I saw a lot of good reviews, so we just had to give it a try. I'm so glad we did. Although busy, we were seated pretty fast, and service was good and fast as well. I had the chicken fried steak with the jalapeño gravy, and my wife had the chopped steak. Both were very good. Definitely will have to go back and try the fire ring burger.
I had the chop steak with some amazing fried okra and macaroni in cheese. That was to all delicious! I also had a cup of tortilla soup because I just can't skip it.It's so good, and I had the brownie with ice cream and we took a chocolate pie home! If you have not checked out this place, I highly recommend it.The atmosphere is wonderful. You can sit inside or outside. We went around two p m.It was quiet. The staff is always super friendly.Great little place to eat 💓💓
Oh goodness....the staff is amazing. Allen, our waiter, was extremely busy but always was there if we needed anything. The food was so good. I throughly enjoyed the Shrimp and Grits and my husband had the large Chicken Fried Steak! Both plates were excellent.
One of the few places left around here that's not a giant corporation trying to mask itself as "down home". Sorry for the editorializing but this area is getting worse by the day. Basically welcome to L.A..... Dalia Cafe IS down home, old Texas The food is good, staff is very welcoming, enjoy it before it to is gone.
Wonderful restaurant! Great place to relax with family/friends! Has inside, deck and patio seating. Food was top-notch! Our server Jessica was attentive to our time restraints, prompt and very friendly. Can't wait to go back! Pictured: Chopped steak w/ mushrooms, grilled onions and gravy. Sides: mashed potatoes with gravy and sauteed spinach. Delicious!
A very delicious Porterhouse Pork Chop with cinnamon apples and house mashed potatoes. They have a large set of tables outside so definitely covid safe and generally a nice spot even outside that. Also has a outside play area for kids. Nice to sit back and have some Texas Country cooking under a canopy of trees.
I love everything about this place. Growing up in Austin I used to love going to shady grove. This place gives that vibe with an awesome outdoor seating area, stage and the kids play ground away from people eating. Staff is always awesome at this place. Super nice and quick. There is one guy who learns everyone’s name. He is super impressive and now every time we see him we are greeted by name. They have probably the best chicken fried steak I’ve had since Good Eats was around in Austin. Their pie is also a must. My wife always gets the bread pudding as she says it’s the best she has ever had. This is where we take out of state visitors for a good meal when they come visit. LOVE THIS PLACE
I enjoyed a group outing at this lively venue today. We had a reservation and we were seated promptly. Our waitress was a true gem, handling all of our requests politely and correctly. A number of our party enjoyed the chicken fried steak, I had the southwest salad, and others had sandwiches. All were generous portions and made with quality ingredients. Real mashed potatoes, for example. Those who still had room ordered from the delectable dessert menu. The pecan bourbon pie is awesome, I can assure you. Prices are reasonable but not cheap. The restaurant has a pleasant interior seating area, a deck, an outdoor patio, a Kiddie playscape, and barely adequate parking . It's popular and you may face a wait to be seated. Adult beverages are available.
We were really blown away by the food. We all got breakfast plates and could barely put our forks down. Everything tasted very fresh and homemade. Generous portions and fair prices. Great place to go sit on the patio. I just wish they had bloody Marys. Not a full bar, they have tequila for margaritas (frozen or on the rocks), sangria, wine, beer (can and bottle only), and frosé. I got the frosé and it was tasty. I also wish they were dog friendly on the patio- service dogs only. But all in all great experience. We will be back next time we are in town
We haven't been there for lunch in a while, but all 3 of us loved it!! Chicken fried chicken was unsurpassed as was my hubbies chicken fried steak. The homemade yeast rolls are delicious as were the sides! Just wanted to share a post. They are always busy so I'm not telling y'all anything you already don't know! It was great!!! So glad they re-did the inside! You are no longer deaf when you eat in there lol!!!!
On a busy Saturday at 1pm, we were a party of eight but got seated quickly. Our waitperson was friendly and efficient. She had no problem providing us with separate checks. I ordered the small chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and fried okra. The breading was crispy and the gravy was creamy and thick. The steak was tender and delicious. One of my friends ordered the large chicken fried steak. He needed a box to take the rest of it home. I’ll be back.
