly recommend.
Really warm and welcoming service and sushi was super well priced and served intricately
Great sushi spot! Amazing service overall, would highly recommend!
Cindy is a wonderful delightful server! The sushi was amazing! See you guys on Sunday!!
The food here is wonderfully tasty and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend the mackerel and saltwater eel. We also ordered the dumplings and side salad that were just perfect. The best Sushi dining experience in South Bay so far. Will definitely be back again soon. Really happy we made the decision to stop here.
Great atmosphere. Absolutely wonderful food. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. We sat outside on the patio and didn't feel crammed up close to any other table. It was an all around enjoyable experience. Beginning to end. Highly recommend this place. Cant wait to go back.
This is a really good restaurant. The food is really good! The service is really good. The servers come to the table a bit too often for my taste. Other than that? I highly recommend this restaurant.
Been coming since we moved to thaw area more than 12 years ago. It's great sushi and you can't beat the view. It's a caring staff, the service and food are consistently good. You will won't regret a stop here.
We go back time and again. Service is always great and so many great memories. Love the (non rice) soy paper rolls.
I really like this place. They are very friendly and helpful. They have a nice patio, so Covid might not be such a worry. That is all very important, but most of all the food is very good. I always get the Tempura Shrimp and Vegetables dinner. As I recall, soup and salad come with it. Parking can be tricky in Riviera Village, but it helps that Asaka is at the far end, not in the middle crush of all the other restaurants.
Update: I stopped by yesterday for much. Gracious owner checked on me and my dogs as I ordered some grilled chicken for my two dogs as we were far from home after hiking in PV. Had fried oysters again ... Delish And sushi which was delicious! I stopped by as I was craving some sushi. I have been before and food has been good. Today was just as good. Salmon sushi was fresh and the frier oysters oh my. So good. Excellent service and I so appreciate they were cool with my emotional support dog sitting with me at outdoor dining. Thank you!
The service and food were very good. The staff made us feel very welcome, and they were very polite. The food was great. We had the family boat and some Korean BBQ for appetizers.
New Management!!! Awesome service, bigger portions, and ample seating for larger parties. The actual dish size, like the size of the plate itself, is ginormous and takes up too much room on the table. Otherwise sushi quality has improved, as well as portion sizes.
Food is really good especially grilled fish and sushi!!! owner and staff are so nice and friendly. The restaurant is clean. This place is perfect for lunch and dinner!!!!
Great date night spot! Baja roll is my personal favorite as well as the crème brûlée for dessert. Always feel welcomed and appreciated by the staff and owner.
Wowwww! I used to come here (to get a break from pizza) when I worked at Pedone’s and I’d get a sushi burrito every single time. Well, 10 years later and it is JUST as good if not better. I can’t wait to come back AGAIN.
I came her with my large family and they had Great proportions, fabulous presentation and wow, the sushi 🍣 was amazing. Service was outstanding. Highly recommend and if I could give them an 11 I would.
Such a peaceful and delicious meal with amazing service.
The Bento boxes are perfect for lunch! And their team has wonderful customer service!
Love this place! The fish is always fresh, the Josh Cabernet is the house wine, and my kids love their chicken teriyaki !
If you are looking for amazing atmosphere, excellent service, location and excellent food, this place is for you. It been our favorite place consistently for 2 years and is 10 out if 10. Try their lobster baked roll and these will blow you away. Today we also tried no rice sushi wrapped in cucumber and these are amazing for calorie conscious people. They are delicious!
Great location & menu. Delicious food, and the server exceeded expectations. Try the sushi burrito. Special touches from the owner highlighted our experience.
My family loves this restaurant. The food is delicious, and the service and the atmosphere are very nice. It always feels like home. We also get sushi to go from this restaurant, and it is equally delicious.
We really enjoyed our lunch at Asaka today, food was delicious and the service was great. We sat outside on the patio, indoor and outdoor seating available. The Riviera Village can get very crowded on the weekends, the building Asaka is in offers parking around back. We ordered two bento boxes one salmon and one teriyaki chicken, great flavor. You have to try.
Absolutely amazing service and food. Delicious, beautifully presented, wonderful staff, great atmosphere. If I could give 10 stars I would
Such an elegant sushi place. Been here many times, always incredible.
We went to try out the new menu and what a great idea, We had the happy hour sushi and beers and everything was so delicious and the presentation was gorgeous! We will make this our new spot for sushi, and can’t wait to try the Ramen and all the other choices on the menu. PS outdoor seating is wonderful during the summer months, plenty of umbrellas to go around. Fabulous service to boot
Love this location. The staff is always so friendly. They have fun goodies for the kids. The kids meal also seemed pretty good although it came with a lot! Rolls are delicious. Love the spicy edamame. Food always comes out quickly.
