Good higher end restaurant. I cannot say every dish was superb but the overall experience was pleasant. I’d love the portion sizes to be slightly bigger. The starters were just okay, nothing more. The portion of veal tartare was small, with asparagus being more massive taking the prevalence over the tartare itself. I could not taste the meat much because the mayo sauce overwhelmed everything. The rabbit raviolo had pretty basic taste but the onion velouté was nice and balanced the overall taste. The pancetta was too stiff in my opinion. Okay overall but not something I’d order again. The mains were pretty good. Aged beef rump cap had a right level of tenderness and the oxtail and bacon fondant was an amazing addition. The pork presa itself was nothing special as a meat cut, but the overall dish was offset by the crackling, nice sauces and pickled veggies - they played well together and left a pleasant impression. The desserts were definitely a highlight! Amazing passion fruit soufflé with ice cream - just melted in my mouth and the balance between sweet and sour was delightful. The salted caramel malt tart was one of the best desserts in my life - definitely a hit for the salted caramel lovers. The stout ice cream was a great addition although it melted quickly and became watery. The suggested wine pairings for the desserts were great. The staff was reasonably attentive with no major hiccups. One minor thing was that they were late to remove the amuse bouche plates but I did not mind at all. However, it definitely felt like some guests were more special than the others which I am not sure should be the case for a Michelin starred restaurants. The interior was very basic and had many aspects which would benefit from some maintenance - for example the water temperature and pressure in the bathroom or ceiling paint around the lamps.
My wife and I went for a Valentine’s Day lunch and really enjoyed the food. We had the tasting menu, which was a bit pricier (the lunch set at £39.95 is a bargain for the food quality), but it was well worth it. The cured sea bream appetiser with togarashi and the linguine with black truffles were sublime. The service was attentive but not intrusive, and the restaurant was spacious but still intimate. It’s a thoroughly enjoyable venue, and I highly recommend it.
Went for a special birthday foe a family member. Large group in a private room. Very attentive to us and polite, friendly throughout. Even brought a birthday treat for my brother in law. Food was tasty and as described. I advised my dietary requirements, and I received a menu updated to reflect the options I could choose from. Everyone had a lovely time. There were 3 generations present and the staff ensured everyone had a lovely experience.
They deserve the star!😍 Excellent food and service. I would like to have more starters and the waiter recommend me the tasting menu, too good to have it together with his recommended white wine, it’s perfect for my birthday dinner. P.S: amazing price less than £170 per head with the tasting menu+wine+ birthday sweet.
We've been coming to La Trompette for many years to celebrate special occasions and it's never, ever disappointed. The quality of the produce, the flavours and the wonderful presentation make the high price tag worth paying - you know you're eating dishes that have taken significant time, effort and passion to get to the table. Some small things have changed over the years - the rather cold post-refit décor or the loss of the range of breads offered at the beginning of the meal for example - but these are tiny niggles in what's a real treat as an overall experience. Finally, whatever the flavour of the soufflé on offer - don't miss it!!!!
A delightful birthday dinner at La Trompette. This one Michelin-starred restaurant has a fixed price set menu. We started with some beautifully dressed Colchester rock oysters. I had the cured sea bass starter which was stunning, and the better of the two starters we had (the other was the crab and scallop raviolo). While the roasted cod with razor clams I had was good, it was the Yorkshire grouse that really stood out and was perfectly cooked and paired with crushed root vegetables, celeriac purée, port roasted figs and crispy pancetta. The desserts were good (banana soufflé and roasted pear financier) but we weren't wowed in the same way the cured sea bass and grouse wowed us. The service was great, they even brought out a second dessert (brownie) for my partner's birthday.