What's not to love? Great restaurant for family and friends. Excellent food, great atmosphere, and friendly service. I'm from San Antonio, and I've been wanting to visit this place and finally got the opportunity to take my family there. It's a gem in the middle of Liberty Hill. Beside great food, they have live music on Fridays and Saturdays after 6:30 pm. The ri prices are very reasonable and their menu has many options to choose from.
Rustic decor/ Texas native feel restaurant, great service out door setting, As first look at the menu we wanted to eat everything in it. We knew we were at the right place. Once the food arrived our suspicions were correct, everything was good old county comfort food with a little twist. Such a great little place for a beautiful weekend afternoon Will definitely recommend and come back Oh and kids get to play a bit while waiting. Added bonus
We decided to try this place on Sunday for breakfast and had a wonderful first experience. We were seated quickly to a cute outdoor space. Plenty of seating at 9am and there were a lot of menu options. The food was delicious and the biscuits and gravy were fantastic. Also a huge bonus is that they have so many fans blowing outside that the hot weather was no issue. We're excited to come back!
8/17/24–our waitress Brittany was AWESOME!!! She has wait it takes customer service, communication, and attention to detail. Our food today was FANTASTIC. We had chicken salad sandwich on whole wheat toasted bread w/ homemade kettle chips seasoned to perfection. We also had chicken fried steak w/ mashed potatoes & okra( smothered in jalapeño country cream gravy. For dessert: Hillbilly Bar w/ vanilla ice cream drizzled w/ caramel sauce. Everything about Dahlia Cafe is about perfection. Thank you again Brittany for taking great care of us today. Hope to see you soon!!! New Owners are doing a great job. Keep up the awesome food and service. Blueberry sausage for breakfast delicious. Cream or Jalapeño Gravy — yummy. Wow this place is the bomb. Food is so delicious. Wait staff go above and beyond even though we have a nationwide shortage for help. Keep up with the excellent food and your incredible team. Love the atmosphere.
Tucked away in Liberty Hill, Dahlia Cafe is a true gem that captures the heart and soul of Southern comfort food. From the moment you arrive, you feel like you've been invited into a cozy home. The beautiful outdoor patio, shaded by a canopy of large oak trees, creates an inviting and relaxed atmosphere that's perfect for a leisurely meal with family and friends. The food is nothing short of spectacular. Every dish tastes like it's made from a cherished family recipe, with flavors that are both rich and deeply satisfying. Everything, from their burgers to their famous pies, is made with care and quality ingredients. What truly sets Dahlia Cafe apart is the genuine warmth of the staff. The service is fast, friendly, and attentive, making you feel welcomed and appreciated. Add in the extra touch of live music on the weekends, and you have the perfect recipe for a memorable dining experience. Dahlia Cafe isn't just a place to eat; it's a place to gather, relax, and enjoy some of the best food and hospitality Liberty Hill has to offer.
Top tier southern comfort food at a reasonable price point, especially in Austin metro. Highly recommend the buttermilk pie - a southern classic done perfectly.
Went back to Dahlias for lunch and holy cow that chicken fried was delicious but the homemade gravy was awesome. And the Bourbon Pecan pie was out of this world. We'll be back.
My husband got the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and I decided on the Mother In Law's Meatloaf with broccoli. We could not believe how huge the portions were! Then we got the Chocolate Chess pie and Appalachian Bar. The pie was already good to begin with, but to add some of the ice cream from the Appalachian Bar was a chef's kiss! The App Bar was soooo good too! The only thing I wished for was my food to be a bit warmer. It was room temp, but I didn't ask for it to be reheated, so I take full accountability for that.
Nice country cafe, pretty big with lots of seating inside and out, has a play area outside for kids. The food is always good and the atmosphere is comforting.
Nice outdoor seating under big oak trees. Simple menu, good food. The outdoor area has a small playground in a big yard. Great for kids.
