Andrye was a great server! He always refreshed our grill. The food was yummy as well :) we got meat lovers.
Delicious food! This is the perfect spot for date night, graduation, fathers/Mother’s Day, birthdays etc. you name it! My server today was Andre. He was very attentive and super sweet. He truly made our experience here AMAZING! def recommend!
I went to Gyu-kaku for the first time yesterday and I had a great experience, staff was extremely helpful in explaining how the bbq worked and little instructions on about how long to cook the meat. The meat itself was delicious, we got the combo and split it between two people with two appetizers. Honestly it was a great amount of food. Ryan and Long were great would love to have them serve us again!
Great atmosphere and service. Our waiter, Andrye, was super attentive and made great recommendations, often checking in on us to make sure we were enjoying our meal and even helped us with verifying names of our favorite meats. Thank you Andrye!! We will be back!
i love Japanese bbq so much. Phill, our waiter was very nice and my girlfriend and I had an awesome time celebrating our anniversary. highly recommend
Andreye was great and he took really great care of us!! The food was amazing!!
best time ! our waitress pony made everything everything
Came to Gyu-Kaku LIC again and it’s definitely not my first time here, but I really wanted to appreciate the amazing hospitality from our server, Allen. He made sure we were well taken care of the whole time and even recommended the best way to grill each meat properly. I rarely write reviews about service, but I really wanted to give him a shoutout because he truly stood out. Thank you, Allen, for making our dinner so enjoyable!
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. There are no kbbq joints in LIC, but this essentially is one. A TON of food for the price. Nothing but good things to say.
Amazing Japanese BBQ experience in LIC! Cooking everything at the table made the dinner so fun and interactive. The quality of the meat was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect for a date night. Una experiencia súper divertida y deliciosa. Definitivamente uno de mis spots favoritos en Queens hasta ahora.
We have come to this place several times. Always happy with food and service. Last time we tried one of mother's day specials and sake sampler, really good.
Went today for Mother’s Day and I have to say it was a great experience ! Especially because of my server Phil! He made sure he took care of us and really made this day special for us. If you go , ask for him!
Our server Phil was amazing ! I come here all the time and came with my family of 12 and great service ! I know it was hectic in the beginning but he explained everything well and managed to never miss anyone’s order despite it being a lot lol. Everyone enjoyed the food and service and Phil was very friendly and knowledgeable about the cuts and memorizing peoples orders. My favorite place to come 10/10!
I’ve been to Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ over 10 times now, and somehow it still never disappoints. In a city with so many trendy, one-hit spots, this is one of those rare places that’s just consistently solid—the kind of reliability that people sometimes take for granted, but shouldn’t. The food is always on point. The prime and wagyu beef are simply outstanding—rich, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for when you’re going out for Japanese BBQ. Every cut cooks beautifully right at the table, and it’s hard not to keep ordering more. On top of that, the calamari is perfectly done, and the spicy tuna volcano (with crispy fried rice) is genuinely something to write home about—great texture, bold flavor, and a standout even among a strong menu. What really keeps us coming back, though, is the experience. The staff here is consistently excellent. Today, Phil was our server and he was terrific—attentive without hovering, quick with everything, and clearly on top of his game. That level of service has been the norm every time we’ve visited. My only minor complaint is that their full menu isn’t available on the food delivery apps—so if you really want the full experience, you have to go in person. That said, it’s honestly worth it. All in all, this is one of those dependable go-to spots that delivers every single time. Whether it’s your first visit or your tenth, you know exactly what you’re getting—and it’s always a great meal.
Guy-Kaku Japanese BBQ is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is AMAZING. Super tasty. It’s fun to “cook” right there on the table BUT it’s even better when someone else do it for you 😝. Good place for a fun date. Service is good too. Phil was our server and was very friendly. I recommend this place without a doubt.
Allen took my order tonight. He was super helpful and friendly. I’ve been to a few locations but the staffs here 👍👍👍👍👍The food was amazing. Great ayce
Great cuts of meat. Very enjoyable experience.

PHIL CHANGED MY LIFE. BEST SERVER IN THE WORLD!
Very nice addition to LIC restaurant scene. Very energetic staff, really fun for groups, enjoying sharing and cooking your own meal is just an experience. Our 4th visit and we enjoy it everytime more.
