What an amazing last night for us in London as a family. The Fork Again pointed us to a walk discount at Ken’s bar and restaurant, Situated beside the Hilton Hotel. It was a Thursday night in April, and very quiet. We walked into just a few tables be occupied in the main hotel area. I booked the reservation only before we arrived. The host checked us in, and our server Abhi (who was wonderful) Escorted us to the outside garden. We sat under the light rain in individualized dome igloo that were transparent, so we can see everything around us. Heated, and when the sun starts to set the illuminate on the inside with lights. So fun, romantic, and quaint. Such a wonderful way to spend time with your favourite people. Abhi and Usman Took very good care of us in terms of checking with the kitchen on our allergies with the kids, taking our order, and frequently coming with beverages and answers from the kitchen. The menu itself is pretty straight forward, and everything we had was delicious. My wife ordered the vegetable mezze and the mix grill (Including lamb, skewers, chicken, shish taouk, grilled marinated, chicken, wings, flatbread, and fattoush salad) which we split up among the kids too. Our daughter had the special curry with chicken which she really enjoyed. My son had the beer, battered fish and chips, And my other son had the kids menu chicken bites. Battered fish and chips was a very healthy size. I had my first burger in three weeks, and it was really good. You cannot beat the ambiance in the setting of sitting in the dome. I can’t emphasize that enough Abhi was absolutely excellent as a server. New to London, he was friendly, accommodating, polite, and not at all pushy. We were very lucky to be in his service, and to be outside in the garden. Thank you so much for one of the best nights that I have ever had with my family of five. Highly recommended if you can get here and get into a dome with a group of eight people that you really like (or in my case, love). What an experience.
Saw it while driving past and was surprised that there weren’t many people. Asked to stay in one of their outdoor domes and they one up specifically for us. We were surprisingly the only one’s outside. Wonderful service and good food.
What an experience to dine at their garden! We've been here many times and they still manage to surprise me how bad the service can get. Food takes forever to arrive (lunch can easily be 3 hours), drinks get mixed up, usually there's not enough glasses or cutlery for everyone, they don't bring the restaurant menu even though they could serve you the food. It was very entertaining to watch mice run around last time. Still, no other place around can beat their garden and we will be coming back.
Really nice place, service was really good and food was good. Would visit again...
Beautiful place to eat and drink
Tout était parfait, la cuisine L’endroit est magique c’est très beau 🥰
I had a lovely afternoon in the garden at Ken's at the Doubletree Hilton. This is my second visit. Yesterday I went to meet a friend for lunch but we ended up staying the whole afternoon. ALL of the staff are extremely attentive and the service is exemplary. Amongst others we were served by Arun and Tibou who went out of their way for us, gave us great suggestions for dining options and we even got an off-menu dessert. For starters, I had the chicken tikka with raita £9, and for my main, I had the tilapia fillets £17. Both courses were delicious and perfectly prepared and presented (hats off the the chef). Overall a delightful experience. Thank you, Arun, Tibou and all the staff
I Came to Kens for Valentine’s Day really not expecting to have the amazing time that I did as I’ve read review… I must say sometimes experience things for your self and don’t go by just reviews…. Look out for sachin as he gave us the best service for that night x
Hidden gem in the heart of Kensington. The igloos outside in the garden are super cosy and warm in the winter. In the summer the outside turns into a beach! Beautiful view of the church from the garden. Lovely afternoon tea and champagne ! Philippe the manager is super ☺️
One of the great secret gardens in London. Absolutely fab on a nice summer's day!
drank a loada cans from the supermarket and they didnt notice. sound
Nice place in Kensington.
Lovely place for a beer 😍
Superb
The restaurant of the Doubletree by Hilton is a pleasant place, but it is the domes outside in the garden area that make the difference. We had dinner in one of the them. Lovely setting, beautiful in a summer evening as the day draws to an end. The food was really good and the service excellent. Our starters of squid & tempura prawns, charcutterie platter and crispy halloumi were very good. Our mains of mixed grill, tilapia and rib eye steak were also high quality ingredients very well cooked and presented. The desserts were equally good. Overall, dinner in the dome is a wonderful experience, with delicious food and excellent service. Highly recommended!
Lovally secret garden/beach out the back. Perfect for a summers evening. Service was great also! And yummy drinks
The atmosphere, location and general decore of this place is excellent. Lovely toilets, very bougie apparently. Service was great. The burger was slightly underdone which was disappointing. The lady who I was with has very high standards and her main issue with this restaurant was that the ketchup/mayo came in the little plastic packets you find at a chip shop. For the prices and location we expect those little glass pots. Please sort it out!
You can enjoy replace and have fun on amazing place and without the highly recommended to go there
Great location, grand service
Nice place.