If you’re ever near Liberty Hill, Texas, stop in at Dahlia Cafe. The ambiance is pure Texas, the food is pure mom’s Home cooking, and the service is great as well. We started out with the beer menu and I was happy to see a nice selection of Texas craft beers. Although we sat outside, the fans on the covered patio provided a a comfortable dining experience. Next we got the kettle chips with the Chile ranch dressing. The chips were fresh and crisp. The dressing was the perfect condiments. Beware….. it was enough to be an appetizer for a table of 4-6!! We got a to go cup of the dressing and packed up our extras for a late night snack! I had the green Chile and cheese grits and shrimp. The grits were creamy and the flavor was on point. With the side salad (average) and the chips I had already consumed, I took half home. The portions are more than enough. My friend had the meatloaf with fried okra (probably frozen 🤷🏼♀️) and mashed potatoes. But that meatloaf with the red sauce was delicious!!! Next time I’ll forgo the appetizer and save room for dessert. They had an aging dessert menu and the ones I saw coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. 2 beers, an appetizer, and two entrees were $45. With the portion sizes, Definitely with it. I’m looking forward to my next trip to the area so I can sample for of the menu. Unfortunately we left just as the band was starting up, but what I heard was awesome. I’d love to come back one evening and just enjoy some Texas beer and good music in their beer garden.
Great Place to eat. Fantastic customer service, great food options and overall great environment. I was visiting but we picked this place close to our Airbnb. Will definitely be back when we visit.
This place is the definition of Texas. Southern hospitality at its finest! Kind wait staff and delicious comfort food. I got the chicken fried chicken and let me tell you, that chicken was moist and properly seasoned. Not to mention it came out PIPIN hot. Sides were great too. Can’t go wrong with mash potatoes and macaroni and cheese. The gravy completed it all. But let me just talk about the desserts. They’re not pictured because 1. I got them to go and 2. I scarfed them down. One of the best bread puddings I’ve had in a while. Pop it in the microwave and it’s perfection. Lastly, the bourbon pecan pie? Speechless. The BEST pecan pie I’ve ever had in my life. No joke. The taste of bourbon is so subtle but meshes wonderfully. And the pecans aren’t whole which made it texturally more enjoyable to eat. The crust was buttery and the sweetness was just right. This place isn’t exactly close to me, but I’d drive 45 minutes just to pick up a whole bourbon pecan pie from them. All I gotta say is this place definitely earns all it’s stars.
Too bad there is not a water or pasture view, but other than that, it's very charming. Affordable, fun menu, tasty food with excellent service. The zydeco dip and the fried chicken livers are a must! It must be packed on Friday and Saturday night when there is live music, but there is ample parking in the back and misters in the outside seating area. Bathroom was old and worn, but very clean. We will definitely return again and again to try the whole menu, but those livers made my day!
High-fives all around for this joint, earning a solid five stars thanks to some seriously zippy service (like, did they have a food teleporter or something?). Me: "Can I get a chicken fried chicken?" Waiter: "Yea its on the table already. Careful its hot" And let's talk about the prices – they're practically doing a happy dance ignoring all inflationary adjustments over the last five years, matched with portion sizes that'll have you thinking you stumbled into a food carnival. So, take a whirl at it in the ever-expanding Liberty Hill (okay, maybe a smidge of sarcasm involved...). Definitely worth a try..
We came out for dinner from Cedar Park. We'd heard it was excellent and we were not disappointed. The chicken fried steak was really good and the large was extremely large!! I had the shrimp and grits. It was delicious! We finished it off with a slice of peanut butter pie. I couldn't wait to get home into my loose pants! :-) The service was super friendly! Highly recommend!
If I could give more than 5 stars I would. This was our first time here and it started off with beautiful weather to where they had the garage doors open to the outside seating area. We had an AWESOME waiter named Ivan who, for me, was the perfect blend of giving us what we needed and not hovering while we ate. Now the food, *chef's kiss*! Hubby had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, side of jalapeno rice, and I had the fried livers with mashed potatoes and gravy, side of spinach. I told my husband, "the only fried livers better than these are the ones my Mom used to make". Thank you Dahlia Cafe for giving me that wonderful memory. Hubby had the brownie ala mode for dessert. It was a portion for two but I don't eat chocolate so he tackled it himself. I ordered a piece of bourbon pecan pie to go. Both get 👍👍. Lastly the price, I felt was very fair for the portion size of food we received and the quality of it. It was $50 total which was the 2 meals, my lemonade, his beer and two desserts. I've paid almost that at fast food places! I recommend this place to all! There's so much on the menu I need to come back and try. It's family friendly with a playset in the yard area for kids and bands play on weekends. We will try this again for brunch and see how that is. Dahlia Cafe..we definitely will be back!! ❤️
Dahlia Café is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and perfectly captures that cozy Hill Country charm. The service is always top-notch — friendly, attentive, and they really make you feel at home. Whether you’re there for lunch or dinner, the staff goes above and beyond to make sure everything’s just right. Great food, great people, and a great vibe — can’t recommend this place enough!
