Now restyled as Platapian (formerly Patara), it’s like a foodie tour of Thailand, from the north and Isan to the deep south. Spicy northern sai oua sausages, sublime crispy crab pancake (think soufflé stuffed with crab meat), delicately flavoured Isan duck salad, hearty five spice beef foreribs, razor clams with a kind of fusion prik pao sauce… and of course mango sticky rice with just the right level of saltiness in the coconut milk. Make sure to start with the chicken skins as a snack with cocktails (strikingly similar to pork scratchings, but with subtle flavour of lime leaf?). The ma krut (lime leaf) Collins is the perfect cocktail for a heatwave. Good wine choices. Super friendly service. Thank you for letting us crash your opening event 🙏. We’ll be back!
Platapian by Patara has a newly renovated, warm and contemporary space. The menu is a bit more expensive than before but worth it for the quality. We stopped by before the theater and tried a couple of dishes, both were very good. The manager and staff were friendly and welcoming. I’ll definitely return to try more.
The food was A-MA-ZING!! My hub took me for a surprise birthday dinner here tonight and we had a really wonderful time. The staff sang a happy birthday while they brought out a dessert (I believe it was on the house) Napoleon exceeded his service for being charming and friendly and for always being attentive to customers needs. The staff were all very polite too.
The tastes and flavours at Platapian bring something genuinely new to the London scenr, a truer reflection of how Thai food is eaten in Thailand today, with dishes that follow current trends and regional inspirations. If you're looking for something more traditional, Patara is a solid alternative. The food at Platapian was fantast witheach dish felt unique, bold, and full of character. Dishes I had are pictured. Highlight was the rice with beef! I'm looking forward to visiting again to try the crab version!
The food is really good here, the environment is very nice and welcoming. I highly recommend Patara Soho greek street. To anyone craving authentic and flavorful Thai food. I’ll definitely be returning soon
Amazing food and service as always at Patara. We went here 17 years ago on a date and still come back. The soft shell crab and mango salad is a must along with the prawn and lemongrass. The deep fried sea bass is also gorgeous. If you’re feeling greedy have the pineapple and seafood fried rice. I enjoyed the Durian dessert to satisfy my sweet tooth. Beautiful food and a wonderful service, thank you as always.
I recently celebrated the New Year with friends at Patara in Soho, and it was an unforgettable experience. Our friend introduced us to the finest Thai cuisine—and it absolutely delivered. From the moment we stepped in, the warm and attentive service set the tone for the evening. The staff were incredibly friendly, making us feel right at home and ensuring every detail was taken care of. As for the food, it was nothing short of spectacular. The Green Curry was a perfect harmony of spice and flavour, the Coconut Braised Beef melted in your mouth with its rich, creamy texture, and the Thai Milk Tea provided a delightful sweet touch to round off the meal. Every dish showcased authentic Thai flavours with a refined presentation. For anyone in Soho seeking an extraordinary culinary experience, Patara is the place to go. Absolutely outstanding!
Food and cocktails are amazing. The restaurant looks very modern and all staff are friendly. Highly recommend for family and friends meals ❤️
I recently dined at Patara on Greek Street in Soho, and I must say, the experience exceeded all my expectations. A friend recommended this gem to me, and I’m so glad I took their advice. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable—friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. The staff made us feel welcome and ensured we had everything we needed throughout the evening. Now, let’s talk about the food—simply outstanding! Every dish we tried was bursting with authentic Thai flavors, presented beautifully, and cooked to perfection. The menu offers a wonderful variety, catering to both traditional tastes and those looking for a modern twist on classic dishes. If you're in Soho and looking for an exceptional dining experience, Patara is a must-visit. I can't recommend it highly enough!
We come to Patara Soho every year and it is always a wonderful experience. The food is great, the service is attentive and friendly, the atmosphere is fabulous. We recommend it because Patara is a great place to be and you always want to come back as soon as possible.
My partner and I had a great evening at Patara Soho. We popped in early on Saturday without a reservation. Soho was bustling with people as it was London Pride weekend. We were a bit hungry and only wanted some light snacks. The staff seated us quickly and were very friendly. We ordered a Champagne Mojito and an Aperol Spritz, which arrived promptly. We tried the Lemongrass Salad and Papaya Salad, both of which were delicious. The Mixed Satay and Fish Cakes were also excellent, reminding us of our time eating Thai food in Thailand. The service was outstanding. We highly recommend this place.
