Chinese Red House is a popular stop near the 5 freeway, known for its fresh, made-to-order Chinese food and friendly service, especially from Linda. Many praise the large portions and tasty dishes like the house fried rice and hot and sour soup. Some find the food inconsistent or fried in old oil.

Very nice mom & pop Chinese restaurant. Very good food in a traditional menu with many items to choose from. We had the egg rolls, fried shrimp (has coconut in the breading), egg flower soup, and ma po tofu with steamed rice. The portions were generous, ment to allow sharing of the different dishes. The flavors were excellent; I particularly enjoyed the ma po tofu (had a very good balance of spice, flavor, and heat). There was enough left over for us to take some home. The service was very kind and helpful, and made our experience that much better. Quiet relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely mark this place for a future visit. Thank you China Red House.
Hard to see at night, but they have truck parking across the street if you dont want to walk from the pilot. Love this place and really good flavor and not just generic food
Truck Driver's Paradise! This is some of the best Chinese food I've run across! Rice was Perfect! Also , the sauces are not sugared like Panda does..it's authentic flavor! Totally Yummy! I had the Green Pepper Beef minus the onion, everything is cooked to order! (Onions have a side effect on me, dare not eat them on the road...LoL) As shown below!
Ordered takeout. Inside is very very clean. You can place your order on a touch pad if your paying card. The chow mein is just what I like. HUGE PORTIONS. Egg rolls are so good and crispy. Lots of options.
down home Chinese food served by dedicated staff. I used to camp at McGill and would stop at Red House to fuel up before heading out. last time I was there, the waiter came over and directed me to finish my appetizer before the main dish came, reminding me of a loving but firm grandparent.
I ordered a house special chow main it was good in size and a lot meat on it Thank you!!!
This is my second time I was at this restaurant. As the first one, from the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel incredibly welcome with their warm smiles and attentive service. The food was absolutely phenomenal! Every dish we ordered was bursting with authentic flavors and cooked to perfection.
Nice American style Chinese place. Kung pao tofu was 10/10. Friendly service in a modest but welcoming building. Also tried broccoli shrimp which was good, broccoli was perfect. Egg rolls are solid with an excellent sauce.
The food was delicious, but on top of that the waitress lady was so kind and gently. Our kids were very upset because they were tired, and she helped us bringing some coloring sheets and crayons 🖍️. She did her best to make our lunch a good experience. I truly recommend this restaurant!
3 minute walk from the new Tesla chargers. Super fast, fresh, and DELICIOUS!
This was my first visit. It was noon on Sunday and the server was very pleasant and helpful. The restaurant appeared to be clean and well maintained even though the building is older. The food was fresh and very good, meeting my expectations. I ordered Orange Chicken that came with steamed rice. I only waited a few minutes for my order.
Ordered the Beef and broccoli, vegetable fried rice and vegetable chow mein. They are very generous with their portions , and I think the food was bombdalishes. Truck drivers…worth the walk. Most of us don’t like to. lol!
Must stop for this Authentic Chinese food on rest stop at 5 south,👍 very kind mom n pop resto, and order dumpling and hot sour soup 🤣 happy yummy tummy plus the house special fried rice! I unbearable something so good is put of no where 😜 order additional dumpling and fried rice to go for the long drive down south.
Had an order of general tso chicken with steamed rice ,very good portion size ,the food was absolutely delicious.hamds down next time I'm in the area will definitely eat here again
I love this place the food is so good 100% good. The hot and sour soup is mouth warting delicious. I always get excited when I'm driving over the grapevine going back home to Los Angeles because I this is my favorite stop.
Generous amounts of delicious food at amazing prices!! Came here with family visiting from Korea who needed a break from burgers and pizza on our road trip to LA and it was a big hit with everyone. We ordered Kung Pao chicken, mapo tofu, potato slices, veggie fried rice, and chicken noodle soup. Everything was good but the soup and potatoes were my favorite. The fried rice was a little bland on its own but perfect with the other flavorful dishes. The couple working here were so kind and helpful as well. We were so happy with the food that we ordered salt and pepper squid, fried shrimp, potstickers, and more veggie fried rice for our ride home to the Bay. Again, everything was nice but the salt and pepper squid was especially good. I'd definitely stop here again on another trip.
Was really good food. Huge plates full. Has a buffet style. And dine in. Just across from Pilot truck stop.
Everything about this establishment was outstanding. We walked in with a large group of 15 people and I felt terrible when I saw the size of the place. But I was absolutely blown away by the service this small local restaurant was able to provide. Linda served us with the utmost attentiveness and prompt attitude. I couldn’t haven’t been happier with my experience. Oh and also the food was outstanding and priced very fairly. If I’m ever in Frazer Park I will hands down be back and I would recommend trying this place.
Absolutely love this place every time we pass by we have to stop and get there veg fried rice omg delicious. Thank u Linda and the owners. Definitely recommend for good authentic Chinese food
I ordered the eggplant with brown sauce and it was excellent. It was served HOT (temperature) with rice. It was so much better than stopping for fast food. This is a small business with reasonable prices. The one person in the front of the restaurant did the ordering, cashiering, serving and cleaning. She was nice and efficient. If you are driving up or down Tejon Pass and hungry, stop here,
Haven't had chinese food in a while...this house fried rice and chicken wings hit the spot😋
Great food! Everything is freshly made. Right now the restaurant is closing at 9 instead of 10 pm. The food is served family size, i would say 3-4 people can eat from one order. Most of the staff does have a thick accent so please be patient and double check they have your order right. The food was fully ready and perfectly cooked within minutes!
I recently moved to Frazier Park and was having a hard time finding healthy takeout food, I'm so grateful for this Chinese place by the freeway, all of the vegetarian options feel super healthy, I usually order Kung Pao Tofu, the sauce has a lot of flavor, it has peanuts and comes with rice on the side.
We got stuck here overnight due to car issues. What a nice surprise to find this little place. The staff was very kind and helpful. We really enjoyed the food and found the portions to be large. There were three people in our group. Everything came to us piping hot and we had enough leftovers for a snack later.
Legit, super fresh, clean, and good Chinese food. I would say the food is less flavorful than Panda Express, but the veggies and meat they use are very fresh and made by order (which means not premade). They do know how to serve you. They also use a very convenient pay system. There is no reason to fuss about the place. Super!!!
Beef Fried Rice is one of my favorite Chinese dishes. This place didn’t disappoint. It was very delicious and flavorful. Just the way I like it. I’m mad at myself for eating it all in one sitting.

