Kobe Teppanyaki & Sushi offers an entertaining hibachi experience with skilled chefs and fresh sushi. The teppanyaki is fun and interactive, while the sushi is high quality. Some diners find the restaurant run down or the service rushed, and automatic gratuity is a concern.

Tip: Don’t skip out on the hibachi side, it’s well worth it for an awesome experience. Portions are large, making it worth the price.

The food is always consistently good. However, when we come we usually pay cash because for whatever reason even when I leave a tip in cash they always charge a tip to my credit card as well. Always a great place to have a birthday or celebrate a special event though.
Had a great lunch here. Sushi roll was delicious and service was perfect. Will definitely be coming back to check out the Hibachi side of the restaurant.
Heavily recommend if you’re visiting Lincoln. Food is amazing, and Charlie’s energy was one that definitely brightened my day and I hope it brightened other’s day as well, especially with his humor such as the broccoli catching! Bill, our server, is a polite person as well. Definitely would come back!
Been coming here for a couple of years now. The food is excellent. First two times I came to this restaurant. It was for the chef making your food on a a hot grill experience. That was fun, if a little expensive. The teppanyaki gets all the glory, but the sushi is what I keep coming back to eat. This is what I consider Lincoln California's best, sushi restaurant, of which I know there are only a few. Pictured today is the cherry blossom, double dragon, Kobe crazy and another unidentified but excellent sushi roll. I will continue to recommend this restaurant.
We were pretty nervous at first because there was hardly anybody there during lunch but the food was very good! Everything was hot & fresh, staff were super kind and patient with our 2 little boys, and the restaurant including the restrooms was very clean. Portions are LARGE so definitely worth $15-20 per plate!
I love Kobe Teppanyaki in Lincoln, my whole family does! We love the food, the service and the atmosphere! HOWEVER, I Don’t love that they automatically add a gratuity to your bill without saying anything and they don’t tip out to bartenders or bussers😔We will stick to take out, even with a take out tip it is less expensive than the last time we went. I tipped $20 to the hibachi chef and added 25% to the ticket (not realizing the gratuity was automatic)we waited at the bar beforehand and I tipped $5 there. The tips were almost as much as our meal. That’s about a 50% gratuity! There was only three of us! I know, I should have read the bill VERY THOROUGHLY BUT I NEVER EXPECTED TO BE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF AT THIS RESTAURANT😡
Such huge servings, we were hesitant when we went in it smelled odd but we quickly found out why when our griddle was aflame! Amazing, staff is, awesome chefs are hilarious , sake shots poured in our mouths lol. Don’t come here and skip out on the hibachi side it’s well worth it an awesome experience. Must have two people to order hibachi.
Kobe’s our top choice for sashimi and sushi. We always order Sashimi Deluxe, the fish is so fresh, no fishy taste at all and they serve very thick cuts. I highly recommend their Love Boat, if you love raw fish, it’s so satisfying and good for 4 people. Eating at the Teppanyaki grill is very entertaining. Try their combo options, we had the Filet Mignon with scallops and Fillet Mignon with Shrimps , very tasty.
Such a great choice to be on my birthday! The Chef made it so fun and the food was delicious. We all had the flame mignon and lobster. The noodles and fried rice were also fabulous. Yes, you sit at a big table with possibly strangers but the whole environment invites fun and entertainment! It is definitely American Japanese, but so yummy!
This is a late review. I want to start by saying we went here xmas eve as a last ditch effort on way home from another place. We were only a twosome and was pretty empty (obviously for holiday) but thaey were very nice and sat us and were were able to enjoy hibachi. CALIMARI...SOOOOOO GOOD!! The staff was very nice and service was great! I'm not sure why hibachi food is so good but the food here was AWSOME. Also had me a Sapporo beer with some Saki (chef may or may not have giving us a little extra Saki 😁😁) I will be coming back to this restaurant time and time again from here out. I highly recommend. Also reservations are available.