Super friendly staff and the rooftop has an amazing view of the city. The grills on the roof are REALLY hot and we felt like we were screaming across the table because it was so big so just be prepared for that if you sit on the roof
Gyu-kaku is the best BBQ restaurant I tried in LIC so far! The quality of the meat was amazing and the service was fast!
It’s not as traditionally decorated like the other locations but it’s modern small intimate and clean. The customer service was ok lots of young ppl who don’t really provide the customer service experience but I was young before I’m not mad at that I’m just old now and nobody was rude. I enjoyed my food it was delicious and fresh.
I had an amazing time here, the food was fantastic and the service was lovely! Definitely would recommend 10/10!!!
We had a great time here! The food quality was great, and our waiter Care really went out of his way to make sure we had an enjoyable experience!
Great dinner at Gyu-Kaku, new location best all the other locations I’ve ever been. Care took great care of us! Service was awesome
I went to this new location during their soft opening and the food is great! Elley is very nice, friendly, and is super attentive to her customers.
Thank you so much Elley ! You were amazing. The service was beyond on point. Food is delicious as always. Will most definitely be back.
Great food and friendly staff. A great addition to the neighborhood
So fun and tasty, a great addition to the neighborhood. Also a great value for the amount of food you get.
Amazing vibes, great staff, clean environment.
It's always a pleasure eating here. Food and service is spot on.
Amazing service, little on the pricey side, but the quality is very good
Great service and I will be back.
10/10 dinning experience
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST !
Food was excellent
Cool rooftop spot
SIMPLY SUBLIME. I love Gyu-Kaku and have been going to the location on Main Street forever. This is just the same top quality BBQ experience, just closer to me. For a spot that’s been open only 3 days they have an amazing staff and we had the best server Annie. Really waiting on the AYCE being available otherwise it’s incredible. Will be coming back again soon!
Dennis and the team did a fantastic job during this weekend’s soft launch. Highly attentive and friendly staff who are hustling to provide the best experience for customers. We had gotten the Meat Lover’s Set for two which was a great value! Best of luck with the new launch, we look forward to coming back for the A5 Wagyu!
This is hands down the best Gyu-Kaku I’ve ever been to — and I’ve been to quite a few, including locations in Manhattan and Miami. But this one delivered the best experience by far. First of all, the flavor here has remained exactly the same as it was 10 years ago. I first tried Gyu-Kaku a decade ago when I was studying in Chicago, and over the years I’ve felt that many locations have lost that original taste — everything started feeling a bit rushed or watered down. But this one? It brought me straight back to those memories. The flavor is just like what I remember. Second, the Japanese manager here is incredible. His sense of service is unmatched — possibly the best I’ve seen in the U.S. Working in hospitality is tough, but he manages to take care of everything with amazing attention to detail, no matter how busy it gets. The owner made a great decision hiring him. This is the Gyu-Kaku I would most highly recommend.
We order from this place often, sometimes even 3x a week. Food is fresh, tasty and they give great portions. Always very fast delivery too!
The staff were really friendly. Sai took such great care of us and checked on us often to make sure we had everything we needed. Great food and great service
Favorite place to go on a date!! Me and my husband always come here every month for a date and other locations too. Really delicious and great food. Great service. The waiters are really nice. The army is great. It’s better to call them and reserve a spot so you don’t have to wait when you come in.
I love Gyu-Kaku!!! First time at the LIC location, been going to the Times Square Location and absolutely had an amazing time at this location. Thank you so much Lester and Rickson for the most amazing experience to celebrate my dad’s birthday. Super friendly and very attentive service. Can’t recommend it enough, definitely coming back!!!
My favorite Japanese BBQ I’ve been coming with my family for years now ! My waiter Elley this time was so sweet & kind very attentive! I love this place !! Shoutout to the whole staff for being so welcoming and big shoutout to the General Manager he definitely knows how to run a business ! Great food ,Great vibes , Very Nice Cold Draft Beers & Drinks! Definitely have to check them out if you haven’t !
Excellent food!!! We ate a lot!! Moon was our server she was so nice!! We will come back
LOVE THEM ! So nice and Leester the manager came to greeting us and drew was good care of us ! Highly recommend:)
Lester, the manager, and Rickson, our server, were absolutely phenomenal and provided the best service our family has ever had. We highly recommend everyone stop by at least once as both the food and service are incredible!!
