Matcha Cafe Maiko is loved for its authentic and flavorful matcha desserts, especially the soft serve. The staff is consistently praised for being friendly and attentive. Limited seating and occasional powder clumps in the ice cream are minor drawbacks.

Matcha Cafe Maiko is my favorite spot for desserts! This spot is my go-to, especially when I'm craving matcha or hojicha flavors. The Maiko Special is always one of my favorites to order and share with a friend, but this month's specials were black sesame which I knew I had to try as well! I ordered the black sesame soft serve and my friend ordered the black sesame latte, and both were incredible! I'm a huge fan of black sesame flavored desserts, and these really hit the spot. Also loved how the shop was decorated beautifully for Halloween! Amazing quality desserts, service, and vibes. I also appreciate how this location has a few benches outside, so when I visit with friends, we're able to sit together right outside the shop and enjoy our desserts. I've been here several times and will definitely will keep coming back!
This place was so good! Got their signature Maiko Special Ice Cream. Very delicious. Matcha was so flavourful. Would come back! Tip: Make sure to mix in the ice cream into the bottom of the cup. There is corn flake cereal and chiffon cake. Find they taste better with the ice cream mixed in.
This place is an amazing dessert spot! 🍨 Maiko Matcha Cafe 🍵 serves an incredible selection of delicious 🤤 ice cream and frozen ❄️ desserts! Definitely get their Signature Soft Serve 🍦 Ice Cream - their Match flavor and Peach 🍑 Oolong are fantastic! Staff 👨🍳 is friendly and welcoming and the service is quick. ⏲️ They have very limited outdoor seating 🪑 so be prepared to grab-and-go! 🥡 I wish I came here more often!
I recently visited Maiko Matcha Cafe and was blown away by the amazing tea and atmosphere. The matcha was some of the best I've ever had, with rich and flavorful notes. What sets Maiko apart is their commitment to using only the finest matcha from Japan, which really elevates the quality of their blends. I can't wait to go back and try some of their other tasty ice cream!
This has slowly become an addiction of mine every time I come to Manhattan! It’s a pretty small tight space so if it’s busy it might be tough to get in the door and order, but it’s worth it! The lavender matcha swirl is so good, not overly sweet, just a perfect balance. $9 per cup so a bit pricey but it is very filling and much lower in calories than a typical cup of ice cream.
They have their special seasonal ice cream flavor, one of the best and most unique soft serve I ever had, very unique texture and just the right sweetness. Highly recommended!! Their waffles are also very good, the inside is stuff with mochi and comes in both sweet and savory variety.
Take it from someone who have tried most matcha places in town and in Japan — this is what you’re looking for if you want to love matcha even more. Whenever I visit Chinatown (or Soho, or even Noho when I’m craving this too much), I always swing by for a matcha latte. Highly highly recommend!
Came here after having ramen next door, and was craving for some light dessert. Not only was the shop cute, but the dessert was great for people who aren't a huge fan of overly sweet desserts. We tried their Matcha Latte Float (my personal favorite) and the Maiko Special. Both, were very good. Their soft serves were smooth and had the right amount of sweetness. Definitely will come back to try their Hojicha soft serve!
Delicious soft serves. While they offer many matcha options, my personal favorite was the Mango and Peach Oolong soft serve, called Sho-Gun. The mango flavor wasn’t too dominant, which allowed the peach to really come through. I loved it as I love peaches. The Maiko special was also good. It was matcha soft serve, which had a creamy texture with just the right amount of sweetness and a slightly bitter taste from the matcha. It’s perfect for those who enjoy matcha. One thing to note is that there’s no seating inside, it’s more of a takeout place. Still, highly recommend!
I had a wonderful experience here! I don't get drinks often, but I had a lovely conversation with a girl named Amina working there who was very kind and helped me pick a good drink. She made it perfectly, I would definitely recommend. Thank you!
Haven't been here in a year and it's because the matcha is soo strong. I'm always craving this place in the evening but can't sleep once I've had it. A great place to get a strong matcha drink or ice cream.
The matcha shaved ice was fantastic. The ice was more similar to crushed ice than shaved, but I like both. The matcha was delicious and rich, and the toppings to ice ratio was perfect!
THE BEST MATCHA I'VE EVER TRIED. I highly recommend it to locals and tourists, you will never find a Matcha as good as this. My group ordered different things, including soft serve, ube, matcha and strawberry flavors.