We had a great experience today. We can't wait to go back and try another item on the menu. Food was served quickly, hot, and tasty. Simple fun family down home atmosphere and I can say this will be our new goto after church on Sunday. Live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Great place for the whole family.
Great food great atmosphere. Generous servings. The okra is hand breaded. The 8oz chicken fried steak is huge. The mack and cheese is hand made. I give this place a 5 out of 5. Excellent.
Great food! Love Chicken Fried Chicken $14.99. So huge portion, I can eat only half. Very delicious. Perfect place to get together with family, set outside and enjoy nice Texas spring weather! Highly recommend. This place has an old-fashioned American atmosphere. Also try their exquisite pies. It worth every bite!
Visiting the area I was searching for a local lunch spot with many options and Dahlias did not disappoint. We were seat pretty quick and the staff was courteous from the get go. Once seated we looked through the menu and it was hard to decide what to get. They had so many great sounding options. We started off with the loaded queso fries appetizer and they were phenomenal. The portion size could be shared with a family. For my meal I ordered the Steak House Burger. How could you go wrong with A1, mashed potatoes, cheese, bacon, and ranch on a burger. Wonderful place. If I'm ever in this area of Texas again I'll definitely go back.
We took a trip with our friends and on the way back we were starving! We found this place on Google, it sounded so good. We saw the front of the building, and it did not have but a few cars. But, upon driving to the back, we realized that we were not alone at all, and that going there was NOT an original idea. There were lots people waiting, and we were asked to wait about 30 minutes, but it took less time to be seated. There is a lot of antique tables, and chairs to eat or to wait outside, under the oak tree, that had given shade to lots of customers. They also have a children's playscape under the shade. Our friends were delighted with the food they ordered. I had the French toast with powdered sugar, scrambled eggs, and blueberry sausage (made exclusively for their restaurant). I loved the French toast, and the blueberry sausage, but my eggs could have used some salt, which I added. There is also a bakery. They make all kinds of pies, but, we bought the Butter Milk chess pie, which is hard to find in other bakeries. This place has plenty of space to accommodate large parties. They also have a deck outside under the oak tree, if you wish to dine outdoors. Great service!
One of the best restaurants I've been to in quite some time. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The floors and tables were legit spotless! The menu is filled with delicious, made-from-scratch options. Their commitment to quality and fresh ingredients shines through in every bite. The service is always top-notch, with friendly staff who go above and beyond to make sure you have a great time. Our waitress was so so nice and attentive which added to the positive time here. To top it off, there's even live music on some weekends, I wasn't gonna see it, but it's still amazing to see and notice! Dahlia's Cafe is a must-visit for anyone craving great food and a welcoming vibe!
One of our favorites! We have been coming for about 15 years! It's great for kids, the food is amazing and the pies are a hit!
This restaurant has become a staple for my family—we go every Sunday after church and love enjoying breakfast on their beautiful patio. The food is always delicious, and the staff is both friendly and efficient. I especially recommend the chicken fried steak, chili cheeseburger, Liberty Hill Omelet, and their pancakes.
This place is fantastic! Best chicken fried chicken in the Hill Country. Service is definitely great. Venue is cool and if youre lucky enough to go on a nice day the patio is really cool. Desserts are the best in this area too!
Met family for brunch. Our waitstaff person Chris was very pleasant and accommodating for our party of six. We were glad to have outdoor seating available. We had a range of brunch burger, biscuits and gravy, BLT, cheese burger, French toast and toasted cheese. Coffee is really good. They serve Becker Vineyards wine and mimosas. We suggested they add Bloody Mary drinks, especiallyfor brunch.