Often went to their flushing location so it’s amazing that they opened one closer! Food was amazing and our server Annie was so great! 😊 She was very attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. Definitely can’t wait til they offer AYCE here like the other locations
Sho was the best. From the moment we sat down on the rooftop at Gyu-Kaku, he made the whole experience smooth and fun. Super friendly, great energy, and really knew what he was doing. He gave solid recs for the grill, kept the food coming at the right pace, and his drinks were honestly some of the best we’ve had. The rooftop vibe was perfect — breezy, relaxed, and great for a night out. Sho checked in just enough without being overbearing and made sure we had everything we needed. We left full, happy, and already planning to come back.
We really enjoyed eating dinner here! Our group of 4 had the Yakiniku Party and thought it was delicious. I also appreciate their attention to customers with the gluten intolerance. Will be back again!
We had an incredible experience at Gyu-Kaku, thanks to our amazing host, Kyler! From the moment we walked in, Kyler made us feel welcome and taken care of. He was friendly, attentive, and super knowledgeable about the menu—he even gave us great recommendations that made our meal even better. It’s rare to find someone who genuinely enjoys creating a great experience for guests, but Kyler nailed it. We’ll definitely be back, and we hope to be seated in his section again!
Kyler was knowledgable and incredibly sensitive and detail-oriented when it came to my gluten free and nightshade-free needs. You know they're good if they check back and forth between chef and customer. And very few grillmasters will know to remind us how many minutes to cook that dish that has no label distinguishing it from the other meats. Mr. Leester was helpful and informative too. Khun Saii and friends set up a beautifully lit roof (21yo +, great view of the skyline). Best to all of y'all- i will be sure to visit next time I'm in #IloveNYC #SWtop5cities . Maybe, Kyler, you'll be promoted b/c of your savvy business and marketing ideas :)
This place is amazing! They are currently doing a soft opening and will be opening their rooftop soon — Kyla informed us about it, and I can’t wait! She was incredible; I had no idea how Japanese BBQ worked, but she helped me figure it out so easily. Everything was absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely be back very soon!
We cannot say enough amazing things about our waitress, Sai (please forgive us if we’re spelling her name wrong). We’ve been lucky enough to have her twice, and both experiences were outstanding. She is incredibly attentive, friendly, and truly goes above and beyond to make sure every part of the meal is perfect. Her customer service alone is a reason for us to keep coming back. We’re also so grateful for the LIC location—it’s much more convenient for us than the Flushing one, and it’s become our go-to spot. Every visit has been 100% worth it, from the quality of the food to the excellent service. The food is consistently delicious, the staff is welcoming and professional, and the atmosphere is warm, cozy, and perfect for enjoying a great meal. We will absolutely be returning many more times and highly recommend this location to anyone considering a visit!
We usually go to the Flushing location and we love it. This new location is awesome, the service was incredible, from the hostess to our servers, Mauricio and Kirch went above and beyond, amazingly on point! Kind, friendly, polite, and attentive to every detail. The meat was fresh and delicious. I've read a couple of reviews where people complain that the corn doesn't have cheese; it does, it's just melted. You have to wait for it to cool down so you can enjoy its creaminess. As always, the harami was the star. We had AYCE (All You Can Eat).
Came here after opening and enjoyed it. We've been to the Gyu's in flushing, Cooper square and Osaka, and it held up. The food was as expected, and the vibe was really nice. Chigae soup is a favorite, and so are the wontons. Must say staff are really nice, Elley was really good and did a great job. We'd come back.
I love this place I will be back the food was so good the kids menu as so cute they have labubus at the window the workers are so kind I can cook my own food it was so cool 🥳
Got a lunch takeout. They were delicious! My only complaint is portion size of protein but still really satisfied with overall experience.
We had an incredible Japanese barbecue experience! Every dish was absolutely delicious, and the service was outstanding. Kyle was amazing — she took such great care of us and made the evening even more special. Highly recommend!
The food was amazing. The service was amazing. my server, Tshering was amazing very fast and attentive. the team was also great help, Elley had a great conversation with us. Steven, katelyn was amazing help too with running food. The restaurant had a really good vibe. Angel was amazing at cracking jokes with that made the whole experience better.
A nice Asian BBQ restaurant in LIC! Great food and excellent service. *Open 11:30am-11pm *Beautiful rooftop bar! *We were served by Kyler and the manager, both of whom showed amazing hospitality!