I got a matcha soft serve with sakura foam, and it was delicious! The music inside had great song choices, so peak. Especially since they played music by Adéla. (Plz listen to her music)
Delicious Strawberry matcha and the cookie was unbelievable! Fast service too
This is the place for matcha everything as well as hojicha versions of that everything too 😀. It's a great spot to enjoy some Japanese inspired desserts. They have desserts like Japanese parfait, shaved ice, soft serve ice cream (in flavors like : matcha, hojicha, ube & black sesame as well as other occasional limited time flavors too), drinks/beverages, and now mochi cookies too!! (I highly recommend the cookies!! 🙈 It's so good when warmed up). Other than their cookies, they seem to have some additional new dessert items too since the last time i visited, like this matcha ube pudding w/ matcha ube soft serve that I tried 😋. The pudding also came in a matcha strawberry version, and you get to choose the soft serve flavor, so theres alot of possible combination in flavors in one dessert. Overall, this is definitely one of my go-to spots for premium matcha and hojicha flavored desserts. (P.S. you can also buy their premium matcha powder too! 👍)
Maiko Matcha is a must-visit for any matcha lover in NYC! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the rich aroma of premium Uji matcha and a calming, modern vibe. I tried their signature matcha soft serve and it was incredibly smooth, earthy, and not too sweet—exactly how matcha should be. The matcha float and houjicha drinks are also amazing if you’re looking to try something different. Everything is beautifully presented, and you can tell they take their craft seriously. It’s a perfect stop whether you’re a matcha fanatic or just looking for a delicious Japanese-inspired dessert.
this is the perfect spot if you’re craving a sweet treat! they have a variety of items from frappe, soft swerve and more. I got their black sesame which is here for a limited time and it’s a must try! the black sesame flavor is there in every bite. can’t wait to come back and try other items!
Great little cafe for all things matcha! They currently have a seasonal Calpico and Strawberry soft serve for December and it was the perfect creamy, tangy, and sweet treat. I also tried their hojicha latte, which you can adjust the sweetness. It was earthy and not too sweet, perfect for a cold winter day. We also enjoyed their Maiko special which comes layered with a number of ingredients topped with your choice of soft serve. Definitely recommend checking this spot out if you like matcha!
Just had the most delightful experience at Maiko Matcha Cafe. The limited-time Strawberry soft serve top with 23.75 K gold is an absolute dream , and it’s the perfect sweet treat for upcoming Valentine’s Day🍓💖 🌟. The crispy cone is made fresh daily, adding that perfect crunch to every bite. They just added a new gem to their menu - Mochi Waffles! 😍💚We tried both flavors, Matcha with red bean cream and the Original with nori pork floss and kewpie mayo. The mochi waffles are unbelievably soft and chewy inside - a true flavor explosion! What set Maikomatcha apart is their commitment to quality - they use premium high quality matcha in all their menu items. 🍵👍. If you’re a matcha lover or just looking for a unique and delicious experience, Maiko Matcha is the place to be! Maiko has some of my favorite matcha ice cream, its definitely on the rich side but isnt too sweet and had a substantial matcha taste. This location is quite small inside, so its only really for taking to go or sitting outside. The soft serve is fairly large so very shareable. The hojicha latte was good, I dont like it too sweet so id go 25 or 50% sugar. The staff were nice, and they had a bogo soft serve sale.
I had the pleasure of visiting Matcha Cafe Maiko ,and it was an absolute delight! The moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and exceptional hospitality. The staff went above and beyond to make my experience memorable, patiently answering all my questions and offering great recommendations. 10/10
Nice little Japanese cafe and soft serve joint serving up authentic, flavorful and unique desserts. Decent prices and good variety of options but limited seating. I got the the maiko special and it was great. great red bean paste, matcha cake bites clear jelly, cornflakes, chestnuts and three soft serve flavors (matcha, ube and the seasonal special).
Matcha Cafe Maiko is my go-to whenever I need my matcha fix! I’ve been a regular here, and it’s seriously the best place for any matcha enthusiast. Their Golden Matcha Ice Cream is just phenomenal, so creamy and packed with that deep matcha flavor. Tried the Earl Grey Soft Serve on my last visit, and it was surprisingly delightful with a gentle hint of Earl Grey. The Sparkling Matcha Pineapple drink? Super refreshing and a fun twist on matcha. I also love their Maiko Special, Matcha Latte, and Hojicha Latte. But nothing beats their Matcha Soft Serve, the best I’ve ever had. Always smooth, perfectly sweetened, and just downright delicious. Can’t recommend this place enough!