Went to Yamashiro for the first time today! I have to say this is probably one of the best sushi places I have ever been to. The fried oysters were delicious! We ordered three different rolls and all of them were just beautiful from a presentation and artistry perspective, but tasting them was even better! The volcano roll was served on grapefruit slices, which made them very colorful and the scallops were cooked perfectly. The Yamashara roll was not only beautiful but it's the first time I have ever had mango with my sushi rolls and it actually added a really nice dimension of tropical fruit to already super fresh tasting tuna and avocado. The crispy roll had fried onions that were somehow not greasy, which was surprising. I'm wondering if they were air fried? But really great addition to texture for the rolls. We also had the yellowtail collar, which was cooked flawlessly. Oftentimes, yellowtail collar can you overcooked so part of it can be fairly dry. This caller was moist all the way around, perfect pockets of fish fat, and a very light unami salty flavor. The last thing we had, which I think was very fortunate because they don't always have it, was the Japanese tuna Ono which was cooked in a wonderful miso sauce. I know I keep going on about this spot, but these rules were truly unique and I eat a lot of sushi, lol! Did I mention that we had a wonderful server, which I didn't get her name, but she's a Japanese woman that may have been the owner. I'm not sure, but her spirit was so respectful and refreshing and we loved her kindness and attentiveness. Really great service! I can't wait to go here again next time I visit the Redondo Beach area!!!

My family loves this restaurant. The food is delicious, and the service and the atmosphere are very nice. It always feels like home. We also get sushi to go from this restaurant, and it is equally delicious.
This is in a great location and the food was pretty good. Servers were friendly although service was just a little slow on a Saturday night around 7:30pm. Some seating is joint table....so not private in all spaces. But environment overall is really nice. We will be back.

One of my favorite Sushi restaurants! And they have brown rice!! I love the dynamite roll and my guy gets the California Bento with teriyaki chicken. My grand daughters love the miso soup too.
I love their Benton boxes. Good food and polite services. I came here with my six month old and the staff was very friendly.
Best Japanese food in South Bay, very slow service though. I've waited over 2.5 hours for a pickup in the past. But the food... Oh the food sooo makes up for It.
To whom it may concern, This location has a very friendly atmosphere. It is always very clean. They have the best takoyaki Los Angeles County. My wife and I enjoyed their service. The older woman that might be the manager or owner is extremely kind and attentive. We love this location for the food and customer service. One thing that I would suggest is for them to carry Heineken 0.0 for non-alcoholic beer drinkers.
Very well-prepared Asian cuisine. Designer plating of the sushi and other dishes. Excellent presentation! The shrimp tempura mixed with veggies was awesome due to the perfectly fried, lightly crisped outer coating! And the delicate crab puff appetizer was oooh so good we ordered another. Efficient friendly staff made us feel very welcome. Love this charming A-one Redondo Beach eatery which is situated in lovely, peaceful, polished area! It rocks!
This is my go-to spot! They always shower me and my guest with gratitude least not mention great food. I'm not going to tell you what to order because I've never been disappointed by any of the new dishes I've tried. I definitely recommend!
Great food, but we arrived with a party of eight and there was inadequate seating inside. The staff scrambled to push together tables outside. The sun was starting to set, but still intense enough to make it uncomfortable (glare, heat, etc.). I had to assist with setting up umbrellas. Otherwise, I would have given fives stars. If you have a small party, I don't foresee any problems. Recommend for parties of four or less.
The food was delicious and was presented beautifully. My only complaint is that they seemed to struggle with the rush and the fact there were two larger groups (5+ people). It was over an hour before all of us received our food. This was my first time there so they may have just been low staffed that night.
We were trying to go across the street to a different place that I heard rave reviews about, but it was closed so we ended up here which was fine.I think we ended up ordering not quite right. We got the buy one, get 1 roll half price so we were a little full.It was nice, but we should have tried.Their sushi also had the seaweed cucumber salad which was great
Pretty good sushi and great staff. Very welcoming and attentive. Great location in Redondo.

Used to love this place under the prior owner. The patio is dog friendly, which is a big plus, but the food quality and service have declined a bit recently.
This place used to be absolutely amazing but they changed ownership and it’s just not the same. They try hard but the service is just always sooo slow. They need more staff on. I get it that they are trying to save labor but you can’t sacrifice service. I mean it’s really really slow. The cooks smoke outside and that looks disgusting. As far as the food goes, it’s actually really good and the prices are great too but all in all, it’s just not up to par. The one in Palos Verdes is privately owned and is better run. And they don’t allow dogs anymore! Every other restaurant in South Redondo allows them in their patio except this place.
WORST Restaurant in the South Bay. Last week I went for dinner but all went BAD! I parked in the back parking lot (approx 15 parking spaces with 2 cars parked) and ran next door to grab a cup of coffee while I waited for my wife to show up. By the time she got there I learned the Management had towed my car! Are you Kidding me? Two hours later and $337.50 to get my car out of Impound in Gardena. No explanation from management!! The day after they put up NEW Tow Away signs. Stay away from this place and these BAD people.