Had another awesome experience at Gyu-Kaku! Kyla, our waitress, was super attentive and made sure we had everything we needed the whole night. Kyler and Dennis were great backup, always checking in and helping out with a smile. Shoutout to Hua as well for keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. The staff here really makes the meal special every time. Highly recommend can’t wait to come back!

I went to the one in flushing a year ago for my birthday but this new location has a rooftop bar which was such an amazing vibe. The quality of meats is top tier. My server Shohan was so friendly and attentive which made my experience one of the best I’ve ever had. I definitely will be back and I hope Shohan is working that day.
I had an excellent experience having dinner at Gyu Kaku LIC, thanks to our server, Elley. She was very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Our drinks were refilled promptly and she checked in on us at the right times without being intrusive. She provided great recommendations and made our dining experience enjoyable. Thank you for the wonderful service! Highly recommended.
Had an amazing time at Gyu-Kaku Long Island City! The food was incredible — every cut of meat was fresh and flavorful, and grilling right at the table made it such a fun and interactive experience. The garlic noodles, wagyu, and Prime kalbi were definite standouts! The service was top-notch from start to finish. A big shoutout to Dennis, the manager, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. He was so friendly, welcoming, and really made us feel taken care of — you can tell he genuinely cares about his guests’ experience. The restaurant itself has a great vibe — clean, modern, and lively without being too loud. Perfect spot for date night, group gatherings, or just a night out with friends. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!
We had a great experience last night! Our waitress, Elley, was amazing. Friendly, attentive and made sure we always had what we needed. She explained the menu clearly and checked on us often without being intrusive. We did the meat variety and it was so good! We've also visited the Flushing location before and this experience was just as great. Excellent service that made our dinner even better!

Phil was great throughout the entire process. He consistently checked in with us
The food was a bit on the salty side. We ordered a papaya salad, Khao Soi curry noodle dish and Prik Khing (sautéed string beans with chicken). We asked for lime to cut the saltiness and spice (level 3 was quite spicy but we were forewarned). The server was very friendly, attentive and welcoming. I liked the floral decor but the music a bit too loud and clubby
Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ is one of my favorite places to go. We came here with my mom and my fiancé. My mom lives in LIC, and this location is literally across the street from her place, so we decided to try it instead of going to Flushing, where we usually go. The food was good and still very enjoyable. That said, the vibe here feels a bit different compared to the Flushing location—maybe it’s newer, or it just hasn’t fully settled yet. Overall, a solid spot with good food and a convenient location. I’d definitely come back, especially being so close by.
Satisfies our bbq cravings, glad this opened in LIC. Great if you don’t mind cooking the meat yourself. Although I would say, ordering from their cooked dishes on the menu are also still very good if you don’t want to grill yourself
Did the AYCE premium (most basic one actually) was about 60pp. They let you order 2 plates of meat pp at a time so don’t sit around with an empty grill. Last order is 70minutes from first order put in. Their apps were just okay. Corn cheese had no cheese?? Meats were splendid. Can’t speak for the chicken as I tried to get my moneys worth and was happily stuffed with beef and pork. Can’t vouch for the seafood as I didn’t try that. Ice cream is very good.
Yay, after months of anticipation the LIC spot finally open! Hubby and I went for dinner this past weekend during their soft opening. Luckily we were able to make a 7:30 reservation which I strongly advised. There was this one couple (walk-in) got there around the same time as us and we saw them still waiting for a table on our way out after 9pm! This LIC location is a multi-levels establishment, our server (great service by the way) told us there will be a rooftop with a full bar coming soon. We opted for the Chef’s Choice Course Set Menu, good value and we left with happy stomach. As a BBQ lover and fan of Gyu-KaKu, this is definitely a good addition to the neighborhood.
Great dining experience. Great for an after work spot or family outing. Happy hour was a true vibe and prices were great. A MUST VISIT!
Service was very attentive. Food was good enough for us to go back. Ambience OK, not the best decor or set up. It’s nice to have something different in the neighbourhood.

3 stars because I haven’t tried all the food nor have I had a dine in experience. I know they have three floors for dine in, which includes roof top dining. The 2 hostess were welcoming and nice. I ordered the fried pork dumplings, they charge a little extra for take out orders. I got 5 dumplings for $ 9.20. I was disappointed. The outside of the dumpling had decent texture, crisp but also soft. It was the pork, mushy with no flavor whatsoever. The pork was pale. I like a dumpling where the pork holds its texture when you bite into it. This wasn’t it. I’d like to try something else in the future, hopefully a better outcome.