The term " teppanyaki" originates from the Japanese words "teppan" meaning iron plate and "yaki" meaning grilled. Teppanyaki cooking became popular in 1940 with the first teppanyaki restaurant in Kobe. This style of cooking became popular for its interactive and entertaining nature, where chefs would perform skillful maneuvers while preparing meals in front of diners. At Kobe Teppanyaki theatrical aspect is throwing food towards your mouth and squirting sake into your mouth until you can't hold another drop. I would recommend the hostess ask if the customer is interested in participating in these activities before seating them to a table. Then put a red X on the tab, so the chef knows not to engage the customer in these activities. Because the hibachi chef is very insistent that you do participate. The food is good and freshly prepared in front of your table, but not $24 per person good. There is a service fee of $8 or more on the bill for the "entertainment". I would recommend looking over your check before paying.
My visit here today was nice, the lady at the entry was nice (siting and just playing on her phone, an older lady so I guess no customers why not)she took me to the seating area told me "a server would be by soon", Server lady arrived took my order brought out the Miso soup(Was good!) and house salad (lots of dressing and large cuts of romaine lettuce in small bowl). The Rainbow roll was good and 6-8 pieces not bad. The Teriyaki Chicken over 1/2 of a sliced onion "Dinner food" w/small cup of rice was good but the large quantity of sliced onions under the chicken was a waste of onion in my opinion. The overall feel in the dining area was good lots of room for a busy dinner hour or lunch rush. Overall my visit was good but al a cart should be an option because $40 was not what I was expecting to pay but Thank you for the 1st time experience and maybe next time will be better!
Went on a Friday night at 6:30, had reservations but waited for a table. It is a restaurant that has hibachi or teppanyaki cooking food on the table, there are 10 cook tops and about 8 tables on the other side of the partitions. We ordered hibachi and a California roll. A soup and salad are included. The soup is a beef broth and has some onions. The salad is a water ginger based sauce of iceberg lettuce. Charlie our chef was funny and had some skill. We ordered the chick and shrimp. The portions are huge and I guess everyone takes food home. So this is two for one deal. The chicken was in garlic and heaps of butter and oil. The veggies also had the same treatment of butter and oil and garlic sauce. Dessert was free for a birthday in our party. The fried ice cream was so good. A bottle of beer was only 4 dollars. Dinner for 4 was under a hundred USD. In this day and age that’s impressive with the portions. I just wish it was healthier.
Entertaining and Fun!!! I went to the hibachi side. It costs a little more and they seat you around a flat grill. You place your order and then a chef comes out and cooks it in front of you. You get some soup and salad while you wait for your chef. The chef will get you involved with the cooking of the food and it makes it really fun. The food is not the best I have ever had but the real treat is the show. Definitely worth doing and I will certainly go back. Best shared with friends or family.
Our first time here and having sushi in this area, we were pleasantly surprised with the variety of rolls offered. For 3 of us on a Friday afternoon it was $83. That included about 5/6 rolls, 2 Bento boxes, and 1 Sapporo. We didn’t think that was bad at all, probably about the same price as all you can eat back home for us. The service was ok, not overly friendly or patient, but checked on us often, collected or dishes and drinks as needed too, so it was good. The majority of our rolls were good, the rice was not the best rice I’ve had, very poor actually. Everything else tasted fresh and good. I didn’t get to ask if they offered a military discount, we forgot. They seemed to offer lots of specials, a different one every day. The restaurant was clean, and a good size the Hibachi side looked really nice and roomy for a good dinner. We would come back. 2022 UPDATE! We placed a pick up order and WOW! Everything was delicious and packaged so nicely and all of our food looked and tasted great! Thank you Kobe!