The staff at this location is outstanding and absolutely attentive to your questions! The soft serve is delicious. The Ube and the Matcha is my favorite. 🍦

I took a sip of my friend’s strawberry matcha and it was really good. I think it’s on the sweeter side but that’s my preference for matcha. They have a lot of fun flavors like banana matcha and creative ones. If I were to get matcha from somewhere as someone who usually doesn’t like matcha because of the bitterness, I would go here for matcha and to try the different flavors.

you know the matcha good if your matcha-hating boyfriend loves it. i got the cheese foam matcha and it tasted divine i cannot stress enough, and my boyfriend got the sparkling melon with matcha foam (they ran out of lavender foam) which i was a little bit skeptical since ive never tried the matcha + melon combination before but he loved it and i thought it tasted so refreshing. would’ve been nice if they had some outdoor seating or something since its cramped inside but oh well
A Japanese cafe with unique offering. Got the unsweetened iced matcha and sparkling matcha and it was nothing out of ordinary but saw the rave about their soft serve and would love to come back to try it another time. The cafe offers no seating though there’s 2 benches set up outside on a nice day.
The shop was cute Japanese style. We ordered matcha ice cream and a shaved ice with some toppings. The matcha ice cream wasn’t enough matcha flavor, it was too normal. I wouldn’t recommend this place to get ice cream for those that live a strong matcha flavor. The service was fast. The shaved ice looked good. The food is Instagram worthy but I wouldn’t try their ice cream again, I prefer a stronger flavor matcha.
i had gotten the matcha soft serve in a cup and it was good! there were some clumps of powder but the place was busy around 6pm so it was reasonable. the place can get easily crowded, especially when waiting in line to order on the one pos system. the taste was powder and tasted like actual matcha. i will be coming back again!
Lovely place for matcha lovers, I enjoyed the ice-cream ($9 was insane for it)!! Really loved the decor, matched the overall atmosphere of the shop & menu.
Maiko matcha cafe was ok! I had the matcha ice cream with the golden flakes on it, and the gold flakes didn’t have much taste to it. The ice cream was pretty good and like soft serve, it wasn’t overly sweet. The ice cream had a smooth and creamy touch to it which I loved. There were many matcha items on the menu. The price was a little bit high and it could have been cheaper, it was a little bit over priced. The icecream should have been around $7-$8 instead of a whopping $14. There wasn’t much seating inside, but the place was beautifully decorated with vibrant neon colors that gave it a very modern vibe. My ice cream also came pretty fast. The customer service was good, they were polite and kind. Check this place out if you want to try some matcha soft serve as well as drinks! Price: $14.15 💸 Rating: 7/10 📝

Going to start with the shockers. First, my friend says she doesn’t want ice. They say they’re not allowed to not give ice in the drink. Mind you she got an ice cream x matcha drink from the menu, and I got the banana pudding drink so both drinks have a sort of solidified food. So when we finished the drink and the food a lot of was sticking to the ice making it hard to really even eat most of it: we don’t care if you give us less product (since ice gives illusion of more matcha drink) we just didn’t want ice. Second, they overfilled the drink and when my friend just moved it ever so slightly from the stand it spilled and the workers just watched and went on about their day lol, just thought it was funny. Second there’s no seating which is fine but they could utilize their space better. The drinks were alright, when it comes to taste alone. There are better matcha spots for sure. Mind u in the pic the seat is from the connecting restaurant of the building.
Their mochi and matcha ice cream are delicious. The ambiance of the place offers a genuine Asian experience. The food was delightful, and the service was good. I recommend trying the matcha ice cream. The only downside is that if you're just coming for dessert, you are not invited to sit inside the restaurant.
I had swirl soft serve, muscat grape with matcha, I know this place is quite popular, but I am little disappointed with the taste. Both flavors taste watery and bland, muscat grape I understand, and you can taste little bit of the grape, but matcha flavor also light. Some other matcha soft serve definitely more tasty.
