We came to this spot earlier in the day and it was completely empty. The atmosphere is very quaint and welcoming. The lady at the bar was friendly. The pool tables are in pretty good condition, although some of the cues are a little broken. Overall, we had a very good experience at this spot.
Lovely little bar in a wonderful part of Long Beach. Juke box and good drinks and pool table. I was there in a random weekday afternoon so it was quiet then. I'm sure it's wall to wall people on weekends! I'll definitely go back.
Absolutely adorable friendly spot, our usual local hang out. I LOVE that the crosswalks on all 4 corners around it is now rainbow colored. Hell yeah! More color is much better 🌈. I am so proud of Long Beach! They think Hollywood, West Hollywood is pofressive, but let me tell you, they got nothing on our LBC, cause we are Hollywood by the sea! Huge progressive crowds here, youthful, inclusive, LGBTQ friendly and supportive, multicultural, fun, sweet, people oriented. Pride 🌈 is huuuuge here, parade goes for miles, and much less % of narrow minded souls. And this spot, is a staple in the LBC. I am not gay, but I have been here many times, and always had a blast, I love the ppl of Long Beach 👉 they love to have fun and are very engaging and friendly. Come down to here one time, and you will know what I mean. Engaging staff, great prices, party crowds going for days. Not a dull moment, even when empty, just a great vibe!!!

Cash only! Pool tables, darts, good music. Not a sausage fest like the Falcon or the Brit. Great place for the gay girlies
Mostly female, but all kinds of people overall. One person bought several pizzas for the entire bar to share. I don't know if that happens a lot, but it was very cool! Nice vibe, neighborhood bar, mostly woman-oriented, but open & accepting of all. The demographics changed at least a couple of times in the times I was there, in terms of age, gender, race etc. If I lived nearby, I'd probably come here often.
ALWAYS A BLAST!! It is so hard to find a good lesbian bar and sweetwater knocks it out of the park. Fun vibes and great service. It gets busy and FUN!
Always a good time and LGBTQIA+ safe/friendly. Great place to grab a drink and play a game of pool! CASH ONLY
Fun dive bar in Long Beach area. Photo Booth, pool, and pay to play music jukebox on the wall. Cheap drinks, good bar service.
Friendly queer dive bar and community hub. The bar staff are great! Cash only, but drink prices are very reasonable.
My boyfriend and I were visiting Long Beach from Austin, TX. After checking in and spending some time on the beach, we decided to look for a nearby bar. It was a lovely 12-13 minute walk from the beach and although Sweetwater Saloon wasn’t our intended target, we came across it before making it to our original chosen destination, and I’m glad we did! The customers and staff were very friendly. The bartender that took our drinks seemed to be new, but very attentive. I grabbed a beer (can’t remember the name, but it was a heavy dark beer), it was delicious. My boyfriend grabbed a tequila water, which was made correctly, not too heavy not too light. We paid $13 total for our drinks, which compared to the prices in Austin, is a great price for two drinks. The owner or bar manager was lovely. He was very attentive and sociable. Would definitely visit again!

I’ve been coming to sweet water since I was in my early 20’s but was curious how long you all have actually been around? ☺️

Good locals bar with a comfy dive bar feel. Bartender was friendly and generous with the pours. The jukebox has a nice selection of tunes but it costs $1 per song, which was a bit rich for my blood. But the flip side of that i guess is that at least it keeps one person (with bad taste in music) from playing too many bad songs in a row! Overall a nice place - I’d come again!
when I visited with my friends we had a great time. good drinks, great prices, very friendly environment! the only reason I put 4 star is because there is only one bathroom and theres just a saloon door so anyone can walk in on you doing your business unless you get another friend to guard the door. I understand why there isn't a lock or a closed door, but still uncomfortable as a female.
Terry the bartender is amazing hes always super attentive unless of course it's a busy night it'll take a while to get a drink but usually their stiff/cheap drinks are worth the wait. Well drinks are like 3 dollhairs on Wednesdays (normally $5 other days) if you like to shoot pool there's also free pool on wed. Music is customer selected via a modern jukebox thing only downside to that is some people have weird taste in music but pretty decent crowd most of the time. The restrooms do smell kinda funky there so I just always hold my breath when I go but other than that sweet water is a pretty good time.
I had a memorable evening 🍷 & playing pool with all of the friendly, chill locals that wandered in. Hogged the pool table with a diverse group of male & female challengers.Neighborhood bar for all with the atmosphere y'all gravitate towards...dance, prance & romance if that's what you're after (or not!) My one beef was wthe bartender at closing. I'm aware of his responsibilities to get us out when everyone's feeling no pain @2 am. Closing....not an easy job! Perhaps one can attribute his fatigue & impatience trying to get us the hell out that resulted in my perceived rude encounter with El Jefe right at the end of a fun evening. Tone & attitude translate, my friend. Ya gotta be firm but not antagonistic.👹 I tipped 50% for 3 drinks at 11 per. One would hope that might mollify a prickly attitude. Just take a deep breath next time,Sir, and EVERYONE will benefit...CHEERS!!🤗🤪💮🌟