I came here with my family and this place did not disappoint. On the outside, it didn't look like much but its a massive place. The waiting area is quite big because there's always a massive queue to this place. If you wanna be seated quickly, you should enter the waitlist. When I arrived there, I was told that it was gonna be a 25-30 minute wait but we only waited 15 minutes before we were seated. The waiter was so nice while he seated us. We ordered our food and received it in just 10 minutes. We bought the onion rings and loaded Queso fries. The onion rings were extra crispy and was salted evenly that went very well with the jalapeno ranch. The Queso fries looked amazing and smelled even better. There was no way I'd eat with a fork so I grabbed some with my hands and it was a delicious gooey mess. The cheese, the Queso, the ranch and the beacon bits melded together and melted in my mouth. 2 minutes later, the fries were gone. For mains, we ordered the BLT Sandwich with french fries, pork chops with hash browns and caramel apples, chicken fried chicken with fried okra and grilled chicken with the house salad, chilli and fried okra. The sides were alright, I wouldn't order them again. Only the hash browns and house salad were good. The mashed potato was flavourless and a bit chunky, the apples were so sweet you couldn't taste the apple anymore and the fried okra was unseasoned and soggy. The chicken fried chicken was so crispy and tender it's like a flavour bomb went off in my mouth. The grilled chicken was juicy on the inside and well seasoned. The pork chops were perfectly cooked, not too hard and not too soft. The BLT sandwich was really good and balanced. There wasn't too much lettuce or tomato. We finished off with their bourbon Pecan pie. The pie was very flavourful with the perfect amount of sweetness and a tingle of that bourbon. The chopped pecan on top contributed greatly to the texture. I regret not buying another pie. I will definitely be back for more.
What a fun place in LH! I know it's an OG in LH and have been once or twice years ago as I live further south but I love how family oriented and authentic it is. A friend of mine joined me with her 4 kids and my 2 kids ages 3 months to 5 years around 12:30 on a Friday, and there were surprisingly a decent amount of people there (although still enough parking). The staff was really friendly and sat us right away at a table on the deck, and the kids stayed entertained playing in the gravel and on the play structure the whole time! We ordered the kids grilled cheese, a cheeseburger, and chicken tenders, with a variety of sides, and I had the Green Chile Queso Philly Cheese Steak and my friend had the Hamburger. The Philly was DELICIOUS! All the food came out pretty quick too, especially with how many people were already there. My friend also got some pies to go which looked good. They have outdoor seating, deck seating, open air covered seating, and indoor seating. The inside seating area didn't seem like much to write home about but the rest of the place was pretty neat! They also have live music and other happenings going on; we will definitely be returning to this unique restaurant. A must try if you're in the area!
Wonderful comfort food and service! We were so impressed with the employee named Mirel. He took time to learn everyone’s name and get to know them a bit before seating them. What’s even more impressive is that when people left he thanked them by name and told them to have a blessed day (literally everyone and didn’t forget a single name)! The rest of the staff were also wonderful and it’s probably the best service we’ve had in a very long time!
First time here and I have been recommending it to all my family, friends, my patients, anyone I can. Very delicious food! I rarely get 3 entries but I add appetizer, meal and the desserts. Do not skip on desserts, especially the appleacian bar. They also have a stage outside, so might have some music acts from time to time.
This is Texas y'all. Rustic vibe. Grip your ribs food. Friendly staff. My husband ordered his favorite brunch, Chicken Fried steak with a side of fried okra and hash browns. I got my favorite brunch thing, French toast - the plate with scrambled eggs and some blueberry sausage links (they have tiny kick). So good.
LOVE this place! Always good staff, good service, good food, and this afternoon…good coffee! ☕️ 👌 Best bang for the buck is the chopped steak with mashed potatoes, gravy on the side, and the cinnamon apple for your other side. Leftovers for a lady, full meal for a man. 💪 Kids meal you have to scan a stupid barcode, but that’s life in the 21st century. Their pies and deserts are dangerous. You’ve been warned! 😎 🥧 🍰
My new favorite cafe for southern comfort foods. From the staff to the pie this little gem is in my top 5 local eatery’s easily and will have you wanting to come back for more. The moment we arrived I knew once our host(Mirel) greeted us we were in for a great dining experience. He alone was as worth us coming to the establishment such a kind and gentle soul. The food had so much flavor it will leave your mouth watering for more even though your tummy is full. So glad (Tasha )our waitress convinced us to try the pie. No room for pie you say…nonsense take it to go. The only complaint is I should have got a slice of my own instead of sharing with my hubby. He said next time we should probably just order a whole pie a head of time. YES, The pie is that daggum delicious! Not sure if you can really do that but if possible I definitely would. Looking forward to returning and trying other items on the menu and more PIE!
