Authentic halal Bosnian food in Astoria. It's been a part of the neighborhood for many years. The restaurant is good size with several tables for indoor seating. There is nice authentic wall decor and feel to the space, making it seem casual and homely. We ordered the Spinach Burek, Chicken Kebab, and Mixed Meats. Food was delicious! The roasted red pepper side that comes with the entrees adds a lot of additinal flavor to the experience, we even asked for extras. Service was great and pricing was reasonable.
Delicious food! It was out first time trying Bosnian food and it was delicious. The meat platter was a good way to try all the different styles of meat, but next time we’ll still with just one meat platter instead. The stuffed cabbage rolls were my favorite! The ladies working there were super nice!
Delicious delicious food, really chill atmosphere and friendly service. It was or first time having serbian food, so we asked for recommendations and it was spot on. Recommend the sarma (cabbage rolls), cevapi (meat sausages) and the spinach&cheese burek. Note that it's a small place (there's 5 tables), so there might be a bit of a wait. Also, they sell their typical sauce (delicious!). Will definitely come back
We were welcomed with open arms and perfectly grilled cevap absolutely amazing Orangina euro feel quite ethnic, true to its soul and heaven. And I’m a local! God bless.
Really nice food with friendly people. Great place if you love meat!
My first experience with Bosnian food as a Brooklyn native. This restaurant is a treasure. Lots of wonderful options and very hearty and affordable dishes. I particularly enjoyed the spinach bureks, which the waitress recommended on the basis of how much meat was in our order. We were taken great care of and not rushed. The decor in the restaurant is also wonderful and soothing. Would recommend to anybody who wants to try something unique and authentic!
Delicious, well-priced food really close to the Regal UA Kaufman Astoria theater. First time ever having Bosnian food and this place did it well. I loved the texture of the burek. The cevapi, sausage, and kofte were cooked very well and tasted great. The pita was warm and fresh. I was a big fan of the Kajmak, thought it added a good flavor to the meal. The bell pepper spread was delicious with meats. The service was nice and they were patient with us, even though we were new to the cuisine.
I’ve been coming here for about 14 years, and the quality has never changed. The service is always warm, friendly, and welcoming. The staff are kind, attentive, and make you feel at home every time you visit. The food is consistently excellent, and the quality has always remained the same over the years. Their börek and cevabi are absolutely amazing — some of the best I’ve had.
Had an incredible lunch at Sarajevo grill! Everything was so delicious, felt like home cooking. We ordered many things and had a feast. My favorite was the cevapi with ajvar. Get a side of yogurt as well. So delicious. Service was so friendly and helpful! Will definitely be back soon
Been here a couple times and each time was delicious and service excellent. Get the cevapi and burek! So much care is put into the food and the atmosphere is obviously a family restaurant full of pride in what they do. Come here!
I don’t know where to start. One of the best places to get cevape. My family are meat eaters they love it, husband knows his meat says it’s high quality. Reminds him of back home, authentic Balkan warm hospitality. Their salad always tastes fresh, No sogginess. Highly recommend
I’ve lived in Astoria for almost 20 years and sadly only tried Sarajevo recently. Had been going to get my Cevapi somewhere more nearby. Let me tell you, these Cevapis are so much better! And the Bosnian sausages! Wow absolutely delicious! The owners are so sweet and friendly! Can’t wait to try more items on the menu soon!!
Was our first time coming here after always driving by, food was amazing. Great taste, freshly made, mom and pop type of restaurant. Owners were very nice and friendly and their food was very tasty. Definitely recommend - was our first time having Bosnian food
I highly recommend this beautiful place if you want to taste good Bosnian food. Cheese Burek is my favorite. And their yogurt is the most delicious I've had in New York so far. The staff is friendly. When you sit inside, the atmosphere instantly makes you feel like you are at your own home.
If you are craving for the authentic taste of the Balkans, no matter if you are from this or that part of it, or any other location, this is the place to go in Astoria. Low key, friendly home feeling environnement with home made food like grandma use to cook it, and home pastries/desserts, to melt your heart away. Price is for every day people. Not a fancy place, but authentic and with the genuine flavors of the Balkans.
What a great place for Balkan food! The pictures make you feel like you’re overseas, the staff is friendly and the food is AWESOME! We travel for 40 minutes for the best pasulj, čevapi and pljeskavice around. And it’s not even close. Very reasonable prices too, if we lived closer I’d go 3 or 4 times a week. Must visit!
Excellent ćevabdžinica! The food is incredibly delicious and authentic – every bite reminded me of true homemade flavors. The ćevapi are juicy, well-seasoned, and perfectly grilled, and the sides and bread are made with a lot of care. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff is friendly and always ready to recommend the best dishes. A true oasis of Balkan taste in New York! I will definitely be coming back.
I’m leaving this review for them to do better because as I’m a Turkish and lover of Bosnia and Bosnian food I want them to do better. Food was good however the lady who has black hair was a bit rude and I even went out of my way to be super kind and nice. Unfortunately she didn’t serve us well. She brought cevapi and dropped the onions which can happen but she said she ll clean and bring us new one she never did. She brought me yogurt in a cartoon cup and she brought yogurt in glass for other tables. Also our palacinka didnt have cream or she just didn’t care to put it on. I understand that we are all human and we may have days that we don’t feel bad. I hope owner will notice this will give his workers off day when they don’t feel well. Hvala puno.
Extremely delicious food! We had cevapcici with Kajmak and Ajvar as well as a potatoe pita. The homemade yoghurt was also great! It all tasted just like in Bosnias capital Sarajevo. The waitress and all of the workers were so polite and friendly. Would definitely recommend everybody to come here. It’s definitely a hidden gem!
Please come. It’s family owned I believe. Very nice people. Very homey and to the point joint. We asked about the different beverages and they explained it so well. Got Mixed meat for 2. The long sausage was by far my favorite. Chicken was tender and juicy. The kidneys were so good. And finally the Sweetbreads( Beef pancreas) something I’ve never had before. I had to call them to get the name. My first time having that and Bosnian food. Both such a great experience. Every was fresh, everything was hot, even the pita bread, it was clearly made in house and was so fresh. I’m not sure who’s the chef here but they get down! The Cockta which was recommended was so good I had to buy another. I will be back!
The first time trying Bosnian cuisine, it was pretty good. I loved the sausages; they tasted smoky and bouncy, giving a very nice mouthfeel. This herbal soda we randomly ordered turned out super nice too! The whole spot was small and didn't have much decoration, I guess it aimed to present the unique and long-run restaurant vibes. I wouldn’t mind going back there again on the day I skip vegetation dietary as it’s just 2 minutes walk from home.
