I have taken special time to write this review. I do write reviews regularly but mostly I write quick short review but this place deserves Special Recognition ☺️ To start, we arrived at 10.45pm after finishing our shopping- For last one month we have been travelling around London, Switzerland, Spain, and Iceland. We are from Australia, so you can imagine we have been dining around the world in all different countries. The Food tasted delicious and yummy 😋 We ordered- Masala Idli, Cauliflower Chilli Fry, Mango Kalan, Paneer Butter Masala, Cheera Paripu Thalichathu (all vegetarian dishes as we are vegetarian), Msala Dosa, Veg Biryani, Garlic and Butter Nann, Mango Lassi All dishes tasted 10/10. Their Masala Dosa is one the best we have tried in many different restaurants so far. The Hospitality was 10/10 I highly recommend, highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for delicious Indian food in London.

The most authentic Kerala food I’ve found in the UK. Everyone should try this restaurant if they want truly tasty South Indian (Kerala) food.

Authentic Kerala restaurant in the heart of London. We had about 5 dishes and the Aleppey fish curry and the duck roast is worth mentioning. Food tasted fresh and less oily as well. Loads of roadside parking available at the nearby roads. Great service by friendly staff, commendably less waiting time. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area! you know the food in food when there’s an empty plate in the review :)

A Truly Authentic Onam Sadya Experience 🌼🍽️ I recently had the pleasure of enjoying an Onam Sadya at Shilpa Restaurant and I must say—it was an absolute delight from start to finish. The meal was not just food; it was a celebration on a banana leaf! From the moment the sadya was served, you could feel the authenticity. Every item was thoughtfully prepared, served warm, and bursting with traditional Kerala flavors. The kaalan, olan, and avial were perfectly balanced, while the sambhar and rasam had that comforting, home-style touch. Special mention to the pachadi and injipuli—they brought the perfect contrast to the richness of the meal. Of course, no Onam Sadya is complete without the payasams, and Shilpa Restaurant didn’t disappoint. The parippu payasam and palada were heavenly, rich, and just the right amount of sweet to round off the feast. The service was warm and attentive, and the ambience festive yet relaxed—ideal for enjoying a traditional celebration with family and friends. If you’re looking to experience an authentic, delicious Onam Sadya that respects tradition and doesn’t cut corners, Shipa Restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

Great little place. The food was really good but just a tad spicy for me. But I have little spice tolerance. I loved the artwork on the walls. Would recommend. They had a great selection to choice from. The prices I also thought were very reasonable.

Don't judge a book by it's cover. This restaurant is fantastic. We got 4 mains and all were delicious, flavorful, fresh, well cooked and great portions. Sides and breads were equally good. The service was charming and cheerful and helpful. Whilst the decor and place was basic, no more was required and it made for a lovely place for a date. We will be back.

Had a sumptuous dinner from the restaurant. Tried their Kerala Porotta and meat Mappas this time. I’ve to say this - I’ve had Indian foods around London, but have got nothing that matches the authenticity, taste, quality and affordability that Shilpa Restaurant offers. The interior is quite cozy and is decorated with traditional South Indian artefacts and paintings, enhancing the overall ambiance. The service from the friendly staff was within reasonable time, considering the dishes were prepared fresh. It’s a no brainier for anyone around Hammersmith to visit this gem of a place and relish the authentic Indian cuisine. It’s located within a small walk from the Ravenscourt station- district line. I’ll surely visit them again whenever I am around there.

Amazing! We had appam, roasted chicken, egg curry and iddiuppam - all were great. We order idli and sambhar earlier via ubereats which also one of the best sambhar. Srijesh is amazing to help choose and very friendly.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Chiswick. Had an amazing , very close to authentic Kerala lunch here. Kerala paratha and beef ularthiyadhu were delicious and must try. I also tried Kappa Biryani , it was delicious but I personally felt like there was room for improvement. Fish curry and Kerala brown rice were very good as well. I already know that I will be a regular at this place. Great portion size. I want to try their appam and egg roast , chicken roast etc., next and few other dishes like mappas as well. This was a truly wonderful experience as this is the only authentic Kerala restaurant at least in West London. Highly recommended.

I recently visited this restaurant with three other people. It is a cozy place with appetizing food. Every dish I ate was bursting with flavors, and the blend of spices with the veggies or meat was just perfect. The chef really knows what he's doing. The service was excellent, and the manager, Ajith, was very kind to us. I will definitely visit this restaurant again whenever I get the chance.