One of my 11 year old boys has been pestering me for a while to eat at a Michelin Star Restaurant, so decided to take them to La Trompette where I’ve eaten many times as they have a good choice /selection of mains. We had a lovely lunch on a Saturday and have to say it was really good as I was expecting. James ordered the best starter on the menu in my view - cured bream, citrus crème fraiche, kohlrabi, apple, lime and iced horseradish. It was fantastic, fresh and perfect delicate flavours. I had pork cheeks and Toulouse sausage, good but the bream was better. The roast duck breast was very good, melted in your mouth. The Lamb a la Nicoise was very good indeed and the olive mash to die for!! Desserts also very good, banana soufflé and chocolate delice finished the meal off very well indeed. Had a very good meal and will be back when finances allow as be good to bring my two girls and y wife. A winner at Cheltenham covered our meal!!
We went for a Thursday night dinner to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary. The one large problem I had with the menu was deciding what to have as it all looked fantastic. There is a tasting menu that seemed very good, but we didn’t fancy eating that many courses. The food we I pick was delicious. The staff are also brilliant, highly efficient and friendly. Lots of staff so the service is brilliant and didn't have to wait for service.
Thank you 🙏🏾 so very much for making my dad’s birthday meal feel special! The food was delicious, and you were so kind to us even after the delay due to bad traffic! Thank you again to all the staff who made the experience memorable!! We live close by and will definitely be coming back!
We had such a fantastic experience here! For starters, we ordered the scallop lobster bisque ravioli and the foie gras chicken liver pâté, and both were exceptional. The ravioli had a generous amount of lobster, and the bisque was perfect – rich and flavourful without that bitter aftertaste you sometimes get. The pâté was unbelievably soft and smooth, one of the best we’ve had. (No photos of these dishes as we absolutely devoured them 😂) For mains, we chose the beef and the pork cheek. Again, both dishes were outstanding - the pork was succulent, and the beef was tender and full of flavour. I especially loved the sweetcorn with the beef; it was such a lovely touch. For dessert, we had the chocolate salted caramel délice and the banana soufflé. My husband is a big salted caramel fan, so he was in heaven with the délice, while I much preferred the banana soufflé. It was light, not too eggy, and beautifully done - I especially loved the crispy bits in the soufflé. It came with a very sharp passionfruit sorbet, which at first felt a little mismatched, but it ended up being oddly addictive and I ended up enjoying them separately. Excuse my bad photos, which were a bit of an afterthought – I promise everything looked even better in real life!
A Michelin-starred gem tucked away on a quiet side street near Turnham Green station, offers a refined dining experience with a few highs and lows. The restaurant’s decor balances elegance and warmth, with grey paneling, sand-colored wallpaper, and striking abstract artwork. A welcome desk at the entrance features a Graham wine display with bronze bowls, setting a sophisticated tone. White tablecloths with a brown, sack-like design add a rustic touch, though the wooden-backed chairs are not the most comfortable. The space is well-structured, with a substantial number of tables for two, mirrors enhancing the sense of space, and a bar at the far end. Some outdoor seating is available for those who prefer al fresco dining. The meal started well with excellent bread and butter, but the Negroni was disappointingly average. Ordered from the set lunch with only two poor ions per course and there was also the option of the lunch menu with a half dozen option per course. The artichoke soup with chorizo was a pleasant surprise—despite initial concerns that the chorizo might overpower the dish, it added both depth of flavor and visual appeal. For mains, the fish with laksa sauce was enjoyable but not remarkable. The fish itself was well-executed, crispy on the outside, but the laksa sauce was unmemorable. The pork cheeks, however, were outstanding—fall-apart tender, with a rich and flavorful sauce. Desserts were a mixed bag. The blood orange sorbet was underwhelming, tasting like a generic citrus blend, but the lychee sorbet was much better. The standout was the chocolate and peanut delice slice—a beautifully layered dessert with a crunchy peanut base and a delicate milk ice cream that complemented it subtly. The petit four caramel was another highlight. Service was attentive throughout, and the ambiance was pleasant, though it became notably busier around 1:30 PM. Overall, La Trompette delivers a solid Michelin-starred experience, though some dishes outshine others. Would return, but with slightly adjusted expectations.the set lunch is excellent value for money.