The decor and atmosphere of this restaurant are wonderful. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious, especially the fish. The food was beautifully presented.
Great evening here. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Food was very tasty and beautifully presented. There were plenty of choices on the menu including vegetarian and fish. There were some different dishes from a standard Thai restaurant which was good. I tried the soft shell crab and mango salad which was delicious. I will definitely return for a third visit when I am next in London.
The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was excellent, especially The manager Jub is very professional and friendly . Highly recommended soft shell crab salad and Tom yum prawn, both are my favourites .
Couldn’t ask for more, a lovely and authentic Thai experience with excellent service and atmosphere. We were searching without a reservation and many restaurants were fully booked, so this was initially slightly speculative as they had tables free. An excellent choice. We chose the “silver” menu to try various dishes, all good. For theatre district / soho cocktails and food decent prices. Service swift. Nice to try Thai wine - excellent with the food, not much on its own. All highly recommended
Beautiful restaurant and decor, delicious food, friendly staff and quick service. They also surprised my friend with dessert when they asked what the special occasion was as we were all dressed up and we said it was her birthday we were celebrating!! Enjoyed our meal out at Patara Soho, will be back again!
Very pleasant find for business dinner - spacious restaurant, very good service, and very good, freshly prepared Thai food. Set menu easy option. All dishes superbly presented.
Exquisite Thai food, probably some of the best I've had in London. The sea bass was definitely a highlight, and it was great to see authentic dishes that you don't get everywhere, such as Thai omelettes and the Thai ice tea. Excellent service throughout the meal.
Visited on a Sunday at 5pm and was seated straight away. Fantastic food of high quality and great ambiance too. Pad Thai and Lamb shank were great portions and they changed one of the orders around upon request. Mocktails were also very tasty. I can see why people said it’s too dark inside because the lights were dimmed whilst we were eating but I didn’t mind. My friend who wears glasses took a bit of adjusting. Overall I would recommend this place just be prepared to spend a little.
We have heard that Patara has just announced the new dishes. Therefore, we decided to have a go for it, at their biggest branch in the heart of London. (There are 5 branches in London.) Upon arrival without reservation, we tried to ask a staff for a cozy corner in the front part of the restaurant as to dine at the quiet corner. They provided the table that we would like with a warm welcome. Appreciated about it. We placed an order for 2 dishes of their new menu items and some interesting dishes and also, chose the red wines that would be well paired with their food and it turned to be the best combination. I am providing some examples if you would like to select wines with Patara Thai dishes. Tom Yum Soup, Hot and Sour soup with off-dry aromatic white wines and they have got Viognier. After white so we would like to go for red as well, the first bottle of red, we chose DOCG super Tuscan red wine. Well, Chianti is the best choice for a simple grill or roast. Crispy Pork Chilli and Basil with wines that balance its rich, fatty texture and savory flavors, we chose Cabernet Sauvignon for this as well. It would be absolutely 100% perfect if they have a dry rose from Provence or a bottle of Riesling from Germany that we all know it the grestest wines to pair with Thai food. Anyway, highly recommened Patara Soho branch for the best Thai cuisine. 🤍
Authentic Thai food. The price is relatively high but still reasonable since the portion is really big. Highly recommended for Thai food lover.
Had a full 3 course meal and every part of it was amazing. I left feeling full but not heavy. Got to try a thai dessert that is new to me, the coconut sundae, which was the perfect way to finish the meal. The staff were very polite and accommodating. I would 100% come again. Going to try the Mango and sticky rice next time. 10/10 would recommend!!
We went for lunch on 26th October with my friends as a birthday celebration, we stayed for well over 4 hours and the staff were so kind and did not rush us out. The service, hospitality and food ( I am a strict vegetarian) everything was superb. Absolutely will go again and respect the timing as they are so kind 😅
Went here for a meal for my daughter’s pre-birthday. We had the classic meal for 2 which was £52 per head. The food throughout was very tasty, clean plates all round. The staff were very friendly and even surprised my daughter by singing happy birthday and bringing out a lovely dessert for her. Would definitely return here to eat.