The venue was lovely; flipflops and beach towels available on request. Nice range of drink choices & the food was fine if a little sparse. Service was atrocious however. Everyone but the managers apparently were new, when there was an issue or request no one wanted to deal with it (I dont know seemed to be their catch phrase), one woman had an argument with me because the manager was too busy to speak to me even though when I booked the manager told me to deal with him personally. 1 set of drinks took 35 minutes & I had to go in and collect them myself. The other took almost 1 hour- the waitress forgot to give the order to the bartender and we were told to wait another 20 minutes: 2 drinks didnt arrive, even then! I asked for the food to be cooked and brought out in batches but it all came together. I asked 3 times for plates- eventually got handed a stack of tea saucers that I had to lay out myself. Most of the wait staff seemed to be only in the garden (not the beach) as several people sitting close to us also kept going inside to chase their drink orders. I had been before (to the garden) and it was fine. But the service last night was terrible. Fortunately the manager took the service charge of the bill as well as the price of the drinks we never ordered but were charged for anyway.
Over priced but decent. They were out of a few of the dishes we wanted to order. The steak was great my husband had, the mushroom pasta was ok and the pizza was similar to something frozen you would buy at a grocery store. Service was slow although it seems they were understaffed and doing their best. Also they were playing really loud awful music.
Is an average place with simple food but overpriced base in quality not location...
Realy nice garden.
Good food for good cost
We went there for my husband’s birthday. The place itself is charming but that’s where it ends. It took an hour to get the first set of drinks. They forgot about my friend’s drink and she had to wait 40 mins for her Bellini. One of us then decided to go get the drinks ourselves: the food served was over cooked but at least served on time(as if that’s a bonus) The staff is truly not interested and don’t speak English for most of them. Had it not been for the sun and sand, it would have been a massive disappointment.
Hostess was very friendly and professional, however the food left alot to be desired. stay away from the "farmers grill menu", not sure why they keep this on the menu as it is definitely not value for money and very dissapointing. I would be embarrassed to serve this in a restauarant.
It's always something at this place but they get an extra star for the nice garden. I work next door and with few exceptions, the staff are disinterested and apathetic about service norms...even by British standards. Speaks to the management, I feel.
Bad environment, low service, but high price and fees
I should start by saying that this review is not reflective of the menu, as we did not stay long enough to try the food. We booked online, dazed by the idea of dining in the garden pods. On arrival though we were seated indoors, in what was a very generic hotel restaurant. We did ask to sit outside but were told there was no availability (even though we booked a few weeks ago). The atmosphere was very dull. Mainly hotel guests. The menu didn’t excite us, or the kids. It felt that no attention or love had been given to it. My partner is a real foodie and not fussy at all, but even she couldn’t find anything that tickled her tastebuds. The wine menu was expensive for what you go. I’m not prepared to pay £35-45 for a bottle of wine I can find on the supermarket shelf. So, after gearing ourselves up for a birthday treat in a pod, we left after 10 mins. The waiter wasn’t keen to know why we were leaving. It’s like they were used to it. It would take a menu change and more clarity on use of the pods for us to go back.
I came down with my family because my auntie had her wife's wake here and when we arrived the beers were flat and the wine was corked it was sad to see that the staff have not been trained to pour a simple pint. I also went to see the the Manager because I am trying to start my own photography buisness and because I wasn't wearing a smart shirt he took one look at me and refused to talk to me. The place is absolutely stunning and for London the prices are good but from the buisness side of things it's very poorly managed.
I’m sorry to say that it was a bad dining experience. Our family of seven arrived late evening and did not want to go out so we ate at the hotel. None of us could finish our meals except my daughter liked her club sandwich. The boys would not eat half their burgers, and my wife’s curry chicken and rice was too spicy. I could only stomach a few bites of my fish, though the chips were fine. Most of the tables were a mess and they kept leaving a door to the garden open that was near our table.
I had the pleasure of dining at Kens Bar. 4 visits in total. Every time was wonderful! Good food, drinks and super service. Shakshi was our service provider for these visits. Her personality, knowledge and experience made our visits forever memorable! Thank you Shakshi. The Secret Garden charm was so pretty!
Very beautiful place but the service was quite bad. There was no one to greet me at the door. I wondered around to eventually find my party. We couldn’t call anyone from our table so I went to the bar. When I got to the bar staff were very slow and relaxed, cleaning glasses in between serving customers?! When I eventually got served, some young girls walked in and asked the bartender a question...he didn’t tell them to wait a second or direct them to another free colleague, he just stopped making my drink and started talking to them for 5 minutes. Maybe the place would be busier if the service matched the prices.
Well, what an experience… we were seated around the corner all by ourselves to start with, and obviously were forgotten about as we waited for 15min for service. Can’t rate the food as our orders were never taken.
Very bad service, I made a reservation and it took more than 100 days to get the money back, I do not recommend it
Very expensive for what it is, £5.65 for a Guinness, I didn't think much of the service either.