Its okay! Not the best place I’ve been but a cool place to meet new people… my biggest issue was the bathroom. It’s all gender inclusive but the door does not lock and the toilet is only blocked off by a very small wall.. had many men walk in the bathroom while I’m sitting on the toilet for all eyes to see. Had to immediately yell for them to get out.. This made me very uncomfortable.

Drink was great and atmosphere was chill but the bartender kind of ruined the experience. We came in about thirty minutes before happy hour ended and ordered a round of drinks— $24 for three, which we thought was kinda expensive but me and my friends had just gotten there and were busy catching up and didn’t think much of it. After catching up we try and order a second round, but we can’t catch the attention of the bartender and he keeps disappearing into the back. After a while I finally manage to get his attention (in his defense it might have been his break? He was eating fries) and order another round (this is after happy hour ends) and the bartender tells us it’s $22 for the same three drinks. I was confused and mentioned how he charged me $24 earlier when it was happy hour and should have been cheaper. I was only holding a $20 bill so I asked if it would be okay if I just gave him that and call it even, to which his response was “have you ever heard of tipping??” In a really snappy tone. Now I’m a service worker so I understand getting fed up with ppl not tipping but I’m quite used to leaving a big tip when I leave, especially when I’m staying at a bar for a while, so that’s what I was planning to do here. I didn’t feel like arguing so I just went and grabbed some more cash from my purse, but the snappiness of the bartender kinda spoiled me and my friends mood. We ended up leaving after that and getting some drinks at mineshaft down the street, with much faster service from a much nicer bartender. A friend who’s lived in Long Beach for a while recommended sweetwater, but I’m sad to say even she didn’t think it lived up to what it was like pre Covid. Maybe the bartender was just having an off night but it’s kinda a bummer to head to a chill bar for chill vibes and deal with a snippy bartender.
The environment was cool but staff was rude. The bartender Anthony, had horrible service. I was very excited to visit here just to find out the bartenders were extremely rude and inattentive. I love my community and being in the environment but the staff here were disappointing to say the least.

The service was absolutely terrible. The man serving us continuously left the bar to smoke or watch the football game. I had to flag him down three times just to receive service. He also was being more attentive to the white customers than me and my group of all black women. The bartender also stole money from us. He allowed two of my friends sitting at different sides of the bar to pay for the same drink (each of them verbally described which drinks they were paying for and the cash was taken from each of them separately). He also lied to my friend about the amount of cash she gave him when she asked for her change back. I am honestly so disgusted and disappointed in the establishment. I was excited to visit as it was recommended to me by a friend only to be discriminated against and stolen from.
I felt incredibly uncomfortable in this place. The worker was horrible. He took the extra change of my friend's money and lied when she asked for the rest back about how much was left over. And then he lied to me as well and didn't tell me someone covered my other friends drink, making me pay for it twice. Completely unacceptable behavior. The whole place should be shut down. Also he wasn't even at the bar the whole time and kept taking smoking breaks.
well don't go here if you are a person of color. i and some black friends of mine came in for a drink and a game of pool but during our visit the white male bartender took my (and my friends) money. after i did not receive my change i asked the bartender about the extra money which he insisted was no more than $3 (it was definitely at least ten). then come to find out my friend and i (we were sitting apart) paid for the same drinks twice!! considering that there was less than ten ppl in the bar you can't just label this a "mix up". queer poc should avoid this establishment.