Nestled in Liberty Hill Texas is a special local upscale café. Serving comfort food with a smile. Onion rings is a specific food that a restaurant can either do well or not. Dahlia's is bringing their A game! The onion rings are not frozen and very very well seasoned, with a slight crunch still in the onion. Served with a fresh jalpeno ranch. Its a home run!!! Hubby thinks his chicken fried chicken was bigger than the menu says. Very tender, light and tasty. The jalapeño gravy is mild and still accentuates. Their chicken fried steak is just the best. Yummy! Blanched spinach with garlic is perfect. Its like being a kid back in grandma's kitchen, seriously!! Inside seating and outside seating on a very nice super large deck under ceiling fans and gorgeous huge oak trees. Such a treat! Now do not forget to order dessert even if you take it go, you have to try their desserts! So many and all made from scratch!! ****** Six stars which I rarely ever give.
Dahlias was busy, but we were still greeted with a smile. We sat on the patio, which was so pleasant even for July! Our waiter was fantastic and made sure we were well taken care of. Our food was great! I had a grilled chicken sandwich with grilled onion and mushrooms, and my husband had a cheeseburger. Now, let me say, it's difficult for me to find a grilled chicken sandwich cooked well. It's usually either rubbery or burnt. ( I get it, chicken is scary) But this one was utter perfection! Tender and juicy! My husband declared his hamburger was the best one he'd EVER eaten. ( I tried not to take offense 😂) The meat was fresh and full of flavor. We highly recommend Dalia Cafe! If there's a wait, then sit and wait, it's definitely worth it! ❤️
Great place for a relaxed dinner in the early evening. We sat outside so if you can't handle the Texas heat then perhaps not a spot for you. Most of their seating is outside if not all outside (I didn't see any inside seating). The food was super tasty and good portions as well. I went with my family and we noticed they had a stage and Edison lights on the trees. My guess is they play live music in the evenings. Would be a fun place to listen to music, relax with friends, or dance the night away. Will definitely be coming back 🥰
Everything was amazing! Best shrimp and grits I have ever had, it was full of flavor! My husband had chicken livers and they were so light and crispy. Jalapeño gravy is delicious and the fried okra is obviously hand made. Everything was freshly made and fantastic! Shout out to our server Brenden, who was incredibly quick and precise. We watched him handle so many tables with ease and delightful service. We loved the whole experience! EDIT: went back again today, a week and a half later…again everything was delicious!! Burger with mashed potatoes, A1, bacon and ranch is amazing! Biscuits with chicken tenders, gravy, cheese and eggs are yummy! But the cherry on top was the side I ordered of green chili grits….they know their grits! None of the bland watery stuff. Super flavorful and delicious! We are only driving through this town but we make sure we stop here!
Great atmosphere, sort of ok breakfast, a little pricey for the food quality. Not that it was BAD food, just not really impressive for the premium prices. A steak egg bagel from McDonalds would’ve been better than my omelette, to be honest!
Dahlia’s has superb service. This small town of Liberty Hill sure knows how to make someone feel welcomed. Wait time wasn’t bad and the live band and bar in the courtyard made time go by really fast. Their food portions are huge so make sure you go there super hungry or just plan to take home leftovers 😊 The food itself was good but I only wish they had more cocktail options.
Our server Jessica was very attentive and sweet! I ate the bird and biscuit but it was a lot heavier of a meal than I was hoping for. I cannot wait to come back and try the pie, and hopefully sit out on the beautiful patio!
Came in just before dinner rush and the patio was mostly empty. Weather was nice and was hoping for a table outside under the tree. Host lead us to sit inside the restaurant instead and so we asked if we can move outside. She then proceeded to sit us just right outside the door of the dining? So we decided to just ask our server if we can move, Briana our server immediately said yes so not sure what the logic of the host was.. anywho. Briana is wonderful, she made sure that we enjoyed the meal and taken cared of. I had the rib eye steak which was sorta ok (i need to stop giving high expectations to places ive never been). Wife had the porkchop, which was wayyyy thicker than my steak! (Again with my high expectations) and daughter had the pasta. All tasted ok, brocolli could have had a bit more flavor (maybe some lemon pepper mix?) And steak was small.
While this is a sizeable establishment, the small town cafe feels is still alive and well drawing many in the community. I had the Digas (their take on Migas) which I really recommend. It came with hash browns and a biscuit which were spot on. Their staff was very helpful and courteous. The only drawback for me is that they didn't offer WiFi or if they do, the staff was not helpful in getting connected. Great place if you're not also working.