Absolutely delightful experience for a solo dinner date!…As you might be able to tell from the before and after photos of a very clean plate! Would recommend! Upon entering the restaurant you’re welcomed by the warm cozy feeling of heat which is much nerve in a colds winter evening. When I spoke with host/waiter at the front I informed him that I had a gluten allergy and he made sure to speak with the kitchen staff to ensure that they would be able to accommodate and make any necessary modifications to the preparation of the food. I ordered the appam and a potato curry dish. The appam is gluten free and prepared in a special pan. The curry was modified to omit flour as they can sometimes add it to thicken the curry. I will be returning to enjoy more tasty menu items!

This is the best food I’ve ever tried in the UK. It’s so delicious, I can’t even describe it in words! The staff are also very friendly. Especially Ajith.planning to come here next week with family and friends. It’s a lovely place—I would definitely recommend it to others.”

It’s a great experience and has left the best impressions! The ambiance is very welcoming and charming with Mural paintings and music. The service is unmatched. Hospitable hosts, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation. The Kerala Food menu is to die for, is extensive and seasonal to a particularly high standard. IT WAS FIRE!! Definitely fine dining. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of the menu in Shilpa Restaurant. This is my absolute favourite restaurant in London and will continue to visit with friends here again and again. Do yourself a favour and visit this lovely Shilpa restaurant in Hammersmith...

My review here is based on the criteria on somewhere that serves promptly during lunchtime for a group of 8 to 10 people and is reasonably priced. We pre-ordered the day before and turned up on time. Shortly after ordering drinks the food turned up so a big tick here. Everyone enjoyed the food and it was surprisingly well presented. Again a big tick for the food. I will caveat that statement with the fact we were someone who had been there before and given us some recommendations of what to order. We were able to finish and pay within half an hour of seating down with everyone feeling pretty satisfied. Overall I would recommend the restaurant for anyone looking for a place for lunch.

We had a tiring day around London and a below average lunch. We were craving for some nice Indian food before we leave London and literally this dinner at Shilpa’s saved our day. The food was fantastic and authentic. Especially the appam, fish Moilee and Aattu eraichii!!!! We didn’t want to leave and couldn’t get enough of the food. We h started with a refreshing pint of cobra and aattu eraichi on the side. Couldn’t ask for anything better than this. Would definitely come back for more.

We visited Shilpa Indian Restaurant in Hammersmith yesterday for their annual Onam Sadhya, and what a treat it was! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, with a wonderful festive spirit that truly celebrated Kerala’s cultural richness. The Sadhya itself was exceptional — an impressive spread of traditional Kerala vegetarian dishes served on a banana leaf, each one bursting with authentic flavour. From the tangy sambar and creamy avial to the perfectly balanced olan and crispy banana chips, every element was clearly prepared with care and respect for tradition. And just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, the meal ended with a divine payasam — rich, sweet, and absolutely soul-satisfying. It was the perfect way to round off a memorable feast. A big thank you to the team at Shilpa for bringing a slice of Kerala to London. This was more than just a meal — it was a beautiful cultural experience that my family and I will remember for a long time. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic South Indian cuisine in the city!

I had a very pleasant experience with Shilpa restaurant during my week long visit to UK, Hammersmith. Easily accessible location, and very pleasant atmosphere. Very polite staffs, who will help to choose the best meal for you from their menu. Very delicious food, especially those who loves indian and kerala foods. Fish curry I had was super. Loved it. They also helped me with the suggestions on many tourist spots in London. I strongly recommend Shilpa restaurant for people visiting Hammersmith, UK.

Beautiful food. Read the reviews and headed here with the family. We enjoyed biryani’s, tikka masala, korma and some delicious chicken bites. Thoroughly enjoyed by all. We were the only ones dining at the time (late Sunday night in winter) so couldn’t really rate the full atmosphere. Service was friendly and attentive. Thanks for this experience. No photos as we enjoyed the food too much and dived right in to it. Definitely worth a visit.

We enjoyed appam with pal curry, porotta with beef, and idiyappam with egg roast – all were delicious, authentic, and full of flavour. The service was also good, with friendly and attentive staff. Overall, it was an enjoyable meal and I would definitely recommend Shilpa for anyone looking for good Kerala food.

This is the best place for South Indian food in town. Quality is always 10/10 and they always ram your box full the taste never changes it’s consistently that same special flavour every. single. time. Palakkadan chef also do amazing Thali meals .Nice melt in your mouth chunks of meat! I highly recommend coming to Shilpa. It really isn’t that same mass produced nonsense it’s made with love and you can tell. Best wishes !!!!.