Just home from a wonderful evening at La Trompette. So blessed to have such a fabulous restaurant on our doorstep. The ceviche was a poem as delicious on the pallet as it was beautiful on the plate. My beef was tender beautifully cooked & of course a banana soufflé to finish a classic finale. Service is delightful and we came home so happy pleased to have had such a special evening at a special place.
The setting outside is lovely with a great ambience. The staff were nice. The restaurant had nice decor. The food was very good and all 3 course were very filling. We loved everything - the lamb and duck with foi gras were particularly good, we did prefer the lamb slightly over the beef (although the dauphinoise potatoes were great). However the soufflé was definitely the star of the show. And it's a very generous portion! (The custard and cherry dessert wasn't our favourite.) And they had a good selection of dessert wines. The salted caramel chocolate truffles at the end were a delicious treat, too!
We had a special evening at La Trompette Chiswick, and everything was perfect. The staff were amazing, the customer service was exceptional, and the food was of the highest standard. A truly memorable experience. Thanks Adele for organising my husband's birthday dinner
This restaurant for many years has been our place for a special occasion and it never disappoints. The food and service is exceptional and the staff are very attentive and make sure you have a very pleasant evening in a quiet understated manner. Anything on the menu is wonderful to eat but we always ask the sommelier for his wine choice to go with our particular choice of dish. I was very touched to have a birthday dessert. You cannot fail to have a good dining experience here. Enjoy!
Excellent food. I ordered braised lamb as starter and deer meat as main. Both were excellent. Desserts were good but not outstanding. I ordered the bitter chocolate delice. Too sweet. Price was reasonable. £50 for 3 courses at lunchtime in the weekend. Staff were ok (not outstanding). I’ll be back again!
This is a gem of a place. We went here for a birthday celebration and were not disappointed. The decor is fabulous, with quirky artwork on the walls. The service was attentive but by no means over bearing. The food was extremely well presented and tasted superb. I implore you to go and visit, it will definitely be a memorable meal.
The starters and mains were great, the staff were attentive, the ambient is pleasant and the desserts were really refreshing. Highly recommended!
Amazing experience. Expensive, but definitely worth it. Chicken, duck, avocado, bread are great. The cheese selection tasting as the desert is nice as well (if you decide to choose Strathearn cheese, be prepared for very strong and unexpected taste). Portion size is good and you can expect to leave the restaurant satisfied. I think it's a great choice for a rare lunch/dinner out or a date.
So tasty! I didn't even realise it was a michelin star restaurant when i first booked it but it's very well deserved. I enjoyed all 3 courses very much and the prices are very reasonable considering all the above. Staff were really friendly and attentive as expected. Highly recommended, will definitely visit again.
This is the first time we have been to this restaurant despite living in Chiswick for 3 years. We chose the 3 - course lunch menu, all of which were delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.
It was a great night on my solo. Foods were great in both taste and decoration. The staff were attentive, friendly and eager to help me signing on wifi. So I didn’t make a fuss when they brought me still water than sparkling water as I ordered.
Wow the food was definitely worthy of way more than 1 michelin star. The service a little slow but understandable as there was a large group booked perhaps, but even so. Can’t wait to try it again soon! 😍 thank you.
Came here to celebrate a new job and it was such an incredible experience from start to finish! We had the taster menu and it was stunning. The restaurant was full and yet the staff were very attentive, kind and helpful! Will be coming back again for sure.
Really enjoyed the food there. The staffs are very friendly and responsive. The overall dining experience is excellent, would definitely visit again! # Starter: Roast Veal Sweetbread, toasted grains, garden cos and ricotta The sweetbread was beautifully seasoned and cooked. The outside was crispy while the inside was tender. The grains were soaked in a flavourful sauce. # Main: Crisp Iberico suckling pig, chick peas, kohlrabi, fennel and loquats The sauce come with it really did a good job neutralising the crispy yet greasy texture of the skin. The meat felt a bit dry but the sauce compensated for that. I just wish more sauce was served. # Dessert: Rhubarb crumble souffle, rhubarb ripple rice ice cream The crumble topping and the ice cream really added more layers to the flavour. Souffle itself is a bit less sweet than I'd hope for (though tbf I have a sweet tooth), but the addition of the crumble and ice cream created this well balanced taste that I like quite a lot.