The food is phenomenal. We usually eat brunch on Sundays. Not a huge selection, but what they have is good! I gave them a 4 just because they have had a couple of "off" days. The food was barely warm, and some days, it's hard to get a waiters attention. We occasionally eat dinner here, too. They have good food with nice portions.
More like a 4.5 across the board. Food was great and awesome menu selection.. no complaints there! They were short handed so almost finished my meal before getting my Stella. The temperature was damp and humid would’ve preferred sitting outside as it was cooler but wasn’t allowed at that particular time. I will definitely go back and hope to enjoy the outdoor seating area.
Stopped in for a quick late lunch today and was pleasantly surprised. There isnt a lot of great eats in Liberty Hill but this place is great. The food was good and they have a lovely patio seating area. There is a good selection of food on their menu to pick from. Our waitress was quick and friendly. No complaints overall!
Want to try some different brunch places than the usual ones and found this in google reviews and it was a good experience to dine-in here for a Sunday brunch. We loved th location and the food. Staff were very friendly. The temperature inside the air conditioned dining area was not that cold, may be due to the high heat waves in this season.
Had a fun brunch at this fun country restaurant. Great vibe with outdoor patio and welcoming staff. Chicken fried steak with jalapeno gravy was one of the best I had in a really long time. Steak and eggs brunch special was tasty. I did have to send my steak back in order to get it cooked to the right temperature. Second time it was perfect. I highly recommend and definitely will be back. They have live music outdoors and would love to attend. They are open 7 days a week!
Haven’t been too many spots in Liberty Hill, TX but I quite enjoyed this restaurant. The staff is super friendly, wait time was 4-6min, ample parking, prices on the food is pretty decent. My only regret is that I didn’t have their dessert 😔….next time 😄
Guess we simply hit this place at the wrong time. An early Thursday dinner that I had been looking forward to all week... We were greeted quickly and well when we walked in - I believe they were training a new hostess and we were seated at a nice spot inside (the outside seating area looked great, but I went with inside so my wife would be more comfortable). Once inside our server arrived after several long minutes, which seemed overly long to me considering the only real "crowd" was one very large group. We ordered our drinks and the onion rings as an appetizer, and those delicious onion rings arrived crazy quick - and they were soooooo good. The batter was a refreshing change from so many that are out there, and both versions of their Ranch added to the experience. Once again, it took quite some time for our server to return to ask about our dinner order... but once the food arrived (again, pretty quickly, but there were still very few diners seated other than the large group) it was fantastic! True ol' fashioned country cookin' with flavors that reminded me of my childhood. I chose the chicken livers and they were amazing! Not a dish you are able to find many places anymore, and when you add in the mashed potatoes and the very good okra, the dish just absolutely hit the spot. My wife ordered the chopped steak with mashed potatoes and the Mac n Cheese - not my taste in food, but she enjoyed her meal as well (there was something a bit too sweet I the mac for me and brown gravy is just not my thing). The only real disappointment for both of us were the rolls --- not homemade and were still cold in the middle (sure did seem like they were frozen Sister Schubert rolls from HEB). We were hoping to try a dessert, but when it became apparent our server had simply finally forgotten us, we decided that our time with Dahlia had come to a disappointing end. I was able to flag her down (we had not seen her for 15 minutes after I decided to begin paying attention, well after it had already become frustrating) and paid and headed home. Overall -- food was amazing and brought back some fond taste memories (can't say anything about the desserts they offer). First encounter with the staff was fantastic, but it went downhill rapidly once seated. Big kudos to the back of house crew - I seriously was impressed with the speed of our orders. Will we be back? Not sure... so many great options out there, with the lack of service I won't make a special trip, however if I find myself in the area I may very well give it another chance.
2025-01-00 - super cute spot for breakfast. Tried the biscuits and gravy and they were good. I didn’t like that the sausage wasn’t in the gravy, it was crumbles of sausage topped with gravy. This made a strange texture as the sausage was crunchy. Bought a pie to take home which was fantastic.
We have eaten at Dhalia many times and feel like the service and food have been less than acceptable recently. We ate here this am and my husband ordered the meat lovers omelet and specifically asked for extra cheese as last time there was next to none.. his omelet today also had essentially no cheese and yet we were charged $1 for said extra cheese. I ordered the special which was a peach topped French toast.. when it came out it was clearly canned peaches! Would love to keep coming but food and service need to improve.