Nice Indian restaurant, sporting a huge menu, with a lot of choices across various kinds of Indian traditional dishes. They have a limited choice of beers, though. The dishes are nice and very well presented. Both the table and the dishes gave a good impression in terms of the level of hygiene and care in the preparation. Unfortunately, the same could not be said of the toilets. Reaching the restaurant is easy, as the location is very convenient. The furnishing and decoration of the place is modern, even minimalistic. The night I went there, the noise level was low, because the place was not crowded at all. The service was courteous and quick.

I like it spicy but wife doesn't! I ordered spicy Jalfrezi she ordered tikka masala,it was as hot as mine so she didn't eat it! Ask for 2 drinks got 1& later asked for another drink & he forgot! Think they to busy with takeaways & forgot about the people in the restaurant!. Portions were a good size & price was good value we got 2 cokes 1 bottle of water 2 onion bhaji 2 rice chicken Jalfrezi & chicken tikka masala garlic naan Think it was about £52

Tasty Kerala cuisine served here. We had a few dishes to share incl paripu, green bean thoran, beef Ulathiyarthu and Kerala fish curry. All were delicious and would happily recommend. Don't forget to order some appam/hoppers or parata bread to go with the dishes.

Update 2: ordered online. had beef chilly, kerala porotta, Kerala chicken roast, kappa meen, and kappa biryani. Pleasant staff, quick delivery. Food was good. Chicken pieces were a bit bland. Enjoyed the fish curry with kappa. Update 1: reached the restaurant a bit before opening time. Owner generously slowed us to wait inside even though it was not open for guests. A big thank you! Food was awesome. Generous potions, fluffy porotta. Never had that good Kerala porotta in UK. Visit 1 (sometime in 2023): good was a bit too oily. To be fair to the cook, we went on the day before onam, probably the busiest day in their calendar. Payasam - was really good. They charge a 10% service charge without asking/telling. I did not contest it as service was pleasant. Washrooms were neat, tables were small.

MUST TRY We visited during dinner hours . Must say . Food and hospitality was impeccable. Very clean but small place . We enjoyed the food we ordered . Do try the kerala Porotta and authentic beef dishes . Mind that no parking around so better use public transport . All the best

This is our first time trying Shilpa Restaurant. We have had a lot of Indian takeaways in Chiswick but first time giving Kerelan before. We ordered a few dishes to share and was delivered via Uber eats. The food in general were a bit more spicy than other take away we have had. We tried the chicken tikka masala chicken 65 and cauliflower chilli fry with the kernels paratha. An interesting dish was the lamb erachi mappas- a speciality from central kerela.

S

Great little place in Hammersmith its hard to find good Indian places these days that are not super oily. I went with my date here as loves Indian food, the place was decorated nicely simple and clean, we had a look at the menu we got a number of dishes so we could try a number of things the menu had a good range to suit most peoples tastes. We got a Kerelan spiced deep fried prawns, these were a starter, it was alright a little of the spices peeking through, though maybe would have been better in a sauce then again it is a starter. We also got paneer tikka these were a good portion for a starter and a chutney to dip them into, they had different kinds maybe go for the spiced on next time, not enough of the flavour coming through on the tikka ones, but still pleasant. To follow we had Dosa which is like an Indian crepe I guess but crunchy with sambar like a lentil which is spicy and the dosa is filled with potatoes inside really hit the spot and the size of it gigantic so maybe order only one. don't just eat the meat dish try the vegetarian dishes they may surprise you. For the mains we ordered a Lamb Biryani which was one of the best i have had recently, and similar to how my mum would cook at home and my favourite of the dishes i had followed by King fish curry South Indian style, which was medium spiced so the flavours were warming as it went down with the meaty fish pieces. Its worth noting they did take a little while to bring these to us, however it was all seemingly being cooked fresh presented well and tasted great so it was not an issue. The only small downside and this might be to my own tastes was the Mango lassi a little too sweet for my liking, but nice none the less. all this for £40 nicely priced, with food they will kinda wrap up for you if you wish to take away. I would definitely come back here.

M
Momo

The dosa was decent but the chutney and sambhar were below average, the chicken biryani was below average too, some chicken pieces were very hard in the biryani too. The service was fantastic, sadly let down by the quality of food. Prices are fair for the area so that’s an advantage. Might be back in the future to try starters but definitely will avoid the main course dishes.