Akshay provided great customer service. He is fast & efficient. Please recognize his hard work. Great foods too. We love platters & curry chicken & green curry prawns.
Went there last Saturday and the food and service were both excellent. Been to Thailand very recently and the food was very authentic and the dishes we had reminded me of then. A tiny bit of a warning though, be ready for Thai spicy, not European spicy! 😁 Really efficient service in a pleasant environment. Would definitely return. 👍👍
Some of our friends took us for dinner and we were delighted to enjoy some delicious dishes. The restaurant is located in the very heart of London's theatre district. One of the Best Restaurants in Soho! Great quality and fine presentation of Thai dishes, both traditional and contemporary.
Lychee martinis are brilliant!! The riceberry rice is delicious! I’m shocked they had it on the menu! A nice change! I ordered too much food but it was brilliant! I will go back again as there’s other items I really want to try and I would really recommend ESPECIALLY if you like coconut!! See the menu it’ll make sense!! And look at the desert menu! Half of it is coconut deserts which I adore!
The most authentic Thai food I ever had in London. We got the three flavor fish, Pad see ew, Thai papaya salad, and Chor muang. It was so flavorful and taste amazing. The service was really kind, friendly and helpful. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great.

amazing food with great customer service, we were able to find a seat without reservetion on a saturday evening! the khao soi and sago black bean coconut milk dessert is a must try!
The food and cocktails were superb! The staffs are also very lovely. 😊
Brilliant atmosphere , in a well air conditioned room perfumed by lemongrass aromas. Very very good food and as a Thai person living abroad, I have always used this place as something to give my non Thai colleagues a taste of authentic Thai cuisine. The way the food is presented and the way the restaurant is decorated makes me feel like I am home - without boarding a 12 hour Heathrow flight of course! I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to embark on their journey of trying Thai dishes. What I recommend is the lemon steamed sea bass, the lemongrass sauce fried sea bass and some coconut rice to eat it with! I will be back!!
10/10, I can't wait for my next visit Went to catch up with a friend recently at patara and had an amazing experience with wonderful food. We got a variety of dishes and every one of them was better than the last. The servers are friendly and helped us pick what to eat.
The food was really good, especially the lamb massaman. The green curry wasn't great though, for a staple disitthat was disappointing. The starters were great - the duck rolls and corn fritters. Service was average at best as well, but worth going for the food.
The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was pleasant to eat and presented well. Though my favourite was the desert. The staff and interior design made the atmosphere and dining experience extremely pleasant. I would definitely visit again!
I had the the Green curry with beef and it was delicious. The place has air conditioner and the service is good, our waiter was Alvin and he was very attentive. It was my birthday though, specified in the booking but I didn't get any special attention.
Atmosphere was amazing, dumplings were amazing, calamari was exquisite and the sauces provided were clearly hand made and not store bought. Only let down was Lamb Shanks tasted bland for me personally , other than that, everything was amazing and I’d deffo go again. Very nice of them to throw in a little birthday dessert on the house too.
Had a very nice dinner with friends here. The place has a very nice design and is dark to almost a bar level. Service was OK, nothing special, I'd expect a bit more from a place at this pricing level. Same applies for the food - it was definitely better than the average Thai food restaurant, how ever it wasn't to up the level I'd expect from the place with this design and pricing, hence the 4 stars and not 5. Bottom line: nice option for a good food in a nice venue which is a bit pricy.
The food was excellent and service was very good. We went there on a Wednesday evening and did not have a reservation but still got a table for two. I liked that they brought our food very fast. I had the wild ginger beef which was an explosion of flavour in my mouth, awesome! Meat was very tender. I also liked the rice roll and the broccoli. Would have given 5 stars but it was quite pricey (especially the rice roll portion I found was a little small).