I wasn't too impressed with Gyu-Kaku in LIC. The food was mediocre at best, especially considering the high prices. Nothing really stood out flavor-wise, and it didn’t feel worth what we paid. The atmosphere was lacking — not very inviting or lively, which took away from the overall experience. Service was acceptable, but nothing particularly memorable. There are definitely better options if you’re looking for quality Japanese BBQ.
The meat was too salty and it took an hour to get our food. Also it was pretty expensive. Not worth it.
Watching the server preparing s’mores with bare hands ruined the whole meal
Just nah
This a “funny” story, i usually go to the city every week cause i do Pilates there, and I walkways like going to Gyu Kaku after a big workout cause I want like a “comfort food” and that restaurant is literally my favorite, was there today so i looked for the closest one, went to this one and I was waiting for a friend to join me, when we were there, my friend didn’t wanna eat cause he already had lunch but I was starving so I ordered the food, my friend just got a beer, I wanted to do all u can eat ( that’s what I always do when I go to one of those restaurants, after I ordered; a girl came to me to tell me I couldn’t do the all you can eat cause my friends wasn’t ordering any food! Everytime i go to that place i do all you can eat! They didn’t let me get what I ordered cause my friend wasn’t ordering food! They just wanted to force me to get something “a la carte” wich I never do! Like, what’s the problem!? I was ordering what I was Gonna pay as I usually do ! I go to one of Those restaurants every week!! That’s how you treat customers !? What’s the problem if my friend already ate? He was still ordering drinks and I just wanted to eat the same thing I eat EVERYTIME I go to one of those restaurants!
Worst dining experience in nyc. So many great bbq places out there in nyc. Staff not well trained the atmosphere is weird. Gyu-kaku might be Great in other cities but definitely not this location and not in New York (soo many better options here)
You guys should really deal with screaming children, at least put them in a different section😓 we are seated between two little adorable screaming babies and we can not digest at all, that scream can took years off my lifespan, for real.😨
I hate leaving bad reviews, but we have given this place a few chances and I have to say it is just not worth the price. It's not only not enough meat to fill you up but the quality of the cuts is bad. This last time we got the value meal which is about $50 per person not including tip, and half of the cuts were either tiny bits that were falling through the cracks in the grill, extremely fatty, or sinewy (hard to chew). Since they opened (very recently) the quality has clearly gone down a lot, which is pretty disappointing. As for service, I see the workers are trying their best, but the place is clearly understaffed and a lot of people are still learning. A high turnover rate is usually a sign they aren't paying their workers very well, which doesn't make me feel so good about supporting this business. We also waited awhile in the entirely empty first floor entrance area since no one was there. Atmosphere is fine I guess but if the food sucks then we can't say we enjoyed our meal.
We arrived late due to a severe thunderstorm, reception made the point to let us know we were late. From there, it went downhill. Miso soup and rice were served cold. Mushrooms arrived with visible dirt, and the staff didn’t understand why that was an issue. It took far too long to replace them. The cooking fire kept going out, and food was dropped at the table without explanation or care. Both of us ended up with food poisoning from the salad. Staff was inattentive the entire time. The manager eventually apologized, but by then the damage was done.
I love Gyu-Kaku but not this location yet. Food is average but very disappointing cocktails! I ordered strawberry mojito but there was no mint at all.…what’s the point of mojito then?
Truly terrible dining experience. The space was not made for a restaurant, and it shows. Everything has to be brought up to the second floor via a dumb waiter, and as such the service is lacking at no fault of the waiters. The value for the money is simply not there - we paid $114 for 2 people and left still hungry.
I’ve been to many Gyu-Kaku locations both in and outside of NYC, but this was by far the worst one. I now understand why it wasn’t busy, even in such a highly Asian neighborhood. All the meats were tough, extremely thin, old, and had a strange texture, like they’d been frozen for too long and thawed too quickly. Out of the nine or so types of meat we ordered, maybe one or two were edible; the rest were just bad. The service could’ve been ok, but the server who brought our meats (different from the one who took our order) kept throwing the dishes onto the table. He wasn’t overtly rude, but he literally threw every single dish down. The rice was also dry, hard, and tasted old. It tasted like it hadn’t been cooked with enough water. Overall, I would never go back. If you care about your money and want a decent dining experience, I strongly suggest going elsewhere.