Great Chinese restaurant! Food quality is comparable to first rate restaurants in major cities. We ordered Orange Chicken, egg rolls, and house rice, all excellent. Roomy dining area, easy parking. Will come back again.
I got veggie egg foo young. The fried egg part was delicious, the veggies were yummy, and the rice was good too. The sauce is kind of a teriyaki-style. Not sure if that's because I got the vegetable version (like maybe chicken or beef comes with the traditional brown/gray sauce.) Anyway, the food was really good and the lady behind the counter was super friendly. I'd totally stop by again. The atmosphere in there is just "ok". It's kind of like an old school American diner got converted into a Chinese restaurant, but lost all bunch of charm in the process. It's fine. There's a lot they could do to improve the atmosphere.

Good for a quick lunch or dinner prices are not bad
Excellent freshly prepared food. Very tasty. Fresh ingredients. Quick service. May have to wait during rush hour. Only issue is food is served in styrofoam boxes which was a little annoying. Overall, it was a nice discovery on our way back from Palm Springs to the Bay Area.
Excellent food for take out. There is a dining area. It's kept clean. Think Panda Express. It used to be a cafeteria style like Panda Express. But now they make to order from a menu. You still order at the counter. If you dine in, the very wonderful lady brings it to your table. My only complaint is that my eyes (and stomach) are always bigger than my wallet. Worth it.
Two of us ate here in June 2022. It was a Wednesday about 1:00 PM and the place was entirely empty of sit down customers. I suppose we missed the lunch rush. They were very accommodating and prepared my meal without ingredients that I can not have. Everything was prepared fresh and hot. They were not selling fountain drinks that day, although they had a machine so drinks were sold by the can.
I ordered the Kung Pao and I'm only giving four stars because in my opinion it could have been spicier. The woman at the counter (owner?) was so polite and had an infectious smile. I will most likely come back to try something else next time I pass through town.

Ordered General Tsos Chicken and paid for the upgrade to Egg Fried Rice (initially I got plain White rice, took it back & I ended up with Egg Rice, my fault for not looking before I left)... I can safely say "What they lack in Quality, then have in Customer Service... Maybe it was just an "Off" day..." I did get a free beverage tho...
Let me start by saying the service is ALWAYS Amazing. The lady that runs the front end is Always very friendly. The food is very hit and miss. I can't even chew the Sweet and Sour pork my daughter and I ordered. We spent $62 on two orders of Sweet and Sour Pork and a Large egg flour soup plus a tip. Just to not be able to eat the main entree. I mean we couldn't chew it at all. It was extremely Hard. I tried to let it sit to get "soggy" then rewarm it but, that failed. Unfortunately I think this will be our last visit. $62 is just too expensive to only be able to share One soup between two people.

Food looks good, but it tastes as if it was fried in old oil. Fried wontons were great, but walnut shrimp was below average, not recommend it at all

Tastes like mall food :l I’d only ever go back if just about everything was 3-4$ cheaper. But I’ll never pay authentic prices for stuff that tastes like fake Chinese food. I wish this place was better :( bc I love Asian food and this is the closest to us. Never again.
I came here while waiting to charge my vehicle. The lady/cashier told me I couldnt wait in the dining area and had me waiting in the corner entrance where its fully soaked by the suns heat. There's nobody else here and I wanted to wait for my food in the comfortable shade in the dining area.. that's crazy.. don't come here....the food wasn't tasy at all either.

The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere for a very small restaurant.. the menu is pretty simple and was nice.. but that's all I got to see as I sat there for fifteen minutes.Waiting for service which never came.So I got up and walked out
It's definitely Not what you would expect; prices are of a nice sit down Chinese restaurant. Quality is definitely frozen and prepackaged. I dined in and yet the food was brought out in to go/ and Styrofoam containers. The "Egg rolls"( 3" Spring rolls* ). We're literally the worst I've ever had to be transparent. The food is bland! How do you mess up Chinese food!? I give honest reviews. I AM NOT being petty. I ate "California surf club " in Redondo Beach a few days ago for the same price! I only finished it because I'm tired of Wendy's at the truck stops.
I've ate here 2 times ,and there won't be a 3rd .your lucky to get out of there without getting food poisoning. I think the people working there live in the kitchen area in a makeshift room in the back . Do better china red house or go somewhere else and serve your slop . There aren't many food places up here and we don't need you ,if this is what your putting out .