3/5 stars is me being generous to be honest. As a Japanese cuisine connoisseur, I was unfortunately disappointed. Maybe hibachi is better than the sushi and bento boxes here? The Diet Coke tasted off, the salad had way too much dressing on it and was watery, the miso soup was too salty, the lobster sushi roll was bland and not up to my standards. The teriyaki chicken was just OK. The vegetable tempura was made sloppily and not cooked up to par. $80 for 2 adult meals and 1 kids meal.. overpriced and absolutely NOT WORTH IT. The restaurant needs a makeover. The wood on the bottom of the booth benches are all scraped up and it doesn’t look nice. If you want amazing Japanese cuisine, I HIGHLY recommend Zakuro in Twelve Bridges, Lincoln they never disappoint! And of course any Mikuni is quality sushi too. Quite a few all you can eat Japanese cuisine restaurants in the Roseville area are quality too.
Hot sake tasted sour, food just so so. For the price you’d expect more. The server was nice but the staff try to rush you out. Tables just rushed in & out. I won’t be coming back.
The place is pretty dirty, made me feel gross about eating there. Food was edible but nothing like Benihana. You can tell they use cheap ingredients and cut corners. I would never eat here again.
Called to place an order person I spoke with was extremely rude rushing me to make the order didn’t take my name or anything. I had questions about the sushi and was told just pick something off the menu. I was told she had other people on the line. Upon picking up my order it must’ve been the same woman because she was just as rude in person. If my husband hadn’t asked for this restaurant specifically I would’ve told them to keep the food with the crappy attitude. Will never be back
Place is awful! Treat you like cattle! Rush you from the moment you sit. Make you sit where they want you to sit then rude if you don’t want to sit there. They just want to go home and and take your money. So rude they include gratuity in there receipts. I’ll never go here again! We liked it at first, but the last 3 times have been terrible. We were missing one person in our party and the lady in the front wasn’t going to sit us until I gave her the most awful stare. It was my birthday we brought a cake, they took it and then brought out there own because they don’t care. Don’t go here if you like to be treated with respect when you spend good money. Go to better places in Lincoln with better service and care about their customers.
I have had dinner there seven times. Last night monday 12/29/25 4:30 pm, I took my mother there for dinner. We sat at the restaurant side, which is pretty run down and not as clean as it could be. We ordered ordered sushi and tempura appetizers and split a teriyaki salmon dinner. To our surprise one and a half minutes after being served the appetizers were served, the salmon was served. We had ordered the salmon teriyaki dinner four times previously and expected a similar product. However the salmon was overcooked served on onions that were undercooked with not enough much teriyaki sauce. While eating our appetizers and thinking about what to do about the salmon I caught two tiny pesty flies flying between me and my mother. When we brought to the server and managers attention we received blank stares no apololgy or refire of the dish. Upon our request they tried two more times to to properly caramelize the onions as we were served on previously visits.... they could not do it. We never got an apology. after being pushed the manager gave us 15% off. Better than nothing I guess. The bill was 44 dollars and change. I tried to pay cash, but I was told they could not make 15 dollars in change. Even though we have enjoyed meals at Kobe Teppanyaki before we feel it is to much of a gamble to go back until they clean that plcae up and get their staff in line.
Absolutely awful experience. The service completely ruined what could have been a great meal. About five minutes after our food was put on our plates, we were already being handed to-go boxes, with bags shoved in our faces and the check dropped at the exact same time. We barely had a chance to eat, let alone enjoy the experience. What makes it even worse is that the food itself was actually really good, which makes the terrible service even more disappointing. Every table around us was laughing, having fun, and being given the full hibachi experience, while we were rushed out like we were an inconvenience. The only time we got to have any fun was when we had to specifically ask the chef to toss food into our mouths, something that was happening naturally at other tables without them having to beg for it including the sake bottle pour. I have never experienced service this bad anywhere, especially at a place that’s supposed to be about entertainment and atmosphere. Great food, but the worst service I’ve ever had. We left feeling rushed, ignored, and completely disappointed.
A complete LIE ! I came because it showed a 4,3 star place but it’s far away from being that! Worst sushi ever . And we had the shrimp fried rice also, awful . Won’t be back anymore. Just doing this so no anyone else gets in the trap of “4,3 stars place”. We couldn’t even finish the food because of how bad it was.