Went here because a friend told me abt it. Once we were seated they asked if we wanted ginger and wasabi. My husband said yes and before I made up my mind the server was gone. She returned with one dish with a few pieces of ginger and wasabi. It took some time before our orders were taken so my little one and I ate three ginger. When I requested more she returned with the same amount as before which isn't much. I ordered the miso soup and super salmon roll, which based on the description comes with salmon, cucumber, avocado and cream cheese topped with salmon. I asked for easy rice and to the chefs credit it was made with easy rice. It was also made with easy salmon. There was more cream cheese than anything. The salmon on top was so thin you see right through it. I ordered the miso soup sans green onion. It was also sans tofu. They food is served with such sparingly ingredients that I won't return there.
Horrible, horrible food. Horrible. The salad wasn't cold and was mostly dandelion greens. We like ginger dressing, but their dressing just wasn't good. We ordered pan fried gyoza. They were burnt black on one side and the other sides hadn't touched the pan at all. We ordered teriyaki chicken breasts. The chicken was gummy, old and absolutely inedible. I had visions of kitchen nightmares. The sauce was runny. The rice was edible, thankfully, so we had a plain white rice dinner. Even the water tasted horrible. Sorry, but we won't be back. Can't recommend.
The original owner’s of Asaka's were great, now they are racist’s! THEY ACCUALLY PHOTOGRAPHED my face. and had called the police, that were outside across the street parked waiting to bust me before a crime has even been committed. “Please read on:” I am a single white male, and a sushi connoisseur of Sushi, having been spoiled by Japan’s finest Sushi Master’s that came to Los Angeles area in the 70’s when this food was all brand new. I am employed full time, and very good at my profession, and because of this I can afford a large sushi dinner with several courses, while having a Japanese Beer, in the traditional style. I went into Asados on my Saturday eve. While eating, I had to overhear the female Hispanic waitress say, “He’s just here to drink” And meanwhile I was orderinging 50$ worth of nigiri sushi. These Chinese people who bought the place, just want to give you all of your sushi on one plate, and be done with you, NEXT! at once, no style.= no fun. Then the Chef I overhear in the kitchen say, “He’s going to run”. Then while turning too look at the Basketball Game, The Hispanic water boy take’s my picture with his cell phone, while walking by, I heard the shutter noise. Then I ordered some fresh Toro, and what I was served I actually ate to see the sushi cutter’s face, that tasted more like a fish tail. I will never go back.
Had to change my rating. Asaka why did you change your happy hour? You shouldn't have changed your happy hour. You were just starting to get solid business. Haven't been back since.
Overall the experience I had at this restaurant was pretty bad, I would not recommend this place to anyone. (One Star for service/management) The play by play - First, it took a good 20 minutes to get menus and water. When we finally were able to order, we realized we had gotten our sushi rolls approximately 90 minutes after we arrived. However, one individual had ordered non-sushi and this dish came out right away. Leaving one person with food and 8 others with nothing for over 45 minutes, we asked if they could reheat the food in which they refused. When the rolls did slowly come out, the server had messed up one of the rolls, when they were informed about the mistake they had said sorry and gave it to us for free but the actual order will be very late because now it’s at the ‘back of the line.’ resulting in one person to get their food during dessert (now 2 hours later) but when it came out the second time the order was still wrong... by then it was time to go home. Thank you for taking the price off of the one sushi role you messed up on twice and over 1.5-2 hours late on. Also, thank you to the lady who was always smiled and apologized for all the mistakes and waiting, compared to your other coworkers. If you had a suggestion box - you don’t need the flower/paper/leaf decorations for the sushi rolls. You might save time? That’s not why we like to eat sushi rolls. We want quality fish and rice in a timely manner :) Disclaimer - they apologized for being under staffed. They seemed to have 3 sushi chefs and about 4-5 individuals running the floor but sure what a ‘normal Saturday night staff for this place should be’ So, this rating may be more towards the management staff and not the sushi chefs. Sushi was good, just unfortunate we spent 2+ hours at a sushi restaurant waiting for 75% of it.
Service was awful. Person who sat us was stern and literally hit us with menues when they were putting them down in front of us. Ordered the chicken and it came out cold. No service for refills or to check up on me or my group. Had to literally go up and ask for refills because the server wasn’t checking on the table and instead avoided us. We sat in between 2 uncleaned tables and the tables were never cleaned. Service was absolutely terrible and food was mediocre and chicken came out cold. Not going to eat here again. Do not recommend.
Beware, the menu prices are wrong. Regardless of whether you download their menu from their website or use the Google menu, once you arrive at the restaurant you'll see that their sushi prices are actually DOUBLE. (online menu is 2 pc per order, in person menu is 1 pc per order, but they don't tell you when you order) Server blamed the "new management" and said it was up to them whether they wanted to fix their website menu. Apparently the correct menu is on Yelp.
menu is deceiving! we ordered the chicken robata and beef teriyaki bento special. the menu says (and pictures show) chicken and scallions. we received just chicken... no scallions . the manager explained to us that "most people don't like scallions so we didn't include it" ....... *scratches head* we tell her "its okay", as the manager did not seem to care for making the situation better. as for the beef teriyaki, pictures show beef and broccoli.... we received just beef. we mentioned this to our waitress, and she told us its "kale" in those photos.... kale.... and she Pointed out that they included 1 piece of kale as our garnish.