As much as I want to like this place, every time I come there something goes wrong. Food is ok for the area of TX. But at least twice I got really sick from eating there. Today, my last time here, we showed up at 4:01, and they would not seat us because their brunch ended at 4pm. So we came 1 minute too late. I was probably standing I front of the door for 5min waiting for the other party, and they had to see it. But we walked in one min too late. Unbelievable.
*Google Master Review Typical Texas Atmosphere, Below Average Food, Poor Service (not at busy time). Sorry, not up to the standards of their reviews. After a warm greeting, we were seated in an open patio setting typical for like-style restaurants. Even though it wasn’t busy at all, our chili and avocado toast was slow to come out to the table. Whereas the presentation of the food was good, the chili was very typical and not served with cornbread or anything to accompany, and the avocado toast was, well, not good at all. The bread was barely toasted making it immediately soggy with the applied balsamic. It also has MUSHROOMS on the dish along with the typical tomatoes and avocado. We should have sent it back but we’re in a hurry for a light meal. After taking our order, our waiter (male with brown hair) didn’t come back… ever. Not to check on the food quality, refills, etc. We even had to get the manager to get our check. Overall, not the experience or the food that was promised in so many of their other good reviews. Maybe they had an ‘off day’ but we will not be coming back.
I ordered a half BLT with salad and few days ago and got the house and balsamic dressings. They were so GOOD mixed together. I reordered the same meal today and they only gave me balsamic. Very disappointed and not nearly as good. One tiny mistake made whole meal disappointing.
My girlfriend and I went out to brunch here on Sunday this past week. She had said the food was lackluster in her previous visits. However she claimed the atmosphere and service was fairly good. I was quite excited as they had outdoor seating and the menu looked pretty appetizing. Once we were seated I felt it took quite some time to get greeted and receive drinks. As a server myself that should be a 5-7 minute venture. I can understand business and stress. With that said the restaurant was not in a state to have the wait we did. Once our drinks were delivered we placed our food orders. Avocado toast, breakfast plate and the Digas Migas. It took a little while for food to come out but nothing crazy. Once our food was delivered our server ran off not to be seen until the bill was dropped. The avocado toast was disgusting, as much as I hate saying that. I was very excited for it, it was untoasted bread with a quarter pound of mushrooms on it. Our entrees were lackluster. The eggs were cold and not very tasteful. I feel bad leaving a bad review and I’m very sure that the restaurant will properly handle these issues. I hope that this was a one time thing because I would love to be able to try dinner here sometime.
I got the country breakfast bowl, for $17. 2 biscuits, gravy, eggs, bacon and cheese. First they should say bacon bits, not bacon. There was hardly any bacon bits at that.. maybe they cut up a half a piece of bacon, but not noticeable in my meal, had to search for the 7 to 8 small pieces. Then very little cheese, juat a pinch. I also had to ask for an extra side of gravy, because there wasn't enough gravy for the dry biscuits, of which there was really too much of. So they gave us plenty of the cheap gravy and biscuits but hardly any of the good stuff like bacon and cheese that is also more costly. For the price if $20+ with tax and tip this dish was done totally wrong. Make it one biscuit, a couple of slices of quality bacon and a good portion of cheese. Wouldn't need as much gravy and half the biscuits need to be made and we would have a more tasty meal, not just a huge lump of carbs... the eggs were good. Wife agreed. Her meal had undercooked eggs and twice as much food as necessary. Let's see smaller portions but better food please.
Went here a couple of times. We Like the environment and outdoor seating plus playground area for the kids. The food was pretty good but they were not quick or efficient. Not sure if we’ll try them again but we’ll see. Drinks were too pricey
I really hate giving businesses bad reviews. I always say if you cant say something nice dont say anything at all.. So I will say do not get the steak and egg. Get something else. The took a frozen steak and put zero seasoning on it🤦♀️. I couldnt even finish a single bite. Told our server, and she said “sorry about that its going to be $35” 😂. Never coming back though i’ll imagine they probably have something they are good at.
I had eaten here once before with my daughter and the food and service was great. I’m not sure if we came on a bad day or what but we was seated then had to wait at least 20 minutes I started to ask if we was going to be waited on when we finally did. I had told my husband that their meatloaf and chicken fried steaks were great. Not anymore! I took mine home and fed it to my dogs I couldn’t eat it due to the tomatoes all over it. I know for sure that we will not be eating here again.