it’s really a tasty restaurant, i would definitely go there again, great service, great food, staff very friendly, it really exceeded the expectation. maybe more advertisement for the restaurant, definitely more ideas can help like others
We had lunch here on Good Friday and loved the spring menu. I had an aromatic wild garlic veloute for starters followed by succulent lamb loin with crispy belly main course. Then a lovely light and fluffy banana soufflé for dessert served with a sharp passion fruit ice cream. Beautiful food and surroundings with a friendly service!
Had a fantastic evening at La Trompette. Went for the taster menu and it didn't disappoint. All courses were really good, but the scallop really stood out. Excellent.
Tried tasting menu here. Strongly recommend the wine pairing with the menu. The matching was perfect wine paring make the food moves to a higher level. Best wine pairing ever had.
Lovely Michelin Star Restaurant. Attentive but intrusive staff. Food is excellent! Sit outside if you can. Good pricing for 3 course dinner
We are fortunate to go on quite a regular basis, so sometimes we take for granted just how fantastic and totally consistent La Trompette is. Kerne and the FOH team really do a wonderful job and Greg and the chef team are hitting the ball out of the park! Chapeau LaT
Been here many times and have yet to be disappointed. Superb Michelin level cuisine at a reasonable price. Great setting, superb well trained & attentive staff plus the food (which is after all the reason for coming) was next level. Think Chez Bruce or Trinity for a fair comparison. Bravo.
Returning after a couple of years, we were: pleased to see the refreshed interior, impressed with the wine list, blown away by the truly excellent cooking and delighted with the warm and friendly service. Bravo!
Enjoyed the visit. I would rate this restaurant as casual fine dining. Between a bib and a star. The food is to the point and well cooked. Enjoyed all dishes from start to finish. The bread is well-made, and the set menu is delicious and offers plenty of variation. Wine list is nice and has the usual UK prices :D. Glasware could be more elevated. The evening was very nice and enjoyed all aspects as well as some of the wine pairings. Sommelier was friendly as well as the service. As the evening progressed, the standard went down. At the end had to flag the service staff multiple times for the wine list, to order, ask for the sommelier to advise. In the end, we did not order more wine and asked for the bill. Wish they would bring this up to the standard of a fine dining restaurant. The dining room is large and might need more staff. All in all a very nice restaurant, good solid hearty cooking with a little bit "clunky" service moments.
Food was nice. Service was basic; serving each course without much description, but the menu had captured the key ingredients (I usually took pictures of the menu so that I could refer back to). I was expecting something more exciting from a Michellin star restaurant at this price tag for 3 courses. Rather low value for money in a very competitive F&B scene in London in general. Dessert was too sweet and tasted artificial for my liking.
Went there for a special occasion with my husband and overall it was a pleasant experience, however I do think as a one Michelin star restaurant there is plenty of room for improvement. Opted in for the 3 course meal and added an oyster each to start with and was very pleased with the oyster. The best course for me was the poussin (main course), although I do think they can tone down a tad bit on the salt but loved every elements of the dish. I had the custard and the rhubarb for dessert which was slightly disappointing and nothing special, so I would defo recommend the soufflé which my husband ordered. I also really enjoyed the wine recommended to me.
Overall we enjoyed our experience here. The food itself was presented as you would expect, with flair. The tastes were interesting, the wife’s cod and curried cauliflower was particularly delicious. My beef was cooked perfectly. The reason it doesn’t get the full 5 stars is probably because the service was too fussy. Too many people coming up to us, after a while it just got confusing. The waiters all seemed rather tense too which affected the mood in the place. But in spite of this we still enjoyed our time here and would consider coming back.
We were a bit disappointed with this restaurant. The starters were tasteless (the linguini was very watery and the aubergine soup didn’t taste like aubergine at all). The main courses were ok-ish, but there was no wow factor as you would expect in a Michelin restaurant. Service was ok, the staff was nice.