I visited Patara Soho on a Thursday evening with 5 friends, we had pre booked so had no issue getting a table it was fairly busy. Atmosphere was good we was sat downstairs would have preferred the ground floor but it was fairly busy so that’s understandable. Now to the food I went with 2 vegetarians, who really enjoyed the food and the selection they was given which was a huge plus. The food was really tasty this included the chilli beef and green chicken curry. The portion sizes were more generous than expected and the food was overall very tasty! I made a special request for a cake which was forgotten generally the service was average and not as attentive as it could have been.
Down in Soho and just a few mins walk from Tottenham Road station, this Thai restaurant was lovely. Great atmosphere good food and lovely staff who went above and beyond. The toilets are downstairs and when you go down, they have another pretty large sitting area which I wouldn't have know existed. Prices were ok..but yeah that's IMO. I had the lamb shank massaman and my friend had the sea bass for our main meals. Nothing to complain about. I know I'll be back.
Went for a 3 course meal with my partner, the food was good but it more of a inspired dish rather than authentic dish. Still very tasty but the flavours did not hit as well as I would expect thai food would be. Amazing dessert, cannot fault that. Lovely staff and medium noise level but seem a little quite to me as table next to me was listening to the conversation. Overall great dinner experience and would give the place a go again.
A very nice mother's day outing. The food was good, potions good - we ordered tooooooo much. Felt rushed to leave once finished and toilets downstairs. All in all a yes please.
Located near Soho. Good place to have engagement. It’s quite spacious also good was nice (I personally think most of the asian food was really nice in London). We ordered classic Som tum, green curry, kangkong and Tom yam soup. Green curry and soup were especially nice 🤤
I had pre-Christmas dinner here with my best friends. It was a bit of a hit and miss experience. The ambience would’ve been cosier if the lighting was more subdued. It was a bit noisy too. Maybe plying some Thai instrumental music in the background would help? We liked the salads but felt the noodles and curry could have been spicier. The coconut rice was well made and so was the Thai iced tea. Service was also good. As dining here was a bit on the pricey side, we expected more. But I’m willing to come back again for the salads and to explore other dishes in the menu.
Nice place with ok food but didn't blow me away, I've had better Thai food for far less money and a less uptight feeling elsewhere. The flower dumplings were delish but the massaman curry had not a lot of chicken but ALOT of big onions basically still whole, I know it's supposed to have potatos and onions but the ratio and size of onion pieces was off for me. Probably wouldn't return as it's just not my kind of place.
Went for lunch. When ordering onion-garlic-gluten free dishes, like fried rice and chicken with cashews, it's important that the portion size remains the same as the regular option and the effort to garnish is the same. The special request fried rice had noticeably less rice compared to the standard version, and the special request chicken with cashews had fewer cashews than the standard dish with no effort to garnish the chicken special request dish. As customers, we should expect that the special versions, even though they allow for customisation, do not come in smaller portions, especially since we are paying the full price. If the size is clearly reduced, it creates an imbalance in value and experience. The attached pictures to the left is the special request while to the right is the standard.
Very friendly personnel. However I didn’t like the way my noodle was prepared. It was watery and looks different from the picture on the menu card. I complaint about this and they were very professional and friendly with their response which I really appreciate.
Came here for dinner on a Friday evening after visiting an exhibition nearby. I saw the rating and reviews before making a reservation at this place thinking it would be good to try but honestly I was very disappointed with the food quality, of all things. We ordered the chili calamari as a starter to share but it was so bland with absolutely no salt or pepper in the batter and the batter itself was way too thick. The squid was obviously also over-fried and it was very hard to chew, what a poor starter for our meal. We complained to the waiter about it but we didn't even get an apology or offer to check with the kitchen. Also wasn't deducted on our bill. For mains, we went with prawn pineapple curry with coconut rice on the side and pad Thai with chicken. The curry was average, nothing exceptional to comment on this dish. The pad Thai was once again way too dry, couldn't taste much tamarind or fish sauce in the base and the chicken was very dry as well so it's basically just double dryness in this noodle dish. Vibes were good, nice interior design and normal level of noise as we were able to talk without having to shout but I didn't get why they were playing western songs in the background when it's a Thai place. Some local Thai music would have been so much better atmosphere wise. Service was the only good thing I suppose, friendly and smiley staff greeting us from entrance until exit. But frankly speaking I won't come back to this place ever again. It's not authentic or delicious at all.
