I truly love and enjoy this place. First and foremost, the location is amazing—and if you can catch the sunset on the rooftop, do yourself a favor and do it. The food is good; I’ve never had a complaint, though I’m not a big foodie. Their service is also top-notch, from the valet to the servers—always a great experience. What really keeps me coming back are the live shows, especially the reggae nights on Sundays. I’m here for it every time. Highly recommend Mozambique.

Our families had the absolute best time celebrating our wedding at Mozambique! The service was incredible, the food and wine were outstanding, and Greg was amazing — he made the entire evening feel so special. We loved having the private patio for our celebration, and this restaurant will forever hold such a special place in our hearts. Highly recommend Mozambique for any special occasion!

We've been trying to come to this restaurant forEVER... WE FINALLY MADE IT TODAY. The food was absolutely amazing. Try the M-Fries...spicy kick on warm and crispy fries. So good. I also recommend the sampler platter as well.... the sausage, prawns everything was amazing. We DID sub the Chicken on the sampler for bacon.... just a personal preference but EVERYTHING was great. PROTIP: ASK FOR KENT to be your server! Request him when you make your reservation. He's an experience! Full of great stories, knowledgeable about Laguna, excellent service and tasty, descriptive menu recommendations.... he's a great compliment to everything on the experience. DON'T DO LIKE US AND PUT IT OFF, GET TO MOZAMBIQUE! Also do the rooftop!! Great beach views and a nice breeze. Bring a jacket if you get cold easily.

This was a lovely surprise, because it was a taste from home - Cape Town. We were greeted and seated outside the Parrot room immediately! We ordered from the happy hour menu, and had chicken wings, calamari with sweet potato fries, beef samoosas, and a beef pie! There was more than 1 seating areas, and they upstairs restaurant had live music. We left with the parrot in the cage saying ‘hallo’. FYI Valet is $10 for up to 3 hours, I’m not sure about street parking! We will be back!

The rooftop restaurant and bar is located in the heart of Laguna Beach and is in a complex with a few other establishments including a lounge with live music. The rooftop restaurant has incredible ocean views and a fresh vibrant menu with seafood, salads, and some amazing burgers with 10 oz. of kobe!! Now we are healthy disciplined so we passed on the fantastic looking burger and opted for the ceviche, portobello stack, and seafood salad. The ceviche was delicious and extremely fresh, shrimp was great quality and clean flavor. The portobello stack was a beautiful dish and tasted equally great. The seafood salad was loaded with delicious scallops and shrimp as well as lobster and some grilled veg. Overall the service was excellent with plenty of staff making sure everything was to our liking and giving solid recommendations. Even the small things like extremely clean restrooms and professional responsive valet staff were very much appreciated. Overall experience was a top notch lunch with great quality food and service at a very fair price.. it feels like they threw in the beautiful ocean view for free just for us!

This place has a really unique ambience. Really nice sunset views from the rooftop. The people there were very welcoming, inviting, and served us with a smile on their face. Everything you ordered was prepared really well. It’s a rare treat to have a place that uses peri peri spice, but Mozambique made the most of it! The samosas were spicy, but other than that, everything was pretty well balanced. Definitely get the rice— it has a unique flavor too. My Mojito tasted delicious, so I ended up getting two!

I made a reservation here and went to the rooftop only to be told rather rudely that reservations are not for the rooftop and that I needed to go downstairs. I went downstairs and the poor waiter was stuck basically handling the whole floor by himself to do staffing issues. He did his best but the experience was less than ideal. The food was okay. As a frequent SoCal visitor from CT, it is a one and done for me.

I went there and had one thought in mind. I wanted a good steak. And let me tell you they did not disappoint! I got the ribeye and the Ceasars salad with grilled chicken and it was DIVINE. Is it the most expensive piece of meat on the menu? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes. My father and I shared the steak and the salad so it saved us some money. Not the cheapest for sure but a 18 oz ribeye being 75 isnt honestly too crazy for the view it had. Going during sunset was a beautiful view as well. They have live music on the second floor and the third floor is rooftop dining. It was a little loud but honestly it wasnt a problem at all.

This place has great views from the roof top! Our food and drinks were good, we dodged not order much, just a few things to snack on to watch the sunset. However, our service could have been a lot better. We watched the bartender prepare our drinks after they sat at the bar for at least 5 minutes. Our food came out fast and incorrect but, it was a simple fix.

Wonderful atmosphere and service, but the food was mediocre at best. We were celebrating a friend's bday so there were several of us and we all felt that our meals were not very good and lacking in flavor. We had to ask for salt and pepper. It was strange because the plates looked so colorful, beautiful, looked like it would be full of flavor and then every single part of the plate had little to no flavor. I see a lot of reviews saying the same thing. I think that they should take note of this and make some changes in the kitchen.

Great rooftop location with an amazing ocean view! They offer valet parking but there's street meter parking if you can find a spot. The entrance has a large bird cage that has a Toco Tucan (Nancy) and two Macaws (Beira & Pemba). Make sure to stop by to check them out and say hi The building has multiple restaurants on each level with Mozambique located on the rooftop but they also have indoor seating in the level below the roof. But the rooftop is where it's at! The menu has good options to choose from. I got the salmon, also tried the traditional Southern African pie with beef and mushrooms. As for appetizer, we got the ceviche which was good but nothing special about it. I've had better elsewhere. Not sure how that ties into Mozambique cuisine. The Samosa was yummy. The Peri Peri chicken was also yummy but not sure how that ties into Mozambique cuisine. The salmon was good but there's nothing particularly special about it. I thought it would have an African touch...but it was just an ordinary salmon dish. Don't get me wrong...it was good, I was just expecting more. Oh...it came with a side of French fries... They were a bit stale... Also nothing special about them... I've had better at fast food restaurants. The southern African pie is where it's at...it was yummy and met my expectation of something out of the ordinary. Be careful it's very hot inside. Service was good but a bit slow. Maybe because we had a large group. The waiter was working hard. I think they need to have someone other staff assist when it's a large group. Prices are what you would expect at a Laguna Beach restaurant with a scenic view. They have a live band and a DJ in the evening (around 8:30pm) I believe Thursdays - Sundays. Unfortunately, we had to leave around 6:30pm Overall, I enjoyed the experience. Worth going for a special occasion or at least once to check it out.

I was served mediocre room temp food, one drink and then it was like I was not in the room. My drink has been empty for 7 minutes, not to mention it has been low over 10 minutes. A sad experience/, then the live music never happened as well on a Saturday night. Seriously, the waiter just walked by and it is like he doesn't know I'm here... except when he brings the check I assume.

I am writing to express my disappointment with the service provided by the manager on Sunday 3/01/2026 around 2pm. We were not greeted with a smile upon arrival and were quickly dismissed. Despite having made a reservation, we were not allowed to check in with the host. Instead, we were told to go upstairs, where service was supposedly being provided. However, I approached the front desk and was helped by the hostess, who was friendly and accommodating. After our meal, we visited the bathrooms on the lower level. While waiting for my husband, I sat down on the leopard couch at the entrance. Unfortunately, the same manager approached me and asked, in a somewhat abrasive tone, if I had been helped, seeming to imply that I should not be sitting there. The owner of the establishment should be aware of this incident, as the manager's behavior suggests a lack of enthusiasm for providing good service.
